Lesson 10: Developing Your Artistry Career Plan (Revised)
Career goal:
 To become a Music producer/ Open my own studio/ Create my own
label
Requirements:
 Bachelor's degree in music production 
 Excellent communication skills 
 Excellent critical thinking skills 
 Excellent time management skills 
• Ability to learn new skills
• Good business and management skills
 Good budget management skills 
 Excellent production skills, including the ability to: 
o Operate analog as well as digital equipment during the recording of music
o Run the recording session/ task responsibility to audio engineer
o Set up equipment in the studio prior to the session if necessary
o Select and implement production equipment and techniques
o Craft a recording that meets the artist's or band's desires
o Work closely with audio engineer and music arrangers
o Be able to obtain background vocalists
o Help choose the songs for album
o Mix the recorded tracks into the finished product 
Current skills, interests and experience 
 Produced my own recordings in a home studio
 Associate's degree in Liberal Arts with a 3.65 grade point average 
• Master’s Certificate in Music Production using Pro Tools (Berklee) with a 3.93
grade point average
• Strong work Ethic
• Leadership background from years in the military
• Interested in specializing in Hip-Hop
• Ability to think on feet and problem solve
• Interest in the digital aspects and future of the music industry
Plan to reach career goal: 
 Bachelor of Professional Studies, Music Production, Berklee Online 
 Search for an internship to take part in once I graduate 
• Continue to write, record, and produce my own music
• Work with local artists and look for people to collaborate with
• Continue to network and make connections within the industry
• Plan my degree according to my aspirations in order to reach goals
• Shop my finished work around to different labels
• Keep eye open for buildings and areas to open a studio
• Continue to learn about and study new trends, paying close attention to
streaming services and subscriptions
• Register with organizations such as SoundExchange and ASCAP/BMI
• Look further into the legal aspects of:
o Creating an independent label and copyright for it
o Obtaining copyrights for sound recordings, compositions and brand names
o Establishing written agreements for anyone who chooses to go into business
with me as well as any artists who I produce for
