1. Causal Argument Essay
Writing a causal argument essay can be a challenging endeavor, requiring a thoughtful and
analytical approach to explore the relationships between cause and effect. The difficulty lies not
only in presenting a compelling thesis but also in providing well-researched evidence and logical
reasoning to support it.
Firstly, crafting a strong thesis statement that clearly outlines the causal relationship can be a
complex task. It demands a deep understanding of the topic and the ability to identify the
primary cause and its subsequent effects. A vague or poorly formulated thesis can undermine the
entire essay, making it essential to invest time and effort in refining this central argument.
Additionally, gathering relevant and reliable evidence to support the causal chain is crucial. This
involves thorough research, critical analysis of sources, and the ability to discern correlations
from causations. The writer must be meticulous in selecting examples, statistics, and anecdotes
that not only bolster their argument but also contribute to a coherent and persuasive narrative.
Furthermore, constructing a logical flow within the essay requires careful consideration.
Connecting the causes to their effects in a coherent and organized manner can be challenging.
The essay should unfold logically, with each paragraph contributing to the overall understanding
of the causal relationship. A lack of clarity or a disjointed structure can confuse the reader and
weaken the essay's impact.
Lastly, addressing counterarguments and potential objections is an integral part of a causal
argument essay. Anticipating opposing viewpoints and providing counter-evidence demonstrates
a thorough understanding of the topic and enhances the essay's persuasiveness. This, however,
demands additional research and critical thinking, adding to the complexity of the writing
process.
In conclusion, writing a causal argument essay is a demanding task that requires a combination
of analytical skills, research prowess, and effective communication. Crafting a compelling thesis,
gathering robust evidence, maintaining logical coherence, and addressing counterarguments are
all challenges that must be navigated with care. Despite the difficulty, a well-executed causal
argument essay can be a powerful tool for conveying complex ideas and influencing readers.

3. The Five Types of Organizational Structure
Manager s of an organization has to use structure to help the company run efficiently.
The five types of organizational structures are functional, divisional, matrix, team
based, and virtual network (Draft, 2013, p.316). Functional structure in an
organization that is developed by grouping departments by the skills, level of
knowledge, activities done daily, and the resource used. This structure places specific
departments from the bottom to the top (Draft, 2013, p.318). For example, specific
departments such as: human resources, accounting, engineering, and manufacturing
are placed at the top, while there are mostly seen at the bottom in other organizations.
While common functions such as; people, facilities, and other resources are
combined together as a single department instead of being divided into multiple
departments. Divisional structure is known by the approach of having similar skills
and resources grouped together into divisions (Draft, 2013, p.318). This occurs when
a company has common goals that the company wants to achieve. This allows all
skills and departments to come together and produce the goal there are looking to
achieve. In this type of structure not one person is viewed as important than the next
one, because it takes everyone to work together to produce the outcome the company
wants to achieve. The matrix structure uses both functional and divisional structures
to run an organization (Draft, 2013, p.321). This allows the company to

6. Descriptive Essay About Friendship
It was 12 o clock at night and for the first time it was quiet, other than police sirens
and cars honking at each other it was quiet. I was trying to go to sleep but I couldn t.
So I headed downstairs and grabbed a warm glass of milk to help me sleep. That didn
t do any good so I just went to my computer to see what my friends were doing. (if
they were online) So I opened up skype and began to call my friends. Surprisingly
they were online.
There was me summer who had had really good grades and was also was pretty. (
think) Then there was Clem, we ve been best friends for a long time, she had
blonde hair and blue eyes, I always thought she was pretty. Then there s Jeffy, he s
addicted to eating hot cheetos and I don t know why but his whole kitchen was in
his room. I like him but sometimes he can be a little weird. And finally Kyle, he was
also my best friend but a little nerdy, not confident, and always stuttering.
I asked if anybody knew how to go to sleep. Because I didn t feel sleepy at all. All
of them said they didn t know how to, and they re dealing with the same issue as
me. I noticed someone that shouldn t belong in our group chat. We didn t invite
him to our group call. So we thought it was a glitch. So I told my friends to exit the
call and call me back because it was distracting us. So when they called me back it
was still there. I was a little creeped out because this would never happen in real life.
But then we soon the glitch had a typing symbol indicating

8. Human Pollination On Bees
Are we obligated to protect and secure the future of the bees? Humankind tends to
take for granted where our food comes from and do not think twice about it, let
alone the process of pollination. The manner in which we regard the bees not only
has an effect on us but, it also affects a multitude of species. However, we are able
to do our part to lessen our negative impact on the bees. If educating humankind
would alleviate suffering of many species such as bees, we would then be
obligated to save the them. Bees are some of the most feared insects on the planet
but aside from their sting they are quite a complex and beneficial creature. There
are over 20,000 species of bees on the planet (Spivak,2013). They are often
associated with honey however, they play a far more important role, they pollinate.
Bees are responsible for about 80 percent of pollination worldwide and a single
colony is able to pollinate upwards of 300 million flowers each day
(Greenpeace.org). Although there are ways for human pollination it is often a
painstaking and time consuming process. Studies have also shown that human
pollination is not as effective (Spivak, 2013)). With 90 percent of the worlds
nutrition dependent upon bees we need to support the bees with pollination

