Pros And Cons Of Military Dictatorship
Why is the military dictatorship not good? It is supposed to believe that Thais are well accustomed
with the military dictatorship because Thailand has been launched a coup d Г©tat by a military for
13 times since 1932. When it changed the government system from absolute monarchy to
constitutional monarchy on June 24th, 1932 by the promoters, called Khana Rasadon including
civil servants and the military elite. They seized the power of King Rama VII and declared the first
constitution. After that, Thailandshould become more democratic, but it would not. The military
elite quite has a big role in Thai politics. According to the history, the incidents on October
14th,1973 when it was under controlled by the Thanom dictatorship. Students... Show more content

police officers arrested the seven activists, who campaigned to vote no in the referendum for the
2016 constitution. The NCPO claimed that this campaign was distorting the constitution and
disobeying the article 61 of referendum legislation (2016), although this referendum would mean
the future of citizens. Furthermore, media are also prevented from presenting any content which

Call Of Duty Historical Facts
Video games are one of the many ways that history is present in my daily life. Many videogames
try to replicate history and Call of Duty is one of them. I am going to be focusing on Call of
Duty: World at War. This version of the game is about the Second World War, and you get to
play as soldiers on both sides on the war. The game is very brutal and violent, and because you
will be playing as an American soldier and as a Germen soldier, the game can better explain what
happened during WW2. My initial thoughts about the historical facts that take place during the
game was that they were inaccurate. Because the game was developed and published by American
companies, I automatically thought that it would favor the Allies and specially The United

Belly Dancing Ottoman Empire
Belly dancing in the Ottoman Empire was very common. Sol Bloom was credited with coming
up with the term Belly dance in 1899. Belly dancers were performed by both male and female.
During this time men became increasingly popular all over the world therefore, were considered
female impersonators by some. They were also actors and musicians, because women were not
allowed to perform in public. Now a days Turkish male belly dancers are becoming extremely
popular in nightclubs and television shows.
Turkish belly dancers were very flamboyant. Although their costumes were flirtatious and playful.
They were normally made to show more of the dancers body and had lots of cut outs. In the 1970s
and 1980s the outfits were typically a bra top, dance

The Fascination Of War Literature
War is full of death and destruction, it is full of a lot of things including literature. In war there
are no rules, the same is for literature there are no rules the possibility of what to write about is
endless. My fascination of war truly began when my grandfather started to open up about what
he went through in the Vietnam War. Most soldiers who have went to war and have come back
are not the same as when they left. It is very hard for them to talk about what they have been
through while at war, but when they talk one should listen because they may never be able to
have the strength to tell that story again. One may not realize how much it takes for a Veteran to
tell a story of what they went through, because as they are telling the story they are re living the
story mentally. Most soldiers are not capable of telling stories without having to go through
counseling. In most cases if a soldier was to try to tell a story without counseling, they will freak
out thinking they are back in the place that brought them the trauma. In today s world it is
mandatory for Veterans to receive counseling to help them with their trauma instead of trying to
figure it out their selves. Therefore, war literature is very important because of the meaning
behind it all. We should give respect to war literature, especially if it comes from a solider himself.
When one should read about war literature they should take into consideration of how hard it might
have been for the person to talk

Extracellular Loop
The extracellular loops of GPCRs are important for receptor function. They contribute to protein
folding, provide structure to the extracellular region and mediate movement of the TM helices on
activation. The second extracellular loop (ECL2) is of significance for ligand binding and
receptor activation. In family B (or secretin like) GPCRs, it is the most conserved and often the
longest of all the ECLs, and so is in a good position to interact with the endogenous peptide agonists
for these receptors and is in a prominent central position to mediate conformational changes 17.
Mutations within ECL2 have been shown to affect GLP 1 binding and efficiency, indicating an
important role in GLP 1R activation. Interestingly, some mutations... Show more content on

The structural features of ECL2 and high lipophilicity of TAK 875 (which shows approximately
380 fold preference for lipophilic phase over aqueous phase) suggest that TAK 875 most
probably enters the binding pocket of hGPR40 through the lipid bilayer14. Looking at Figure 3,
the crystal structure of FFA1 provides a good starting point for understanding ligand docking
which predicts the preferred orientation of one molecule to a second molecule when bound to
each other to form a stable complex. Although docking of flexible Linoleic acid which is a
natural ligand is the least reliable, it helps to generate hypotheses as to how agonistic activity of
Linoleic acid could be amplified by synthetic agonists, like TAK 875, at a structural level. For
example, targeting Arginines, which are О± amino acids that are used in the biosynthesis of
proteins, from the extracellular side by substituting existing water mediated contacts could still
leave a possibility of targeting the Arginines from the side involved in interactions with amino
acids Tyrosines. The fact that the ligands could have different binding modes and occupy different
binding sites at FFA1 can be also seen from a site map search (Schrodinger, LLC, New York, NY,
USA 2014b) (Fig. 3, E)11. Tikonova et al.26 validated a docking protocol of the Glide

Persuasive Essay On Circus Animals
A little girl got lost behind a circus on her way to the bathroom, only to come out and see an
elephant being hooked and whipped by multiple grown men at the same time. She noticed it was
the same elephant that tripped on stage 5 minutes before. I could have been that little girl, and I
know I d be terrified to ever go back to a circusor zoo again. As an animallover, I wanted to see
something done about the situation. It s not fair to animals. Circuses shouldn t even be a thing.
Animals deserve a fair life in the wild where they belong. They shouldn t have to be absolutely
terrified every time they make the even smallest mistake. While researching this topic I found I
had few questions that weren t answered in any articles. How long has this been going on? Why
haven t people tried to fix this earlier? But there was one question, my driving question, the one I
really wanted an answer to. It was: What can I do to help animals around the world from being
abused in entertainment? After researching through videos, articles, and podcasts I ve found that
there aren t many that had solutions, but there are still many possible solutions.
Many animals in entertainment often get abused for the slightest mistakes, they get abuse from
slashing to even being killed Circus animals are shocked, slashed with sharp hooks, whipped,
beaten with clubs and even starved.
Circuses often say the animals perform out of love for their owners, but thatЕ› completely false.
They perform out of fear of being beaten and whipped.
Animals that try to escape their enclosures don t only get shocked or cut by the wire fences but are
even sometimes shot to death. ThatВґs ashaming. If the animals are so important to the zoos and
circuses then why treat them the way they do? These animals don t even get the proper vet care,
and with all the injuries they get a day, they need it. Animals should be getting a checkup at the
least, every two months and especially circus animals, because of how active they are. Animals in
zoos and circuses are never taught to survive in the wild. So if at one point an animal is replaced
and put into the wild, theyВґll easily get hunted and/or attacked. IВґm all for cute tricks and fun.
But the way these animals are

Summary Of Celia Behind Me
Isabel Huggan s Celia Behind Me is a short story about bullying. It depicts a young Elizabeth
who finds solace and is accepted by her peers because she takes part in intimidating her
schoolmate Celia. Unlike them, she goes too far, physically assaults the girl and, unknowingly,
digs a hole into a world of suffering and despair. Using various repeating motifs and a similar
characterization of the two characters, Huggan demonstrates that those who purposefully do wrong
to others will eventually also suffer themselves. To start off, various motifs represent the similar
fates of the bully as well as the victim. In fact, a motif of watermelons, which represent heads, is
present throughout the story. Elizabeth first talks of her aunts ... [whose] heads smashed together

Elizabeth is described to be also chunky and ... [wear] glasses too (76), which introduces the fact
that they are similar. Soon after, the fact that Celia is just a little behind Elizabeth in the social
ladder is imaged when the narrator mentions that Celia s glasses would steam even worse than ...
[hers] (76). This means that both girls are in a similar situation, while Celia is just a little worse.
Like written in the title Celia Behind Me , Elizabeth mentions that Celia [always] ... [scuffles]
and ... [trips] a few yards behind [them] (76). This description represents not only that they are
always closely linked together, but that Elizabeth is on the brink of falling into the same
situation as her poor classmate. This troubling inevitable fate is later shown to be dangerously
close when they are described being treated the same way by Sandra, an older girl. Di a beet ics

characters are used to show that both are destined for the same amount of

Mexican Food Custom
After reading the text, I learned that in rural areas of Mexico, food sharing is considered an
important food custom. The relationship that the Mexican farmers have with their food and farms
extends to their social network in this practice. The native Indian origin of Mexicans, in that more
than 80% have some form of Indian heritage mixed in with Spanish, is reflected in the foods and
worldview. I also understand, very well, that if an offering of foodis not accepted, the person that
declines the food has made a huge error and considered rude. I am sure that this is due to the pride
that the offeror maintains, due to the personal relationship to the food that the family offers. After
all, the time that is taken to prepare the meals,

