Career Goals Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Career Goals" can be both a challenging and introspective
task. The difficulty arises from the need to articulate one's aspirations, plans, and ambitions
coherently, while also demonstrating a clear understanding of the chosen career path. It demands
a delicate balance between personal reflection and professional projection.
To begin, the writer must delve into their own experiences, skills, and passions to create a
narrative that not only outlines their current standing but also maps out the trajectory they
envision for their career. The challenge lies in presenting a compelling story that is not only
believable but also aligns with the expectations of the chosen field.
Moreover, the essay requires thorough research into the chosen career path, industry trends, and
potential challenges. This necessitates a deep understanding of the professional landscape,
adding an extra layer of complexity to the writing process. The essay should showcase a realistic
and well-informed approach, proving that the author has done their homework and is prepared
for the realities of their chosen field.
Furthermore, achieving a balance between ambition and practicality can be challenging. It's
crucial to outline ambitious goals while grounding them in a feasible plan. Striking this balance
requires careful consideration of personal strengths and weaknesses, as well as a realistic
assessment of the resources and opportunities available.
Lastly, the writer must master the art of persuasive communication. The essay should not only be
informative but also persuasive, convincing the reader that the outlined career goals are not only
desirable but also achievable. This requires effective use of language, structure, and a keen
awareness of the target audience.
In conclusion, crafting a "Career Goals Essay" involves a multi-faceted approach that combines
self-reflection, industry research, strategic planning, and persuasive communication. It is a task
that demands time, effort, and a deep understanding of oneself and the chosen career path. For
those seeking assistance in navigating this intricate process, similar essays and more can be

Coming Of Age Story Analysis
One of the most prominent themes in Coming of Age stories is the loss of
innocence. Authors often dramatize this life moment to demonstrate how important
adolescence is to someone s life. In Through the Tunnel, Jerry, the protagonist,
proves this by attempting to swim through an underwater tunnel as a rite of passage.
In The Intruder, Kenneth proves it by having to make a life or death decision, even
though it s not his life on the line. Finally, the narrator of American History proves it
by falling in love with a boy. In those three coming of agestories, the authors utilize
light and dark imagery to show contrast between the light and happy world of
childhood, and the comparatively darker and scarier world of adulthood, and the
loss of childhood innocence. One story that utilizes light and dark symbolism is
The Intruder. In the beginning, Kenneth is sitting outside, watching an imaginary
battle scene take place. He describes the sky as a summer dusk (Dubus, 1). Dusk is
when it s getting darker outside, getting closer to night. This illustrates that
Kenneth is drawing closer to the darker and scarier world of adulthood. This idea
is expanded upon further when, in the middle of the night, he hears a prowler
coming toward the house. The author gives the reader the idea that it s night outside
by saying ..he looked over at the far corner of the room where his rifle was, though
he could not see it.. (Dubus, 13) That tells the reader it s now night because he has
the window
Not Only Natalee Is Missing By Anne-Marie O Connor
When Natalee Holloway went missing her face was plastered on every television
screen to promote her being found. Some people wonder why white females make
national news more often than any other female or male for that matter. In the
argumentative essay Not Only Natalee is Missing Anne Marie O Connor tries to
explain how and why people make national news. O Connor s essay starts out based
on the idea that white females are the only ones that make national news, but her use
of pathos, ethos, and logos, prove this idea to be based upon economic status and race
rather than genderalone.
The author uses pathos to appeal to the audience s sense of open mindedness about
women who make national news. O Connor tries to get the reader to realize how
being human can cause people to overlook certain stories and make them seem
unimportant. In her essay she states, We don t pay as much attention to someone
missing from a community we don t know or are not familiar with (661). This
quotation symbolizes how sometimes people can be overlooked in today s news.
The issue about who makes national news can appeal to more than just a sense of
open mindedness, it can also appeal to your sense of sympathy. When news
reporters get their stories, no one is for sure how long the story can stay lingering
amongst people. Earl Hutchinson, a political analyst, states, When you raise the issue
people say, This is a tragedy and we should do more, Hutchinson said. But it only
lasts a hot minute.
Comparing Oedipus Rex And A Midsummer Night s
A Play s Death Vs Life
A Tragedy is where the story ends unhappily, usually in the death of a main
character, and In a Comedy the story ends happily, often with a marriage
symbolizing the continuation in life and the resolution of the conflict. Oedipus Rex
a tragedy and A Midsummer Night s Dream a comedy are both plays written long
ago containing similarities and differences in Props, Scenery, Makeup and The
Narrative of the Plot which relate to a tragedy or comedy.
The props used in Oedipus Rex and A Midsummer Night Dream both contain a
similarity which is the dresses used by all lady characters in both plays. Dresses were
very popular back then for women. The dresses worn by Jocasta, Hermia and Helena
also had some unique detail and an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A similarity in the scenery of both plays was that both written plays took place in
Greece. A Midsummer Night s dream took place in Athens and Oedipus Rex took
place in Thebes. For most of the film in both plays the play took place outside in a
nature aspect. Most of the scenes were through a dessert and a forest. Something
different in the scenery is that in Oedipus Rex the scene was more desert like and
sad as the drought took place. As page (1130 line 28) says Look around you, see
with your own eyes, the red waves of death... Thebes is dying . Death being a main
problem in the play made for more darker feelings. The lighting during those tragic
moments were darker making the set seem sad or tragic like. During the movie
after the shot taken from when we saw Jocasta before her death the room got
darker and more gloomy making us have a view of death or a bad feeling. In the
film A Midsummer Night s Dream the scenery was in the forest and the lighting
was bright making the set seem more cheerful. As the film was already bright
throughout the play there would be certain scenes where the lighting would just
get brighter during imaginations or dreams making us believe that the dreams
were delightful. Towards the end of the film we saw glitter and a bright setting
which was meant to make us feel cheerful and that peace is restored by the Fairies. In
(Act 5 scene 1) the story will be happy towards the end and as the fairies bless the
house, peace is restored, By us shall blessed be; So shall all couples three, Ever true
in loving be . Ending the scene with glitter and bright light makes for a happy
Caitlyn Jenner s Courage
Caitlyn Jenner had the courage of a lion when she came out as a woman and
accepted the ESPY Award, but her bravery fails at the thought of spending time in
jail. Radar Online, September 8, 2015, reported that Caitlyn s trial is coming and in
a worst case scenario, she might be sentenced to serve some time in jail. Caitlyn
talked with Matt Lauer from the Today s Show as they played a round of golf. But
that isn t the most troubling part. She may be charged with misdemeanor
manslaughter. If the conviction sticks, Caitlyn could serve a year in men s county

An Examination of Festinger s Cognitive Dissonance Theory and Notable
Modifications
Sometimes the greatest test of a theory is its longevity. Over time, some theories
will be disproved, some will be modified, and some will become the basis for a whole
new group of theories. Leon Festinger s theory of cognitive dissonance has stood up
to challenge for over forty years, and is considered by many to be the single most
important theory of social psychology. Though there have been modifications to the
theory after many recreations and simulations of the original 1957 experiment, few
have been able to really disqualify Festinger s findings. It would be safe to say that
many people don t even have a full grasp of the incredible ... Show more content on

In conclusion, Festinger found that the subjects who were paid one dollar actually
came to believe that the experiment was enjoyable, as opposed to those who were
paid twenty dollars. Incredible? Simple. The subjects who were paid twenty
dollars have all the justification in the world for their actions, but the subjects who
were only paid one dollar have reacted to the dissonance created by telling the lie
for such a small price, and have actually led themselves to believe that the task was
enjoyable to improve their self esteem in regards to the lie.
Festinger concluded that over time dissonance would change attitudes. For example,
cigarette smokers know that it is unhealthy to smoke, but they created an attitude to
justify why they continue to smoke. If I quit smoking now, I will gain weight. I only
smoke when I am drinking. I only smoke after a meal. But the dissonance theory is
applicable to much bigger social opinions than smoking, for example: Aronson and
Mills (1959) conducted an experiment in which some subjects were put through a
harsh period of hazing during initiation into a group while other subjects had to
endure only mild hazing. The end result was that the people who went through the
sever initiation ended up liking that group a lot better than those who went through
mild hazing. Going against the reinforcement theory (Aronson,
The Scarcity Of Fossil Fuels
The purpose of this paper is to provide an environmental scan and explore issues
pertaining to the scarcity of fossil fuels. It will briefly explore the transition from
historical energy sources to the primary use fossil fuels. Why is this a dangerous
global issue? What are the effects of said issue as it pertains to the social, economic,
and political landscapes? It will also assert how Abraham Maslow s Hierarchy of
Needs (1943) is impacted by fossil fueldepletion. Finally, some recommendations
will be offered regarding fossil fuels and future exploration, implementation, and
utilization of more renewable energy resources.

