The presence of a large bulky pancreatic tumour in a young female should raise suspicions of the diagnosis of solid-pseduopapillary tumour of the pancreas.
Solid pseudopapillary neoplasms of the pancreas are uncommon, accounting for only 1-2% of all pancreatic neoplasms. These tumors are being detected at an increased rate, probably due to the increased awareness and the liberal use of imaging.

ABSTRACT
Objective: To determine the frequency of hepatitis C virus infection in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and to look for the common risk factors leading to this infection in diabetics. Study Design: Descriptive cross sectional study design. Place and Duration of Study: Department of Medicine, Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Kharian, from Jan 2015 to Jun 2015. Patients and Methods: This study was conducted in the department of Medicine, Combined Military Hospital Kharian. Through a descriptive cross sectional study design, a total of 140 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, admitted through casualty, OPD or private clinics were selected and tested for Hepatitis C virus infection. The common risk factors leading to such infection among positive cases were also scrutinized. Results: The mean age of patients was 48.82 ± 10.14 with 60.7% female gender predominating the overall sample of diabetics. Using 3rd generation ELISA method, hepatitis C virus was found in 45 (32.1%) of patients with 41-50 years of age group most commonly affected age group (34.7%) and female (57.8%) commonly affected gender. The distribution of risk factors leading to hepatitis C virus in diabetics are: 21 (46.7%) had history of surgery in the past, 13 (28.9%) had history of blood transfusion in the past, 7 (15.55%) had history of hemodialysis while only 4 (8.9%) had history of tattooing in the past. Conclusion: Hepatitis C virus infection is still a common problem in diabetic patients of our local population and we recommend further research work over its risk factors so that the guidelines for its control may be formulated. Background: Tuberculosis is one of the most ancient infectious diseases caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The population most affected is the young and economically productive one. The social factors include poor quality of life, poor housing, overcrowding, population explosion, under nutrition, lack of education, and last but not the least lack of awareness of cause of illness.
Aims and Objectives:
1. To study the clinical presentation of tuberculosis in patients.
2. To study various risk factors of tuberculosis.
Material and Methods: This study was conducted at selected designated microscopic centre (DMCs) Kanpur Nagar district has a population of 45.73lakh ( Census 2011).All the patients who were registered in the selected DMCs in the last one month of the year 2016 ( between April and May) were taken into consideration for the present study. Data was collected on predesigned and pretested questionnaire using direct personal interview method of patients at DMCs on the DOTS days of the week i.e Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Informed consent of the study subjects was taken before interview. A total of 105 registered patients were interviewed personally and also the treatment card of patients was obtained from their respective DMCs.
Results: Out of 105 cases of tuberculosis which reported at DMCs maximum no. of patients belongs to age group between 21-40 yrs of age group (58%). Majority of cases were married (65.7%) cases. (62%) cases were Hindu by religion and (58%) belongs to other backward caste. In the study we found majority of patient was illiterate (34.3%). Most common clinical presentation was cough, fever and cough with expectoration, anorexia was reported in (61.9 %) of cases (77%) were cigarette/bidi smokers, 60% were tobacco chewer. Diabetes was reported in (12.4%) cases and (3.8%) cases were HIV positive.

Kosavampatti Lake is a historical lake situated in Namakkal district. A lake usually helps in recharging groundwater, and the trees in and around the lake serve as a nesting place for birds. Zooplankton is the vital constituents of water flora which aids as the main component of the aquatic food chain. It sustains appropriate equilibrium between biotic and abiotic components of the water ecosystem. The present study aimed to deal with zooplankton diversity in Kosavampatti Lake. The investigation was carried out for 1 year, i.e., October 2017–September 2018. During the study period, the zooplankton population of Kosavampatti Lake water is characterized by five various classes, namely Protozoa, Cladocera, Copepoda, Ostracods, and Rotifera, with 19 different species which were noted and documented in Kosavampatti Lake. The main classes of Rotifera are the highest groups among zooplankton and the density of zooplankton community was higher in summer and lesser in monsoon. The results of various kinds of diversity indices strongly indicate that Kosavampatti Lake is absolutely polluted in nature.