When leaders allow team members input on decisions, it gives them a sense of authority that in turn
adds to the strength of the organization enhancing team members abilities to help themselves as
well as others. Chen Chung (2014), Then, the leader s sensitivity to member needs fosters positive
relatedness. A constellation of such behaviors is empowering in the sense that it inspires change
and self determination on the part of the followers ... empowering leadership leads to follower
satisfaction of the needs for competence, autonomy, and relatedness, which in turn contributes to
performance and adjustment (p. 624 625).
Some team members require micromanagement, but self managers are self sufficient and tend to
manage themselves. Chen Chung (2014) Self management is defined as a self process that facilitates
behaviors that are not naturally motivating and that meet externally anchored standards (p. 622).
Self managers motivate themselves to do their jobs. Leadership allows self managers the
independence they need to perform their job and in turn they know the limitations. External factors,
in some cases, are transformed into internal inspirations ensuring task are completed this assist
leadership with organization tasks. Knowing task related to the organization proves that self
managers are supportive and empowers organizations.

Comparing My Darling Clementine And Once Upon A Time In...
The use of an audio mise en scГЁne is used treated uniquely in both clips. In My Darling
Clementine, as Wyatt and Clementine are watching the festivities, and even though there is a
permeating sound of feet stomping, music playing, and happy chatter, we can still clearly hear
Wyatt asking Clementine to dance. With Once Upon a Time in the West, a layered collection of
soundeffects is used instead of any dialogue or musicto emphasize the silence of the train station
and eventually the arrival of the train itself.
Sound mixing is also used in both clips, but with differing effect. In My Darling Clementine, as
Wyatt and Clementine walk towards the dancing on the church foundations, we gradually hear the
music and dancing grow louder, emphasizing their relative position and the audience s awareness of
their location. In Once Upon a Time in the West, when one of Harry s men walks underneath the
relatively loud windmill, the next cut that focuses on him has the sound of the windmill muffled,
which emphasizes the outlaw s perspective. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

other outlaws. This rhythm is then broken by the arrival of the train, as all the sound effects
previously dominating the scene are now dominated by the train, which focuses all the sound on

Scientific Management And Human Relations
Scientific Management and Human Relations are two different management approaches. In
Scientific Management, managers are responsible to think and workers do. Frederick Winslow
Taylor (1856 1915) develops the Principles of Time and Motion Study, which leads to a
conclusion that certain people have a higher work efficiency compared to the others. In his means,
cooperation is to do what workers are told to do without asking questions or making suggestions.
(as cited in Miller Form, 1924).
Human Relation Management was founded by Professor Elton Mayo (1880 1949). During the
industrial revolution in early 1920 s, Mayo initiated the Human Relation Theory of Management. A
psychologist, Henry C. Link (as cited in Miller Form, 1924, p. 657) relates that the ideal
employment method is receiving applicants from all kinds at one end, sort, interview, and record
them, before labelling them with the righteous job. Mayo introduced an experiment, the Hawthorne
Studies, to look into the impact of working environment on the productivity of workers.
Scientific Management, also known as Taylorism, is a theory of management which focuses on
workflows analysis. In the 20th century, a large number of immigrants which lacks the ability to
comprehend in English entered the workforce in the United States, whom Taylor concludes that
labourers are not qualified to plan the process of their jobs. In almost all the mechanic arts the
science which underlies each act of each workman is so

Corporate Tax And Corporate Income Tax
Introduction I believe that there should be corporate income tax, as it acts as a user fee for the
special privileges (Rosen, Ch 19) corporations receive. The corporate income tax is a separate tax
on corporate income, in which varies in a bracket between ten percent and thirty five percent. The
effective corporate income taxrate is estimated at thirty two percent, and eighteen percent for non
corporations. Workers compensation, labor expenses, interest payments, and depreciation are tax
deductible from taxable income. Since corporations sell stock to stockholders, those stockholders
purchased a certain percentage of the corporation. In turn, purchasing a portion of the corporate
liability. If a stockholder accumulates income within the corporation in which he holds stock shares,
he reduces his tax liability. Although the shareholder s additional income would eventually be
taxed, his stock will grow at the before tax rate of interest. This benefits the corporation and the
shareholders, as neither party holds the entire liability, nor do the shareholders pay debt if the
corporation is not generating profit. Corporate income taxalso preserves the integrity of personal
income tax. I believe that there should be corporate income tax, as the lack there of could create
potential opportunities for personal tax avoidance (Rosen, Ch 19).
Corporate Income Tax Incidence The corporate income tax incidence is dependent on whether the
perspective is from the short, long, or

In the story A Very Old Man With Wings , Gabriel Garcia Marquez writes about the discovery of

appearance of a magical man with wings would scare, excite and bring hope to a neighborhood
for the foreseeable future. This man looked old and defeated, while Pelayo looked at him with a
confused expression, or a mute stupor . Gabriel Garcia Marquez describes the old man as bald
with fading hairs, almost toothless and huge buzzard wings. How can someone like this exist, look

That s when the priest was suspicious of the angel and even considered the fact that he could be
an imposter of some kind, simply because he did not understand the language of God or know
how to greet his ministers . Gabriel Garcia Marquez would keep readers wondering what this
creature was; a man or an angel? Meanwhile as most came to ridicule, some actually would come
to seek the help of the angel, by hoping he really was magic and could cure all of their health
issues. The angel would take no part in this act, so with human tendencies Gabriel Garcia
Marquez would illustrate that the angel had a form of magic but also possessed a human soul.
Why would Gabriel Garcia Marquez use magic in this story? Maybe magic symbolizes faith in a
higher power that possesses powers a normal human being would know nothing about. Gabriel
Garcia Marquez describes the characters in this story as being greedy and wanting resolutions
from the angel. Pelayo and his wife wanted money, the priest wanted proof and other villagers
wanted answers. It wasn t fair and that s why Gabriel Garcia Marquez would say that the angel
didn t involve himself in his own circus, as he would ignore the crowds and crawl into the dirty
hot corner and do his best to lay in peace. The question still remained is he an angel or not? George

Internal Medicine Personal Statement
My first introduction to Internal Medicine was even before starting kindergarten, when as a
young kid I used to visit my dad s clinic. I was always fascinated by the compassion my dad had for
the sick and grief stricken and the sense of joy and happiness he experienced when he used to see
them on the way to recovery. 30 years down the line I graduated from the same medical schoolas
my dad. One of the proudest moment for me and him alike.
In our folklore it says that the great riders never fall, but even greater are those who ride having
experienced the fall. Failure is the greatest teacher and I experienced it first hand when I lost an
extremely uphill battle to get a spot into medical school. The ground shook beneath my very feet.
All my life I worked hard to fulfill the dream of being a physician, pursuing anything else was not
an option. I learned from the master teacher, the failure himself, studied even harder, and that hard
work led me to have an option of 5 medical schools to choose from. ... Show more content on

Essay The Evolution of Displacement Hulls
Displacement hulls were first used at the turn of the century when internal combustion engines
were large and heavy. Morley S. Smith lesliefield.com. When a displacement hull moves through
the water, it pushes water off to the sides. Most displacement hulls are long with a narrow bow.
These hulls are the easiest to maneuver at low speeds. Semi displacement hulls are slightly more

displacement length ratio. 3. The amount of V or draught of the hulland they generally have a hard

