4. TRANSITION TO PROFESSIONAL NURSING PRACTICE !3
Transition to Practice
My transition to the nursing profession is among the major life decisions that I never
regret. Growing up, I had little interest in the nursing profession as the fantasy of being a pilot
drove me. The triggers to my transition were mainly influenced by the frequent visits to some of
the children homes with my mother. She was a social care profession and had a great interest in
the charity works especially in helping children. It is from the time that the value of care for the
less fortunate was significant interest. During the visits, my mam could check out some of the
children who had health problems and aided where possible. I admired her ability to impact joy
in the lives of the children and improve their quality of life considering the majority of them
were from the streets.
It is through caring for others that I realized my interests in the nursing profession. I
wanted to be a part of bigger than myself and improve the quality of life of others. Through
caring for others helped me to be selfless and considered the needs of others in need. The
attribute has made me realize how important every patient is under my care. In the past, I felt less
powerful to transition the quality of life. However, through the nursing education programs,
various nursing experiences I feel more empowered to offer better quality and professional care
for the patients and improve their quality of life.
Nursing Process
My journey to the nursing profession began through the developed interests in caring for
others, improving the quality of life and the influence of my mothers work. Therefore, after high
school, I was already sure of my interests, and it is the reason I began as a certified nursing aide

all the way up. The ability to start from the lowest level has improved the ability to understand
the value of every little aspect of nursing from communication, hygiene, patient care and healing
process (Salmond & Echevaria, 2017). My targets are always to offer high-quality care through
fast recovery and high level of patient satisfaction. It is the reason I have to analyze the entire big
picture of the nature of care and the environment.
The experiences in the nursing profession as a CNA, volunteer and in the social care
visits have made me realize that the ability to have a full picture of care for the patients
influences the ability to offer better care. The full view requires high-level transparency with the
patients. In this case, it implies that the nurse has to provide an ambient and friendly environment
for them to open up quickly without a challenge. From the information, proper diagnosis can be
achieved, and thus adequate medical and therapy treatment can be advocated for the patients
(Azimian et al., 2014). Furthermore, it becomes easy whether the beyond hospital environments
are conducive to facilitate quick recovery for the patient.
Professional Standards
The education program at Platt College is a significant resource in building knowledge,
professional skills, and fieldwork technics. The education program offers an allowance to have a
strong educational basis and nursing through the well-defined practical exposures with various
health facilities. I have an array of experiences in the multiple nursing fields and diverse patients.
It helps me understand the relevance of individualized care following the diversity of the needs
of the patients.
6. TRANSITION TO PROFESSIONAL NURSING PRACTICE !5
The differentiation of care is mainly influenced by the differences of the patients based
on gender, culture, ethnicity, religion, age, and other background attributes (Hussein et al., 2017).
It makes me realize the importance of developing a different chart for each patient. Furthermore,
the need to ensure information privacy for the patients and empathy treatment as it aids to reduce
the time of recovery.
Interprofessional Communication and Collaboration
The critical experience that the educational program has taught me is that nursing is not a
man activity or effort. On the contrary, the success of treatment is influenced by the effective
collaboration of the entire unit of the health professional unit and the patients as well (Hussein et
al., 2017). The network in the healthcare profession, therefore, serves as the basis of improved
care. Communication is an essential element that helps to ensure information and knowledge
sharing and further critically understands the patients.
The approach to sustaining a secure network is through open communication which
helps to facilitate information and knowledge sharing. Every person that is close to the patient or
directly involved has the influence to improve the quality of care. The field experiences have
shown the significance of collaboration between the nurses, doctors, lab technicians, and other
relevant units to improve the decisions of patient care strategy (Gordon et al., 2014).
Human Influence
Inpatient care, it is common that many factors influence the quality of life. The ability to
drive a positive impact on the patients helps to ensure that the patients maintain optimism in the
7. TRANSITION TO PROFESSIONAL NURSING PRACTICE !6
promotion of their health standards. My purpose in the health profession is to help impact the
lives of the patients (Gordon et al., 2014). The effect may appear to be in the short run, but
through constantly passing education and knowledge to people in the community and through the
collaboration with other health professionals, the goal of a healthy community can be achieved.
My role in the healthcare segment is to provide quality patient care and facilitate
education on health to the community. My position involves interaction with patients and peoples
especially those that are vulnerable to various health conditions. I seek to ensure that every single
contact that I make with the patients and other related people impacts an incentive to improve the
quality of life. People should understand that life is precious and they should align their activities
and doings to enhance the quality of life.
Humanities
The ability of a nurse to offer quality care is influenced by the inclusion of the
understandings of nursing. For instance, inclusive sympathy in the majority of the cases in the
nursing care helps me to think critically and make rational decisions in improving the quality of
care for the patients (Gordon et al., 2014). Besides empathy, sympathy, self-examination and
other, additional essential aspects of nursing include understanding patient’s demographics.
The various demographics of the patients help to build individuality in the treatment of
the patients and thus improve the quality of care. The diversity metrics helps to internalize the
various needs of the patients and the best approach to offer maximum utility. Humanities help to
understand people. The better as a nursing profession I know the patients; it puts me at a better
position to improve the quality of work. It helps to build an understanding of the patient’s

