sterilization Essay
The only way to ensure that sterilization has occurred is to use the biological monitoring methods.
This is because these are the only tests done which show whether or not actual microbial life has
been killed. Biological methods are the only ones which are recommended by the CDC (Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention), the AAMI (Association for the Advancement of Medical
Instrumentation), the AMA (American Medical Association), OSHA, and OSAP (Office Safety
and Asepsis Procedures Foundation)
Biological monitoring is basically evaluating a sterilization process by rendering highly resistant
bacterial spores biologically inert. The highly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After exposure they are incubated along with an unexposed or control group of spores for the
same period of time. If sterilization has occurred the spores which were exposed will not multiply.
The control group should grow microorganisms and display a change in color. If this does not
occur, then it s spores have been inactivated and the test is invalid. This is because if the control
spores were inactivated, it is possible the spores which were exposed also became inactivated prior
to sterilization. Every item sterilized in the load with the indicator involved in an invalid test is
considered unsterile. This is the case whenever there is an uncertainty about either the indicator of
the control.
Biological testing should be done often. The CDC recommends one spore strip test per sterilizer
per week. The biological indicator should be placed in the center of the largest and most difficult
to sterilize pack. The pack should then be placed horizontally in the lower front portion of the of
the sterilizer chamber to make the sterilization process as difficult as possible. Testing should be
done repeatedly every time a sterilizer is calibrated, repaired, or relocated to make sure the
machine is working correctly. It should also be performed whenever a new type of packaging
material or tray is used, after training new sterilization personnel, and after any change in sterilizer
loading procedures.

Job Right After High School
Moving out is something that every teen dreams of doing once they are out of high school. Once
they are out of high school and met with reality, they realize that it s hard moving out right after
high school. This project has helped me open my eyes to what would happen.
Finding a job right after high school in Porterville was a struggle because most jobs require going
through college. I also wanted a job that would provide me with enough money to live alone and
support how I live, but that was a struggle. Houses were expensive, along with the fact that most
well paid jobs required more than I would have been able to offer.
After I have researched all of the prices for things such as a house, car, utilities, etc, I discovered
that the

How Did The Maccabees Influence The Jewish
The Jews shifted their allegiance to Alexander and in return Alexander allowed the Jews to
observe their own laws, gave them exemption from tribute tax during the Sabbath years.
Alexander also encouraged the Jewish people to live in Alexandria, Egypt and gave them
privileges reserved for his own Greek people. When Alexander died in 323 B. C., some of his
generals divided the empire among themselves: The Ptolemies of Egypt, the Seleucids of Persia and
parts of Asia Minor, and the Antigonids of Macedon. (Intertestamental Period New Testament
Background, 2001).
At first, the Egyptian Ptolemaic Empire controlled the Jews from 320 198 B. C., and then Seleucid
(Syrian) Empire, around 198 B. C., acquired control over the Jewish populace. While the
Ptolemaic Empire was tolerant of the Jewish culture and religion, the Seleucid Empire was not.
The Seleucids made determined efforts to force Hellenism on the Jews. Some accepted it, but most
did not (Halley, 2000). The Greek Seleucid, Antiochus, severely punished the unaccepting Jews
which eventually provoked the Maccabees (Hasmonean Era) to revolt. By 164 B. C., the
Maccabees controlled the area around Jerusalem and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows how engrained the Hellenistic culture was and perhaps how it influenced the Apostle
Paul, within his Hellenistic Jewish culture, to write as he did (Russell, 1991 2016.). Eddy (2014)
confirms the time period of the Hellenistic influences that Russell discusses in his work. Two
cultures are residing side by side and a certain amount of melding is expected to take place. While
this is true about language, societal practices such as commerce, schooling and language occurring,
the Judean religious practices remained true to its tenets. The Jewish community in large retained