As technologies advanced and more inventions became widely available, societies
began to move away from use of those sources and towards fossil fuels for a variety
of reasons. In England, for example. even prior to the Industrial Revolution, demand
was so great and coal so much more efficient than traditional energy sources, it
quickly replaced the use of biomass (wood) as the primary energy source (Allen,
2012). In addition, building upon what was already known about combustion energy
and coupling that with new discoveries such as the steam engine, fossil fuels were a
ticket towards progress all over the world (Mumford, 1935, p. 156). As these
processes were streamlined, the 18th century saw a huge growth in transportation
initiatives, urbanization and population, and the physiological needs of food, water,
and shelter, all on the bottom of Maslow s pyramid (1943), were met with greater
ease. An example of this growth can be found in the United States westward
expansion. The United States, still a relatively young independent country in the 19th
century, would not have experienced such swift westward development without the
steam engine. Although groups of people attempted to take advantage of available
land out West, it was not until the first coal powered transcontinental railroads were
established that the largest
Assistive Communication Studies
Communication is a complicated development. For a successful interaction to take
place a message must be sent from one person and received by the other. When
students struggle with communication skills it creates barriers for learning and
existing (Bowden Carpenter, Johnston, and Beard, 2014). It is critical for students
with disabilities to communicate anywhere he/she may go. Assistive technology can
support the student by closing the gap between what the student is able to do now
and what he/she could do with an Assistive Technology. Assistive technology has
been successful to help develop students communicationskills so he/she may interact
with their environment (Bowden Carpenter et al., 2014). The research suggests that

The use of an assistive technology can assist the student in accessing his/her
environment. Research has shown that using an assistive technology does not hinder
the progress of vocalization (Blackstone et al., 1992). Many general education
teachers would benefit from having an assistive technology toolkit to help foster
communication in the general education classroom (Judge et al., 2008). Beth and
Halle s story proves that the proper assessment should be done to allow students to
communicate to their full potential (Dalton et al., 2013). The most crucial partner a
school should have in the finding the proper device is the family. Families are very
important to the success of the student s
The Southern Gothic Genre Of Literature
The southern gothic genre of literature can be described as plots involving violence
or hidden trauma, eccentric and often psychologically troubled characters, and an
atmosphere of repression and decay (Oxford Dictionary). This dark, depressing theme
found in literature is one that highlights the harsh realities that characters face in their
own geographic area. It is vital for southern gothicstories to incorporate the theme of
some type of external decay. In the texts Salvage the Bones and Swamplandia! we
can observe the struggles and consequences of simply where the characters find their
lives to be located at. Challenges are introduced to the lives of the characters in
Swamplandia! when they realize the truth of what they are up... Show more content

This idea of nothingness where the Bigtree children felt as if they weren t being
productive with their lives (enough to leave Swamplandia) may be due to their
surroundings. With the death of their star alligator wrestler mother, the theme park
started to decline. The amount of visitors to the island quickly diminished and
Swamplandia eventually saw a point of nobody stopping to see the alligators. It
also becomes apparent that the father of the Bigtree family had spent more money
than he had and the park had actually entered into great debt. In addition to this, the
theme park doesn t boom like it used to, so the Bigtree family could not make a
profit. Soon, with the accumulation of debt and no new visitors in line for a ticket,
it was inevitable that the Bigtree family would become poor. Kiwi responds to his
father s incompetence to guide the family into financially stable lives by leaving
the island to work on the mainland. In his note to his father he states, I am
relocating to Loomis County to raise funds to preclude what will otherwise result
in a fiscal cataclysm for our family and certain penury and insolvency (Russell 73).
The limitations set on financial resources (due to the park decline) is a central part
of the decay in this text. The father actually tries to make up for the money loss by
lying to his children, working at a casino, and staying at a motel for what he claims
to be for business. The
Bill Clinton Legacy
The forty second president of the United States was Bill Clinton. Running for
president in 1992 and winning two terms of office, he was widely successful.
Clinton had an active presidency, passing many laws within his eight years as
president. Part of this success was due to his childhood and his distinctly marked path
to presidency. His actions gave him a particular legacy, to both him and the First
Lady. Throughout Bill Clintons presidency, he was influenced by his own life, and for
the opportunity to better the average American s life (Clinton).
Clinton did not grow up in a traditional family. Three months before William
Jefferson Blythe III was born, his father died in a car crash on his way to visit
Virginia Blythe, Bill Clinton s mother. In 1950, when Bill Blythe was four years
old, his mother married Roger Clinton, who became such a large influence in
Clinton s life that he took the family name in 1963. He was now William Jefferson
Clinton, more colloquially known as Bill Clinton. From a ... Show more content on

Clinton s first speech was 1,598 words long, and focused on change and renewal.
He placed change in a positive light, and mentioned that America has a great history
of overcoming challenges. Clinton called for Americans to embrace the positive
change he would bring to the office of president (www.let.rug.nl). His second
speech was slightly longer, clocking in at 2,146 words. The speech was given on the
same day as Martin Luther King s day, leading Clinton to reference the fight for civil
rights in the 1960s. He called for Americans to meet the new century embracing the
limitless potential of all our people, and, yes, to form a more perfect union. Clinton
emphasized that with the changing of times, the government must change to adapt
and give the American people the best chance of happiness. (www.let.rug.nl) His

Persuasive Essay On Living Wage

as food and shelter) needed to live an acceptable life. Now, try to imagine a single

efforts: working two jobs, asking for more hours at work and asking their parents
for help, they won t be able to afford to pay their rent. There is no money to buy

Ghost In The Christmas Carol
In the book The Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, there are three ghosts: The
ghost of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. The ghosts were sent to haunt Scrooge
so he wouldn t be so antagonistic, dismal, and just plain malicious. I think the most
effective ghost that changes scrooge for the better is the Ghostof Christmas present.
The Ghost of Christmas present first brings E. Scrooge to the house of his co worker
Bob Cratchit. The ghost shows Scrooge BobВґs crippled son. Scrooge makes a
remark about if Bob s son Tim is okay. The text states, I see a vacant seat,... and a

Analysis Of The Movie The Play Guy
The first shot in the sequence is when Guy has just finished a set against his
opposition and takes a sip of water. Guy looks up the official time. This scene has an
emphasis on time. Guy is concerned and held up by his tennis match, while Bruno
has to reach for the lighter in the grate. The two characters who seem to be very
methodical in their normal actions are now acting on instinct. The tennisannouncer
points out that this is a game that Guy has never played and is known for doing
slow play. The audience knows about how Bruno acts methodically by his calm
demeanor during the carnival murder scene and his nonchalant attitude when
dealing with Guy s acquaintances. This is a parallel between the two characters
that Hitchcock makes. Showing that just because Guy is a civilised man and
aspiring politician doesn t mean he isn t capable of murder just like Bruno. This
idea of Guy killing is plausible throughout the whole movie and adds to the suspense
of the film. The audience could want this from either morbid curiosity or maybe to
humanize Bruno more, honestly there are endless reasons. The tennis match itself,
is also a parallel between Guy and Bruno with sport being a big theme in their
relationship. Bruno makes a deal with Guy to exchange murder. This exchange when
offered kind of seems like a sort of sports proposition. With both of them gambling
their lives and the obvious idea of killing a human is ultimate game. They both go
back and forth in their interactions.
Choice And Agency In The Matrix Trilogy
As Dr. Mike Sosteric sagaciously suggests, the Matrix trilogy is a comprehensive
metaphor for modern capitalistic society (Sosteric, 2015). In the simplest
discernment, the Matrix trilogy reveals that the mass majority is either unaware of, or
indifferent to, the extent that they are controlled by the uppermost in society.
Furthermore, the concepts put forth in the Matrixtrilogy relate to a multitude of the
concepts introduced specifically in this unit, and the course in its entirety. These
concepts include, but are not limited to, agency, choice, power, propaganda,
resistance, mobilization, demobilization, ideology, and religion.
To begin with, regarding choice and agency, one part of the Matrix that resonates with
me is when the Merovingian

Health Sciences Career
The number of career opportunities available to a student after college is large and
varied among different degrees and certifications. Particularly in the situation of a
Health Sciences student, the many different paths to be taken are uniquely enriching
and fulfilling. Before deciding on an individual career goal, a student should
carefully consider the educational requirements, work benefits, job demands, and
salary differences between the careers. Each respective person should reflect on the
advantages and disadvantages that come with every job and make an educated
decision for their career path based upon their personal interests, strengths and needs.

Oftentimes, the entry level positions in a particular field of work only require a
basic degree or official certification to start off. However, to continue to advance and
succeed in a chosen job, further education is required and, in some cases,
reimbursable. Public Health careers only initially require a Bachelors of Science,
Health Science degree or Nutritional Sciences degree to begin working. Although,
most employees in this field of work, especially government employees, will
continue their education to be more skilled and therefore be able to request a higher
salary as they gain more experience working with clients and learn new methods of
preserving health. The educational needs for Personal Fitness professions are
slightly less demanding, because although many employers encourage at least a
Bachelors degree in a science focused topic (i.e. Health Sciences, Kinesiology or
Exercise Science), many personal trainers also get their official trainer s certification
from a credible organization. In comparison, the Rehabilitation and Chiropractic
medicine fields require more graduate schooling than any other career group. Both
physical and occupational therapy require a science focused undergraduate degree,
with fulfillment of courses that are needed for graduate school application, and
then completion of either a Doctor of Physical Therapy or Master s of
Occupational Therapy, before a therapist can be officially licensed. Comparatively,
to become an Athletic Trainer, the educational process only requires a Bachelors
degree in a science area of study and receipt of their official accreditation. A
chiropractor, similarly, must receive a professional or doctoral degree in addition to
their licensure. For all fields of work that require accreditation, the proper national
organization must be gone
I Did My Wheel Chair Day On September 11
I did my wheel chair day on March 11. It was the day of the anatomy practical. So I
have to admit when I arrived at school I was more concerned about finishing my
practical than doing my wheelchair assignment. I was in the wheelchair while
reviewing the bones box before the practical and actually was not in my wheelchair
for the exam. I didn t feel like I really started my experience until after the practical.
One thing I notice right away was how much shorter I felt. Though it was
something I was expecting, when I actually experienced it I was still surprising. I
found that I had to look up to talk to people. It was a weird feeling because I was so
use to being on the same level as people, and the perspective shift was disorienting.
The second surprise was the bathroom. I never thought this would be an issue since
I considered myself to have strong arms, and felt that I would have been able to do
the task with ease. Although APU has handicap accessible stalks they aren t all that
different from normal ones. Yes they are bigger that a normal stall, but I still had no
clue how to go about transferring myself from the wheelchair to the toilet. It was not
something that I was ever taught. After, the experience I had to look up a video
how to do it, and I can say what I did surely was not as easy as the video made it
seem. I realized that people that are wheelchair bound have many small adaptations
they would need to learn in order to do daily activities. As a therapist I feel
What Is Harvey Kusak Assassination

Lee Harvey Oswald conducted the assassination alone. Shortly after the

window on the sixth floor of the building around the time the assassination occurred.