Background: & Objectives: Urinary tract infection is one of the most commonly occurring infections among the patients with diabetes mellitus.
Methods This investigation was based to evaluate the incidence of UTI in patients with DM. Between January, 2013 to November, 1000 diabetic urine samples were collected. All urine samples were processed in the lab following standard laboratory protocol.
Results: A total of 25 UTI organisms were isolated from 361 urine samples collected from the diabetic patients attending the Department of Emergency, University Hospital Center "Mother Theresa” (QSUT) from. The incidence of UTI was recorded to 36.1%. Escherichia coli (54%) was found to be the major cause of UTI. About 5 different types of organisms isolated from the UTI samples were randomly chosen to test against the UTI antibiotics.
Interpretation & Conclusion: The antibiotic susceptibility pattern revealed that ciprofloxacin and nitrofurantoin were most effective to e.coli 79.6%, and 89.4%. These data may be used to determine trends in antimicrobial susceptibilities, to formulate local antibiotic policies and to assist clinicians in the choice of antibiotic therapy to prevent misuse, or overuse of antibiotics.

Background: Rotating night shift work imposes circadian strain and is linked to the risk of several
chronic diseases.
Purpose: To examine associations between rotating night shift work and all-cause; cardiovascular
disease (CVD); and cancer mortality in a prospective cohort study of 74,862 registered U.S. nurses
from the Nurses’ Health Study.
Methods: Lifetime rotating night shift work (defined as Z3 nights/month) information was
collected in 1988. During 22 years (1988–2010) of follow-up, 14,181 deaths were documented,
including 3,062 CVD and 5,413 cancer deaths. Cox proportional hazards models estimated
multivariable-adjusted hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% CIs.
Results: All-cause and CVD mortality were significantly increased among women withZ5 years of
rotating night shift work, compared to women who never worked night shifts. Specifically, for
women with 6–14 and Z15 years of rotating night shift work, the HRs were 1.11 (95% CI¼1.06,
1.17) and 1.11 (95% CI¼1.05, 1.18) for all-cause mortality and 1.19 (95% CI¼1.07, 1.33) and 1.23
(95% CI¼1.09, 1.38) for CVD mortality. There was no significant association between rotating night
shift work and all-cancer mortality (HRZ15years¼1.08, 95% CI¼0.98, 1.19) or mortality of any
individual cancer, with the exception of lung cancer (HRZ15years¼1.25, 95% CI¼1.04, 1.51).
Conclusions: Women working rotating night shifts for Z5 years have a modest increase in allcause
and CVD mortality; those working Z15 years of rotating night shift work have a modest
increase in lung cancer mortality. These results add to prior evidence of a potentially detrimental
effect of rotating night shift work on health and longevity.

Objective: To investigate the impact of cytokine levels (IL-1β, IL-6, IL-10, IFN-γ and TNF-α) and Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) load in the saliva and blood on the survival of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) recipients.
Study Design: Samples were obtained from 63 patients 7 days before and 21 days after allo-HSCT. Cytokine levels were assessed by ELISA, and HCMV load was determined by real-time PCR.
Results: The increase of IL-6 in the saliva and the reduction of IFN-γ in the blood before allo-HSCT were associated with increased risk of death. Moreover, the increase of IL-6 in the blood and of HCMV in the saliva after allo-HSCT were also associated with increased risk of death.
Conclusions: Cytokine levels and HCMV load were associated with the increased risk of death. The findings suggest a potential function of these biomarkers in the determination of allo-HSCT survival.