The first place we can begin is banning the most harmful and dangerous pesticides
and use alternative methods. We can also preserve wild habitats and provide native
flowers as food for the bees. Additionally, writing to local governments, protesting
industrial building and waste and educating yourself on the environment around you
will also prove beneficial to the bees. Finally, we can begin to restore ecological
agriculture and encourage farmers to plant groundcover that bees use for
9. Example Of A Superego In Regarding Henry
Regarding Henry A film we recently watched in class, Regarding Henry, portrays
the battle between the Id and superego. Henry Turner is a despicable lawyer whose
life is turned sideways when he is shot in the head during a robbery. Previous to the
incident Henry was an example of a superego as his natural state. Soon he would
be flipped where he is more controlled the pleasures in life presented by the id. The
movie does not Henry s natural state very obviously, though from what the movie
showed I am led to believe it is his Id. The Id is the part of the brain the focuses on
the pleasures someone s life. In Regarding Henry, Henry displays his Id in the
scene in which he went to go get cigarettes. He wanted them right then and there; he
had no patience to wait. Another example is when he refuses to leave the rehab
center. He knew they wanted him to leave as well as his family, yet he still didn t
want to leave. The last one the stood out was when Henry left the house when he
knew he wasn t supposed to leave, not only that but returning with a puppy. He
completely disregarded his superego that would have probably been telling him the
requirements that came with the dog.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Henry demonstrates an example of his superego when he apologizes to Rachel. He
really did not mean his apology though he knew it was right to do after scolding
her. Another case is after he was shot he goes to the Ritz hotel. While he was there
one of his co workers came to him and told him of an affair they used to have there a
few times a week. Henry soon leaves the room knowing what was going on was

Entry 1
I just set out on my great Alaskan adventure. This may not be my first day in Alaska
but this definitely the start of my true adventure. I am alone out here. The only other
living creatures here are the animals. I have prepared for this. I know I am ready.
After leaving the last man who I hitchhiked with I set out on the trail. He offered me
a sandwich that I am currently eating while sitting here and contemplating my
surroundings. The land is vast and the stampede trail seems almost never ending.
It is cold but not unbearable so. I plan to forage for dinner using my guides to find
edible plants and berries. This may be my last big adventure I take on. The reason
for that may be my own choice or the choice of nature. Things look good at the
moment and I do not see a reason for that to change. I don t get lonely easily and I
don t particular seek out human companionship, but I do feel as if I may start to

will soon start to lose my grip and succumb to starvation. I have very little to support
myself and I am in a very unhealthy state. I believe this is caused by something I have
eaten. All I can say at this point is I am happy I was able to experience this before I
died. I was able to live up to the writing I gained my inspiration from. Like
Huckleberry Finn and the premise of Jack London s novels I have rejected what I
saw wrong with society and lived to my own accord. I am content with how I have
lived my life over these last few years, and I believe I made the correct choice to
come out here. I just truly hope I am able to receive help soon. So I guess this may

11. Compare And Contrast City Life And Country Life
City life vs. Country life People say home is where the heart is, but what is home?
For some, home is a place where they can sit on the front porch and drink sweet tea,
while others see home as the place where they were raised. For me, home is where I
have the most cherished memories. After living in the cityand the country, I have
come to the conclusionthat life in the country is where my heart is. My lifestyle in
the country consisted of similarities and differences than what it did in the city. What
draws me more to country is the ability to enjoy the outdoor space, the quality time
spent celebrating with family and friends, and learning the important life skills of

There was a sufficient amount of room for everyone to fit comfortably without

Parking during our celebrations was never an issue as there was enough clearance
to park and maneuver around each others vehicles without parking on the street.
My family and I didn t realize the advantages we had living on a significant amount
of land until we moved to the city. In our new home, when my friends would come

was diminutive and if we did go outside, we had to be in the front yard and watch

Abortion. Who decides?
ABORTION. A controversial issue. Whether you are pro life or pro choice. The
most life changing event of my life was just that. An abortion. A choice that many

