Attempting content marketing without clear content marketing goals and metrics isn't worth doing; It's like nailing jelly to the wall. It won't stick.
Content Marketing is about creating relevant, customer-centric marketing content that moves your potential customers along their buying cycle, toward a decision to purchase from you.
But before you create content to support your marketing efforts, you need to answer several baffling questions like: What types of content should you use? What channels should you engage audiences in? What calls to action should you focus on? What interactions should you measure? What metrics should you track and report on, and how frequently: Daily, weekly, or monthly?
A goal setting framework gives purpose to your content marketing
The purpose of this presentation is to introduce several helpful frameworks for setting content marketing goals and metrics.
Goals are essential to the completion of any strategic activity that requires the best use of resources: Goals give us purpose, destination and direction.
Content marketing is complex and it needs clarity of focus, buy-in from team members, and regular updates for stakeholders on how the activity is tracking toward goal.
I delve beyond Jay Baer’s 4 Buckets of Content Marketing metrics, to oultine a more complete framework for tracking 7 content marketing metrics that marketers simply can’t afford to ignore, and the tools to track them.
Metrics make us accountable to answer tricky questions about content marketing performance like: Does our content appeal to our key audiences? Which formats are working and which aren’t? How is content influencing audiences? Are we forging the basis of better long-term and more efficient relationships with existing and future customers? And how is all of this content activity contributing to our bottom line?
This presentation comes from the Content Marketing Essentials webinar series I produced for Idio, the content intelligence platform, built to help marketers think and act more strategically with their content marketing.

Beefing up your career skills is rather an essential step of achieving true
success. There are some secrets that will aid you in acquiring these skills.
Learning these secrets can be very beneficial indeed.
1. Values Audit
Five factors of my major personal values that have an significant influence on my life
choices are as below.
Integrity: Honesty and moral principles are the basis to be trusted and build a good
reputation.
Perseverance: Persistence in doing something, even if it’s hard is the key to achieve
success.
Responsibility: It is helpful to improve myself through admitting mistakes and
accepting criticism.
Leadership: A good leader can be the example and authoritative.
Collaboration: Good collaboration can improve work efficiency.
It is important to make an accurate definition of own personal values and their role in
career management. A reasonable definition can serve as guiding force when making
decisions and pursuing career options(State-government-of-Victoria 2015). Kapanidis
and Shaw (2014) also stated that personal values is helpful to make a clear career
goal, improve efficiency and save time.
Financial and Accounting are the fields, that I intend to pursue. The capacity to
analysis financial report and assist business to grow wealth are essential in financial
and accounting industry(Lucian 2016). Through undergraduate course, I have
acquired many hard skills that are beneficial for my further work and study. Firstly,
accounting skill is essential in financial field because it can help me accurately record
business trading. Secondly, I learned statistics which is helpful in data analysis and
computer programming. Furthermore, I have grasped how to make risk management
which help me reduce risk and expand benefit. Also, depth knowledge of the capital
market is useful for sales and trading. Finally, I can be adept at English and Chinese
2. which lay a foundation of communication.
Capability Audit
The applications of Soft skills have the same importance of hard skills in many
jobs(Robles Marcel 2012). The capacity to communicate effectively is essential on
the path to employment. Good communication skills are not only useful to improve
quality and reduce costs, but also conducive to develop employee relations and team
works(Karl 2004). Like holding charity project, I get a chance to communicate with
variety of people. Effective communication help me gain more customers, then raise
more money, and less cost when purchasing materials and prize. Also when drawing
up a plan, effective communication make my team unite as one and half the work
with double results.
Secondly, organization and administration abilities are essential to control project
schedule and increase efficiency and quality. As an undersecretary of secretary
department of student union during the first two years in Liaoning University, I
learned how to allocate tasks reasonably and possess ability to organize activities and
coordinate the relationship between different department. The experience made me
get a recognition of superior and staffs.
Thirdly, the ability to work as part of a team is an important factor in determining
whether projects will success. During my third semester in Liaoning University, I took
part in a volleyball match with the other five team members. As a team member, I
had a common goal and trust my teammates. Under the leadership of captain, my
team overcame many difficulties together and played the role of each member to the
maximum. I also learned how to cooperate and found that my efficiency was
constantly improving as a part of team. Finally, my team won the championship with
3. tacit understanding.
Fourthly, Well-developed customer service skills are crucial for increasing customer
sales and developing reputation(Kilday 1996). Since last year, I operated an online
clothing shop on Taobao which is an online trade platform in China. Originally, not
many people knew my store, but I insist on keep patience and positive to answer
customers questions. Such behavior brought me a good reputation and attracted
more customers instead go to a competitor. I learned from the experience that the
key to develop customer service skill is to treat the customer as you would wish to be
treated if the tables were turned.
Fifthly, the capacity to manage projects signify that whole project has a clearly goal
and precise budget and schedule. At the end of the third semester in Liaoning
University, my college held a new year party. As an undersecretary of secretary
department of student union, I got a task to schedule and manage projects. First, I
defined a project scope and made goals clearly about what needs to be
accomplished. Then, developed a work allocation that involved all members of the
team. Also tracked process and cooperated other departments. Through the
experience, I found the best way to manage projects effectively and enhanced my
ability.
Communication is an significant interpersonal skill in current global business
environment (John 2009; Timm 2005). Mitchell(2010) also indicated that it occupies
57% of the importance in current workplace. As an introverted girl, I am nervous to
communicate with strangers. Therefore, it is the major one that I should strengthen.
In order to training communication skills, I prepare an particular action plan. First, I
need to read more books to enrich my knowledge, which is also useful to enhance
confidence. Next, as far as possible to fight for chances to make presentation and
participate activities. During communication, what I have to train is controlling audio
speed and intonation, also use eye contact and body language to interact others.
4. Finally, I will find a part-time job like salesman because it is the best way to
communicate with various of people on my own initiative and overcome shyness .
Personal Branding
Hi, my name is Yu Liu and I am an undergraduate in Victoria University, with a wealth
of experience in accounting and statistic, risk management, and customer service