Also they can be very unstable. Stepped hulls can also be the most thrilling type of boat because of
the unnatural design and the feeling going so fast with the bow pointing more downward which
differs from many other types of boats.
The first type of speed boat hull was a rounded bottom displacement hull. These hulls were also
usually long, narrow and had a pointed bow. This caused the boat move faster and for the boat
to be able to maneuver better. Shortly after the displacement hulls were starting to be used,
stepped hulls and planing hulls were introduced. All three of these types had different speeds
and different ways of riding through the water. When the speed boat was first introduced, the
hulls were more for a smooth ride rather than a crazy ride, mixing the best of safety and speed.
Of these three early hull designs, the fastest was the stepped hull. Stepped hulls can be expected
of move 10 15 percent faster than a displacement hull or a planing hull. naval design.co In the
early years of speed boats, a stepped hull could reach speeds up to 100 miles per hour. No matter
what type of hull, the length differed. Most differed from 20 to 40 feet , with some going up to
60 feet and some being as small as 12 feet. As size differed with length, the same can be said with
the beam. One thing different from length is that the beam differs more between types of hulls. An

Crossing a specific boundary may not be just physical, it is also metaphorically and that s has a

look as if they have deconstructed objects and rearranged them on the canvas. One goal of this is to

Within his complexity came out a brilliant artist that was widely considered the most influential
painter of the 20th century. Pollock began to study painting in 1929 at the Art Students League,
in New York, under the Regionalist painter Thomas Hart Benton. During the 1930s he was being
influenced also by the Mexican muralist painters and by certain aspects of Surrealism. By the
mid 1940s he was painting in a completely abstract manner, and the `drip and splash style for
which he is best known emerged with some abruptness in 1947. Instead of using the traditional
easel he moved his canvas to the floor and poured and dripped his paint from a can; instead of
using brushes he manipulated it with `sticks, trowels or knives sometimes he would use a mixture
of `sand, broken glass or other foreign matter . This manner of Action painting was common with
Surrealist theories of automatism. Clement Greenberg emerged on the American art scene at a
time when it was still relatively small and critics belonged to the insular world of the artists
themselves. Among them was an obscure painter named Jackson Pollock, who was earning very
little money. Clement Greenberg, was the art critic who propelled the career of Jackson Pollock
and helped to establish Abstract Expressionism as a major artistic movement Greenberg began to
praise on Pollock s work, though very few people noticed at

You Can Hear Him From The Corridor
You can hear him from the corridor. Neil Young is kicked back on a lounge chair in the focal

Positive And Negative Effects Of The Great Depression
The Great Depression:
How National Crisis Negatively Impacted and Positively Influenced Broadway
Shrunken perhaps by the vicissitudes and exigencies of the times, Broadway presented itself
admirably throughout the Thirties. It not only managed to preserve the best, but also nurtured and
expanded them. At the brink of the new decade, Broadway stood smaller but brighter Rusie, 2016
1920 s Broadway was booming! Due to the changes in song formatting, the modernization of plot
line, and with a variety of dance style, The Jazz Age catapulted Broadway to a higher dimension
than ever before. Like most hits, the Jazz Age fizzled out due to unforeseen circumstances. The
Jazz Age ended with the 1929 stock market crash and the onset of the Great Depression. The
country suffered, investments dropped, banks failed, and crashing companies caused massive
unemployment rates. Along with the rest of the country, Broadway was negatively impacted by
The Great Depression. However, despite the loss of jobs and struggling venues, the decade of the
thirties proved to be an enlightening and rich experience for Broadway. Through research, we will

Lean Supply Chain Is A Catalyst For Enhancing Product...
In a constantly evolving market, companies must maintain the mindset of continuous improvement
and they must focus on speed, efficiency and customer value to be competitive (Cudney Elrod,
2011). Applying lean concepts goes beyond having a better product than competitors; it s the
supply chains ability to create end to end value for the organization and customer. Therefore, for
the supply chain to provide organizational success collaboration with all users is critical because
effective communication can clearly address expectations and align everyone to work towards a
joint goal for mutual success (Jasti Kodali, 2015). Lean supply chain is a catalyst for enhancing

Lean Tools and Techniques
Why Focus on Lean Supply Chain The purpose of supply chain management is to manage the flow
of goods and services from the procurement of raw material to the point of consumption.
Furthermore, it deals with the storing of material, production, and distribution of a product that will
maximize customer value and give a company a competitive advantage of the competition.
Applying lean gives a company the ability to focus on constraints in the system that inhibit efficient
product flow, eliminate waste and improve productivity and quality. For this to be successful its
imperative companies seek to include suppliers, distributors and logistics into the process because
lean requires integration, coordination and collaboration across the organization and throughout the
supply chain (Agus Hajinoor, 2012). As a result of increased transparency, companies will be more
focused on performance and this will create a collective effort to reduce cost by eliminating waste
and increasing productivity. Beyond the efforts to eliminate waste lean looks to incorporate
customer value from the customers perspective. Simply, everything that is being done that ensures
customer satisfaction is a value added step and any activity that fails to achieve customer
satisfaction, which is something their willing to pay for, is a non value added step and should be
eliminated from the process. By simply knowing the process and eliminating

Duchamp s Fountain
Duchamp s controversial art piece, Fountain, caused a critical shift in how the world views art.
Many beliefs were challenged when he tried to submit the piece to the Society of Independent
Artists, including the definitions of art and artist . From my observations, art and artist are
entirely subjective. Everyone seems to have a different perspective, unique ideas about what art is
to them. To me, art is altering something in some purposeful way whether it be recombining
materials to create an image, changing how we look at an object, or channeling and expressing
emotion in a physical sense. Because this definition of art Art is not something that can be easily
defined; due to this, it is hard to quantify what is and is not art. I... Show more content on

A French artist received a series of cosmetic surgery operations with the idea of making her body
a work of art. In this case, who is the artist? Orlan, with the creative intent and design for the
overall outcome, or the doctors with the skill in performing modifications? In a way, they are both
artists. Orlan s art is the idea she has for her plastic surgery, the way in which she imagines it, the
creativity of her thinking. The surgeons art is the way in which they are able to take her ideas and
put them into being through surgery.
The original piece in question, Duchamp s Fountain, oddly enough is a similar case. There was
practically no fine skill involved on Duchamp s part, even less so than the child s drawing. What
is included, however, is a very unique train of thought. His decision to push the boundaries and
question the public s reaction is the form of art. Very few people would ve thought of that.
Overall, art is difficult to define. There are many different forms, and different ways of classifying
it. Art doesn t have to be perfectly constructed, but what it lacks in technique it should make up for
in content. It should have meaning. It needs to involve changing something in some way to possess
a purpose or portray a

Analysis Of The Book Rip Van Winkle
For the latter part of the last two centuries, generations of people around the world have read or
heard of the tale of the man who slept for two decades known as Rip Van Winkle . This short
story was originally published in a book called The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent. by
American author Washington Irvingunder the pseudonym Geoffrey Crayon. Irving used effective
writing to show the reader every detail needed to understand where and what is going on
especially during the transitioning periods of before the American Revolution to the aftermath.
Some generalize this story as a simple story of a man who slept for two decades, however what if
the theme of this story is truly about the stages of depression suffered by the main character. This
could be insinuated by Washington Irving in certain aspects of the character and the story itself of
Rip Van Winkle. Rip Van Winkle tells the story of a man who was observed that he was a simple
good natured man (Rip Van Winkle 30), who spent most of his time helping others and very little
time helping himself. The story took place in the late 1700 s in a small village near the Hudson
River around the Kaatskill Mountains where it began around a time where Great Britain still had
control of the colonies and it lasted until after the eventual American Revolution. Irving wrote the
story in a way that it could be narrated by a fictional character Diedrich Knickerbocker that he
created, who also acted as the narrator for

Three Causes Of The Boxer Rebellion
The Boxer Rebellion was an uprising initiated in China, after the Chinese suffered many
devastating defeats at the hands of foreign powers. Originating in the 1900 s, a secret organisation
called the Society of the Righteous and Harmonious Fists, began carrying out attacks on Chinese
Christians and foreigners. They became known in the West as the boxers , for their martial arts
fighting style. What caused the Boxer Rebellion? There were three main causes.
The first cause for the Boxer Rebellion, was the anti foreign stance in China. As a result of suffering
humiliating defeats in both the first, and second Opium wars, China was forced to grant
concessions to foreigners. Furthermore, they had to sign the unequal treaties which allowed the
West to gain a significant amount of control over China. This left the Chinese population poverty
stricken, and angry at foreign powers. The economy became disrupted by the arrival of modernity
and industrialism. According to historian David Silbey Many Chinese worked in industries that
were disrupted by the arrival of the railroad and the telegraph. There was a sense that China s
balance had been thrown out of whack by these modern innovations, and only by destroying the
innovations and the foreigners who brought them could the balance be restored. . The Chinese
regarded the West as foreign devils , and wished to retain sovereignty and independence. They were
extremely nationalistic. Mark Twain addressed the boxer rebellion in 1900.