How I went from living a carefree life to being pregnant at sixteen. What brought me
to my decision and what life was like before, during and after the abortion. And how
it forever changed my life.
In 2001, I was sixteen years old. A junior at Gardena High School, in Los Angeles,
California. I was walking home and an older, much older, guy was standing
outside of the gate at high school and simply asked for my phone number. At the
time, I knew he was older, but my assumption was eighteen, nineteen. Only later to
find out, after I was already pregnant, that he was more like twenty three years of
age. With two kids, already. It was short lived. Not even long enough to consider it
a relationship . We hung out and messed around for a few months before I became
pregnant. Once I became pregnant, he wanted nothing to do with me. My parents
found out and I wasn t really given an option to keep the child. Even though I wasn
t told I had to have an abortion, I was told I couldn t stay with either of my
divorced parents if I decided to keep the child. So, my choice was made for me.
But to be honest, I didn t know if I would have wanted to keep the child or not. Had
I not been given those ultimatums, I m not sure if I
13. The Gogol Grotesque Characters
Grotesque Characters When talking about the grotesque uncertainty and confusion is
often common because when someone or something is grotesque it is out of the
norm we don t usually see or hear about it. In Gogol s The Nose the grotesque is
present throughout the whole story and especially with the two main characters Ivan
Yakovlevich and Collegiate Assessor Kovalyov. A reader of this story will notice the
similarities and the differences that these two characters share. This response to The
Nosewill compare and contrast the two main characters and show how they are
grotesque. The title of this story alone should tell the reader that this is most likely
about a nose or something pertaining to that particular body part which is different.
The title alone can make the reader ask questions before they even start to read the
story. As one may read and find out that the story is about a nose and how Collegiate
Assessor Kovalyov (also referred to as major) loses his nose. As Ivan Yakovlevich is
sitting down to eat a roll he feels something in the roll. He pokes two fingers in and
pulled out a nose! (Gogol 113). Ivan freaks out as any normal person would do and
decides to get rid of the evidence and drops it off a bridge. The major on the other
hand wakes up one morning to find he has lost his nose and has no idea where it is.
He later finds his nose acting as a person who has a rank that is three higher than
his. The major even tries to talk his own nose and holds a

PERSONAL ADVOCACY SPEECH PLAN
Title: Your little ways make a big difference
Specific Speech Purpose: At the end of the speech, Comm 3 audience will have
been convinced to help or to encourage, in their own ways, less privileged children to
go to school.
Statement: We can help children appreciate the value of education.
INTRODUCTION
I.Attention Step: My parents are among those parents who tell their children that,
education is the most precious treasure I can give you. Growing up, the value of
education has really been instilled among the four of us and almost everything that
we need for school is being provided. I saw my parents sacrifices to make sure that
we go on with our studies conveniently. Perhaps these are some of the factors why
education is so close to my heart and why, as early as now, I want to help or
encourage children go to school. It really moves my heart whenever I see people
walking miles just to go to school or working part time job to sustain their education.
I admire them for persevering despite the challenges that they face.
II.Clarification Step: This is still the reality that we are facing that there are
Filipino children who are confronted by many challenges that hinder them from
going to school. Many of them, despite their perseverance, have already given up;
some are still persevering; and some did not even have the chance to receive
primary education. I am saying this because I believe that you too value education
as much as I do. I also believe that, in one way or another, you want to do something
for our less privileged brothers and sisters who want to go to school. And I urge you
to start doing it now.
BODY
I.Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.

15. The National Banking Act Of 1863
BACKGROUND:
Banking in the United States is a better known as the declaration of the growth of
capitalism and free enterprise. Adam Smith, a well known economist, referred to
capitalist banking as the invisible hand guiding the path of allocation through goods
and services throughout the economy. Commercial and investment banking quickly
became the leading hands in the economy, as financial resources was a common
scarcity in environments. Merchant banks that were privately owned performed the
capital distribution function. During the civil war, commercial banks were state
chartered financial institutions. Many banks were under capitalized, as they were

They also offer credit cards and payments card services to both individual consumers
and retail wholesalers alike.
Commercial Banking:
As commercial banks first came about, they were presented as brick mortar,
comprised with safe deposit boxes, vaults, tellers and ATMs. Today, we live in a very
fast paces world. Technological advances have allowed global economies to bank
online at personal and professional leisure. As some commercial banks do not
require a physical location, they save a lot of money in ancillary charges, such as
rent, utilities and property taxes. At times they may offer higher interest rates on
deposits, investments and charge lower fees as well.
Commercial banking provides consumers and potential customers with various
financial services, such as deposits and loans, in a means of ensuring social stability,
economic stability, and sustainable growth of the economy. Commercial banks offer
a large range of investment products. While these products are not only for the use of
personal accounts, they are also put to great use within organizations. Savings
accounts, certificates of deposit, business loans, auto loans and mortgages are all
examples of products that are offered in commercial banking. Due to the fact that
certificates of deposit, saving and checking accounts are secured by the Federal
Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in the United States, customers and
consumers are
16. Summary Of Legal Alien By Pat Mora
In Pat Mora s poem Legal Alien , the speaker uses language to undermine the single
story that people of two cultures can only belong within one category; thus
asserting the danger of isolation from both cultures that accompanies this single
story. Mora uses a comparison to highlight how a two sided object can be conjoined
to create one cohesive item. Comparing themself to a handy token the speaker
references the ability to have two cultures, yet remain as one person. The metaphor
asserts that the speaker is similar to a token, which is an object of two sides, yet one
complete object. In the context of the speakers two competing cultures Mexican and