BACKGROUND:
The Church receives contact information including telephone numbers, email
addresses, physical addresses, etc. that is provided by constituents through our online
website, direct mail, volunteer applications, offering envelopes and other means.
The marketing department wants to contact these individuals by telephone (live or
automated calls), email and text.
They are seeking direction to determine what they need to do to secure permission
to do this.
QUESTION:
What does marketing need to do in order to secure that they have permission to
contact such individuals in the manner as described above?
APPLICABLE LAW:
Telephone and Cellular Phone Calls:
Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991 and FCC Policy Guidance from 2015
The rules for obtaining cell phone consent have not changed for nonprofit
organizations.
Expressed consent is still acceptable, meaning, the consumer could list his phone
number on a document or a website as contact information and this would be
considered consent . Consumers must have the right to revoke consent in any
reasonable way at any time.
The rule change that became effective on October 16, 2013, was directed towards
commercial sales calls and express written consent is now required.
The consumer must provide a signature, authorizing an organization to place calls to
the cell phone and the language below would comply with this.
If a phone number has been reassigned the FCC now requires a company to stop

A Streetcar Named Desire By Tennessee Williams
A Streetcar Named Desire was written by Tennessee Williams in the late 1940s.
The play takes place in New Orleans, Louisiana. A Streetcar Named Desire is a
tragedy about a Mississippi school teacher, Blanche DuBois, who travels to New
Orleans to visit her sister and brother in law, Stella and Stanley Kowalski. Throughout
this play, Williams displays the destruction of Blanche DuBoislife by alcoholism, her
lust for young boys, and Stanley Kowalski. In this play there are distinct differences
between Blanche DuBois and Stanley Kowalski s lifestyles, backgrounds, and
personalities. In A Streetcar Named Desire, Williams portrays two completely
opposite ways of life within the characters of Blanche DuBois and Stanley Kowalski.
The backgrounds of these two characters play a crucial part in the understanding of
the meaning behind this play. Once it is understood where Blanche Dubois and
Stanley Kowalski come from, it is much easier to understand the reasoning behind
certain events that happen in A Streetcar Named Desire.
In A Streetcar Named Desire, Blanche DuBois proves to the readers that she is
mentally unstable. Her imaginary world that she seems to be living in plays a huge
role in the play. Throughout the play, she demonstrates that she is living in a world
of illusion and even states, I don t want realism. I want magic! (127) At the
beginning of the play, when Stanley Kowalski is going through Blanche s trunk of
things and finds expensive looking jewelry and fur, she

In Early 2000s, various software systems development methodologies were
introduced and were started getting popular. One of them was agile method. Agile is
a group of the latest and popular software systems development life cycle
methodologies work in iterative way. All the requirements/needs and solutions are
solved through collaboration between a development team and a business
stakeholder. Agile method usually enhances an organized project management
method which promotes regular assessment and revision. And the scrum is a sub
group of agile. It is an iterative and incremental agile software development

4. Sprint It is a 30 day focused effort moving the team toward fixed goals. Scrum is a
normal set of rules, duties and meeting that is constant all the time. Scrum achieves
the success by unlocking unpredictability, and it has slightly different components
than the waterfall project. To make the scrum successful, these three essential
components play vital role. They are as follows:
The product owner
The product owner is a person with clear vision and leadership quality. He should be
the winner of the product. He is the champion of the business and marketing
perquisites. To become an effective product owner, he should understand the product
backlog. He ought to co ordinate with the business and the scrum team, and should
make clear to everyone about the work items in the product backlog. In addition, he
should handle how to deliver, when to deliver and what to deliver. Also, product
owner ought to be independent of the team ( What Is Agile Project Management? )
The scrum master
The scrum master is a connecting link between the product owner and the team. He
does not manage the scrum team; however, he works to
Conflict Management Styles In Mean Girls
Like Stephen R. Covey once said, most people do not listen with the intent to
understand; they listen with the intent to reply (Stephen Covey). Most people do not
try to see things in the point pf view of others, they like to jump to conclusion.
Conflict is an interaction between interdependent people who perceive that they have
contradictory goals or scare resources. The more important the relationship is, the
more important the conflictis.
The movie mean girls is about a sixteen year old homeschooled girl named Cady
Heron who lived in Africa for the last 12 years of her life. After 12 years she
returns to the United States and is now going to High school. Attending public
school for the first time in her life. The homeschooled girl entered girl world that is
full of lies, drama, gossip, boys and rules. She started hanging out with the Plastics
and become friends with. The movie showed many example of conflict management
styles, it reflects on the American culture values and beliefs, and power style.
The movie Mean Girls is all about conflict whether it was with the outside groups
or each other. Conflict management is the way we engage in conflict and address
disagreements. The movie mean girls , every character showed many conflict
management styles. Two character who used many conflict management styles in
the movie were Cady and Regina. Cady used the Avoidance style. The avoidance is
deliberate decision to take no action when dealing with conflict. Avoidance conflict
style is Basically being avoiding the conflict all together. Examples of when Cady
used the avoidance style is when she eats her lunch in the bathroom because she
could not find people to sit with. Another time she shows the avoidance style is
when she did not tell her parents how the school was really going. She just ran to
her room. She ignored the conflict all together. The opposite of Cady is Regina, the
queen bee of the school. The conflict style Regina used was competition. Competition
is someone thinking that the conflict has to go their way or the highway, is a win
lose situation. She showed this conflict style is when she told Aaron the rumors that
Cady was stalking him and then got back with him. Even though she did
The Year Of Wonders By Geraldine Brooks
Oppression is defined as, the exercise of authority or power in a burdensome, cruel,
or unjust manner (dictionary.com), and is found all around the world. There is
essentially two parts to oppression: the oppressor, who is demonstrating his power
by displaying cruelty towards the second part of oppression, the oppressed. The
oppressed take part in offenses made by the oppressor, that usually contain a cruel,
and unfair burden towards them. The world has demonstrated this profound
relationship since human history first began, not only in their way of life, but in
literature. For example, Geraldine Brooks, displays the oppressors, in her novel The
Year of Wonders, by implicating strong men, and a powerful family; while the
oppressed are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Panem is significantly lacking fellowship and liberation while under the
oppressive rule of the Capitol. People are suffering and working endlessly each
and every day inside the districts, while everybody in the Capitol is living a superb
and wealthy life. In order for this to change, Panem needs to reflect on these views,
and change their way of life. In the novel, Peeta says, Only I keep wishing I could
think of a way to... to show the Capitol they don t own me. That I m more than just
a piece in their games (Collins 142). He has already reflected the lack of liberation
in Panem, and is now trying to envision a way to fix it. This needs to be the
mentality of everybody in Panem. Cutting out oppression, and increasing
fellowship, liberation, and solidarity, will disembody the life they are living now, and
produce an improved way of life for everybody in Panem. In his novel, Pedagogy of
the Oppressed, Paulo Freire also says, It is only when the oppressed find the
oppressor out and become involved in the organized struggle for liberation that they
begin to believe in themselves. This discovery cannot be purely intellectual but must
involve action (Freire). The Secret Life of Bees, by Sue Monk Kidd, is linked to this
quote. This novel is based out of South Carolina in 1964, at the time when the civil
rights movement was strong, and the Jim Crow laws were still intact. Black people

Parable In The Prodigal Son
Introduction
The Prodigal Son is one of many parables spoken by Jesus in the gospel of Luke.
Although it might not seem of a significant to many, it has an important message that
we can all learn, and apply to our lives.
History
In the parable talks about a son who went to his father requesting his share of the
property. However, after receiving his share of his father s property went off to a
faraway country, lavishing and spending his worth on meaningless and reckless
living. Nevertheless, after mismanaging his wealth, he found himself in a place
where he could barely eat. Moreover, after realizing his faults, he decided to go
home and work for his father as one of his servants. And the son said to him,
Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be
called your son (Luke 15:21). Conversely, upon his return, his father rejoices,
bringing out the best robe for his son, killing one his best calf, besides calling a
party celebrating the safe return of his son. However, the oldest son did not feel the
same way about his brother. He believe his brother was not to be given such treatment
since; he had languish his father money on wasteful things.
One clear message understood from the parable
The one basic message of the parable that we all can adhere to would be that of a
father s love. Looking at the parable and all the events surrounding the departure and
return of the younger son, we can truly say that the love of his father was genuine. A
love that cannot be broken, instead abides forever. Known as one of the best parables
of Jesus, likewise, a key to true love, the prodigal son has many real life lessons that
could be learn. Besides, the parable reveal Jesus as being the father who love for us
is unconditional, lasting forever. As the father and creator of us all, he died on the
cross for the remission of our sins, given us the opportunity to have eternal life.
Nonetheless, similarly to that of the prodigal son, it is up to us to return to our
father begging for mercy and forgiveness, realizing we have sin and falling short of
his glory. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).
Consequently, to be consider a part of Jesus kingdom, we

TELECOMMUTING I. INTRODUCTION
My name is Diana Snyder, I am a Graduate Student at the Keller University School of

All of us some time or another have had the desire to stay at home and work. I
would like to know who would be interested in staying home and working in order
to save. I know I would love that because at home has advantages like spending time
with my family and being my own boss. Furthermore, this is advantageous for the

LESS STRESS
Employees are also less stressed out when they do not have to take those long
commutes, which gives them greater balance with work and life and eases the strain
on their pocket books.
Opportunity for sharing quality time with family, promoting family values and
developing stronger family ties.
FLEXIBILITY
Employees can work part time or full time which allows for more comfort and
convenience. Which often enables an employee to keep his/her day job and add on a
second job. X. Advantages for Employer
Energy Conservation.
The company will save on heating, cooling and lighting. The lesser employees that
are in the building the lesser the energy consumption will be. By telecommuting to
work instead of using the traditional methods, companies have a great potential to
save energy.
Three major areas where energy can be conserved are:
Vehicle related material and resources
Highway related material and resources and
Office related material and resources
Happier employees promotes greater productivity
Telecommuting enhances productivity. Instead of wasting time and energy going to
and from work; an employee can have more time to do their work from home and
avoid being interrupted constantly with traditional office setting.
Flexibility
Employers can give their employees the option of working from home between 3 to
5 days a week causing them to be able to save. For example, Deloitt LLP offers most
of its 45,000 employees the option of telecommuting as many as 5

Melanie Klein, The Mother Of Object Relations
She is a drive theorist who influenced child psychology and is known as the mother
of Object Relations. Melanie Klein believed that drives are object seeking, relational
in their essence and not just meant for resolutions of tensions as Freud suggested.
Klein postulated that internal object formation is integral to the psychic life of the
infant and is based on powerful struggle between the internal forces of life and death
instincts , child s phantasy , innate envy and gratification and lack of with the prime
object (mother).
Klein believed that the mother is most important and infants have an innate mother
an unconscious inner knowing by the child of the primal maternal image of the
mother, .

