June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

NOTE FROM
CASIO INDIA
We as an organization really hope that we are able to reach more children with effective mechanism and
imbibemusicasanessentialtoolforgrowing.
This year we went big, from 10 to 50. Yes this year Casio India expanded social innovation to 5,000 plus
students across communities representing; orphanage, autistic, only girl group and economically weak
students.Theresponsethattheprojecthasreceivedisheartwarmingasitassuresthatwhateverweare
doinginourcapacityhasbeenabletocreateawellbeingofthesechildren.
Moreover we can see that our vision of enabling music within all sections of society is coming true.
Where not just students, but schools and parents of these children are acknowledging and accepting
thevalueswhichmusicbrings.
Music is a very strong medium to communicate and through this these children have got the opportunity
to explore and express themselves. This year there are various stories to show that tell how these
childrenhaveoutgrowninmusic.
Also the support we have got from school authorities is appreciable because without their
understanding the project would not have reached its due course. The teachers enrolled in the program
requires special mention as they are dedicatedly understanding each participating child's music
techniqueandworkingonit.Sothatthechildrenlearntherightprocessandbecamemusicaspirants.
The changed perceptive towards lives by these young minds surely make us proud in whatever small
waywehavereached.

Making life richer and more convenient by creating innovative products—this was the
aspiration of Casio's founders, and it is summed up in the corporate creed, “Creativity

S.D (Gujarat) Senior Secondary School
Orphanage School
Children are getting only the basic needs like food, shelter and clothes.
Moreover these children are enrolled in government school education without any other skill development.
Hence these children are facing lack of opportunities to grow and excel in life.
Orphanage school is a government supported residential institution, devoted to the
care ofchildren who were separated from their biological families.
Emotional and behaviour problems are more among the children.

We have this initiative from Casio Company who sent
Mr. Rituraj to teach music keyboard classes to our
music students. He is very good instructor, motivator,
punctual to class and regular to school and providing
proper training to our music students. This is a very
commendable thing that our children's were able to play
up full birthday song through Casio keyboard. We thankful

Before the initiation of classes I had no idea about music and
how to play a musical instrument. This was for the first
time that I was about to learn music and instrument
playing. I thought keyboard playing will be difficult for me but
my music teacher Neeraj helped me a lot. Whenever I
have any doubt, music teacher will clear it in easy way. Thank
you Casio for helping us by providing music keyboard class.
Mr. Dusyant
I was not very happy with my school life because all my
friends have got good recognition in sports, events and
studies. But I haven't not participated in anything so far.
My school principal informed me about the keyboard class
and enrolled me into it. In these classes I learnt one thing,
all of us are talented in different way and music class made
me to understand that music is right way to express my
talent, a special thanks to Casio.

B. Instructors
C. Schools Authorities
.
.
Most of the instructors are all accomplished music teachers with an
extensive background in music. Some have been teaching for over 10 years
while some belong to a family of generational singers and musicians.
The most senior teachers in the program created the course plan which is used as a guide for others to teach at schools. They
focus on teaching theory and practicing equally.
Each instructor covers 5 schools in an area, one per day, and commits 4
hours to each school. These are mostly government run or aided schools in
remote areas like Faridabad, Haryana. They handle anywhere from 8 to 40
students per session with students ranging from 1st standard to the 9th
standard.
Almost everyone has devised ways to help the students practice at
home like playing on the phone using piano apps, or drawing the keyboard
on paper and practicing finger positions.
Some part of the class is made to sing while the other plays the keyboard.
They also help the school in training students for performances at school events like Annual Day, Republic Day outside of their
mandated time.
There are also plans for a big showcase event where students from all the schools will play songs together. The teachers are
trying to bring all the students to a sufficient level of proficiency to make it possible.
One of the challenges that the instructors face is that the students lose their grasp without sufficient practice and classes,
which happens frequently due to various holidays or exams.
For some schools and classes, the CASIO program course plan is a bit advanced and in English, so they feel it needs to be
re-evaluated.program course plan is a bit advanced and in English, so they feel it needs to be re-evaluated.
A. Students
.
.
.
.
They are highly engaged in the classes and are very enthusiastic about the program.
Some of them gave up going out on a school picnic just to attend the music class.
These students come from economically weak backgrounds so do not get the
support from home to practice and get better, hence they are very driven to learn
and make the most of the time they have to practice and get better.
Despite the above, they are one of the fastest learners seen by the instructors.
Some of them even teach their peers when the teacher is not available.
The students want the classes more frequently which the current time table for
the instructors doesn't permit.
. Most schools choose the students that are most enthusiastic about the classes for
the music program. This has led to highly focused students that are very disciplined
and diligent in the program.
Most of the schools are government funded or aided and have mostly underprivileged
students. Their lack of infrastructure does not permit them to have vocational classes
by themselves.
They are very happy to have the program in their schools and always support the
instructors in whichever way possible.
They are happy to see the students engage actively in an activity that will benefit them
in the future and have also noted cases where truly students have improved their
behaviour dramatically.

Some schools have provided coordinators that help the students
practice under supervision on days where the instructor is not at the
school. They learn along with the students to help them later.
Schools are also keen on help with additional infrastructure like tables
and chairs to help the students practice comfortably.
They want this program to be extended to their sister schools.
They want more classes per week to help accommodate more students
and help them practice regularly.
Currently, most schools have been provided with 5 keyboards. Some
schools want a couple more to accommodate more students.

The Music class are only held once in a week of all schools which makes more difficult for the music teachers and students to
follow the continuity. Every school have their own time table for the music class similar like other subject. In order to make
students to engage those classes with proper guidance “Master trainer program” has been initiated within the schools. So that,

In the month of February first rotational plan was introduced in order to give teachers a practical experience of the teaching
methodologies adopted of each other, the school premises where each teacher is working, mapping of students learning level
and involving best practices of each teacher within their specific operations. The rotational plan worked as an exchange program
where teachers have got first hand understanding of one another as a team. Now in the coming times the plan will go more