The speaker claims that they are pre judged bi laterally. The use of the verb pre
judged, illustrates how the speaker, will always be mistaken for who they are not.
Their true identity can t be revealed, due to the fact that they are already judged
and the single story has already been created. Further, Mora adds bi laterally , to
reveal how the judging takes place on both sides, or by the two cultures. This
begins to reveal the danger of isolation that comes with the single story. As
Mexicans learn the speaker is American, the speaker becomes alien. As Americans
learn the speaker is Mexican, the speaker becomes exotic... inferior...[and] different.
The speaker will constantly be misinterpreted for who they are not, based on their
cultural identities. As bi cultural people are pre judged, they don t get a chance to
display their true demeanors, due to the fact that society can t look beyond their
first impressions. The speaker can t be accepted, and is too foreign to be classified
as both cultures. As a result, the speaker faces

particular type of propertythat you want to offer to the foreign buyers, the first thing
to do is defining their possible motivation and then trying to meet their goals in your
promotion. We will talk about the reasons why foreigners buy real estatein other
countries in more details further, but here we just name a few. Residential
properties: the foreigners buy abroad for vacationing, staying while on business
trips, family living, for their children attending schools in your country and for
income, too. Each country and area can attract different types of foreign buyers
and from various countries, so it is a must for you as a private seller, developer or
realtor first of all to outline a profile of your target foreign buyers (country or
countries they might come from, goals of buying, budgets they are ready to spend
based on some statistics available). Then you will be ready to plan your direction of

18. Thermoregulation Mechanism in the Human Body
Previous studies have not considered the temperature control mechanisms of human
body when a conflicting information is received from peripheral and central
thermoreceptors. Our experiment was designed to investigate how the
thermoregulation mechanism was activated when there was a passive heating to the
human body and to find out how the body would react to the situation when the
human was experiencing the heating and cooling simultaneously. Our first
hypothesis was accepted, where the body regulated cutaneous vasodilation to
enhance heat loss through sweat evaporation and all the respiratory parameters
were increased in order to supply the higher demand of oxygen. However, the
second hypothesis was rejected, as the peripheral control had more influence than
central control when the body received increased temperature to the leg and
decreased temperature at the same time. Heating period The results have clearly
demonstrated that during the heating period, there was a decrease in skin resistance
and total peripheral resistance (TPR) alongside an increase in heart rate (HR),
cardiac output (CO) and peripheral skin temperature, as compared to the relatively
stable core and oral temperature, shown in figures 6, 7, 9 and 12. The metabolic rate
and respiratory parameters (Respiratory rate, oxygen consumption, tidal volume and
minute ventilation) were also increased as seen in figures 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. A
significant decrease in respiratory rate and minute ventilation at 30 min of

Thermo catalytic Degradation of Waste Polythene into lubricants using Zeolite
Mr. Amol Vagad Department of Instrumentation Engineering,
MCT s Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology,
Mumbai, India amolvagad@gmail.com ABSTRACT: Waste polythene primarily in
the form of used polythene bags, comprises of most of the plastic pollution caused in
India. Many processes have been developed to combat this issue which includes
pyrolysis and catalytic cracking. This paper states an experiment that was carried out
using catalytic cracking using Zeolite (ZSM 5). The catalyst in presence of heat
helped to break down the polymer molecules. The experiment gave a product which
consisted of 80% grease. The obtained product can be used for various industrial and
domestic applications where lubrication is required. The recyclable nature of the
catalyst makes this process efficient, affordable as well as environment friendly.
KEYWORDS: polythene, pyrolysis, catalytic cracking, Zeolite, grease.

21. Biblical And Mythological Allusions Of Moby Dick
Moby Dick is Herman Melville s masterpiece, a purposeful novel that acts both as a
documentary of a sea voyage but also a philosophical allusion on life as a whole.
Moby Dick is far beyond its time in reference to its use of allusion within its text.
In this novel, Herman Melville frequently uses biblical and mythological allusions.
With these strategic allusions, the reader is able to begin to understand the topics
of discussion within the book and is also exposed to the wisdom and potential
knowledge Melville possesses. Melville uses many Biblical and mythological
references in the form of character stories, which I found beneficial in helping
interpret the texts meaning (Howard, 27). This paper will discuss the Biblical and
Mythological allusions that Melville s use in Moby Dickin the hopes to develop a
deeper understanding of the issues Melville was hoping to address. An Allusion is a
brief and indirect reference to a well known person, place, thing, cultural, historical,
or literary work (Delahunty, 24). As Described by Andrew Delahunty in the Oxford
Dictionary of Reference and Allusion, allusions form a colorful extension to the
English language, drawing on our collective knowledge of literature, mythology, and
the Bible to help us connect and interpret literature (26). Though an allusion is used
to reference something significant, it does not describe in detail the person or thing
to which it is referring too. Writers often use allusions as just a passing comment