The client for the therapist sometimes plays out this position also. Is he there to be
good or bad?
Depressive position follows the paranoid schizoid position as the anxiety of being
destroyed by the object gets replaced by fear of destroying the object. The infant then
begins a cycle where some negativity is internalized in order to gain control of it, and
some good is projected onto the mother so that she could protect the infant. These
cycles of projection and introjection continue until the infant realizes that the good
mother and the bad mother are one and the mother whom he phantasized of
destroying is the same mother he loves.
This causes immense guilt for earlier persecutory feelings towards the object and the
infant realizes that the mother cannot be blamed all the time and this explains the far
away look children have sometimes in their eyes.
The infant suffers from depressive anxiety and this position is defined by a loss of
innocence . This is a healthy development and depressive word is misleading here
because actually it s a step forward and if this position is not resolved it can lead to
Case Study Of Trump s One China Policy

More interestingly, after reaching out to his Chinese counterpart via a letter in which

the traditional US approach of pursuing a One China policy.

Though he took on China by suggesting that it shredded the trust of nations in the
region with the island building and by using political pressure on states in the

the region. Abe s visit to the US last week saw Tokyo offering direct financial,
engineering and technical input for Trump s proposed infrastructure development
programme as well as other proposals for cooperation in cutting edge technologies
such as commercial aircraft, robots and artificial intelligence. This plan, the Japan
US growth and employment initiative , is the centrepiece of Abe s outreach to
Trump. Tokyo is hoping to embed the larger US Japan relationship in the economic
leverage that it can bring to bear on it.
In South Korea, Mattis addressed the controversy over the joint decision to deploy a

ballistic missile development. He had already reaffirmed American commitment to
the deployment of a Thaad system to defend against North Korean ballistic missiles
despite recent pressure from China to cancel the deployment.

Summary Of The Book Walk The Worlds
Walk the Worlds Rim There are far better things ahead than the ones we leave
behind C.S. Lewis. Chakoh is a 14 year old boy living in a small village when three
Spaniards arrive claiming they can heal with the powers of their God, when one of
the Spaniards, Cabeza de Vaca, invites Chakoh to come with them, he is torn
whether to stay with his family, or go to Mexico. Everyone agrees Chakoh did go
with the Spaniards, while some think it would be an amazing adventure, while
others think it was not wise for Chakoh to leave. Chakoh should have gone with the
Spaniards for three crucial reasons, he was starving, it would be an adventure, he
would learn about God. The first reason Chakoh should have gone with the Spaniards
is, he was starving.
Verbal Irony Examples
Jane Austen, author of Pride and Prejudice, used her characters to incorporate
multiple instances of verbal, situational, and dramatic irony into her novel in order to
satirize English social life during the Regency Period. Austen s novel primarily
follows Elizabeth Bennet an upper class and reasonable heroine, and her family.
Throughout the book, Elizabeth and her family are used by Jane Austento create
opportunities for irony. Despite Pride and Prejudicecontaining as much irony as coal

her characters or conflicts from the novel.

elaborates Mrs. Bennet s false perception of herself when explaining that [Mrs.

Unsurprisingly, Mrs. Bennet s intelligence impacts her daughters as Catherine and
Lydia have minds more vacant than their sisters (Austen, 24). Austen refines Mrs.
Bennet s character through dramatic irony and as a result is able to explain why

Auschwitz had served as a concentration camp through its lifespan and eventually
became the biggest concentration camp at the time. Only Polish people were sent
there at first which were mostly people with high power including scientific, civic,
political figures, etc. After a while people other than the Polish were sent to the
camp. Jews and others who were fit for labor were sent to the camp. 400,000 people
were registered and placed in the camp and the sub camps of Auschwitz. Over time

The New York City Department Of Education
The New York City Department of Education (DOE) serves 1.1 million students
across schools ( About Us ). During the Bloomberg administration more than 140
schools were closed with no indication that the administration s closure policy
improved outcomes for students in the city s struggling schools ( Standardized
Testing Is Counterproductive, Corrosive and Corrupting ). Several studies have
detailed the damage and disruption the city s closure policy had on struggling schools
in high need populations with significant academic challenges (Fruchter). Bloomberg
s educationpolicies were guided by The No Child Left Behind law, which required
standardized testbased school reform including annual testing, greater flexibility for
states and increased teacher qualifications in order to receive federal funding
(Ujifusa). This standardized testbased school reform trend continued under the Obama
administration s with the Race to the Top program. Race to the Top rewarded states
that used exams and data systems to track the performance of students and teachers,
among other initiatives (Cite).
These accountability policies paved the way in 2007, when the Bloomberg
administration introduced its School Progress Reports and Achievement Reporting
and Innovation System (ARIS). The school s report card graded schools on a scale
of A through F based on three factors: school environment survey (15%), student
academic performance (25%) and student academic progress (60%) ( School Quality
Essay on Private versus Public Education
Education is a major factor in a young person s life. It can determine how
successful you are, the way your peers think of you, and the way you will live the
rest of your life. There are two types of education you can receive growing up, one
being more beneficial than the other. Private education is more beneficial, but Public
education seems to be the more practical one. A lot of times, only the most eminent
option is considered, that being public education. People do not take the time to
actually consider which would be better for their children in the present and the
future. In the 2007 2008 school years, twenty five percent of all United States
schools were private schools. Private education is superior to public education in that

Students are able to bond and feel comfortable with each other. That creates a better
learning environment. In fact, thirty eight percent of private schools are said to do a
better job teaching their students to get along with people from diverse
backgrounds. Also, when you have a small class, teachers are able to control it better.
Not only are the teachers better equipped to handle an unruly student, the students
tend to be more well behaved. They do not as often cause uproar and disrespect
people. Seventy four percent of private school teachers can maintain discipline and
order in their classrooms. Whereas public school, on the other hand, teachers often
have troubles with their students speaking out, fighting, and, causing disruptions
during class hours. It is to the point that some teachers are unable to teach an entire
class through without having issues. Private schools benefit a child more based on
the better environment that surrounds them.
The one major factor setting apart private school education from, public education is
its academics. Georgia, in fact, is one state among seventeen others that have the
lowest graduation rates in the United States. One third of Georgia public schools,
which are one hundred and thirty schools, have low graduation rate. The sad fact is
that these are not just in urban areas. These schools are in cities, suburbs, and rural
areas. More specifically, thirty seven of these schools are in rural areas,
Water And Water Pollution In The Movie Erin Brockovich
The movie Erin Brockovich is based on actual events that took place in Hinkley
California, which is a small town that was effected (and continues to be effected) by
the highly toxic pollutant, hexavalent chromium also known as chromium 6 . This
toxic pollutant leaked into the drinking water used by the residents in the small
town. This leakage occurred as the result of routine operations from a plant owned by
the company Pacific Gas Electric (PG E). Hexavalent chromiumwas an additive used
by the company PG E for rust prevention in their water cooling systems. The
company would dump waste water containing hexavalent chromium into nearby
ponds that were not lined, which then infiltrated the local water supply. The dumping
occurred many years before the law suit however the company failed to tell the local
water board of the contamination until years later and then covered their previous
and continued knowledge of the pollution. This company was a multi billion dollar
company who then lied to the residents of Hinkleyto protect their profits. PG E
denied that the pollution was causing any of the severe illnesses being experienced
by the residents and even worse, stated false information that led the residents to
believe that the company was compassionate about the issues they were experiencing
and they paid to help with medical costs related to the illnesses. In addition, PG E
was offering large amounts of money to buy the homes of the residents in an attempt

The Goals Of Making Life Worth Living
In the society, there are some laurel people, there are some people having lifetime
of hardships, but did not get anything substantial. There are also people living
without wondering about the purpose of life, like the ship into the sea does not
determine what direction it goes. Then there are people intent with very great
thoughts but end up with very small business. Success or failure depends on so
many reasons, which mainly features is purpose . Therefore Socrates has stated: the
unexamined life is not worth living . In order to make one s life worth living, this
statement strongly addresses the idea that one must set up his goal to find the
meaning and purpose of life.