Stereotypes In The Film Juno
Juno is a 2007 film directed by Jason Reitman and written by Diablo Cody. It stars Ellen Page as
the title character who unexpectedly becomes pregnant at age 16. Juno deals primarily with the
subject of teenage pregnancy and this storyline comprises the bulk of the plot. Juno reflects how
society s gender norms and attitudes have changed over time. In the past, it is likely that teenage
pregnancywould be portrayed negatively. However, Junodeals with her pregnancy in a cheerful
and upbeat manner and never loses her sharp tongue or quick wit and she receives support from
her family. The issue of casual sex is portrayed as being very normal since Juno and Paulie are not
in a committed relationship. Juno is a strong and independent character

Transformity Vs Conformity
What do these texts suggest about the conflict between pursuing a personal desire and choosing to
conform? Support your idea(s) with reference to one or more of the texts presented and to your
previous knowledge and/or experience.
Sacrifice Praise for Self Success From a young age, children are told to by their parents to Be
yourself in all circumstances. They are told that if they stay true to themselves, then they will have
true friends, they will be content, and they will be successful. This lesson is taught much, but
seldom followed. Most people have the desire to follow their own path, but the motivation is
lacking to sacrifice what is expected and therefore, many conform. The texts The Jackhammer
Syndrome and The Orchid Thief address this idea, introducing the conflict that there is between
conformity and personal fulfillment, suggesting that, to follow one s own desires is the difficult
path, but it is the path that leads to true prosperity. For someone to pursue their desires requires
them to sacrifice self consciousness of what other people think of the way they re living their life.
Living life in order to please others is an extreme waste of potential. In, The Orchid Thief, John
Laroche sacrificed his chance to become a surgeon in order to live a more simple life and pursue
his countless passions. Laroche was given the nicknames Troublemaker and Crazy White Man ,
and was often referred to as eccentric. Although often labelled in a negative way,

The Battle Of Bull Run. The American Civil War Was Fought
The Battle of Bull Run
The American Civil War was fought from 1861 to 1865 to determine whether the Union or
Confederacy would survive. The fight would take place between the North, called Union states and
the South, called Confederate states. The Confederate states wanted to leave the North and South
union and stand on their own.
The war started on April 12, 1861 when Confederate forces attacked a Union military base at Fort
Sumter in South Carolina. The reason the war started at this time was that Abraham Lincoln had just
been elected President in 1860. Abraham Lincoln wanted to end slavery but keep the union
together. The North had an increase of industry and the South still depended on farming the land.
However, the South ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The battle was also known as the Battle of First Manassas. This was the first major battle of the
Civil War. Even though the Union Army outnumbered the Confederate Army, the experience of the
Confederate Army made the difference and they won that battle.
The Confederate reinforcements had time to arrive by railroad because the Union s forces were
slow positioning themselves. Even though the Union and Confederate sides had about 18,000
troops in their first battle, they were not trained and they were led poorly. The outcome of this
battle was a Confederate victory. The Union forces suffered a disorganized retreat of their troops.
Union troops marched from the Federal capital in Washington, D.C. to strike a Confederate force
along a small river known as Bull Run. After fighting on the defensive for most of the day, the
rebels rallied and were able to break the Union right flank, sending them into a chaotic retreat
towards Washington. The Confederate victory gave the South a false confidence and shocked
many in the North, who realized the war would not be won as easily as they had hoped.
By July 1861, the northern press and the public were eager for the Union Army to make an
advance on Richmond, ahead of the planned meeting of the Confederate Congress there on July
20, 1861. Encouraged by early victories of Union troops in western Virginia, and by the war fever
spreading through

What Does Hugo Say About The Coming Of Cosette s Life
1. Describe the incident at Waterloo.
June 18, on the night of the Battle of Waterloo, corpses were lying all around when the English beat
the French. One French officer, Pontmercy, was thought to be dead when Officer Thenardier
pickpocketed him. Pontmercy turned out to be alive, and Thenardier told him that the English had
won when Pontmercy asked. Thenardier then told him to save himself now, now that he had
already saved him.
2. What is ironic about the incident?
Pontmercy thought that Thenardier was there to save him and even offered his watch and purse
when Thenardier wasn t even trying to help him, but instead was the one who pickpocketed
Pontmercy.