inheritance of his merchant grandfather. He was born into a prominent abolitionists
family. Abolitionists are people who wanted slavery to end. His parents were
Francis George Shaw and Sarah Blake Sturgis Shaw, and he had four sisters: Anna,
Josephine, Susannah and Ellen. He was a Unitarian. A Unitarian is a person,
especially a Christian, who asserts the unity of God and rejects the doctrine of the
Trinity. Robert Gould Shaw moved with his familyto a large estate in West Roxbury,
adjacent to Brook Farm when he was five. In his teens, Shaw spent some years
studying and traveling to Switzerland, Italy, Hanover, Norway and Sweden. After a
while, his family moved... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the Shenandoah Valley Campaign, the 2nd Infantry was ordered to cover
the retreat from Strasburg, Virginia in the battle at Front Royal on May 23, 1862.
In this engagement Shaw received a minor wound and was recognized by his men
for exhibiting courage and a cool composure during the fight. But the 2nd Infantry
would not experience their real baptism of fire until the Northern Virginia Campaign
at the Cedar Mountain wheatfield, August 9, 1862. The regiment suffered terrible
losses and would be tested again on September 17 at the Battle of Antietam,
considered the bloodiest single day in the war. Shaw, now a captain in the unit,
received a minor wound but felt the excitement of the battle as never before.
However, after experiencing the horrors of this event, he wished more than ever that
the war would end. Shaw was offered a deal to take command of a new All Black
Regiment. At first, he declined the offer, but after further thought he accepted the
23. Wife Of Bath Feminist Analysis
The Wife of Bath in The Canterbury Tales is a figure that is better known than
some of the others. Why is this? Many people believe it is because she is a sort of
personified feminism; the sort Chaucer experienced in his day. In this essay we
will explore and interpret different aspects of and her tale to identify why she
appears to be a feminist icon and why this is a fair depiction for early feminismand
modern third wave feminism that we see now but so not so much so for other forms
of feminism.
First let us review her tale. In the tale a knight is riding along until he comes across a
woman. He then in spite of all she said, by force took her maidenhead (Lines 63 and
64), that is a nice way to say he violently raped her. Afterward he is taken into court
where the queen takes pity upon him and gives him the task of finding out what
women most desire but if he fails he will be executed. The knight then searches
about for the answer asking every woman he can find for the answer to his
question. He gets conflicting answers from each woman he asks until he comes
across an old hag. The hag makes a deal with him that she will give him the answer
if he carries out any request of her choice when she calls for it later on, to which the
knight agrees. The hag tells him that what women most desire is power over men.
The knight gives this answer to the queen who spares him. When he returns to the
hag she makes her request, Before this court I ask you, sir knight, to
24. The Importance Of The Somme On The Home Front
In 1916, the battle of the Somme began, intending to end the war for the allies. It
pitted an unexperienced British army, against a professional German one. It was also,
however significant in many ways. Two of the main areas where the battle of the
Somme was significant were in its military value, and the reactions it caused, on the
home front. The battle of the Somme, intended to end the war that year, had
ambitious objectives, it was significant for failing to achieve almost all of these.
One of these was Beaumont Hamel, a fortified village behind the German lines.
The Battle plan called for the village to be taken on the first day. The fact that the
village was not taken until the very end of the battle on the 13th of November,
illustrates how much the plan failed. Demonstrating the level to which the plan
failed Private Anthony Stacey reports that this was a death trap for our boys as the
enemy just set the sights of their machine guns on the gaps in the barbed wire and
fired . Another objective, Serre, was not taken at all. In fact, the British staff were so
unaware of modern weapons, that they had cavalry ready to attack after the infantry
broke through. This is significant as it shows how inexperienced the British armywas
when it came to trench warfare. Had the staff understood the trench tactics better, they
would not have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the Somme entire pal s battalions were wiped out, leading to an entire
village losing their troops in the army at once. For example, at Accrington, where
during one week 584 of 720 men were killed. To reduce this loss, the British army
began putting men from the same area into different battalions, so that losses to a
village or town were spread

Nursing Delegation: A Professional Challenge
The purpose of this paper is to prove delegating effectively will provide positive
patient outcome, but if done ineffectively can lead to errors resulting in patient harm
or death. Nursing delegation brings upon a shared responsibility to the tasks at hand
to those who can do the appropriate work. The one who will delegate or prioritize
tasks must be knowledgeable, skilled and competent in knowing their staff.
Delegation consists of knowing the team members scopes of practice and
appropriately assigning tasks for those in the team to complete in a given situation.
Delegation entails knowing who can be delegated what task, proper communication
of said task, and more importantly follow up of assigned task. In nursing, delegation
requires the nurse to have knowledge of what he/she can delegate and to whom they
can delegate. Effective delegation requires clear, concise and direct orders.
Delegation is not as simple as giving out an assignment/task to be done. All licensed
providers have an understanding and are responsible to adhere to policies given to
them designated by state governmental jurisdictions or by hospital protocols. The ...

29. The Period Of The Antebellum South
The period of the antebellum south was among the most burdensome times for
African American slaves, especially females. During the early 1800s the lives of
enslaved women were extremely demanding. The female slaves were expected to
bear children, as well as were required to work just as hard as the male slaves on the
plantation. Days were long and laborious for slave mothers, they had to make sure
that all the work that needed to be done was completed, and also care for their
children. Female slaves jobs varied from housework, to fieldwork. Slave mothers
knew that giving up on their work was not an option, they had to persevere for
their families. Motherhood and work went hand in hand for female slaves, one
was not able to do one and not the other. Field labor was an unavoidable task that
was fulfilled by nearly all slaves in the antebellum south. There was no gender
discrimination in the fields, female slaves had to perform almost all of the
plantation chores. Some of the chores female slaves were obligated to complete
were picking, hoeing, plowing, mending fences, burning fields, weeding, planting,
and harvesting. The work day was long and grueling, slaves worked from sunrise to
the sunset. Working the fields was a strenuous job, however it was not done alone.
They acquired the opportunity to work beside other female slaves. The groups of
female slaves in the fields were called gangs. The gangs often sang, talked quietly, and
passed along confidential information.