Withdrawal Of The Syrian Refugee Crisis
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This policy memo addresses the current possible U.S. options to the Syrian refugee
crisis. I have identified three different options: Increase Syrian refugee resettlement
commitments, establish safe zones in northern Syria, or seal the Syrian border. As
conditions continue to deteriorate in Syria and the number of refugees continues to
increase, it is critical that you strengthen the U.S. position in the country of Syria.
The establishment of safe zones would align our moral, strategic, and diplomatic
interests more than any other possible policy. Half of the electorate or more wants
refugees to establish safe homelands near or in their country, if possible, reducing the
perceived risk of increasing potential terrorism in the United States, the notion
grounded in reality or not. Also, historically, refugees have been allowed safe harbor
in United States and we could continue in such tradition, in the safest possible way.
BACKGROUND
The conflict in Syria between the government of Bashar al Assad and various other
forces, which started in the spring of 2011, continues to cause displacement within
the country and across the region. By the end of 2014, approximately 7.6 million
people were internally displaced and 3.7 million Syrians had fled the country since
the start of the conflict. Over 21.5 million people, or half of the country s pre war
population, have been displaced. The refugee situation is urgent, and it has placed an
enormous burden on
What Is Goldman s Response To Externalism

of Putnam s response. (Putnam)
Goldman s Response An Externalism Response Similarly to Nozick, the response
that Alvin Goldman offers to skepticism is one that highly relies on his conception
of knowledge and the logical work involved with his conception. Goldman articulates
his conception of knowledge in a piece titled, What is Justified Belief . Goldman
holds that knowledge is justified true belief, but really wants to focus on the meaning
of the word justified and the nature of justification. Goldman s conception of
knowledge and justification make him seemingly an externalist about justification.

One of the downside of externalism is that it seems to force philosophers to admit
that we might not have a complete understanding of knowledge. This does not
necessarily seem problematic though because it strictly implies that the complete

be found at all. It seems reasonable that the different disciplines of science that go
past the realms of philosophy might very well be able to further our understanding
of knowledge. The other downside of the externalism response the fact that it might
do too much in the way that it opens the possibility that we might know things that
we are unaware that we know does not seem to me be a very daunting one even
though it does seem slightly counterintuitive. Personally, I am more comfortable
with idea of having more knowledge rather less. This seems to be what externalism
does is open the door to us having more knowledge than we actually know that we
have. Whereas some of the downsides of the other responses to skepticism that I
present, namely Nozick s, are ones that further limit the amount of knowledge that we
have. I much rather have more than less (Nozick). (Goldman) The externalism
response (Goldman s) is the strongest response because is one that both appeals to
our intuition and one that does not carry necessarily

observer of the broken and damaged psyche of the modern individual. Roper
mentioned that The poem is spoken by a young man who describes three visits to an
older lady who treats him as friend though at the end she declares that the friendship
has failed (Roper,2007, 42)
The same approach of the dramatic monologue has been applied in Portrait of a
Lady out of Eliot s own experience with a maid in Harvard university canteen,
T.S.Eliot as Conrad akin has explained that adelen Moffat was miss x that poem is
about.
The poem supports the theme of the meaningless relationships, and now the neglect
ion by the young man on the account of the older lady, who gropes in vain for
communication. Such effects can call upon the futility of the relationship that may
exist between the modern man and woman. The descriptions of the events suggest
that the poem also lacks a cohesive plat, yet still unified by the tone of tragedy of the
woman. There is no outcome of the Endeavour in this poem. There was no
conversation that leads ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Besides the other source is attributed to Henry James novella The beast in the Jungle
(1903) in that novella the protagonist finds out at the end that the lady was in love
with him after she already was dead. In his remarks raine explained the idea of the
failure to live and now Eliot used the death theme to support that as follow. In
Portrait of A Lady, Eliot ironically apportions to the lady the clichГ© of death as
the end of life s journey. She refers to herself as one about to reach her journey s end

Childhood Obesity and Fast Food Essay examples
In recent years there has been a growing epidemic of obesity, especially in America.
According to the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey posted on the
Center for Disease Control website there are 12.5 million children from ages 2
through 19 that are obese. Many people are starting to complain that the commercials
and ads for these restaurants are the result of such an incline in obesity. Although
there have been current ad campaigns aiming at children to live a healthy life style
there are still hundreds of advertisements that are putting restaurants in a sort of
ultimatum position. Either restaurants change their advertisements or they improve
their menus. In 1979 McDonalds debuted their world famous Happy Meals to the...

According to Ken Yeager, a county supervisor, 2 it is unfair to parents and children
to use toys to capture the taste of children when they are young to get them hooked
on eating high sugar, high fat foods early in life. Santa Clara is not alone though.
San Francisco is joining them with the ban of toys in the meals. With an out of the
ball park vote of 8 3 by the city s board of supervisors, Happy Meals in San
Francisco will also need to meet a certain standard in order for a toy to be added to
the meal. And not to mention, there would also need to be an additional serving of
fruits or vegetables. Aside from marketing toys to children restaurants have tried to
hop on the health and nutrition band wagon and improve their menus. Wendy s has
added mandarin oranges to their side items, both McDonald s and Burger King offer
some sort of apple slice side served with a dipping sauce, and all three restaurants
offer milk as a drink instead of soda. It seems to be that the more and more parents
and advocates approach a restaurant with the nutritional value of the food offered at
their establishment; the more a restaurant feels obligated to improve their menu Even
with the improvements in the menu the advertisements continue to be the same.
According to fastfoodmarketing.org in 2009 restaurants spent over $4.2 billion for
television ads.
Creative Writing Rhinos
I m Alpha, Alpha the hawk, I say to myself in a mirror. I fell a tad bit nervous about
my first mission but, in the setting of green grass, pristine water, and healthy trees,
I think I ll be alright. I plan to meet rhino in the courtyard, but his stomach said
otherwise. I found him where I usually do, stuffing himself with fruits and
vegetation of all sorts. You ready buddy I announced with great confidence,
perching on the seat. I make out an yes and exclaim let s go! I shoot out the door
like a screaming bullet and where on our way. The mission started well and got
worse at the fork in the river, rhino had to cross the river but the current of the water
was getting more powerful each day and today seemed like it s peak, it sucked...

I propose an idea to create an army consisting of hawks, rhinos, gorillas, and lions.
My dad says he ll think about it. The next day rhinos leave the fight leaving only

Boston Red Sox Research Paper
The Boston Red Sox was founded in 1901. The team was originally named the
Boston Americans but later changed to the Boston Red Sox after Boston s first
professional baseball team the Boston Red Stockings, now known as the Atlanta
Braves. The Red Sox first played Huntington Avenue Grounds but later moved to
Fenway Park in 1912. Fenway Park remains the home of the Sox to this day.
The Sox had immediate success with players like Cy Young, Jimmy Collins, Tris
Speaker, Smokey Joe Wood, and Babe Ruththroughout its early years. Boston won
the first World Series in 1903 followed by championships in 1912, 1915, 1916, and

The Importance Of Western Hegemony In An Antique Land
What exactly is western hegemony? This question can be easily answered with a
couple of minutes using google. To save your time though I will answer it for you.
Hegemony is defined as, the social, cultural, ideological, or economic influence
exerted by a dominant group (Merriam Webster). Western hegemony is the west
exerting hegemony on the east. This has been an ongoing theme for some time
now. The west is considered more advanced or better than other countries. This is in
the heads of the people of the east at all times as they compare themselves to the
west. In An Antique Land is a book written by an Indian writer, Amitav Ghosh, in the
year of 1992. The book has two main stories throughout it. This provides for a very
interesting read. It goes back and forth between Ghosh and his anthropological
adventure in Egyptand in ancient documents covering Ben Yuji and his slave Bomma
that were alive in the 12th century. Ghosh switches the views usually through
different chapters and it is easy to follow from where he left off from each side.
Ghosh lives with Islamic Egyptiansand studies them and how they live while
learning more about their view of the west and its hegemony. This book is full of
evidence of western hegemony on the account of Amitav Ghosh and his
acquaintances while he is in Egypt. He expresses many different scenes in the book
that display Egyptian view s of the western cultureand military power. With their
view comes all sorts of misconceptions and
Graduation Speech
Nine years ago, I never could have imagined I d be writing this essay. I was a
senior in high school, and, like the rest of my classmates, I was apprehensive about
the future. Unlike my classmates, I felt like I had missed the proverbial you need
to get your life together message. I watched my classmates apply to colleges, their
majors already decided and their future careers mapped out. While I was an above
average student, I felt I lacked the decisiveness my classmates seemed to have. I
did not feel passionate about a career or even a field of study. I felt defective. This
was compounded by the financial strain I knew attending college would have on my
family. It seemed wasteful to try to find my passion at school while squandering...

Military training in a school environment was unlike anything I had encountered in
high school. I was thrown into a curriculum filled with different aspects of military
intelligence, from identifying ships in foreign navies to learning how to build and
present an intelligence brief. I enjoyed learning how historical events shape present
day policy and how new information fit into foreign policy and current events. I
graduated as one of the top students in my class.
In September 2009, I checked into my first command, eager to learn and ready to
work. Unfortunately, my command was a shore command, meaning the command
did not deploy people. Fortunately, my department arranged for my temporary
attachment to a command that did deploy, a maritime security squadron whose
mission was to protect US and Coalition warships as they transited in and out of port
in Jebel Ali, United Arab Emirates. I was deployed from April to November of 2010,
living in Dubai and working at Jebel Ali. During that seven months, This deployment
was the steepest learning curve I had experienced in my life to that point. I learned
about waterborne tactics, Iran s Naval power, and extremist groups operating in the
Arabian Gulf. This was especially relevant when an al Qaeda aligned group, Abdullah
Azzam Brigades, attacked an oil tanker transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Our unit was
responsible for making initial reports on the damaged tanker when it limped into port.
El Hoyo Analysis
1. The selection s thesis (or dominant impression) is the people of El Hoyo live like a
big family sharing the same amount of emotions through the happy and tough times
and helping and looking out for each other.
4. I think his essay succeeds in communicating his ideas because he gave in details
of El Hoyo, the people that live there and their lifestyle and its importance to him.
He wrote about its scenery which isn t too beautiful as he writes the houses
consists of unplastered adobe, wood, and abandoned car parts. The city has narrow
streets, some tall trees, weeds, garbage, and dogs. As well El Hoyo is not safe.
However, it does have good in it too or advantages as he put it such as if you are

