This document proposes a method to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by converting organic wastes into biochar. Biochar is a stable form of carbon that can be incorporated into soils. This process removes CO2 from the air while also producing a byproduct that improves soil quality and reduces the need for fertilizers. Additionally, the process is energy neutral, as heat generated can be used to power the conversion, with some excess energy produced. Large-scale implementation could significantly reduce atmospheric CO2 levels by tapping into the billions of tons of biomass available in the United States each year.