32. Shot Clocks In Schools Essay
Basketball today is one of the leading sports when is it comes to entertainment.
This sport is known to have an incredibly high amount of supporters. There is
something about the sport that thrills and excites its viewers. This sport is very
entertaining because it of its fast scoring and its high pace of things. However, I
am sure we have all witnessed a game of stalling were teams refuse to pass the ball
in order to prevent the opposing team from scoring. In the United States today only
eight states allow unlimited use of 30 or 35 second shot clock in high school
basketballgames. Shot clocks are designed to increase the pace of the placers and
prevent any type of stalling. It is clear that many basketball teams take advantage
of not having a shot clock. This is an issue because teams appear to purposely take
up time to prevent opposing teams from scoring. Not only does it take away from
the actual purpose and meaning of the game but it hurts the players when it comes to
transitioning to the next level of basketball. The use of shot clocks at high school
basketball games is a change that must occur. Every school in the united states should
be encouraged to use shot clocks at high school games.
The only way to prevent teams from taking advantage of the regulation time would
be to encourage all lower level basketball games to require the use of shot clocks at
each game. The use of shot clocks would encourage all teams to use their actual
abilities and talents to win

Cyrano De Bergerac by Edmond Rostand it is a about a man named Cyrano with an

outer conflicts. He tries to win the woman he loves, but she is in lovewith someone

Roxanne ask Cyrano to protect Christian and not let him get in any duels to keep
him safe. Cyrano agrees to do this because of Roxanne s request of him to do so.
He hides his love for her in protecting Christian. He feels that through him
protecting Christian it will make her happy. Also he protects Christian out of his
love for Roxanne. Nervous Christian says, I need eloquence and I have none!
Optimistic Cyrano responds saying, I ll lend you mine! Lend me your physical
conquering charm, and together we ll form a romantic hero! Confused Christian
says, what do you mean? Explaining Cyrano says, do you feel evocable of
repeating what I tell you every day? (Page 56) Cyrano and Christina are talking
about Cyrano writing the love letters to Roxanne for Christian because Christian
doesn t have the words of a poet like Cyrano does. Now because Cyrano is writing
the love letters to Roxanne while he can express all his feelings and thoughts
secretly. He knows this will make her happy getting love letters from Christian. It
still conflicts with his love for her because she doesn t know it is actually Cyrano
who is writing the letters. Why he cannot write love letters to Roxanne from
himself he can make her happy my writing love letters to her, having her think they
are from Christian. Angry Roxanne says, it was you! Nervous and confused

34. Maggie And Dee
In the short story, Everyday Use, Alice Walker uses her contrasting characters of
Maggie and Dee to show a cultural split. Dee, the eldest daughter, comes home to
visit her family who lives a very traditional way of life. Dee has gone to college and
lives a more modernist lifestyle, whereas her sister Maggie has not gone to school
and lives a more traditionalist lifestyle. This difference between the sisters shows the
division in the 1960 s between a traditionalist and modernist lifestyle through her
characters Maggie and Dee.
During the 1960s some African Americans began to replace their birth names with
names of African or Muslim descent, but what was the reason behind this change? In

This appreciation also leads to Dee changing not only her lifestyle, but several
other things such as her apparel and name; which is described as stereotypically
African. However, Dee s new found appreciation does seem, like Hakims, to be
more of a fad. In Diane Ross s article, Everyday Use, she states, To Dee, artifacts
such as the benches or the quilts are strictly aesthetic objects. It never occurs to her
that they, too, are symbols of oppression: Her family made these things because
they could not afford to buy them (Ross ). This shows, unlike her sister Maggie,
Dee s perception of the quilts are strictly aesthetic and artistic pieces that reflect
African Heritage. Dee never considers they may represent oppression themselves
and it makes her seem as though she wants them solely just to show off. In
addition, Ross goes on to state, Her admiration for them now seems to reflect a
cultural trend toward valuing handmade objects, rather than any sincere interest in
her heritage. After all, when she was offered a quilt before she went away to
college, she rejected it as old fashioned, out of style (Ross ). This shows that Dee s
change to a modernist lifestyle was influenced through a cultural trend. This also
alludes to when Dee rejected a quilt before she went to college, but now that she has
discovered the cultural trend of college, she wants one.
35. Crossing Within Polylingual Families With Contested
Structure
Introduction
This research seeks to examine crossing within polylingual families with contested
structure. I analyzed a scene from the television show Trailer Park Boys in which a
three member family interact using the concepts of crossing, facework, and footing,
in order to answer my research question. I found that the central character uses
crossing as a method of performing facework. As a result of this, he also indicates
preference and dispreference to his family members.
Theoretical Framework
Crossing involves someone speaking in another language, dialect, or pattern
which feels distinctly other (Rampton, 2000, p. 54). This can occur in a wide
variety of contexts such as first generation Americans using English in a non
English household in order to embrace one cultural system over another. Or, using
a different pattern of speech around a significant other s parents in order to convey
positive social values. In the case of the scene I analyzed, the central character s
language is already crossed as he is a white man speaking almost exclusively
African American Vernacular English (AAVE). He further uses crossing to interact
with his Hispanic girlfriend. As a character, his crossed language is one of his most
defining qualities, making him an interesting case study. Because of the character s
use of AAVE as a white man, he can be juxtaposed with Mike , the person of interest
in a study of white teens and AAVE adoption (Cutler, 1999). Mike, like Jamie, the

