Celador films was formed in 1983 by Paul Smith and later taken over by Complete Communications. It is best known for co-producing the successful films Slumdog Millionaire and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Celador operates on a project-by-project basis, hiring staff for each film and then selling the completed films to distributors. Though small compared to major Hollywood studios, Celador's low-budget films often turn a profit at the box office due to their quality. Celador's main UK competitors are Film4 Films and DNA Films.