I would characterize the author s tone as down to earth because he told the story
more from a factual basis with really no emotions, seriousness or opinions. For
example, he writes, its inhabitants are Chicanos who raise hell on Saturday night
and listen to Padre Estanislo on Sunday morning. The example is more factual than
anything else as he wrote the Chicano made noise on Saturday night and listened to
Padre Estansilo the following morning. Another example, it s houses are simple
affairs of unplastered adobe, wood, and abandoned car parts. Again he is just
stating a fact about what the houses consist of in El Hoyo. When the Mexican
Army was en route to Baja, California, and the Chicanos found out that the enlisted
men ate only at infrequent intervals, it was El Hoyo s Chicanos who crusaded
across town with pots of beans and trays of tortillas to meet the train, is just a stated
fact. One last example I can give is it laughs and cries with the same amount of
passion in times of plenty and of want, is again Mario Suarez just simply saying that
people of his hometown share the same amount of emotions through the good and
bad times. The examples I put are facts with no thoughts, or emotions about it from
Suarez.
I think the author adopts the tone that he uses because he wanted to tell the story
from a factual basis so we can understand the city, community and why it s important
to him. If he told what he thought about the city and off of that how it s important to
him, we could have made our own judgments. Our own judgments could have been
wrong or what he doesn t want us to think about the city. However, since he told all
facts about the city, we know the facts about the city and got to know the exact
factual reasons why the city is important to him as the best way to show or prove
your point is through
Descriptive Essay On Exotic Animals
A few years ago, my Mom and I went to a fall exotic animal auction, which took
place over by Pierz. It was mid October so the mornings had a bite to them and the
days were cool. We woke up at 6:00 in the morning so we could get our rabbits,
which we were bringing to the auction to sell, settled in their cages. We had filled
each cage with haythe night before so they would be warm for the ride there and
for the time they d be stuck sitting in their cages. After we loaded them up, we
headed to the auction. Once we arrived at the auction, we brought the bunnies over
to the people who tagged their cages and brought them out to the barn to be
stacked up next to other cages. The other cages were filled with exotic birds and
some other rabbits. In some of the pens inside the auction barn, they had pigs,
goats, sheep, and emus. The outside pens had a variety of cow breeds like the
shaggy Highlanders and Brahmas. There were also horses, ponies, alpacas,
buffalo, and llamas. We always arrive early, so people are still coming in with
animals they would be auctioning off that day. My Mom and I went into the auction
barn to see if they had anything interesting out there that we might like to acquire.
My Mom has several exotic birds at home and loves going to the auction to look at
all the exotic birds. As we walked through the barn, my Mom saw some golden
pheasants and some peacocks, so she wrote their tag numbers down on her mini
notebook that she brought along with her in hopes
Karen Seapker Cradle
And Most Slow Have I Been is a current exhibition at Lipscomb University by
Karen Seapker. The gallery features a concise body of work; approximately ten to
fifteen pieces in size. Many of her paintings depict bold, vibrant colors contrasted
against dark muted ones. A recurring technique that Seapker utilizes is creating lines
that appear to be executed in one brush stroke. These compositions are often subtly
defined by these dynamic brush strokes. Seapker then creates void like spaces by
filling the remaining negative space with contrasting colors; in comparison to the
brush stroke in the foreground. Another technique used alongside the strong brush
strokes is a simulated gradient effect by applying two or more colors to her canvas
and meticulously... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then as I made my way around the gallery I noticed a myriad of her works contained
radically simplified or abstracted figures. Segments of a hand or a pair of legs are
incorporated into the composition delicately like puzzle pieces. Seapker s painting
named Cradle demonstrates these figurative elements. A massive hand like form
dominates the center of the composition. The calligraphic brushstrokes in this form
create a powerful sense of movement. Therefore, I found this painting quite
intriguing. In the bottom left portion of Cradle there appears to be two beige
colored legs. To the right of them, a contrasting turquoise, gray pair of legs support
the beige pair in a similar manner that a chair would hold one s body. Most notably,
the turquoise legs disintegrate into a pastel pink field; on the far right. Bits of gray
paint are splattered in an upward motion on top of the pastel pink area; they are
barely noticeable but enhance the impression of movement nonetheless. The
ambiguity of the figures allows the viewer to gather a more subjective perspective on
the content. Seapker s visual language suggests something unsettling within the
paintings, but I could not draw any
Lady Lazarus
The Phoenix Reborn In Sylvia Plath s poem Lady Lazarus , Plath uses the horrific
events of the Holocaust to symbolize the numerous deaths and rebirths of Lady
Lazarus. Each death in the story is at the fault of a man and at the end of the story,
Lady Lazarus rises from the ashes with a new vigor and devours all men to take back
the reins of her life. Resurrection is an important theme throughout the poem and
Plath uses both the name of Lady Lazarus, and more importantly, the nature of the
mythical phoenix to emphasize this. The symbolization of the phoenix being reborn
unravels the idea that Lady Lazarus invited these deaths with the knowledge that after
each death comes a self empowering metamorphosis. Despite Lady Lazarus gruesome

Peru In South America
PERU 2 INTRODUCTION Peru is a country located in South America, its primary
language is Castelian (better known as Spanish), and Quechua (spoken by the
indigenes). It was declared independent in 28th July 1821 by Simon Bolivar. Peruhas
became one of the powers in South America due to its economic system that permits
it to have multiples partners, such as United States, China, Japan, just to mention
some of them. Peru also has multiples touristic locations that are very attractive to
people from other countries, one of the most popular places is Macchu Piccu
(located in Cuzco); I cannot talked about Peru without mention its culinary arts,
around the world the peruvian cuisine is gaining popularity due to its exquisite
dishes. Peru is also known for being the maximum producer of coca s leaf in the
world. Geography and location, Peru is divided in three different regions, they are

A Bachelor s Degree as a Requirement of Medical Practice...
A Bachelor s Degree as a Requirement of Medical Practice The purpose of this paper
is to illustrate the high demand for baccalaureate degrees in nursing and to explain
why that level of education is in demand in today s health care system. Nursing is
one of the few professions in which there are multiple points of entry in order to
practice medicine. Furthermore, one of the biggest discrepancies is the fact that no
matter the level of education a nurse may have, they are treated the same as other
nurses with higher or lower degrees of education. This paper will highlight the
discrepancies regarding education in the nursing profession and will attempt to
evaluate why the baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) should be the most basic

How can a nurse provide good care if they do not know what is wrong with the
patient? Furthermore, how can hospitals rely on a staff that has no basis and
education on conducting a health assessment on incoming patients? Another issue
with the ADN and diploma programs is that there is a lack of continuing education.
As Altmann states, In the U.S., only about 20% of ADN s and 30% of diploma
educated nurses continue their formal education to the baccalaureate level or beyond.
(Altmann, 2011, p.257) This is a large problem if the field is to ever advance its
influence in the medical profession. Nurses need to constantly continuing their
education. Even if the education is not formal, nurses need to constantly be keeping
up with new trends, procedures and treatments. With the constant changes that the
nursing profession and health care endures, the BSN program can at least ensure
through it s more intensive curriculum that the nurses will be better prepared and
more successful at adapting and researching these trends and changes. The last issue
is that of demand of BSN educated nurses. Since 2012, more than 600 RN to BSN
programs currently exist in the United States, and the numbers of programs and
students are expanding rapidly. (McEwen, Pullis, White Krawtz, 2013, p.549) One
reason why this may be a current trend is due to the demand of hospitals
War On Terror
This is an excerpt from a 20 page paper on Africa Command and the War on Terror.
(Pages 1,2,7,15,16)
Introduction
Thesis: Since the 9/11 terrorists attacks, terrorism has extended far beyond the United
States and into other nations such as Africa. Even though these acts of aggressions
take place outside of the United States, the government should have the capability to
counteract groups who engage in the terrorism without fear of reprisal. Therefore, the
establishment of a new Combatant Command for Africa (AFRICOM) should mark an
important milestone in the prevention of the terrorist attacks against the United
States. Africa Command in partnership with African countries will help protect and

policymakers have devoted a significant amount of resources in recent years to study
the strategic importance of Africa. They have noted Africa s growing strategic
importance to U.S. interests. Among those interests is the aggregate significance of
Africa s natural resources, principally energy capitals, and growing concerns over
violent radical activities and other potential threats posed by under governed spaces,
such as maritime piracy and illicit trafficking. In addition, there is an ongoing concern
for Africa s many humanitarian crises, armed conflicts, and more everyday
challenges that undermine the stability of the African continent, such as the
devastating effect of HIV/AIDS. The establishment of U.S. Africa Command in
response to these challenges correctly illustrated the strategic importance of Africa.
Hence, by emphasizing the relationships between security, development, diplomacy
and prosperity in Africa, the Department of Defense (DoD) intends to better focus its
resources on supporting and enhancing existing U.S. initiatives to help African
nations and the regional economic communities succeed. However, to accomplish
this mission, the DoD must expand AFRICOM s functions including its objectives
and priorities beyond just military