36. A Comparison Of Japanese Colonialism InThe Man In The
High...
The Man in the High Castle presents a colonized and divided the United States that
belongs to Germany, Japan, and a buffer zone. Philip Dick states that the Japanese
colonizers have a reflection of the western ideals and values. The Japanese mimicked
the American culture by developing an interest in talking English and improvement
of their social status. Japanese adopted the American culture and acquired American
historical objects while retaining their customs and attitudes. The Japanese occupying
the region transform San Francisco into a third world America. The High Castle
owned by the Japanese colonialists because of romantic notions it developed its own
attitudes, history, and culture. Childan develops American ideals but he ironically
condemns the Japanese for not understandingand appreciating the real meaning of
America. The paper argues against Childan perceptionon Japanese failing to
understand America because of lack of common ground.
Childan understands the American culture and history which he primarily uses his
arts and crafts. Childan makes American antiques and sells them in the High Castle
occupied by Japanese administrators. It is not ironic that the Japanese failed to
understand the real America. The Japanese understood the American customs because
they parasitized the American way of life. Childan prejudiced against America
because of his weak sense of history (Dick, 338). Childan personally fails to
understand about his country and the Japanese on the other hand ape the American
customs and history. As stated by Dick, Childan himself doesn t know about America
but the Japanese do because of developing an interest in the country (338). The
Japanese understands the version and uniqueness of America and not as how Childan
perceives their understanding.
Childan claims base on the colonization by Japanese who occupy the region and keep
the zone underdeveloped. However, the thinking that Japanese do not understand the
real America is bias. The Japanese use the effort and money to simulate the American
culture and historical objects (Dick, 335). The ability to imitate and simulate the
customs, attitude and culture of the Americans indicates that the Japanese understand
the real America.
37. Feminist Theories And Domestic Violence In Maureen...
Maureen McCarthy, a well known Australian writer, has published a number of
young adult fictional stories. Her novels have proved her guardianship over young
women who are viewed as vulnerable in the current society. Her work, Stay With
Me, draws inspiration from domestic abuse that young women in Australia and
across the world experience. She narrates a story of Tess, a young woman, and her
three year old daughter who faces abuse from her older husband Jay. She loses
control of her and no sense of self sufficiency as a result of abuse from her husband
and his watchful family. Tess longs to escape for the safety of her and her
daughter. A kind stranger comes to her rescue, helping her and her daughter escape
back to her family, whom she has not seen for a long time. Theme of domestic
violence is prevalent throughout the story and is manifested by emotional and
physical abuse. My paper will provide an analysis of domestic abuse experienced by
Tess based on genderrelations and feminist theories.
Feminist Theories and Domestic Violence
Feminist theory is a body of literary, philosophical, and sociological analysis that
explores the inequality that exists between men and women in societies around the
world. Feminist theory consists of various subcategories that explain gender
inequality through differing causal factors. All of the varied subcategories
unanimously contend that men and women should be equal within the political,
economic, sexual, and social spheres of society.
38. Understanding School Shootings
Understanding School Shootings There are a lot of school shootings happening in
the U.S., today. These school shooters have problems, which they need to be
helped immediately. Schools need more security in order to prepare for these
shootings. People never know or expect a person in their school to start shooting a
gun at innocent people. Throughout years, more and more shootings are occurring,
we need to find out what causes these tragic dilemmas in schools. Students need to
help out other students, nevertheless, at least show respect to more students. I
know that most school shooters have something in common. These commercially
manufactured psychotic drugs (Prozac, Ritalin, Paxil, Luvox, etc.) are probably
triggering psychotic behavior in already unstable individuals, and this potential
connection needs to be officially investigated immediately. (Freydis, pg. 2)
However, most school shootings happen in the first few hours of school, and
males ages 13 to 20 are the most common school shooters. What this means is they
have a mental illness, although they can t control it all the time. They often dwell
about their life. School shootings occur within 6 months today; most shootings are
with pistols, and the shooter ends up passing up his life in the end. (1b: SV; SV,
and SV.) The shooter is generally a loner, or he doesn t have many friends. This
shows that he doesn t belong in his school, so he should probably try to go to a
different school to see if he can make
39. Alien And Sedition Acts DBQ
In the summer months of 1798, the Alien and Sedition Acts were written and passed
by Congress. These acts were a cause of issues in America for three main reasons.
They sparked controversy over the formation of parties, the allowance of immigration
into the US, and America s ability to maintain a healthy republic. The Alien and
Sedition Acts caused controversy because they caused the formation of parties, which
many people, including George Washington, thought was a terrible idea. A draft of
his farewell address says, Besides the mores serious causes which have been hinted
at as endangering our Union, there is another less dangerous, but against which it is
necessary to be on our guard; I mean the petulance of party differences of opinion. ...