Background: HIV-infected women are at a higher risk of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and cancer than women in the general population, partly due to a high prevalence of persistent human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. The aim of the study was to assess the burden of HPV infection, cervical abnormalities, and cervical cancer among a cohort of HIV-infected women as part of a routine screening in an urban overpopulated slum setting in Mumbai, India.
Methods: From May 2010 to October 2010, Médecins Sans Frontières and Tata Memorial Hospital Mumbai offered routine annual Pap smears and HPV DNA testing of women attending an antiretroviral therapy (ART) clinic and a 12-month follow-up. Women with abnormal test results were offered cervical biopsy and treatment, including treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
Results: Ninety-five women were screened. Median age was 38 years (IQR: 33–41); median nadir CD4-count 143 cells/µL (IQR: 79–270); and median time on ART 23 months (IQR:10–41). HPV DNA was detected in 30/94 women (32%), and 18/94 (19%) showed either low-grade or high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (LSIL/HSIL) on Pap smear. Overall, >50% had cervical inflammatory reactions including STIs. Of the 43 women with a cervical biopsy, eight (8.4%) had CIN-1, five (5.3%) CIN-2, and two (2.1%) carcinoma in situ. All but one had HPV DNA detected (risk ratio: 11, 95% confidence interval: 3.3–34). By October 2011, 56 women had completed the 12-month follow-up and had been rescreened. No new cases of HPV infection/LSIL/HSIL were detected.
Conclusion: The high prevalence of HPV infection, STIs, and cervical lesions among women attending an ART clinic demonstrates a need for routine screening. Simple, one-stop screening strategies are needed. The optimal screening interval, especially when resources are limited, needs to be determined.

The rollout of antiretroviral therapy (ART) in South Africa has been tremendously successful in extending the lives of HIV-infected persons. Consequently, more patients who would have died before the availability of ART are now receiving a diagnosis of HIV-associated nephropathy.1
The rates of disease progression and death in the population of HIV-positive patients with chronic kidney disease can be modified by ART, which reduces the risk of advanced chronic kidney disease among patients with HIV-associated nephropathy by approximately 60%.2,3 It has been estimated that the prevalence of chronic kidney disease among HIV-infected patients receiving treatment is between 8% and 22%4-7; among untreated patients, it is estimated to be between 20% and 27%.8,9 Confronted with a high burden of HIV disease and limited resources, South Africa faces considerable challenges in providing renal-replacement therapy for the large numbers of HIV-infected persons in whom chronic kidney disease will develop during their lifetime.

All the students are post graduated and the results show that all of them have awareness from this disease.
Background: The incidence of abdominal tuberculosis is increasing. Preoperative diagnosis continues to
be the biggest challenge. Diagnosis is established only after histopathological examination. The modes of presentation
and therapeutic options need to be assessed. Objectives: To study the patterns of presentations, the extent of organ
involvement and therapeutic options. Materials and methods: Fifty histopathologically proven cases of abdominal
tuberculosis were studied. In addition, epidemiologic data, clinical patterns of presentation, diagnostic and various
surgical options, including outcomes, were studied. Results: The mortality in the study was 8%. The disease was
commonly seen in 21 to 40 years old and commonly seen in females. HIV positivity, anaemia and hypoproteinaemia
were associated with poor outcomes. Four types of presentations were observed. Diagnostic laparoscopy enabled early
histopathological diagnosis of biopsy specimens. Chemotherapy is the mainstay of treatment Surgery is a significant
adjunct in diagnosing and managing complications. Patients presenting with perforative peritonitis had a poor prognosis
Conclusion: Critical evaluation of chronic abdominal pain is essential. Supportive evidence such as the history of TB or
contact with a patient suffering from TB is highly suggestive of abdominal tuberculosis. Radiological tests are highly
suggestive but not diagnostic. Diagnostic laparoscopy enables tissue diagnosis. Chemotherapy accompanied by surgical
intervention for complications is the mainstay of treatment.

The increased availability of biomedical data, particularly in the public domain, offers the opportunity to better understand human health and to develop effective therapeutics for a wide range of unmet medical needs. However, data scientists remain stymied by the fact that data remain hard to find and to productively reuse because data and their metadata i) are wholly inaccessible, ii) are in non-standard or incompatible representations, iii) do not conform to community standards, and iv) have unclear or highly restricted terms and conditions that preclude legitimate reuse. These limitations require a rethink on data can be made machine and AI-ready - the key motivation behind the FAIR Guiding Principles. Concurrently, while recent efforts have explored the use of deep learning to fuse disparate data into predictive models for a wide range of biomedical applications, these models often fail even when the correct answer is already known, and fail to explain individual predictions in terms that data scientists can appreciate. These limitations suggest that new methods to produce practical artificial intelligence are still needed.
In this talk, I will discuss our work in (1) building an integrative knowledge infrastructure to prepare FAIR and "AI-ready" data and services along with (2) neurosymbolic AI methods to improve the quality of predictions and to generate plausible explanations. Attention is given to standards, platforms, and methods to wrangle knowledge into simple, but effective semantic and latent representations, and to make these available into standards-compliant and discoverable interfaces that can be used in model building, validation, and explanation. Our work, and those of others in the field, creates a baseline for building trustworthy and easy to deploy AI models in biomedicine.