Valjean s two white visions were of virtue and love. One of Valjean s two visions was virtue,
when the Bishop gave Valjean the two candle sticks, he swore to do good after that. The other was
of love, and it was brought about by Cosette when he adopted her and felt her love.
13. What does Hugo say about the coming of Valjean into Cosette s life? (Use your own words, not
Hugo s.)
Hugo says that the coming of Valjean into Cosette s life was like the coming of God, or an
important person in life.
14. a. Why had Valjean learned to read? The evil purpose of taking revenge of the society that
denounced him. b. How was he using this skill now?
He teaches Cosette how to read with the intention of goodness.

The Charter At Suffolk Speech And Hearing Center
The covenant not to compete that Ms. Rice signed as a part of her employment contract at
Suffolk Speech and Hearing Center ( Suffolk Speech ) is most likely going to be found
enforceable. As found in Technical Aid Corp v. Allen, there is a three prong test to determine
whether or not a restrictive covenant is reasonable and therefore enforceable. 591 A.2d 262, 265 66
(N.H. 1991). The first being, is the restriction greater than is necessary to protect the legitimate
interests of the employer. Id. Secondly, does the restriction impose an undue hardship on the
employee. Id. at 266. And lastly, is the restriction injurious to the public. Id. For the purposes of this
memo, only the first two elements will be analyzed as the third has already been found to be a non
issue. Because the covenant that Ms. Rice signed at the start of her employment at Suffolk Speech
was reasonable in that it protects Suffolk speech from competition in an appropriate surrounding
area that does not pose an undue hardship, it will be very difficult for the court to deem the
covenant unenforceable. The first issue that must go satisfied or unsatisfied is whether or not the
restriction from the covenant not to compete was greater than necessary to protect to legitimate
interests of Suffolk Speech. Id. The court must evaluate a few things when determining whether this
element is satisfied or not. Important factors to determine if the restriction is greater than necessary
includes the size of the company,

Chretien De Troyes s Romances
The romance genre is centered around many themes, the most famous being love. The
protagonist is almost always the one character that is receiving love or working towards
obtaining love. The Romance genre began around the 12th century in Europe. The most famous
author of that genre and time was none other than Chretien De Troyes. Troyes is the author of
seven poems, four of which were completed by just him. The other three have been worked on
and finished by other authors. In this essay the themes from two of his works will be discussed.
The works being analyzed are The Knight of the Cart (Lancelot) and The Story of the Grail
(Perceval). The first theme being discussed is love. Love would be the most common thing found in
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, the theme of mercy will be explored. In the story The Knight of the Cart, Lancelot gives
many characters second chances. Lancelot was quite strong in virtue for he showed many
people how merciful he was. One example would be of when Lancelot fought the proud knight
and was going to let him go. Yet, the girl on the tawny mule rode up and persuaded Lancelot to
give her the proud knight s head and so the knight was killed (lines 2784 2947). Even though the
knight met his demise, the situation showed Lancelot s mercy. The knight would have been alive
if it were not for the girl coaxing Lancelot to kill him for her. An example from The Story of the
Grail, Perceval shows mercy to people also. Perceval fights, wins, and shows mercy to both
Anguingueron and Clamadeu. Perceval sends the two men to service the maiden which Kay had
slapped in the beginning of the story. The examples from the two stories show that mercy is a
common theme. Furthermore, mercy is found alongside of the theme of honor. Both virtues are
found in knights in the time period of the romance stories. The themes discussed above are found in
both Chreten De Troyes s stories. The themes can also be found in many other romance stories
written in the 12th century. The difference between an epic and a romance is that epics glorify
military victory and statuses; romances