The Rise Of College Tuitions
The sudden rise of college tuitions began right after the recession in 2008. Many people lost their

very difficult for every individual to repay their entire college tuitionon time because their job may
be underpaid. If you begin to miss your monthly payments, there will be several consequences

Those with greater financial strain perceived more stress, had more symptoms of depression,

Toad As An Extended Metaphors In Toads By Philip Larkin
In the poem Toads by Philip Larkin, the title announces a metaphor, specifically an extended
metaphor which dominates the poem, which is Larkin utilizing a toad as an extended metaphor for
work and obligation, in order to communicate his idea that individuals have a difficult time living a
fulfilling life, due to one s personal obligation, as well social expectations. Furthermore, the toadis
compared to his obligations in life, as well the life of others who do not work, in order to convey
the idea that individuals feel they are living an unfulfilling life, as a result of personal sense of
obligation, as well social expectations. In addition, the use of figurative language helps to
communicate the idea with greater vividness, being it emphasizes that the speaker is questioning
if his work, is worth his time, being it takes a vast majority of it, in addition, it is just to get by.
Altogether, Larkin s utilizes an extended metaphor, comparing a toad to work and obligations, in
order to bolster his idea with greater force than a prosaic description would have achieved.
Firstly, the usage of a toad as an the extended metaphor, for work and obligation, upholds
Larkin s idea of work being difficult for individuals as a result of one s personal sense of obligation,
as well social expectations, as illustrated by comparing the speaker to the lives of others. As evident,
in the excerpt Are skinny as whippets and yet/ No one actually starves (Lines 19 20), the
speaker, the hard working toad is comparing himself to the lives of other, in order to reveal that
others are living without working as a result of being able to handle not living up to the social
expectations. Moreover, the citation Losels, loblolly men, louts They don t end as paupers
(Lines 11 12), bolsters Larkins idea of work being difficult as a result of one s personal sense of
obligation, by comparing the toads sense of self obligation to work, to the absence of it for
people, thus revealing they are all able to live the same way, due to they avoid work, however the
speaker does not chose to follow that route. Altogether, Larkins, usage of a toad as an extended
metaphor for work and obligation, helps convey his idea with more force than

The Beggar s Opera Essay
The Beggars Opera by John Gay was written in 1728 as a response to the political state in
London. Gay moved to London with no expectation of writing a satirical musical. Coming from
no money, no title, and no useful contacts he tried to find his own destiny. He took a job as an
apprentice to a silk merchant in an attempt to build his status. After realizing that he did not want
to pursue a career in silk, he moved on to working in a theater. He was then offered a jobs working
for different nobilities in London, gaining substantial connections with various members of the arts
community. Through his time with the upper crust of London, he noticed a flaw in society. His
view on the upper class along with his connections, his love for music, and his ability to write
poetry led to the writing of The Beggar s Opera. By definition a musical has five essential
elements: music and lyrics, a book/libretto, choreography, staging, and a physical production. If
this is the true standard of a musical, then I believe The Beggar s Opera by John Gay is the first
musical. First, various composers wrote the music for The Beggar s Opera because it was really

aims to compete in the changing market demands can only be successful if and when it is
executed with full cooperation from the overall organization. Hence, resistance to change must be

(Bridges, 2000). For this reason some employees tend to resist change. According to (Haslam et

V is an interesting character, both fear and loved by the people around him. As much as he can
be admirable leader clearly there are some very strange aspects about his character. When
reading through the play one tends to wonder who King Henry really is. As he enters in
different scenarios and interacts with different people we see a dramatic shift in his personality.
Though on one hand it is not a bad thing, perhaps he understands what type of people want in
different situation and he seems to mold his personality accordingly. On the other hand, however,
one can look at this as an act of deceit even comparing King Henry to the modern day politicians
who are often accused of being deceitful by putting up a character for their own advantage. All in
all, it is very evident that King Henry has a multi faceted personality and he uses it to his own
advantage. Shakespeare intentionally showed this in the play to show In his speechat the wall of
Harfleur King Henry shows a very brutal side of himself when trying to invade France showing
how merciless and how plainly vicious he can be . The purpose of this paper is to show how in
the play, Henry the fifth by William Shakespeareand the film version by Kenneth Branagh both
show that Henry is that although Henry is not a good person morally speaking but is a
successful king .Who uses his many faces to deceive people but also create his empire .During
the speech at the wall of Harfleur, King Henry shows a very brutal and harsh side of his
personality very different from what he has been showing before. In the dramatic text, the speech
was delivered in blank verse to show the status of who was speaking and to set the tone of the
speech. In the film version, Branagh too interpreted this scene as a very intense moment by the way
in which showed the scene in the film. The scene was set by putting Henry in a dark alley on his
horse , when he speaks the camera was put at a low angle to make it seem as though the audience
was looking up at him. He was placed in the dark with the

Compare and Contrast 2Pac Saint John the Baptist Essay
Compare and Contrast
2Pac Saint John the Baptist
Although they lived in very different times, Tupac Shakur and Saint John the Baptist had many
commonalities. Both became extremely famous for expressing what they believed. The media s
portrayal of Tupac Shakur as a tattooed thug has focused public attention on his accused crimes
instead of his music. This rapper, raised in Marin City, California, by a Black Panther mother, is
more complex than his enemies like to admit. Shakur (who performs as 2Pac) was a talented
lyricist with a gift for storytelling and getting his point across to our youth. He continued to grow
as a writer on his hard hitting album, All Eyez on Me which benefits from West Coast style
production by such artists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Effects Of Aerobic Exercise On Pregnancy
Effects of Aerobic Exercise on Pregnancy Aerobic exercise is another fantastic type of physical
activity for pregnant women. It is a great alternative for mothers who are apprehensive about
resistance training. Aerobic exercise guidelines for mostly sedentary pregnant women state that
they should perform at about 60% 70% of their heart rate maximum, and guidelines for active
pregnant women suggest they perform at about 60% 90% of their heart rate maximum (11). The
United States guidelines supports exercise throughout the full nine months of pregnancyas a positive
decision for expecting mothers (2).
Just a handful of gains made while aerobically exercising during pregnancy include maintaining
weight, less complications with delivery, a shorter labor, a decrease in stress, less back pain, a
decrease in arterial stiffness, improved posture, increased self confidence, improved insulin
sensitivity and glycogen storing, better sleep, a decreased risk of preeclampsia, decreased pelvic
girdle pain, and an increased quality of life (6, 9, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 19, 23). It is also important
to acknowledge that mothers who exercised 3 months before they became pregnant experienced
even more advantages with a significant decrease in pregnancy discomforts (9). In two separate
studies made up of 43 and 37 pregnant women, mothers participated in a moderate aerobic exercise
program. In the first study mothers were trained with general exercise machines, and in the second
mothers performed

The Id, Ego and Superego Shown in Frankenstein and Dr....
Frankenstein: the Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and
Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson both show Freud s ideas of Id, Ego and Superego as well
as of innate desire. Frankenstein: the Modern Prometheus shows Freud s stages of psychosexual
development. Collectively both novels should be considered Freudian through these ideas. Jekyll
and Hyde works as a symbolic portrayal of the goodness and evil that resides in equal measure
within the soul of a man. It pre empted Freudian psychoanalysis by twenty five years and yet is
similar to some of his theories. In Frankenstein both the monster and Victor exemplify Freud s
developmental stages.