Career Goals Essay. How to Write an Essay About My Career Goals With Example

  • 1. Career Goals Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of "Career Goals" can be both a challenging and introspective task. The difficulty arises from the need to articulate one's aspirations, plans, and ambitions coherently, while also demonstrating a clear understanding of the chosen career path. It demands a delicate balance between personal reflection and professional projection. To begin, the writer must delve into their own experiences, skills, and passions to create a narrative that not only outlines their current standing but also maps out the trajectory they envision for their career. The challenge lies in presenting a compelling story that is not only believable but also aligns with the expectations of the chosen field. Moreover, the essay requires thorough research into the chosen career path, industry trends, and potential challenges. This necessitates a deep understanding of the professional landscape, adding an extra layer of complexity to the writing process. The essay should showcase a realistic and well-informed approach, proving that the author has done their homework and is prepared for the realities of their chosen field. Furthermore, achieving a balance between ambition and practicality can be challenging. It's crucial to outline ambitious goals while grounding them in a feasible plan. Striking this balance requires careful consideration of personal strengths and weaknesses, as well as a realistic assessment of the resources and opportunities available. Lastly, the writer must master the art of persuasive communication. The essay should not only be informative but also persuasive, convincing the reader that the outlined career goals are not only desirable but also achievable. This requires effective use of language, structure, and a keen awareness of the target audience. In conclusion, crafting a "Career Goals Essay" involves a multi-faceted approach that combines self-reflection, industry research, strategic planning, and persuasive communication. • 2. Coming Of Age Story Analysis One of the most prominent themes in Coming of Age stories is the loss of innocence. Authors often dramatize this life moment to demonstrate how important adolescence is to someone s life. In Through the Tunnel, Jerry, the protagonist, proves this by attempting to swim through an underwater tunnel as a rite of passage. In The Intruder, Kenneth proves it by having to make a life or death decision, even though it s not his life on the line. Finally, the narrator of American History proves it by falling in love with a boy. In those three coming of agestories, the authors utilize light and dark imagery to show contrast between the light and happy world of childhood, and the comparatively darker and scarier world of adulthood, and the loss of childhood innocence. One story that utilizes light and dark symbolism is The Intruder. In the beginning, Kenneth is sitting outside, watching an imaginary battle scene take place. He describes the sky as a summer dusk (Dubus, 1). Dusk is when it s getting darker outside, getting closer to night. This illustrates that Kenneth is drawing closer to the darker and scarier world of adulthood. This idea is expanded upon further when, in the middle of the night, he hears a prowler coming toward the house. The author gives the reader the idea that it s night outside by saying ..he looked over at the far corner of the room where his rifle was, though he could not see it.. (Dubus, 13) That tells the reader it s now night because he has the window
  • 3. Not Only Natalee Is Missing By Anne-Marie O Connor When Natalee Holloway went missing her face was plastered on every television screen to promote her being found. Some people wonder why white females make national news more often than any other female or male for that matter. In the argumentative essay Not Only Natalee is Missing Anne Marie O Connor tries to explain how and why people make national news. O Connor s essay starts out based on the idea that white females are the only ones that make national news, but her use of pathos, ethos, and logos, prove this idea to be based upon economic status and race rather than genderalone. The author uses pathos to appeal to the audience s sense of open mindedness about women who make national news. O Connor tries to get the reader to realize how being human can cause people to overlook certain stories and make them seem unimportant. In her essay she states, We don t pay as much attention to someone missing from a community we don t know or are not familiar with (661). This quotation symbolizes how sometimes people can be overlooked in today s news. The issue about who makes national news can appeal to more than just a sense of open mindedness, it can also appeal to your sense of sympathy. When news reporters get their stories, no one is for sure how long the story can stay lingering amongst people. Earl Hutchinson, a political analyst, states, When you raise the issue people say, This is a tragedy and we should do more, Hutchinson said. But it only lasts a hot minute.
  • 4. Comparing Oedipus Rex And A Midsummer Night s A Play s Death Vs Life A Tragedy is where the story ends unhappily, usually in the death of a main character, and In a Comedy the story ends happily, often with a marriage symbolizing the continuation in life and the resolution of the conflict. Oedipus Rex a tragedy and A Midsummer Night s Dream a comedy are both plays written long ago containing similarities and differences in Props, Scenery, Makeup and The Narrative of the Plot which relate to a tragedy or comedy. The props used in Oedipus Rex and A Midsummer Night Dream both contain a similarity which is the dresses used by all lady characters in both plays. Dresses were very popular back then for women. The dresses worn by Jocasta, Hermia and Helena also had some unique detail and an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A similarity in the scenery of both plays was that both written plays took place in Greece. A Midsummer Night s dream took place in Athens and Oedipus Rex took place in Thebes. For most of the film in both plays the play took place outside in a nature aspect. Most of the scenes were through a dessert and a forest. Something different in the scenery is that in Oedipus Rex the scene was more desert like and sad as the drought took place. As page (1130 line 28) says Look around you, see with your own eyes, the red waves of death... Thebes is dying . Death being a main problem in the play made for more darker feelings. The lighting during those tragic moments were darker making the set seem sad or tragic like. During the movie after the shot taken from when we saw Jocasta before her death the room got darker and more gloomy making us have a view of death or a bad feeling. In the film A Midsummer Night s Dream the scenery was in the forest and the lighting was bright making the set seem more cheerful. As the film was already bright throughout the play there would be certain scenes where the lighting would just get brighter during imaginations or dreams making us believe that the dreams were delightful. Towards the end of the film we saw glitter and a bright setting which was meant to make us feel cheerful and that peace is restored by the Fairies. In (Act 5 scene 1) the story will be happy towards the end and as the fairies bless the house, peace is restored, By us shall blessed be; So shall all couples three, Ever true in loving be . Ending the scene with glitter and bright light makes for a happy
  • 5. Caitlyn Jenner s Courage Caitlyn Jenner had the courage of a lion when she came out as a woman and accepted the ESPY Award, but her bravery fails at the thought of spending time in jail. Radar Online, September 8, 2015, reported that Caitlyn s trial is coming and in a worst case scenario, she might be sentenced to serve some time in jail. Caitlyn talked with Matt Lauer from the Today s Show as they played a round of golf. But that isn t the most troubling part. She may be charged with misdemeanor manslaughter. If the conviction sticks, Caitlyn could serve a year in men s county jail. For a transgender person to there, that would be very frightening. She said they are working on it Caitlyn Jenner said that she remembers very little about the traffic accident, which
  • 6. An Examination of Festinger s Cognitive Dissonance Theory... An Examination of Festinger s Cognitive Dissonance Theory and Notable Modifications Sometimes the greatest test of a theory is its longevity. Over time, some theories will be disproved, some will be modified, and some will become the basis for a whole new group of theories. Leon Festinger s theory of cognitive dissonance has stood up to challenge for over forty years, and is considered by many to be the single most important theory of social psychology. Though there have been modifications to the theory after many recreations and simulations of the original 1957 experiment, few have been able to really disqualify Festinger s findings. It would be safe to say that many people don t even have a full grasp of the incredible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In conclusion, Festinger found that the subjects who were paid one dollar actually came to believe that the experiment was enjoyable, as opposed to those who were paid twenty dollars. Incredible? Simple. The subjects who were paid twenty dollars have all the justification in the world for their actions, but the subjects who were only paid one dollar have reacted to the dissonance created by telling the lie for such a small price, and have actually led themselves to believe that the task was enjoyable to improve their self esteem in regards to the lie. Festinger concluded that over time dissonance would change attitudes. For example, cigarette smokers know that it is unhealthy to smoke, but they created an attitude to justify why they continue to smoke. If I quit smoking now, I will gain weight. I only smoke when I am drinking. I only smoke after a meal. But the dissonance theory is applicable to much bigger social opinions than smoking, for example: Aronson and Mills (1959) conducted an experiment in which some subjects were put through a harsh period of hazing during initiation into a group while other subjects had to endure only mild hazing. The end result was that the people who went through the sever initiation ended up liking that group a lot better than those who went through mild hazing. Going against the reinforcement theory (Aronson,
  • 7. The Scarcity Of Fossil Fuels The purpose of this paper is to provide an environmental scan and explore issues pertaining to the scarcity of fossil fuels. It will briefly explore the transition from historical energy sources to the primary use fossil fuels. Why is this a dangerous global issue? What are the effects of said issue as it pertains to the social, economic, and political landscapes? It will also assert how Abraham Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs (1943) is impacted by fossil fueldepletion. Finally, some recommendations will be offered regarding fossil fuels and future exploration, implementation, and utilization of more renewable energy resources. Discussion of Global Issue From the dawn of civilization, mankind has sought after some sort of power source to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As technologies advanced and more inventions became widely available, societies began to move away from use of those sources and towards fossil fuels for a variety of reasons. In England, for example. even prior to the Industrial Revolution, demand was so great and coal so much more efficient than traditional energy sources, it quickly replaced the use of biomass (wood) as the primary energy source (Allen, 2012). In addition, building upon what was already known about combustion energy and coupling that with new discoveries such as the steam engine, fossil fuels were a ticket towards progress all over the world (Mumford, 1935, p. 156). As these processes were streamlined, the 18th century saw a huge growth in transportation initiatives, urbanization and population, and the physiological needs of food, water, and shelter, all on the bottom of Maslow s pyramid (1943), were met with greater ease. An example of this growth can be found in the United States westward expansion. The United States, still a relatively young independent country in the 19th century, would not have experienced such swift westward development without the steam engine. Although groups of people attempted to take advantage of available land out West, it was not until the first coal powered transcontinental railroads were established that the largest
  • 8. Assistive Communication Studies Communication is a complicated development. For a successful interaction to take place a message must be sent from one person and received by the other. When students struggle with communication skills it creates barriers for learning and existing (Bowden Carpenter, Johnston, and Beard, 2014). It is critical for students with disabilities to communicate anywhere he/she may go. Assistive technology can support the student by closing the gap between what the student is able to do now and what he/she could do with an Assistive Technology. Assistive technology has been successful to help develop students communicationskills so he/she may interact with their environment (Bowden Carpenter et al., 2014). The research suggests that using a communication... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The use of an assistive technology can assist the student in accessing his/her environment. Research has shown that using an assistive technology does not hinder the progress of vocalization (Blackstone et al., 1992). Many general education teachers would benefit from having an assistive technology toolkit to help foster communication in the general education classroom (Judge et al., 2008). Beth and Halle s story proves that the proper assessment should be done to allow students to communicate to their full potential (Dalton et al., 2013). The most crucial partner a school should have in the finding the proper device is the family. Families are very important to the success of the student s
  • 9. The Southern Gothic Genre Of Literature The southern gothic genre of literature can be described as plots involving violence or hidden trauma, eccentric and often psychologically troubled characters, and an atmosphere of repression and decay (Oxford Dictionary). This dark, depressing theme found in literature is one that highlights the harsh realities that characters face in their own geographic area. It is vital for southern gothicstories to incorporate the theme of some type of external decay. In the texts Salvage the Bones and Swamplandia! we can observe the struggles and consequences of simply where the characters find their lives to be located at. Challenges are introduced to the lives of the characters in Swamplandia! when they realize the truth of what they are up... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This idea of nothingness where the Bigtree children felt as if they weren t being productive with their lives (enough to leave Swamplandia) may be due to their surroundings. With the death of their star alligator wrestler mother, the theme park started to decline. The amount of visitors to the island quickly diminished and Swamplandia eventually saw a point of nobody stopping to see the alligators. It also becomes apparent that the father of the Bigtree family had spent more money than he had and the park had actually entered into great debt. In addition to this, the theme park doesn t boom like it used to, so the Bigtree family could not make a profit. Soon, with the accumulation of debt and no new visitors in line for a ticket, it was inevitable that the Bigtree family would become poor. Kiwi responds to his father s incompetence to guide the family into financially stable lives by leaving the island to work on the mainland. In his note to his father he states, I am relocating to Loomis County to raise funds to preclude what will otherwise result in a fiscal cataclysm for our family and certain penury and insolvency (Russell 73). The limitations set on financial resources (due to the park decline) is a central part of the decay in this text. The father actually tries to make up for the money loss by lying to his children, working at a casino, and staying at a motel for what he claims to be for business. The
  • 10. Bill Clinton Legacy The forty second president of the United States was Bill Clinton. Running for president in 1992 and winning two terms of office, he was widely successful. Clinton had an active presidency, passing many laws within his eight years as president. Part of this success was due to his childhood and his distinctly marked path to presidency. His actions gave him a particular legacy, to both him and the First Lady. Throughout Bill Clintons presidency, he was influenced by his own life, and for the opportunity to better the average American s life (Clinton). Clinton did not grow up in a traditional family. • 16. Analysis Of The Movie The Play Guy The first shot in the sequence is when Guy has just finished a set against his opposition and takes a sip of water. Guy looks up the official time. This scene has an emphasis on time. Guy is concerned and held up by his tennis match, while Bruno has to reach for the lighter in the grate. The two characters who seem to be very methodical in their normal actions are now acting on instinct. The tennisannouncer points out that this is a game that Guy has never played and is known for doing slow play. The audience knows about how Bruno acts methodically by his calm demeanor during the carnival murder scene and his nonchalant attitude when dealing with Guy s acquaintances. This is a parallel between the two characters that Hitchcock makes. Showing that just because Guy is a civilised man and aspiring politician doesn t mean he isn t capable of murder just like Bruno. This idea of Guy killing is plausible throughout the whole movie and adds to the suspense of the film. The audience could want this from either morbid curiosity or maybe to humanize Bruno more, honestly there are endless reasons. The tennis match itself, is also a parallel between Guy and Bruno with sport being a big theme in their relationship. Bruno makes a deal with Guy to exchange murder. This exchange when offered kind of seems like a sort of sports proposition. With both of them gambling their lives and the obvious idea of killing a human is ultimate game. They both go back and forth in their interactions.

