10. Clinical features
1. Acute poisoning
– Euphoria with drowsiness and disorientation
– Motor incoordination
– Stimulation of appetite
– Tachycardia
– Nausea, anxiety, confusion, delusions
– Burnt rope odour- if it is smoked

11. 2. Chronic poisoning
– Amotivational syndrome : lethargic, apathetic
– Hashish insanity : paranoid psychosis with violent
behaviour, running amok
– Increased susceptibility to pharyngitis, bronchitis

1. Acute poisoning
– Stomach wash
– Antipsychotic
drug
– Psychotherapy
2. Chronic poisoning
– Gradual withdrawal of
drug
– Diazepam for anxiety
– Antipsychotics for
psychosis
– Psycotherapy