It is all at an end. And indeed he does not want my help; you do not know him as I do; he is safe,
he is quite safe; mark my words, he will never more be heard of (Stevenson 66).
Despite saying this Jekyll still succumbs to his Id and Hyde is drawn out again. Jekyll knows of
the evil that comes out when he transforms into Hyde. Jekyll says This, as I take it, was because
all human beings, as we meet them are commingled out of good and evil: and Edward Hyde
alone in the ranks of mankind, was pure evil (Stevenson 108). Here Jekyll clearly states that he
knows Hyde is evil yet he still cannot overpower his Id and then his Superego is overcome. By
turning into Hyde, Jekyll feels free and can do whatever he wants without the slightest
hesitation. Following his innate desires Hyde murders Sir Danvers Carew and tramples a
young girl. These actions are done through the Id and even though Jekyll is civilized law abiding
man once the Id has taken over and he transforms into Hyde, his dark side is unleashed. Dr.
Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are but one; one body but two conflicting characters, the good and evil. In
Frankenstein: the Modern Prometheus we see the monster as the outward expression of Victor s Id
or his demoniacal passions. Freud believed that personality develops through a series of childhood
stages during which the pleasure seeking energies of the id become focused on certain behaviors.
These childhood stages are known as the psycosexual developmental stages.

The Pros And Cons Of Derek Bentley s Case
During the processes, there are some key people that will contribute to clarify what happened.
Among them, the police, the forensic service, the expert witnesses or witnesses testimony. Sadly,
while sometimes those are the ones who elucidate the crime, at times, their confessions may be
critical for the innocent person who is finally convicted because of their lies and corruption. The
role of the police is central to understanding wrongful convictions, because they gather the evidence,
they interview the suspect and they build the case for conviction . Meanwhile, forensic science is
the application of the natural science to matter of the law and it includes a variety of different

Christopher Barry Research Paper
How do the directors Christopher Barry and Charles Palmer express science fiction in the Doctor
who original serial (1965) and reboot (2007)?
Doctor Who is a British science fiction television program that has been produced by the BBC
since 1963. The original series aired from 1963 until 1989 and was revived in 2005 with a new
series and numerous spinoffs. The protagonist in both the original and the reboot, is The Doctor
, an extraterrestrial being from the planet Gallifrey. The Doctor explores time and space in a
time travelling space ship called the TARDIS, (Time And Relative Dimensions In Space). Many
companions are introduced over the series to accompany The Doctor. To explore the differences
and similarities in these serials, two episodes The Rescue, and Smith and Jones will be explored.
In The rescue, 1965 directed by Christopher Barry, The Doctor and his companions, Ian and
Barbara arrive on the planet Dido and find a crashed spaceship with the only two survivors of which

Barry and Palmer use contrasting cinematic techniques within their episodes to explore and
emphasise the concepts of science fiction. In The Rescue Barry uses a medium shot to film the
majority of the episode and uses various panning shots to set the scene while Palmer uses low
shot angles and two shots to emphasize drama in events. Barry uses a panning shot in the first
scene to show the inside of a crashed spaceship, this is used to set the scene of the episode and
introduce technology in the following scenes. Whereas Palmer uses a medium close up of Martha
as she is informed that the rain is going up . This allows the introduction of science fiction in a more
dramatic view. A major feature that is present in the reboot serial is the addition of music to
accompany the scenes. This is not present in the rescue and resulted in a less intriguing and more
informational view of science fiction in the

Electronic Patient Care Records (EPCR)
Not so in healthcare or public safety. Especially during emergencies, if a product fails to work as
intended or to work at all it can mean lost productivity, mountainous legal fees, brain death, or loss
of life, limb and property.
Healthcare IT offers outsized benefits to Emergency Response teams, which depend on speed,
ease of training and use, data accuracy, and interoperability. But the stakes of failure or disruption
are so high that one can say there are few areas of development with a more desperate need for
criticism.
And criticism there has been! Few complaints garner broader consensus among Fire and EMS
practitioners than that leading manufacturers of electronic patient care records ( ePCR ) have
abysmally neglected UX and design considerations. Agencies and their patients pay the price
through decreased productivity and even lost records. As Tom Bouthillet, a fire captain, paramedic,

Art In The Age Of Mechanical Reproduction
In order to properly argue my point it is best to lay out the framework of Benjamin s argument.
Benjamin begins his essay, The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction by briefly
distinguishing his categories from traditional aesthetic values, those of creativity and genius,
eternal value and mystery (Benjamin, 218). In contrast, he relates these tendencies to bourgeois
and fascist ideologies and to the conditions, inevitably generated out of capitalism itself, which
provoke revolutionary demands in the politics of art (217 8) Benjamin claims that in times past
the role of art has been to provide a magical foundation for the cult. Here the artwork s use value
was located in its central position within ritual and religious tradition (223 4). A statue or idol
conveyed a sense of authority, or magical power, which inhered in that particular historical
artifact. The reproduction in mass of such an item would have been unthinkable because it was a
unique singularity, and it would lose its aura . He focuses on describing the objects aura, defining
the aura as: We define the aura of the later as the unique phenomenon of a distance, however close
it may be. If, while resting on a summer afternoon, you follow with your eyes a mountain range on
the horizon or a branch which casts its shadow over you, you experience the aura of those
mountains, of that branch (222 3). The term implies an atmosphere and a transcendent feeling that
happens when you experience an object.

Louisiana Voodoo Research Paper
Louisiana Voodoo The Voodoo tradition that is alive and well in Louisiana today is brought to the
United States care of the slave trade from the early 16th century. West African slaves in the south
kept their traditions alive in the US, despite an overwhelming and coercive Roman Catholic
influence. Late in the evening, and behind closed doors, slaves returned to their roots to practice the
traditions that their owners disapproved of. Despite their desire to keep their African traditions
alive, they were powerless to stop the forceful nature of the Roman Catholic traditions. After many
years, a new ritual order arose that blended Roman Catholicism and ancestral West African
traditions: LouisianaVoodoo. Forced to start their religion over,

Lord Of The Flies Allusion Analysis
Human has the humanity which is a combined of heart, peace, care, help, and love. And thinking
make us different from other living organelles, thinking a head of what would happen before do
anything. Human is a curious person but there are some smarter than others because they
understand the problem and try to find a solutions from different point of views. But what can stop
us... what can make us hate others or even killing each other in direct or undirect ways .
Lord of the Flies allusion to many things that help us to understand the story like the Garden of Eden
. The garden was similar to the island. Ralph said, This is our island. It s a good island. Until the
grownups come to fetch us, we ll have fun (Golding 35). At the beginning of the book, the boys
had to discover the island to know it, and some of them were naked because they were innocent
and didn t know much as an adult person. They didn t know if this is right or wrong. Adam and Eve
knew nothing about life, garden, themselves, and others. They had to discover and learn things. It
would be easier to learn the right things from the beginning, because it will reduce the
consequences for the person and society. In addition, Jack said, I ought to be chief, (Golding 20).
Jack was similar to Eve because she persuaded Adam to eat from the tree and Jack persuaded the
kids to follow him and supported him as a leader. They did it because the desire made them as a
blind person who pretended that he/she

Endosulfan Literature Review
Impact of Endosulfan on Male Reproductive functions a review
ABSTRACT
Endosulfan is an organochlorine insecticide and acaracide used to control a broad range of insect
and arthropod pests on a wide variety of crops in many agrosystems. It can cause acute and chronic
toxicity. Endosulfan is a neurotoxin, haematoxin, genotoxin and nephrotoxin. Toxicity of this
insecticide on reproductive organs is confirmed. So this article reviews experimental and
epidemiological studies of reproductive toxicity of endosulfan in males. The Literature search was
carried on PubMed for the years 1994 2014. Twelve experimental studies and two humanstudies on
Male Reproductive Toxicity induced by endosulfan were identified. Based on the findings, it
suggest that endosulfan can affect the male reproductive system and also that these effects are
likely to be larger if exposure occurs during the developmental phase. Further investigation of
endosulfan as reproductive toxicant is warranted.

