2. Camera Shots

3. Long Shot
A Long shot shows the whole
of a character. This makes it
able to show movement and
action.

4. Mid Shot
A Mid Shot is a still shot that
helps audiences to establish a
character through their
clothing. It can also be used to
show conversation. It further
shows the mise en scene in a
shot.

5. Close Up
Close Ups show facial
expression, and the mood of
the character. It also shows
significance.

6. Extreme Close
Up
An extreme close up usually
shows a small amount of a
face (e.g. eyes, mouth etc.). It
can also be used on objects.

7. Establishing Shot
Establishing Shots are used to
establish a location. They are
usually a Panoramic or Long
Shot.

8. Two Shot
A Two Shot is a shot of two
people. It can further
demonstrate the relationship
between 2 characters.

9. P.O.V
Point of View Shots show the
characters perspective. It
positions the audience as a
character.

10. O.T.S
An Over the Shoulder shot lets
you see what the character is
looking at. This helps people
determine what the character
is looking at.

11. Camera Angles

12. High Angle
Makes the person in the shot
look smaller, and therefore less
powerful, insignificant or weak.

13. Birds Eye View
Usually used to establish
location, it is also similar to
Worms Eye View, as it is used
as more of a creative effect
rather than a professional
camera angle.

14. Low Angle
Looks up to a character, which
gives a sense of power and
superiority.
Commonly used for male
characters.

15. Worms Eye View
Isn’t a commonly used camera
angle but is used as more of a
creative effect than what it is
an angle.

16. Canted Angle
A Canted Angle is slanted. This
connotes strangeness in the
scene, whether it is in relation
to the character or location.

Movements

18. Panning Shot
Camera moving from side to
side whilst remaining stationary

19. Tracking Shot
This type of shot follows the
character rather than
remaining stationary. This is
normally filmed on a ‘dolly’.

20. Tilt Shot
This shot is used for following
vertical movement. This is like
a panning shot, despite the
fact that it is vertical.

21. Crane Shot
This is the vertical equivalent
of a tracking shot. Rather than
remaining stationary, the
camera moves with the point of
focus.
