This document summarizes an assessment and evaluation case study of an astronomy education project in Italy called EU-UNAWE. The project involved over 5,600 children and 400 teachers across 10 schools in Italy. Specifically, the case study focused on two third grade classes in Ronco Briantino, near Milan. The project used a Reggio Emilia inspired approach that emphasized seeing children as competent learners. Activities for the classes included a visit to a planetarium, developing schoolwork on topics of interest to students, meeting astronomers via Skype, an overnight event at the school, and a final event for parents.
