Inside slip presentation

Cd covers presentation
- 1. The CD cover stages
- 2. Stage 1. One of our ideas for our CD cover was using this image again. We thought this image would work as it had lots of areas to add text.
- 3. Stage 2. This idea came from some research about old fashioned book signing and documents during the war. We manually made the stamp but moving the letters in place. We added “the libertines” across the top to make a arch. We received some feedback that it wasn’t clear enough for a cd cover as the band’s name should be the first thing you see. Because of this we tried something else..
- 4. Stage 3. This stage was all about experimenting with fonts. This was a font used by the Libertines themselves. This was an old style scrabble tile font with army stencil in the middle. We also tried a font with no relevance at all to see how it would appear.
- 5. Stage 4. We thought that the image we was using had a very busy background and is not conventional of a CD cover so we cropped even further into the image to focus in on just the badge and the eyes. It benefitted us when it came to adding text as we had all of these dark areas to add a light font onto.
- 6. Stage 5. Our next idea came from a comment about exaggerating the eyes of the model. We came up with a creepy idea to incorporate Tony Blair into the cover.
- 7. Stage.6 As you can see we added Tony Blair’s face into the model’s eyes/ badge for a different effect. We had this idea from cartoons where for example dollar signs flash up into the eyes. It is also used as a symbol for control, as if someone if under someone else’s power. ( the soldiers under the governments power) This idea was not liked very much and even personally I didn’t think it worked. This was because our message was suppose to be all about the innocence of the children and by making them look sinister it defeated the message. Also unless you look very closely, the tony blair masks in the eyes were unclear. However one idea that got great feedback was the use of the font running along the hat rim.

- 9. Second Idea. The second idea we tried was making a cover which included “the band”. This photograph was taken of the boys in a staggered position to give an aesthetic layout..we then edited, and manipulated this image and created these...

- 11. Feedback.. We put all of our CD covers together and even printed them off to see how they would look on a actual CD. We asked 10 students and 5 teachers which they preferred and why and this was the favourite. One key thing I learnt from this outcome is that even though I thought the second designs looked better and more like a CD cover, it is how the audience see’s things that makes the product.