Dr. Michel Dumontier is the Distinguished Professor of Data Science at Maastricht University, founder and executive director of the Institute of Data Science, and co-founder of the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) data principles. His research explores socio-technological approaches for responsible discovery science, which includes collaborative multi-modal knowledge graphs, privacy-preserving distributed data mining, and AI methods for drug discovery and personalized medicine. His work is supported through the Dutch National Research Agenda, the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research, Horizon Europe, the European Open Science Cloud, the US National Institutes of Health, and a Marie-Curie Innovative Training Network. Observation of Io’s Resurfacing via Plume Deposition Using Ground-based Adapt...Sérgio Sacani
Since volcanic activity was first discovered on Io from Voyager images in 1979, changes
on Io’s surface have been monitored from both spacecraft and ground-based telescopes.
Here, we present the highest spatial resolution images of Io ever obtained from a groundbased telescope. These images, acquired by the SHARK-VIS instrument on the Large
Binocular Telescope, show evidence of a major resurfacing event on Io’s trailing hemisphere. When compared to the most recent spacecraft images, the SHARK-VIS images
show that a plume deposit from a powerful eruption at Pillan Patera has covered part
of the long-lived Pele plume deposit. Although this type of resurfacing event may be common on Io, few have been detected due to the rarity of spacecraft visits and the previously low spatial resolution available from Earth-based telescopes. The SHARK-VIS instrument ushers in a new era of high resolution imaging of Io’s surface using adaptive
optics at visible wavelengths.

The ambient solar wind that flls the heliosphere originates from multiple
sources in the solar corona and is highly structured. It is often described
as high-speed, relatively homogeneous, plasma streams from coronal
holes and slow-speed, highly variable, streams whose source regions are
under debate. A key goal of ESA/NASA’s Solar Orbiter mission is to identify
solar wind sources and understand what drives the complexity seen in the
heliosphere. By combining magnetic feld modelling and spectroscopic
techniques with high-resolution observations and measurements, we show
that the solar wind variability detected in situ by Solar Orbiter in March
2022 is driven by spatio-temporal changes in the magnetic connectivity to
multiple sources in the solar atmosphere. The magnetic feld footpoints
connected to the spacecraft moved from the boundaries of a coronal hole
to one active region (12961) and then across to another region (12957). This
is refected in the in situ measurements, which show the transition from fast
to highly Alfvénic then to slow solar wind that is disrupted by the arrival of
a coronal mass ejection. Our results describe solar wind variability at 0.5 au
but are applicable to near-Earth observatories.

The return of a sample of near-surface atmosphere from Mars would facilitate answers to several first-order science questions surrounding the formation and evolution of the planet. One of the important aspects of terrestrial planet formation in general is the role that primary atmospheres played in influencing the chemistry and structure of the planets and their antecedents. Studies of the martian atmosphere can be used to investigate the role of a primary atmosphere in its history. Atmosphere samples would also inform our understanding of the near-surface chemistry of the planet, and ultimately the prospects for life. High-precision isotopic analyses of constituent gases are needed to address these questions, requiring that the analyses are made on returned samples rather than in situ.

tumour in a young female should raise
suspicions of the diagnosis of solid-
pseduopapillary tumour of the pancreas.
Solid pseudopapillary neoplasms of the
pancreas are uncommon, accounting for only 1-
2% of all pancreatic neoplasms. These tumors
are being detected at an increased rate,
probably due to the increased awareness and
the liberal use of imaging.
