CAPSAA ELECTION GUIDELINES: HOW TO NOMINATE AND VOTE FOR LEADERSHIP POSITIONS
1. CAPSAA ELECTION GUIDELINES
Positions for Election
The following positions shall be selected during the election of officers:
President
Vice Presidents (Districts 1 and 2)
Secretaries (Districts 1 and 2)
Treasurers (Districts 1 and 2)
Auditors (Districts 1 and 2)
PRO (Districts 1 and 2)
Representatives/Coordinators (Clusters 1-4)
Eligibility
Only school representative of an active member school in good standing shall have the
following privileges:
o To be nominated by a fellow active member school
o To accept nomination as advised by the election committee
o To participate in the election of officers
Active members are classified based on the following requirements (CAPSAA Manual
2009, Section 1):
o school in good standing with updated annual fee
o attendance of at least 60% in all assemblies and activities.
Requirements for active membership shall be based on the previous year before the
election.
Official nominees shall be reviewed by the CAPSAA Election Committee according to
the implementing eligibility requirements.
Election Committee
The election committee shall be composed of the following:
Incumbent CAPSAA Officers (3)
Volunteer Active Member (2)
*Incumbent CAPSA Officers and Volunteer Active members should not be official
nominees in the election.
General Election Procedure
2. Nomination
o All active member schools shall submit a Nomination Form for the possible
candidates for the election.
o Nomination Forms should be submitted to the secretary or cluster coordinators on
or before March 9, 2016.
o The secretary shall receive the nomination forms from all the active member
schools and shall submit list of nominees to the Election Committee.
o Election Committee shall meet and take appropriate action on the list of initial
nominees.
o Secretary shall execute appropriate action based on the decision of the election
committee.
o Official nominees must inform the secretary on his/her decision to accept or not
accept the nomination.
o Secretary shall perform necessary action based on the decision of the nominees.
o Election committee shall prepare Official Ballot for the election.
Election
o Election committee shall distribute the official ballot to the eligible members
before voting begins.
o Active members shall vote based on the nominees enlisted in the official ballot.
o Election committee shall tabulate the number of votes and shall declare the new
officers before the end of the assembly.
o Newly elected officers will vote among themselves respective positions of the
association.
