• WATER ISTHE BASIC NECESSITY FORTHE
FUNCTIONAING OF ALL FORMS OF LIFETHAT EXIST
ON EARTH. IT IS SAFETO SAYTHAT WATER ISTHE
REASON BEHIND EARTH BEINGTHE ONLY PLANET
WHICH SUPPORTS LIFE. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR LIFETO
FUNCTION WITHOUTWATER.
ANDHRA PRADESH.
• Andhra pradesh is know as the rice bowl of India and also
called the spice reign of india.
• There are about 40 minor and major rivers which flow
through Andhra Pradesh.
• The major rivers are the Godavari river, Krishna , Nagavali
and Pennar are the interstate rivers
• Godavari river: 1,465 kms
• Krishna river; 1,400 kms
• Nagavali river: 256.5 kms
Pennar river: 597 kms
GODAVARI RIVER
• The Dam which supplies the waters of gadavari is the
Jayakwadi Dam.
• The origin of Godavari is from the Brahmagiri mountains.
• The Godavari river connects with many others states also
. Like Maharastra ,Telangana eg….
• The soil present on the godavari delta is alluvial soil which
supports the wide growth of rice, wheat sugarcane and
many more.
KRISHNA RIVER
• The Dams which supplies the water of river Krishnais the
Pulichinthala dam, narayanpur dam.
• The origin of river Krishna is mahabaleshwar.
• This river connects with many other states like Karnataka,
Telangana eg…
PROGRAMSTO CONSERVEWATER IN
ANDHRA PRADESH.
• Andhra Pradesh Government has launched a water
conservation program of Feb 12 , 2018 which lasted until
june 7, 2018. as the part of the the program , repair for
water tanks, interlinking of tanks, silting streams,
cleaning lakes and drains and constructions of dams and
other water conservation and preservation methods were
taken care.
PUNJAB.
• There are a total of 5 rivers which flow through punjab, in
which only three rivers that is Sutlej, Ravi and Beas, and
the other two rivers that are Chenab , Jhelum are now
situated in Pakistan.
• Sutlej river : 1050 kms
• Ravi river : 725 kms
• Beas river : 460 kms
RIVER SUTLEJ
• The river Sutlej is the longest river which flows through
Punjab.
• The Dam which takes and supplies the waters of the
Sutlej river is the Bharka dam.
• The origin of Sutlej is the Mount Kailash.
RIVER RAVI
• The ravi river is a transboundary river crossing
northwestern india and eastern pakistan . It is one of the
six rivers of the indus system in punjab region.
• The ranjit sagar dam , also known as the thein dam, is a
part of the hydroelectric project constructed by the
punjab irrigation department on the ravi river .
• Also 60% of the river is the part of jammu and kashmir..
RIVER BEAS
• The Beas river is a river which rises in the Himalayas
in central Himchal pradesh , and flows for some 470
kms to the Sutlej , and its drainage basin is 20,303
square kilometers large.
• The origin of the river Beas rohtang la.
• The dam built on this river is the Pong Dam.
• The old name of this river is Vipasha.

• Laying of undergroung pipeline for irrigation from
tubewells , canal outlets etc..
• Drip irrigation
• Micro sprinkler irrigation
• Lift irrigation projects
• Construction & maintenance of common water courses.
