INTRODUCTION
In Catalonia, we have very owned culture. A
very important spect is the typical music and
instruments. Catalonia is not Spain, we don't
dance “sevillanas”, we don't sing “flamenco”.
So let's see how is our culture! :)

Typical instrumentsTypical instruments
 They are: flabiol, tamborí,
tible, fiscorn, tenora,
trompeta, trombó i
contrabaix, and they all
are the “cobla”.
 They're used in folklore
celebrations and in
typical dances like
“sardanes”.
 The “gralla” is used for
encouraging “castellers”.
National anthem: “ElsNational anthem: “Els

 In 11th
Sempember 1714,
Catalonia lost its
identities in a battle with
Spain. A lot of reapers
from Catalonia went to
Barcelona and made a
revolution. “Els
Segadors” (“The
Reapers”) is the song
they were singing, and it
remembers that date.

• The “castells” are human
towers of four to more levels.
• They are formed by: the
“pinya” at the bottom, the
“tronc” (the column) and the
“pom de dalt” at the top.
• When the “anxeneta” arrives
to the top, she rises up her
hand (l’aleta) and only then
the castell is finished.

– The most important
example of adopted
folklore is the “Rumba
Catalana”, a kind of
flamenco but with catalan
and gipsy influences.
– It is played with a spanish
guitar and sometimes a
box drum.

  • 3. INTRODUCTION In Catalonia, we have very owned culture. A very important spect is the typical music and instruments. Catalonia is not Spain, we don't dance “sevillanas”, we don't sing “flamenco”. So let's see how is our culture! :)
  • 5. Typical instrumentsTypical instruments  They are: flabiol, tamborí, tible, fiscorn, tenora, trompeta, trombó i contrabaix, and they all are the “cobla”.  They're used in folklore celebrations and in typical dances like “sardanes”.  The “gralla” is used for encouraging “castellers”.
  • 6. National anthem: “ElsNational anthem: “Els Segadors”Segadors”  In 11th Sempember 1714, Catalonia lost its identities in a battle with Spain. A lot of reapers from Catalonia went to Barcelona and made a revolution. “Els Segadors” (“The Reapers”) is the song they were singing, and it remembers that date.
