We had also learnt that it is very difficult to have clear text on a busy
background and in the case of this image, there is very little room to
add text. This lead us to stage 2....

4. Stage 3.
This design was very much about experimenting.
We new that we needed complimentary colours
for this poster to work, so we extracted the
background colour from the badge, the necklace
and the uniform combined.
After various font research we new that the
type writer font would give it an authentic
look whilst being modern and clear at the
same time.
However, we had some feedback at this point and
it was said that the text positioning was not quite
right and it was far to basic.
Leading us to stage 4....
5. Stage 4.
As you can see from this design all of the elements started
coming together. The main change in this design was the
approved stamp.
We wanted to add the stamp as we thought it could be
read in two ways. One as the authentic war stamp, and
two as in the CD itself has been approved and is worth,
buying.
We then staggered the fonts to avoid a boring linear pattern and
changed “The Libertines” to a stencil font to separate it from the
other text.
By adding the “out now” it rounded off the
poster, bringing it back to the point that it’s
adverting the libertines new single.
We asked for feedback at this stage, and it was agreed that
it was too “flat” and needed more of a background.
Leading us to stage 5...

In this design, we took on board
the “flat” comment and used a We changed the title again
