Senior CAD technician using AutoCAD Civil 3D / AutoDesk Inventor 2016
Currently I work within an infrastructure design team at RES-Ltd. Our team do everything
from planning and development on and off site to the detailed civil design and construction
plans. I have personally been involved with onshore and offshore wind farms, solar PV,
energy Storage sites and Biomass Power station projects.
On a daily basis, in a very busy design office, I am expected to understand and produce an
array of multidisciplinary drawings.
• Land owner lease plans & option plan for planning submissions. This include section
38 plans. Section 6 works plans.
• Site Survey and information drawings. These include combined constraints drawings
based on environmental impact studies,.
• Preparation of a 3D surface model based on survey and Lidar data. Including peat
probe models and geotechnical bore hole data models.
• Creation of Autotrack vehicle models. These include main tractor or horse as well as
the trailer for the blade and tower deliveries.
• Swept path analysis based on design manual for roads and bridges (DMRB) or
standards for highways UK. Based on models I created in Autotrack i will do a
Complete Access study plan from port to site. Looking at pinch points and obstacles
on the route. Such as vertical and horizontal clearances of power lines and buildings
for the team to produce a report.
• Creation of Civil 3D track design models for preliminary design checks and full
sections of design gradients in line with turbine supplier.
• Site entrance design and visibility splay details based on (DMRB) with cross sections
• Detailed site design model (cut/fill/spoil areas) with crane hardstanding and support
crane pads. On site work areas, such as substation and grid connection control
building. Site compounds location and welfare building details. Turning heads
passing bay layouts.
• Good knowledge of General Arrangement for foundation design and Re enforced
concrete detailing.
• Metmast detail plans
• Sustainable drainage systems GA (Suds)
• Directional drilling layout cable routes (offshore & river crossings)
• GA drawings and details of cable route as well as electrical ducting. Earthing and
single line diagrams and schematics. Scada design diagrams
• Supporting the construction team with design drawings and checking contractor
interface of design drawings.
• Supporting the operations and site management teams with drawings.
I am expected to help with continual improvement of the CAD team standards and produce
the supporting documentation to improve efficiency. I am responsible for new employee