The History of the Hudson Bay Company
Fur trading started between the Europeans along with the Aboriginals when the most valuable
beaver pelts was a substituted for metal and clothing goods such as iron knives and axis, copper

reason that using this fur for headgear provided an elegant way to keep dry. However these pelts
were for fashion, as men and women could be instantly noted within the social hierarchy by

frightened that the voyage would shift the focus away from the St. Lawrence. In doing so the
governor of New France, Marquis d Argenson, seized 90% of the furs as taxes and fines! The
punishment was activated because the two men had violated the law for fur trading without a
license. Not only did the confiscation of their pelts were taken place, but they even jailed des

colony. During the next three years the two men tried their best at persuading Boston clients to
fund voyages to Hudson Bay. Their luck finally approached when their idea of rising demand for
furs into Hudson Bay attracted the attention of Colonel George Cartwright. Cartwright was in New
England to extract taxes from the new colony when he heard this opportunity from Groseilliers

Cindy Sherman Research Paper
The artist I researched is Cindy Sherman. She is a American Photographer born on January 19,
1954 in Glen Ridge, New jersey. Her parents had five children and Cindy was the youngest of
them all. Her parents were not quit interested in art. Her dad was a engineer and her mom was a
teacher. In the early 1970s, Cindy enrolled at State University of New York to study art. There,
Cindy discovered that painting was not her gift. Cindy stated, I didn t want to make high art, I had
no interest in using paint, I wanted to find something that anyone could relate to without knowing
about contemporary art. I wasn t thinking in terms of precious prints or archival quality; I didn t
want the work to seem like a commodity. She could not express her artwork through panting.
Instead, she began to take photos. A lot of photographers take photos of other people and objects.

the scream queen in the movie King Kong and Dorothy from the Wizard of oz. I honestly do not
understand how this artwork demonstrates the roles that Sherman are playing. When I looked at
the picture and read the title, I interpreted she was scared and has been hurt before. She got her
heart broke and discovered that true love is only in fairy tales, however, her fairytale was a
disaster. This was not the meaning of the photo at all. According to The Art Story website, By
freezing the image into a kind of sorry, secular icon, Sherman demonstrates how art may act as a
visual truth serum, a force of social change by way of its ability to stop a viewer in his/her tracks
and suggest how certain assumptions are culturally inherited, not necessarily

Fuzzy Multi Objective Particle Swarm Optimization
This approach propose a fuzzy multi objective particle swarm optimization (FMOPSO) for solving
TCQT problem. The parameters of cost, time and quality are defined by fuzzy numbers and a fuzzy
multi attribute utility procedure is used with limits of fuzzy arithmetic operation to adopt and
evaluate the selected construction methods. The proposed method is justified and implemented
through computational analyses.
The above method suggests optimal combination of construction method with the large fuzzy
composite utility by the means of particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique will be searched
out. The fuzzy multiple attribute required function governed by constrained fuzzy operations will
be added with the PSO method.
The framework of the fuzzy multi objective particle swarm optimization (FMOPSO) for solving
the fuzzy TCQT problem will be presented. The PSO simulates a social behavior scenario such as
bird flocking to certain position. A particle is assigned attributes of velocity and position and
defined as a point in multi dimensional space. The particle position depicts a candidate solution
to the task at hand. A swarm of particles (birds) fly toward an optimal defined position according
to the evolving method that utilizes the best experience (or position) of a particle (called local
best) and the best experience (or position) ever identified by any particle (called global best). To
show how effective is the proposed fuzzy multi objective particle swarm optimization