This is evidenced by the creation of the final act in the Alien and Sedition Acts,
which states that the publication of anything that makes the American government
look bad is punishable by fine or prison time. This once again shows American
Exceptionalism in that the US government wanted everyone to believe that they
were the perfect form of government. This act angered many people because they
viewed this as unconstitutional because it violated the rights of freedom of speech
and freedom of the press. Edward Livingston, a congressman from New York said,
...by this act... the president alone is empowered to make the law, to fix in his mind
what acts, what words, what thoughts or looks, shall constitute the crime
contemplated by the bill... (Document Q). These people thought it best that the
federal government s powers were more limited because they feared that the federal
government would become too powerful and tyrannical, or even worse, revert back
to a monarchy. They were further angered by the fact that they were not allowed to
print anything that stated their opinion, but those with the opposite opinion could.
One example of this is the propaganda that is seen in Document M. This is a
political cartoon that shows the occurrences of the XYZ affair. The cartoon is used
to portray France as corrupt and show that America is better than all other countries,
and is an example of the US federal government having too much power because
they are, in a way, able to influence the minds of the people by controlling what they
read. Other people however, argued that the Sedition Act is not unconstitutional at all
and is merely a reiteration of what has already been stated. John Allen, Federalist
congressman from Connecticut wrote, The freedom of the press and opinions was
never understood to give the right of publishing falsehoods and slanders, nor of

Neurodevelopmental Disorders in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental

41. A Summary Of The Faerie Queene And Beowulf
After reading the assigned short stories I decided to use the first book of the Faerie
Queene and Beowulf. These stories have numerous uses of imagery, Throughout
Beowulf there are creatures and battles that are so epic they literally pop off the
page because of the way ( the author s) described them. In the first book of the Faerie
Queene(the author) there are also a wide variety of different monsters and battles and
stunning characters, but they also connect with history.
I decided to choose Imagery because both of these stories are full of different
creatures and scenes that need imagery to be told in its full glory. Beowulf is action
packed and has descriptive battles and the Faerie Queene has many historical
references that involve imagery.
In the Faerie Queene Spenser uses imagery with what was happening politically or
religiously at the time. There are many examples throughout the story that suggests
this. At the time Spenser wrote the Faerie Queene it was during the English
reformation when England dropped Catholicism and turned to Protestantism as the
country s new religion. Since this was going on at the time Spenser used imagery to
connect with events and to show that their new religion could prevail over the
Catholic s criticism.
In the first book Spenser talks about the noble knight Redcrosse, and describes him
as a symbol to look up to. An example Spenser wrote But on his brest a bloudie
Crosse he bore, The deare remembrance of his dying Lord, For whose sweete sake
that glorious badge he wore, And dead as living ever him adored (1.i.2.1 4). Here it
almost seems like Spenser is using imagery to describe the knight Redcrosse as a
Christ figure. Further into the story Spenser talks about a mythical creature called
Errour and begins to paint a vivid image of the serpent. Halfe like a serpent horribly
displaide, But th other halfe did womans shape retaine, Most lothsom, filthie, foule,

The Trans Sahara and Silk Road trading networks from time period 3, were located
in the Afro asia region of the world, with some smaller trade routes that led to
outlying european cities such as Constantinople. While both trading routes were
important for the spread of religion, goods, and ideas, the Silk Road had more
profound effects on the world.
A clear similarity between the two trade routes was that both had led to the spread of
the world s second largest religion, Islam. Such is seen when observing the provinces

Any animal besides a camel would die unless constant supplies were bought for it
and if it were able to have frequents rest to not die from constant fatigue. A camel
was the perfect animal to be used on both trade routes, and most commonly used
was the Bactrian camel. The reason that camels were able to survive both trade
routes was due to the fact that they had humps to store fat which would be broken
down into water and energy for the camel, the camel s urine would be heavily
concentrated to conserve water, and the camels hairs eyelashes had helped protect it
from blowing sands. This made camels especially useful in regions such as the
Sahara or the Gobi

45. Galileo s Discontent With Aristotelian Philosophy
1)What was Galileo s discontent with Aristotelian mechanics in De Motu?
According to Aristotelian philosophy, he believes that there is no effect without
cause; therefore, there is no motion without a force. In this theory, an object that is
falling down is known for the force that is cause by the weight and it is pushing
down the object; however, the resistance is the medium such as air or water. The
objects that fall are looking for their natural place; therefore, large objects contain
greater concentrations of heavy elements and it causes them to fall faster than small
objects. In fact, Galileo did not believe that all of the large hailstones were falling
from farther up in the sky; therefore, he decided to test his own theory and disagree...

and the Scriptures. The idea of Truth was in these two books; however, it ends
differently. Nature was known as the language of mathematical science and it ended
in physical theory. As for the Scriptures, it presents no physical theory; however, it
presents our moral destiny. 5)Why does he think that he proceeds with much greater