  • 29. Parable In The Prodigal Son Introduction The Prodigal Son is one of many parables spoken by Jesus in the gospel of Luke. Although it might not seem of a significant to many, it has an important message that we can all learn, and apply to our lives. History In the parable talks about a son who went to his father requesting his share of the property. However, after receiving his share of his father s property went off to a faraway country, lavishing and spending his worth on meaningless and reckless living. Nevertheless, after mismanaging his wealth, he found himself in a place where he could barely eat. Moreover, after realizing his faults, he decided to go home and work for his father as one of his servants. And the son said to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son (Luke 15:21). Conversely, upon his return, his father rejoices, bringing out the best robe for his son, killing one his best calf, besides calling a party celebrating the safe return of his son. However, the oldest son did not feel the same way about his brother. He believe his brother was not to be given such treatment since; he had languish his father money on wasteful things. One clear message understood from the parable The one basic message of the parable that we all can adhere to would be that of a father s love. Looking at the parable and all the events surrounding the departure and return of the younger son, we can truly say that the love of his father was genuine. A love that cannot be broken, instead abides forever. Known as one of the best parables of Jesus, likewise, a key to true love, the prodigal son has many real life lessons that could be learn. Besides, the parable reveal Jesus as being the father who love for us is unconditional, lasting forever. As the father and creator of us all, he died on the cross for the remission of our sins, given us the opportunity to have eternal life. Nonetheless, similarly to that of the prodigal son, it is up to us to return to our father begging for mercy and forgiveness, realizing we have sin and falling short of his glory. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Consequently, to be consider a part of Jesus kingdom, we

I have identified three different options: Increase Syrian refugee resettlement commitments, establish safe zones in northern Syria, or seal the Syrian border. As conditions continue to deteriorate in Syria and the number of refugees continues to increase, it is critical that you strengthen the U.S. position in the country of Syria. The establishment of safe zones would align our moral, strategic, and diplomatic interests more than any other possible policy. Half of the electorate or more wants refugees to establish safe homelands near or in their country, if possible, reducing the perceived risk of increasing potential terrorism in the United States, the notion grounded in reality or not. Also, historically, refugees have been allowed safe harbor in United States and we could continue in such tradition, in the safest possible way. This does not necessarily seem problematic though because it strictly implies that the complete understanding of knowledge cannot be found within philosophy not that it cannot be found at all. It seems reasonable that the different disciplines of science that go past the realms of philosophy might very well be able to further our understanding of knowledge. The other downside of the externalism response the fact that it might do too much in the way that it opens the possibility that we might know things that we are unaware that we know does not seem to me be a very daunting one even though it does seem slightly counterintuitive. To save your time though I will answer it for you. Hegemony is defined as, the social, cultural, ideological, or economic influence exerted by a dominant group (Merriam Webster). Western hegemony is the west exerting hegemony on the east. This has been an ongoing theme for some time now. The west is considered more advanced or better than other countries. This is in the heads of the people of the east at all times as they compare themselves to the west. In An Antique Land is a book written by an Indian writer, Amitav Ghosh, in the year of 1992. The book has two main stories throughout it. This provides for a very interesting read. It goes back and forth between Ghosh and his anthropological adventure in Egyptand in ancient documents covering Ben Yuji and his slave Bomma that were alive in the 12th century. The example is more factual than anything else as he wrote the Chicano made noise on Saturday night and listened to Padre Estansilo the following morning. Another example, it s houses are simple affairs of unplastered adobe, wood, and abandoned car parts. Again he is just stating a fact about what the houses consist of in El Hoyo. A Bachelor s Degree as a Requirement of Medical Practice The purpose of this paper is to illustrate the high demand for baccalaureate degrees in nursing and to explain why that level of education is in demand in today s health care system. Nursing is one of the few professions in which there are multiple points of entry in order to practice medicine. Furthermore, one of the biggest discrepancies is the fact that no matter the level of education a nurse may have, they are treated the same as other nurses with higher or lower degrees of education. This paper will highlight the discrepancies regarding education in the nursing profession and will attempt to evaluate why the baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) should be the most basic level... Furthermore, how can hospitals rely on a staff that has no basis and education on conducting a health assessment on incoming patients? Another issue with the ADN and diploma programs is that there is a lack of continuing education. As Altmann states, In the U.S., only about 20% of ADN s and 30% of diploma educated nurses continue their formal education to the baccalaureate level or beyond. (Altmann, 2011, p.257) This is a large problem if the field is to ever advance its influence in the medical profession. Nurses need to constantly continuing their education. Even if the education is not formal, nurses need to constantly be keeping up with new trends, procedures and treatments. With the constant changes that the nursing profession and health care endures, the BSN program can at least ensure through it s more intensive curriculum that the nurses will be better prepared and more successful at adapting and researching these trends and changes. The last issue is that of demand of BSN educated nurses. Since 2012, more than 600 RN to BSN programs currently exist in the United States, and the numbers of programs and students are expanding rapidly. (McEwen, Pullis, White Krawtz, 2013, p.549) One reason why this may be a current trend is due to the demand of hospitals

(Pages 1,2,7,15,16) Introduction Thesis: Since the 9/11 terrorists attacks, terrorism has extended far beyond the United States and into other nations such as Africa. Even though these acts of aggressions take place outside of the United States, the government should have the capability to counteract groups who engage in the terrorism without fear of reprisal. Therefore, the establishment of a new Combatant Command for Africa (AFRICOM) should mark an important milestone in the prevention of the terrorist attacks against the United States. Africa Command in partnership with African countries will help protect and defend the national security interests of the ... They have noted Africa s growing strategic importance to U.S. interests. Among those interests is the aggregate significance of Africa s natural resources, principally energy capitals, and growing concerns over violent radical activities and other potential threats posed by under governed spaces, such as maritime piracy and illicit trafficking. In addition, there is an ongoing concern for Africa s many humanitarian crises, armed conflicts, and more everyday challenges that undermine the stability of the African continent, such as the devastating effect of HIV/AIDS. The establishment of U.S. Africa Command in response to these challenges correctly illustrated the strategic importance of Africa. Hence, by emphasizing the relationships between security, development, diplomacy and prosperity in Africa, the Department of Defense (DoD) intends to better focus its resources on supporting and enhancing existing U.S. initiatives to help African nations and the regional economic communities succeed. However, to accomplish this mission, the DoD must expand AFRICOM s functions including its objectives and priorities beyond just military