  • 2. Pros And Cons Of Military Dictatorship Why is the military dictatorship not good? It is supposed to believe that Thais are well accustomed with the military dictatorship because Thailand has been launched a coup d Г©tat by a military for 13 times since 1932. When it changed the government system from absolute monarchy to constitutional monarchy on June 24th, 1932 by the promoters, called Khana Rasadon including civil servants and the military elite. They seized the power of King Rama VII and declared the first constitution. After that, Thailandshould become more democratic, but it would not. The military elite quite has a big role in Thai politics. According to the history, the incidents on October 14th,1973 when it was under controlled by the Thanom dictatorship. Students... In June 23rd 2016, the military and police officers arrested the seven activists, who campaigned to vote no in the referendum for the 2016 constitution. The NCPO claimed that this campaign was distorting the constitution and disobeying the article 61 of referendum legislation (2016), although this referendum would mean the future of citizens. Furthermore, media are also prevented from presenting any content which is against them. Due to the NCPO announcement, volume 97 and 103/2014 showed any publishing that criticizes the government and gives negative effects on them are not allowed. If anybody or group disobeys that, he or she will be examined the professional ethics and banned (2014). On November 14th, 2014, Matichon reported, Nattaya Vaewweerakup, a TPBS correspondent, was removed from the TV program, The voice of citizens before reforming, after a group of military met the chief executive of TPBS. • 3. Call Of Duty Historical Facts Video games are one of the many ways that history is present in my daily life. Many videogames try to replicate history and Call of Duty is one of them. I am going to be focusing on Call of Duty: World at War. This version of the game is about the Second World War, and you get to play as soldiers on both sides on the war. The game is very brutal and violent, and because you will be playing as an American soldier and as a Germen soldier, the game can better explain what happened during WW2. My initial thoughts about the historical facts that take place during the game was that they were inaccurate. Because the game was developed and published by American companies, I automatically thought that it would favor the Allies and specially The United ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Belly dancers were performed by both male and female. During this time men became increasingly popular all over the world therefore, were considered female impersonators by some. They were also actors and musicians, because women were not allowed to perform in public. Now a days Turkish male belly dancers are becoming extremely popular in nightclubs and television shows. Turkish belly dancers were very flamboyant. Although their costumes were flirtatious and playful. They were normally made to show more of the dancers body and had lots of cut outs. • 5. The Fascination Of War Literature War is full of death and destruction, it is full of a lot of things including literature. In war there are no rules, the same is for literature there are no rules the possibility of what to write about is endless. My fascination of war truly began when my grandfather started to open up about what he went through in the Vietnam War. Most soldiers who have went to war and have come back are not the same as when they left. It is very hard for them to talk about what they have been through while at war, but when they talk one should listen because they may never be able to have the strength to tell that story again. One may not realize how much it takes for a Veteran to tell a story of what they went through, because as they are telling the story they are re living the story mentally. Most soldiers are not capable of telling stories without having to go through counseling. In most cases if a soldier was to try to tell a story without counseling, they will freak out thinking they are back in the place that brought them the trauma. In today s world it is mandatory for Veterans to receive counseling to help them with their trauma instead of trying to figure it out their selves. Therefore, war literature is very important because of the meaning behind it all. We should give respect to war literature, especially if it comes from a solider himself. When one should read about war literature they should take into consideration of how hard it might have been for the person to talk ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Extracellular Loop The extracellular loops of GPCRs are important for receptor function. They contribute to protein folding, provide structure to the extracellular region and mediate movement of the TM helices on activation. The second extracellular loop (ECL2) is of significance for ligand binding and receptor activation. In family B (or secretin like) GPCRs, it is the most conserved and often the longest of all the ECLs, and so is in a good position to interact with the endogenous peptide agonists for these receptors and is in a prominent central position to mediate conformational changes 17. Mutations within ECL2 have been shown to affect GLP 1 binding and efficiency, indicating an important role in GLP 1R activation. Interestingly, some mutations... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The structural features of ECL2 and high lipophilicity of TAK 875 (which shows approximately 380 fold preference for lipophilic phase over aqueous phase) suggest that TAK 875 most probably enters the binding pocket of hGPR40 through the lipid bilayer14. Looking at Figure 3, the crystal structure of FFA1 provides a good starting point for understanding ligand docking which predicts the preferred orientation of one molecule to a second molecule when bound to each other to form a stable complex. Although docking of flexible Linoleic acid which is a natural ligand is the least reliable, it helps to generate hypotheses as to how agonistic activity of Linoleic acid could be amplified by synthetic agonists, like TAK 875, at a structural level. For example, targeting Arginines, which are О± amino acids that are used in the biosynthesis of proteins, from the extracellular side by substituting existing water mediated contacts could still leave a possibility of targeting the Arginines from the side involved in interactions with amino acids Tyrosines. The fact that the ligands could have different binding modes and occupy different binding sites at FFA1 can be also seen from a site map search (Schrodinger, LLC, New York, NY, USA 2014b) (Fig. 3, E)11. • 7. Persuasive Essay On Circus Animals A little girl got lost behind a circus on her way to the bathroom, only to come out and see an elephant being hooked and whipped by multiple grown men at the same time. She noticed it was the same elephant that tripped on stage 5 minutes before. I could have been that little girl, and I know I d be terrified to ever go back to a circusor zoo again. As an animallover, I wanted to see something done about the situation. It s not fair to animals. Circuses shouldn t even be a thing. Animals deserve a fair life in the wild where they belong. They shouldn t have to be absolutely terrified every time they make the even smallest mistake. While researching this topic I found I had few questions that weren t answered in any articles. How long has this been going on? Why haven t people tried to fix this earlier? But there was one question, my driving question, the one I really wanted an answer to. It was: What can I do to help animals around the world from being abused in entertainment? After researching through videos, articles, and podcasts I ve found that there aren t many that had solutions, but there are still many possible solutions. Many animals in entertainment often get abused for the slightest mistakes, they get abuse from slashing to even being killed Circus animals are shocked, slashed with sharp hooks, whipped, beaten with clubs and even starved. Circuses often say the animals perform out of love for their owners, but thatЕ› completely false. They perform out of fear of being beaten and whipped. Animals that try to escape their enclosures don t only get shocked or cut by the wire fences but are even sometimes shot to death. ThatВґs ashaming. If the animals are so important to the zoos and circuses then why treat them the way they do? These animals don t even get the proper vet care, and with all the injuries they get a day, they need it. Animals should be getting a checkup at the least, every two months and especially circus animals, because of how active they are. Animals in zoos and circuses are never taught to survive in the wild. So if at one point an animal is replaced and put into the wild, theyВґll easily get hunted and/or attacked. IВґm all for cute tricks and fun. But the way these animals are ... • 8. Summary Of Celia Behind Me Isabel Huggan s Celia Behind Me is a short story about bullying. It depicts a young Elizabeth who finds solace and is accepted by her peers because she takes part in intimidating her schoolmate Celia. Unlike them, she goes too far, physically assaults the girl and, unknowingly, digs a hole into a world of suffering and despair. Using various repeating motifs and a similar characterization of the two characters, Huggan demonstrates that those who purposefully do wrong to others will eventually also suffer themselves. The native Indian origin of Mexicans, in that more than 80% have some form of Indian heritage mixed in with Spanish, is reflected in the foods and worldview. I also understand, very well, that if an offering of foodis not accepted, the person that declines the food has made a huge error and considered rude. In My Darling Clementine, as Wyatt and Clementine are watching the festivities, and even though there is a permeating sound of feet stomping, music playing, and happy chatter, we can still clearly hear Wyatt asking Clementine to dance. With Once Upon a Time in the West, a layered collection of soundeffects is used instead of any dialogue or musicto emphasize the silence of the train station and eventually the arrival of the train itself. Sound mixing is also used in both clips, but with differing effect. In My Darling Clementine, as Wyatt and Clementine walk towards the dancing on the church foundations, we gradually hear the music and dancing grow louder, emphasizing their relative position and the audience s awareness of their location. • 13. Scientific Management And Human Relations Scientific Management and Human Relations are two different management approaches. In Scientific Management, managers are responsible to think and workers do. Frederick Winslow Taylor (1856 1915) develops the Principles of Time and Motion Study, which leads to a conclusion that certain people have a higher work efficiency compared to the others. In his means, cooperation is to do what workers are told to do without asking questions or making suggestions. (as cited in Miller Form, 1924). Human Relation Management was founded by Professor Elton Mayo (1880 1949). During the industrial revolution in early 1920 s, Mayo initiated the Human Relation Theory of Management. A psychologist, Henry C. Link (as cited in Miller Form, 1924, p. 657) relates that the ideal employment method is receiving applicants from all kinds at one end, sort, interview, and record them, before labelling them with the righteous job. • 15. Corporate Tax And Corporate Income Tax Introduction I believe that there should be corporate income tax, as it acts as a user fee for the special privileges (Rosen, Ch 19) corporations receive. The corporate income tax is a separate tax on corporate income, in which varies in a bracket between ten percent and thirty five percent. The effective corporate income taxrate is estimated at thirty two percent, and eighteen percent for non corporations. Workers compensation, labor expenses, interest payments, and depreciation are tax deductible from taxable income. Since corporations sell stock to stockholders, those stockholders purchased a certain percentage of the corporation. In turn, purchasing a portion of the corporate liability. If a stockholder accumulates income within the corporation in which he holds stock shares, he reduces his tax liability. Although the shareholder s additional income would eventually be taxed, his stock will grow at the before tax rate of interest. This benefits the corporation and the shareholders, as neither party holds the entire liability, nor do the shareholders pay debt if the corporation is not generating profit. Corporate income taxalso preserves the integrity of personal income tax. I believe that there should be corporate income tax, as the lack there of could create potential opportunities for personal tax avoidance (Rosen, Ch 19). In the story A Very Old Man With Wings , Gabriel Garcia Marquez writes about the discovery of a big winged old man by a crab hunter named Pelayo. As the world became cloudy, the appearance of a magical man with wings would scare, excite and bring hope to a neighborhood for the foreseeable future. This man looked old and defeated, while Pelayo looked at him with a confused expression, or a mute stupor . Gabriel Garcia Marquez describes the old man as bald with fading hairs, almost toothless and huge buzzard wings. Meanwhile as most came to ridicule, some actually would come to seek the help of the angel, by hoping he really was magic and could cure all of their health issues. The angel would take no part in this act, so with human tendencies Gabriel Garcia Marquez would illustrate that the angel had a form of magic but also possessed a human soul. Why would Gabriel Garcia Marquez use magic in this story? Maybe magic symbolizes faith in a higher power that possesses powers a normal human being would know nothing about. Gabriel Garcia Marquez describes the characters