This document defines and provides examples of various camera shot types:
- An aerial shot is from above and is often used at the beginning to establish the scene, like in The Sound of Music.
- A close up focuses on one character or object, usually from the shoulders up, like in the cell block tango scene of Chicago.
- A cowboy shot frames from mid-thigh up, used in westerns like A Million Ways to Die in the West.
- A low angle shot looks up at a character, making them appear bigger, as in Con Air when Cyrus announces he controls the plane.