conditions and what they are going through (Hussein et al., 2017). Diversity poses different life
experiences and thus building the value of sensitivity towards the patients would be significant.
Platt College plays a significant role in building relevance on the need of the humanities in
improving the quality of life for the patients.
Informed Citizen
Besides the improvement of the quality of care for the patient, it is to my realization
that the patients require a comprehensive understanding of their health conditions. It is, therefore,
important to explain the disease process to the patients and the family members to influence their
behavior and attitude towards improved quality of care. It helps to build rationality and
responsibility in the community towards maintaining a healthy routine (Ebrahimi et al., 2016).
It is obvious that some patients get ill due to lack of knowledge on the strategies to
promote health. Developing a community that is informed should begin with the education of the
patients on the strategy to improve quality of life. Through education of the community on
appropriate health strategies, it helps to empower a healthy society. Patients serve as a key source
of knowledge to the society as they share the knowledge on experiences and thus impact people
on the decisions they make about health. The initial step to ensure health promotion in society is
through education and creating knowledge and insight on the existence of the health conditions
and how to avoid them.
Mathematical Skills and Technology
9. TRANSITION TO PROFESSIONAL NURSING PRACTICE !8
In the current digital society, the nursing profession also aligns with the pace. The
demand for technology in healthcare is intense. The education program enlightens on the
application of the various techniques in nursing practice to improve the quality of care to the
patients. It is through technological aspects that ability to monitor the health progress of patients
offer better and accurate results. Furthermore, mathematical skills help to ensure the rational
administration of medication to the patients and further make calculated moves that improve the
quality of health of the patients.
Numbers are an essential source of information which helps to make rational decisions on
the quality of life to offer for the patients. It is through mathematical calculations that precision
and accuracy is improved for nurses and physicians. Because the lives of people are involved, it
helps to ensure that the best results are achieved for the patients.
Scientific Method
The entire nursing profession is comprehensive of scientific approaches, especially in the
medical system. The scientific knowledge enhanced from the education program is resourceful in
aiding to simplify some of the complex processes to the patients which they may find difficulty
in understanding. It is through the scientific processes that we able to internalize every step of
patient care from diagnosis, treatment to recovery to ensure that they receive high-quality care
treatment program. The primary element of science is the medication as it is through scientific
research and experimental studies that the medication systems are discovered (Azimian et al.,
2014).
Program Outcomes
10. TRANSITION TO PROFESSIONAL NURSING PRACTICE !9
The education program has made me an active part of a patient’s care. As a nurse
practitioner, I understand my roles and the different roles I need to take to ensure that the quality
of life of every patient transitions to the best situation possible.
Provider of Care: the holistic approach of care is the primary approach am going to integrate to
ensure that the entire internal and external environment is ambient to facilitate quick recovery of
the patients.
Leader/Manage: As a leader, the important principles to integrate includes rational decision
making, conflict resolution, communication and further ensuring that the entire healthcare plan is
adequate to facilitate proper care for the patients (Gordon et al., 2014).
Member of the Profession: As a member of the profession I have an intense understanding of
the importance of individualized care plan at all stages of patients care.
Conclusion
The education program has served as a major resource in the improvement of the quality
of life for the patients. Platt College has accorded me with an array of skills and knowledge to
offer quality care to the patients. All the stages of patients care are factored important and put
into consideration as they serve a major role in the facilitation of quality care.
My target while joining the facility was to improve the quality of life of people and build
a st5rong foundation of knowledge and experience in the field of nursing. I now have an
assurance that I can deliver and offer quality care to the patients and ensure high level of
patient’s satisfaction. Health is an essential asset in life it influences the success of other aspects

of life like the social life, economic or even political. It feels a privilege to be a part of a great
attribute of life.
