1. Our Challenge
We have a lot going on. The resource of our network is fantastic and allows us to do so much
more with our time, to do things bigger, and better… but we cannot run solely on volunteer time.
Currently we:
• have some sponsorship / supporter funding.
• have the ability to charge for some activities – CSR / employee engagement and have a few
warm contacts
• are too young for most grant funding (12 month) but also do not want to be tied to or shaped
by funding criteria.
• We need to develop a sustainable income model to support the work of the core team and
core activities.
Is this…. Membership? Products? Chargeable services? Fundraising? Something else?
2. What business models should we consider to as a short and/or long term income strategy?
Considerations:
• We are exploring the route of providing a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) service to help
companies deliver their CSR programme, meet targets and engage staff.
• We would use the projects being presented to us by third sector organisations.
- Do we would need a varied stream of projects to meet the need
- Or do we find out the need and then get the projects to match
• Who are the right targets? Creative businesses or large corporates with creative functions –
or both?
• This has a high project management function attached and would require clear outcomes
and targets
• A broker of good causes for companies to support – less delivery needed but lower cost work
• A membership structure
• This will help us to retain business but at what cost - memberships require significant
communications and engagement strategies)