Female Characters In A Lesson Before Dying
The fictional town of Bayonne in A Lesson Before Dying is based on a plantation where the
author Ernest J. Gaines was born. This novel took place in the late 1940s a time when radical
discrimination was a major problem, and the Jim Crow laws validated segregation and
discrimination. Although the major personalities are males, there are three femalecharacters that
influence the males to solve the difficulties in their life they would usually ignore. Each female
character persuades and motivates Jefferson and Grant from running away from their
responsibilities. Tante Lou and Miss Emma convince Grant to make Jefferson die like a man and
not a hog, and Vivian makes Grant stay in the quarter and not run away from his purpose in his life.
One of the first female characters introduced is Miss Emma, Jefferson s godmother. The first
description of Miss Emma is in the courtroom where she is described as a heavy set woman
weighing approximately two hundred pounds. We know she is a caring woman because while in
the courtroom she never got up to use the bathroom or get a glass of water. Even though she may
not be strong enough to sway the juries mind or protect Jefferson of the unfair sentencing of death
by electrocution. She is strong enough to stay in the courtroom and give the support that Jefferson
needs. Everyone by now knew what the outcome would be for Jefferson. Gaines illustrates the
reason why Miss Emma and the other blacks were upset was because his defense attorney called

Red # 40 Dyes
In the United States and in most of the world food dyes are exceedingly common. In addition to
this, they have been brought into question as being dangerous for human and environmental health.
From general observation and knowledge about this topic I knew that Red #40 dye (Allura Red
AC) is at the height of this controversy. After some initial research, I discovered more information
on Azo dyes, their effect on the environment, as well as wastewater treatment used to decontaminate
water containing these dyes. This led to my interest on the topic of Electrochemical Advanced
Oxidation Processes (EAOPs) as a fairly recent solution to environmental issues regarding
contaminants in water. I was curious to see how these processes work, as well as... Show more

This is largely because they are relatively cheap and simple to manufacture. Furthermore, they
produce vibrant shades of color and are reasonably soluble in water (Liu, Wan, Nan, n.d.).
However, these dyes are now manufactured at such a large scale that they bring up numerous
health and environmental concerns. In recent years azo dyes, especially Allura Red AC, have
been connected to child hyperactivity, which also raises concerns over other potentially toxic
effects they can have on living organisms ( FDA Probes Link , 2011). This is only amplified by
the fact that azo dyes such as Allura Red AC and Azo Grenadine are also especially recalcitrant to
conventional methods of wastewater treatment. Research on this topic led me to an article on
electrochemical advanced oxidation processes and their potential as a solution to mineralizing
especially recalcitrant compounds in the environment, Decontamination of Wastewaters
Containing Synthetic Organic Dyes by Electrochemical Methods: A Review. This led me to
pursue the investigation in my extended essay on the topic of electrochemical advanced
oxidation processes and the effect they have on azo dyes such as Allura Red AC and Azo
Grenadine. In order to evaluate the effect of this process, I made the decision to do a comparison
of the two dyes. This led me to the question, How does the effect of electrochemical advanced
oxidation processes vary between Allura Red AC and Azo

The Canadian Punk Band
Music is a powerful force in this world that has always brought joy to people and been a way to
almost escape reality. Punk is no exception to this, all of the artists in this movie were extremely
passionate about what they do and they all used it as some sort of escape, whether it was just to
feel young again or to avoid bad neighborhoods and drugs, punk was their escape. The first group
they talked out about from Canada, called the Forgotten Rebels, were seen as sort of godfathers
of punk and influenced a lot of people around the world. The lead singer of the band talked about
how they still have real jobs in Canada aside from being rock stars, and how preforming was a
way to escaped that life and feel like kids again. They also did it to entertain themselves and to just
have fun with the music and the idea of punk. According to the lead singer everything hey did was

Examples Of Peeking Order Theory
Peeking Order Theory
Based on the finance dictionary, a peeking order theory means an argument that external financial
financing transactions, especially those related to poor selection of issues, create a dynamic
environment where firms have a priority, or borrow a financial source, when all others are the same.
Internally generated funds are the most popular funds, followed by new debt, and debt equity
grants. Finally, new equity is the least important source. Order theory assumes that there is no target
capital structure. Due to the weak selection, the firm chose internal for external finance. When
external funding is needed, firms prefer debt to equity as information related to debt issues is low
cost. This theory emphasizes that businesses must comply with hierarchy and internal funding
sources if available, and debts are preferred over equity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The static trading theory and pecking order theory are two financial principles that help companies
choose their capital structure. Both play the same role in the decision making process depending on
the type of capital structure the company wishes to achieve. However, empirically the pecking
order theory is most widely used in determining the company s capital structure.
Static trading theory is a theory of finance based on the work of economists of Modigliani and
Miller. With the theory of static trading, and since corporate debt repayment is a deductible tax and
there is less risk involved in taking debt on equity, debt financing is initially cheaper than equity
financing. This means that companies can reduce the weighted average cost of capital (WACC)
through capital structure with debt on equity. However, increasing the amount of debt also
increases the risk to the company, somewhat offsets the WACC decline. Thus, static trading theory
identifies a mix of debt and equity where the WACC decline offsets the increased financial risk to