in this story as being greedy and wanting resolutions from the angel. Pelayo and his wife wanted money, the priest wanted proof and other villagers wanted answers. Originating in the 1900 s, a secret organisation called the Society of the Righteous and Harmonious Fists, began carrying out attacks on Chinese Christians and foreigners. They became known in the West as the boxers , for their martial arts fighting style. What caused the Boxer Rebellion? There were three main causes. The first cause for the Boxer Rebellion, was the anti foreign stance in China. As a result of suffering humiliating defeats in both the first, and second Opium wars, China was forced to grant concessions to foreigners. Furthermore, they had to sign the unequal treaties which allowed the West to gain a significant amount of control over China. This left the Chinese population poverty stricken, and angry at foreign powers. The economy became disrupted by the arrival of modernity and industrialism. According to historian David Silbey Many Chinese worked in industries that were disrupted by the arrival of the railroad and the telegraph. There was a sense that China s balance had been thrown out of whack by these modern innovations, and only by destroying the innovations and the foreigners who brought them could the balance be restored. . Many people lost their jobs, and their current jobs were not paying well enough for them to survive through this devastating time. More people turned to higher education and college tuition began to rise because obtaining college majors will guarantee a higher pay other than minimum wage. This downturn didn t end here because over the years, tuitionrose even higher. In 2014, the debt for college students reached to 1.2 trillion dollars, that is an eighty four percent major increase since the recession. It is very difficult for every individual to repay their entire college tuitionon time because their job may be underpaid. If you begin to miss your monthly payments, there will be several consequences right ahead of you. Coming from a 2013 study, published in Anxiety, Coping and Stress stated, Those with greater financial strain perceived more stress, had more symptoms of depression, anxiety, and ill health. There are many existing highly stressful situations that cause college students to drop out. Students that depend on themselves, with no help from their families are more likely to drop out due to financial issues. In the dental field, people who major in Orthodontics specialize in straightening their patients teeth using braces to help them feel confident in their smiles. Another career I will be researching is Kindergarten teaching because I enjoy being around small children and have much patience in dealing with their problems. Dentist always do their job indoors in a dental clinic. They are constantly in physical contact with their patients while working on the inside of their mouths. Because of this, they are required to wear latex gloves and glasses to protect their hands from the bacteria of the mouth and their eyes from anything that could possibly be spat by their patients ( Dentists ). • 37. Toad As An Extended Metaphors In Toads By Philip Larkin In the poem Toads by Philip Larkin, the title announces a metaphor, specifically an extended metaphor which dominates the poem, which is Larkin utilizing a toad as an extended metaphor for work and obligation, in order to communicate his idea that individuals have a difficult time living a fulfilling life, due to one s personal obligation, as well social expectations. Furthermore, the toadis compared to his obligations in life, as well the life of others who do not work, in order to convey the idea that individuals feel they are living an unfulfilling life, as a result of personal sense of obligation, as well social expectations. In addition, the use of figurative language helps to communicate the idea with greater vividness, being it emphasizes that the speaker is questioning if his work, is worth his time, being it takes a vast majority of it, in addition, it is just to get by. Altogether, Larkin s utilizes an extended metaphor, comparing a toad to work and obligations, in order to bolster his idea with greater force than a prosaic description would have achieved. Firstly, the usage of a toad as an the extended metaphor, for work and obligation, upholds Larkin s idea of work being difficult for individuals as a result of one s personal sense of obligation, as well social expectations, as illustrated by comparing the speaker to the lives of others. As evident, in the excerpt Are skinny as whippets and yet/ No one actually starves (Lines 19 20), the speaker, the hard working toad is comparing himself to the lives of other, in order to reveal that others are living without working as a result of being able to handle not living up to the social expectations. Moreover, the citation Losels, loblolly men, louts They don t end as paupers (Lines 11 12), bolsters Larkins idea of work being difficult as a result of one s personal sense of obligation, by comparing the toads sense of self obligation to work, to the absence of it for people, thus revealing they are all able to live the same way, due to they avoid work, however the speaker does not chose to follow that route. • 40. The Beggar s Opera Essay The Beggars Opera by John Gay was written in 1728 as a response to the political state in London. Gay moved to London with no expectation of writing a satirical musical. Coming from no money, no title, and no useful contacts he tried to find his own destiny. He took a job as an apprentice to a silk merchant in an attempt to build his status. After realizing that he did not want to pursue a career in silk, he moved on to working in a theater. He was then offered a jobs working for different nobilities in London, gaining substantial connections with various members of the arts community. Through his time with the upper crust of London, he noticed a flaw in society. His view on the upper class along with his connections, his love for music, and his ability to write poetry led to the writing of The Beggar s Opera. By definition a musical has five essential elements: music and lyrics, a book/libretto, choreography, staging, and a physical production. If this is the true standard of a musical, then I believe The Beggar s Opera by John Gay is the first musical. There is no denying that Henry the V is an interesting character, both fear and loved by the people around him. As much as he can be admirable leader clearly there are some very strange aspects about his character. When reading through the play one tends to wonder who King Henry really is. As he enters in different scenarios and interacts with different people we see a dramatic shift in his personality. Though on one hand it is not a bad thing, perhaps he understands what type of people want in different situation and he seems to mold his personality accordingly. On the other hand, however, one can look at this as an act of deceit even comparing King Henry to the modern day politicians who are often accused of being deceitful by putting up a character for their own advantage. All in all, it is very evident that King Henry has a multi faceted personality and he uses it to his own advantage. Shakespeare intentionally showed this in the play to show In his speechat the wall of Harfleur King Henry shows a very brutal side of himself when trying to invade France showing how merciless and how plainly vicious he can be . The purpose of this paper is to show how in the play, Henry the fifth by William Shakespeareand the film version by Kenneth Branagh both show that Henry is that although Henry is not a good person morally speaking but is a successful king .Who uses his many faces to deceive people but also create his empire .During the speech at the wall of Harfleur, King Henry shows a very brutal and harsh side of his personality very different from what he has been showing before. In the dramatic text, the speech was delivered in blank verse to show the status of who was speaking and to set the tone of the speech. In the film version, Branagh too interpreted this scene as a very intense moment by the way in which showed the scene in the film. These actions are done through the Id and even though Jekyll is civilized law abiding man once the Id has taken over and he transforms into Hyde, his dark side is unleashed. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are but one; one body but two conflicting characters, the good and evil. • 50. Art In The Age Of Mechanical Reproduction In order to properly argue my point it is best to lay out the framework of Benjamin s argument. Benjamin begins his essay, The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction by briefly distinguishing his categories from traditional aesthetic values, those of creativity and genius, eternal value and mystery (Benjamin, 218). In contrast, he relates these tendencies to bourgeois and fascist ideologies and to the conditions, inevitably generated out of capitalism itself, which provoke revolutionary demands in the politics of art (217 8) Benjamin claims that in times past the role of art has been to provide a magical foundation for the cult. Here the artwork s use value was located in its central position within ritual and religious tradition (223 4). A statue or idol conveyed a sense of authority, or magical power, which inhered in that particular historical artifact. The reproduction in mass of such an item would have been unthinkable because it was a unique singularity, and it would lose its aura . He focuses on describing the objects aura, defining the aura as: We define the aura of the later as the unique phenomenon of a distance, however close it may be. If, while resting on a summer afternoon, you follow with your eyes a mountain range on the horizon or a branch which casts its shadow over you, you experience the aura of those mountains, of that branch (222 3). Cartwright was in New England to extract taxes from the new colony when he heard this opportunity from Groseilliers and Radisson. He urged the two gentlemen to travel with him to England to seek sponsorship. The coureur de bois heard many tales that the Cree nation (west of Lake Superior) had valuable rich furs and they knew the best way to get these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Cindy Sherman Research Paper The artist I researched is Cindy Sherman. She is a American Photographer born on January 19, 1954 in Glen Ridge, New jersey. Her parents had five children and Cindy was the youngest of them all. Her parents were not quit interested in art. Her dad was a engineer and her mom was a teacher. In the early 1970s, Cindy enrolled at State University of New York to study art. There, Cindy discovered that painting was not her gift. Cindy stated, I didn t want to make high art, I had no interest in using paint, I wanted to find something that anyone could relate to without knowing about contemporary art. I wasn t thinking in terms of precious prints or archival quality; I didn t want the work to seem like a commodity. She could not express her artwork through panting. Instead, she began to take photos. A lot of photographers take photos of other people and objects. Cindy is different. She mostly took... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is a picture of Sherman bent down and looking up. She has both of her hands down with a whit collard shirt on. Sherman is looking up with brown short wet hair. Her whole background is dark, while the light is specifically on her. It looks as if she is terrified. She is playing the role of the scream queen in the movie King Kong and Dorothy from the Wizard of oz. I honestly do not understand how this artwork demonstrates the roles that Sherman are playing. When I looked at the picture and read the title, I interpreted she was scared and has been hurt before. She got her heart broke and discovered that true love is only in fairy tales, however, her fairytale was a disaster. This was not the meaning of the photo at all. According to The Art Story website, By freezing the image into a kind of sorry, secular icon, Sherman demonstrates how art may act as a visual truth serum, a force of social change by way of its ability to stop a viewer in his/her tracks and suggest how certain assumptions are culturally inherited, not necessarily ... • 57. Fuzzy Multi Objective Particle Swarm Optimization This approach propose a fuzzy multi objective particle swarm optimization (FMOPSO) for solving TCQT problem. The parameters of cost, time and quality are defined by fuzzy numbers and a fuzzy multi attribute utility procedure is used with limits of fuzzy arithmetic operation to adopt and evaluate the selected construction methods. The proposed method is justified and implemented through computational analyses. The above method suggests optimal combination of construction method with the large fuzzy composite utility by the means of particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique will be searched out. The fuzzy multiple attribute required function governed by constrained fuzzy operations will be added with the PSO method. The framework of the fuzzy multi objective particle swarm optimization (FMOPSO) for solving the fuzzy TCQT problem will be presented. The PSO simulates a social behavior scenario such as bird flocking to certain position. A particle is assigned attributes of velocity and position and defined as a point in multi dimensional space. The particle position depicts a candidate solution to the task at hand. A swarm of particles (birds) fly toward an optimal defined position according to the evolving method that utilizes the best experience (or position) of a particle (called local best) and the best experience (or position) ever identified by any particle (called global best). To show how effective is the proposed fuzzy multi objective particle swarm optimization ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
