Pervasive developmental disorders are characterized by impairments in social interaction and communication across cognitive, emotional, and social development. Autistic disorder is a pervasive developmental disorder otherwise known as early infantile autism or childhood autism, characterized by inability to communicate or interact socially. - 2. • Tyler Receo • 7 years old • Grade 2 • Section Alunsina • One of the nicest and most sociable students in class • Excels in English • Loves Art • On the borderline of being diagnosed with ADHD • In class, Tyler is hyperactive, slightly inattentive and impulsive
- 4. • Often moves around and he continuously wants to move • Constantly using his arms and legs even while walking (Gross Motor Skills) • Using his Fine Motor Skills to draw and/or write in a piece of paper or his notebook • Inability to use pencils and crayons with better control • Height is average for his age and the same goes for his weight
- 5. • Tyler’s cognitive development is similar to the way children diagnosed with attention deficit disorder cognitively develops • Tyler has difficulty with comprehension, remembering, thinking and knowing • He was able to showcase the symptoms of the cognitive development of a child diagnosed with ADHD while also showing the characteristics of a normal child • Tyler may have difficulty participating but he proved to his teacher and peers that he knows what he is doing and that he is capable of