Animals Are Great Pets
Animals are great pets Animals make great pets and people love having pets for many reasons.
There are a variety of animals to choose from to be yours or your family s pet. Nowadays it is
rare seeing someone without a pet or hearing someone talk about them not owning a pet.
Everywhere you go you see people walking their pet(s), bathing them in their front yard, some
have their dogs driving in the front seat with them, etc. Some of the most common pets are dogs,
cats, and hamsters. The first kind being dogs. Dogs are great companions. They are intelligent,
loyal to their owner, and affectionate. Though, they do need more attention than any other pet.
They are a bit needier and need more responsibility. Dogs need to be properly trained so they can
be kept inside the house and so they can behave well with other people. They also need to be
walked on a daily basis and fed. Dogs need more attention because they get sad if they do not get
enough attention. They are also very playful. They will play with you when you want and they
will listen to everything you tell them. They try to understand every word you tell them. Although
dogs are a little harder to care for, they have their benefits. For example, if a person... Show more

Telephone To Heaven
No Telephone to Heaven by Michelle Cliff was published in 1987. This novel is primarily set in
Jamaica and the United States from the sixties to the eighties. Michelle Cliff engages with the
history of colonialism, slavery, and racism as well as resistance to these institutions throughout the
novel. The author also explores the theme of violence due to colonialismin her novel. Michelle Cliff
depicts a theme of violence that existed in Jamaica through three of her main characters Clare,
Christopher, and Harry. In Cliff s narrative, both her characters and the events that take place are
buried with the forgotten history of the Caribbean in order to understand the violence that persists

In the eighteenth century, it was known as the Land Of Look Behind, in reference to the caution
required of English soldiers who traversed the area to root out the Maroons (Foyd 12; 41). As long
as there was slavery there was also resistance, in the form of revolts and escapes. In places where
the natural habitat provided spaces to hide out long term, escaped slaves created communities of
their own and were often known as Maroons (Brown). Cliff alludes the Maroon tradition of
resistance in several occasions throughout the novel. However, Cliff also depicts a historical

Gospel Of Matthew Essay
New material begins at the start of Matthew with the birth and lineage of Jesus of Nazareth
through the first 2 chapters. The Sermon on the Mount was then introduced in chapters 5 7.
Jesus refers to himself the Human One often (i.e. chapter 9 verse 6) and even the Anointed One
(chapter 23 verse 10), which seems to contradict the Messianic Secret not only in this text, but also
Mark. The scene of him walking on water added the part where Peter joined him in chapter 14
verses 28 29. There are many new parables and lessons too (i.e. forgiveness chapter 18 verses 21 25
and son of the king s wedding chapter 22 verses 1 15). Jesusalso attacks the Pharisees more as seen
in chapter 23 verses 13 36. The apocalyptic aspect of the gospel of Matthewis expanded up in

Essay on Minamata Patients’ Life and Minamata Compensation
Minamata disease was discovered on May 1st 1956. There were 12,617 people who were
recognized as patients. However, these numbers were only patients with the certificate. People had
to apply for the certificate certifying that they got impacts from Minatama and got the disease.
However, it was not easy to get the certificate as many people had to apply many times to get the
Certification. Another issue was related to the discrimination to the Minamata patients should
handle. People would disparage people with the Certification. Hence, the Minamata patients chose
to hide their status, even from their families and relatives.

going to hospitals as no cure for this disease. Furthermore, the application to get the Certification is
too difficult. The government should make it easier as the patients already suffered from the
disease. The Japan State also needs to conduct the comprehensive health survey. The survey is quite
important. No official survey was conducted until now. People still don t know how widely harm

