How did my production skills
develop throughout the project?
Jacob Cooper
Research
 Before we begun our production process, we carried out
a large amount of research before finally coming to a
conclusion of our target audience. By doing this, we
were able to develop our research skills and we were
kept very well informed when doing the research. We
came to the conclusion that we wanted to make a film
about a virus. This peaked the whole groups interest
and the final genre choice made us all be in agreement
for the film to come as well as the basis being on
current events.
Research

 After finishing deciding our genre, we moved to
Pinterest to elaborate and expand on our existing
ideas. We collected numerous images to help peak
interest and come up with ideas for the production. It
was a very useful process for us as we collated loads of
different images. This allowed us to enhance our
knowledge of our target audience further, which led to
more and more internal interest.
Preliminary
Exercises
 We took part in preliminary exercises which benefitted us
massively. By doing these, we were able to gain filming
skills as we were required to make a short film with all
different shot types and camera angles involved. This
improved my production skills and gave me the confidence
to manipulate a camera while filming. We also took part
in a tabletop exercise which helped us with lighting
techniques, shot types, live action shooting as well as our
editing skills.
Planning
 As part of our planning,
we created multiple story
boards and planning
sheets to help us
brainstorm different
ideas.
 As our ideas begun to
develop, we created a call
sheet and different
character profiles to
introduce the main roles.
Editing
Initially, our editing took place on iMovie, at this point,
we were not overly familiar with editing software's,
however, with the ease of iMovie, we were able to quickly
and efficiently learn the application and increase the
amount of tricks we could include to make the film the
best it possibly can be after filming.
As we progressed into the editing, we moved over to final
cut pro where we had a large array of different editing
tools as well as the option to add titles with different
fonts and add transitions.
Overall,  Overall, all the research tasks completed before
helped us improve our production skills and gain a
stronger vision of our target audience. This meant it
was easier to market and advertise. We also created
social media pages as well as a film ident to
personalize our film to make it more enjoyable while
also having it customized.
