Casting Roles For My
Music Video
Once I had decided on the plot to my music video, I had
to think about casting for the main roles of my
narrative. I needed mainly two guys and a girl aged
16-18, and a few extras for the background in scenes
such as the party scene and classroom scene. I
wanted them to also have some interest in the genre
of music I was doing for my music video, so they had
an extra passion for the task and suited the indie-folk
style I was aiming for.
Therefore I held casting auditions for these main roles. I
asked around friends and asked them to spread the
word to see who was interested and was prepared to
give up some of their time for this. I got a good
response, with numerous people eager to get
involved. After asking them of previous experience in
acting, as well as acting out a few of the scenes I had
planned, I chose my final three people that would star
as the main three characters in my music video.

also involved with The Garage so out of school
experience
Audition: Confident in role, easily adapting to
character

weekends, depending on other A2 work
Position in music video narrative: Main male
figure (boyfriend to girl)
I have also decided to cast him as the singer for the
band, therefore he will take part in the performance
footage of the video, lip synching and playing an
acoustic guitar.
Name: Katie Gilbert

as well as previous out of school drama classes

lines clearly and gave a strong emotive
performance

Position in music video narrative: Main
female role as girlfriend in relationship

as well as attending drama classes at The
Garage

characters, and easily portrays different emotions

evenings, as well as Thursday and Friday
evening
Position in music video narrative: Male
figure two who girl cheats with
I have also decided to cast him as part of the
band for the performance sequences of the
video, preferably playing an instrument in the
background.
Now I had my main cast of actors I could now
proceed to arranging filming dates for my music
video, using the social media site Facebook to
contact them to arrange suitable dates that
fitted around their availability and worked with
my schedule of production.
