Two psychosocial factors selected were chronic stress and behavioral/social factors. These relate to cancer regulation as chronic stress can weaken the immune system's ability to fight tumors and behavioral/social factors like isolation can increase stress levels. Two immune factors were immune function and inflammation. Impaired immune function reduces the body's ability to detect and destroy cancer cells, while inflammation from chronic stress can promote tumor growth. Two cognitive/behavioral interventions that may complement cancer treatment are stress management and social support. Articles found discussed how stress management interventions helped reduce inflammation and social support helped regulate immune function in cancer patients.