The Scientific Systems Of Engineering Management
Introduction
Engineering Management refers to a specialized type of management which is primarily concerned
with the application of certain engineering principles to business activities or practice. In other
words, Engineering Management can be said to be a career which unites the technological problem
solving aspect of engineering and the administrative, planning, and organizational capabilities of
management to facilitate the efficient operation of activities within a sophisticated establishment
from the start to the end.
Primarily, Engineering Management focuses on the planning, installation, improvement, and design
of integrated systems of material, people, information, energy, and equipment. This is achieved
through utilization of specialized skills and knowledge in the physical sciences, social sciences, and
mathematical disciples. This knowledge and expertise are integrated into methods and principles of
engineering analysis and design (Haverila and Fehr 574). Through this incorporation, they can
evaluate, specify, and predict results that are likely to be obtained. The scientific systems in
engineering management are majorly responsible for designing, implementing, and developing
models to be used as the basis for evaluation and analysis of results. Comparative analysis is
achieved by taking into consideration the relationship that exists between engineering aspects and
the management duties such as organizing, planning, controlling, and leading. Moreover, these

A contract (according to Gibson 1997) is a lawful agreement made between two or more persons
within the limits of their contractual capacity, with the serious intention of creating a legal
obligation, communicating such intention, without vagueness, each to the other and being of the
same mind as to the subject matter, to perform positive or negative acts which are possible of
performance.
Contracting parties through agreement, breach and operation of law can terminate contractual
agreements. This paper will focus on termination of contracts through breach. Breach of a contract
involves conducts, which are inconsistent with proper performance of the agreement. It is a
violation of a material fact of the agreement. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result he was not obliged to take the post in order to mitigate the losses.
SCRUTINY OF CAUSATION AND REMOTENESS OF DAMAGES
To avoid undue hardship to the defaulting party a line must be drawn separating damages
resulting from his breach for which he should be liable and damages which, although in the broad
sense of the word are as a result of his breach, are so remote to extent that he should not be liable
for them. This line is drawn when separating General (intrinsic) damages from Special (extrinsic)
damages.
The courts insist that the damages should be direct rather than indirect. Direct damages are also
known as general or intrinsic damages. They flow naturally and generally from the kind of breach
of contract in question.
Indirect damages are special or extrinsic damages, which are only recovered in special
circumstances attending the conclusion of the contract.
In Zimbabwe there is only one possible test that could be applied to decide whether special or
extrinsic damages can be recovered for breach of contract. This test is the contemplation
principle. The test applied under this principle is to check whether the contracting parties actually
or presumptively foresaw that the breach of contract in question would result in the type of loss
being sued for. Case in point is that of Collective Self Finance Scheme (CFC) v Asharia (A) year
200 in which CFC contracted to buy a property from the respondent and paid a deposit. CFC later

Apple Computer vs Microsoft
Introduction:
It seems that the competition that has been brewing between Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) and
Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) has never really died down from the late 1970s, even as both
companies have had ups and downs in the stock market and in the consumer products market as
well.
Apple Inc. v. Microsoft Corp., was a copyright infringement lawsuit in which Apple Computer
sought to prevent Microsoft and Hewlett Packard from using visual graphical user interface (GUI)
elements that were similar to those in Apple s Lisa and Macintosh operating systems. Some critics
claimed that Apple was really attempting to gain all intellectual property rights over the desktop
metaphor for computer interfaces, and perhaps all GUIs, on personal ... Show more content on

The district court had to grapple with graphical user interfaces in the first instance and for the
first time, with a claim of copying a computer program s artistic look as an audio visual work
instead of program codes registered as a literary work. In this case there is also the unusual,
added complexity of a license that arguably covers some or most of the allegedly infringing
works. The district court therefore had to cut new paths as it went along; we have the luxury of
looking at the case at the end of the trip. From this vantage point, it is clear that treatment of
,Apple s GUIs, whose visual displays are licensed to a great degree and which are a tool for the
user to access various functions of a computer in an aesthetically and economically pleasing way,
follows naturally from a long line of copyright decisions which recognizes that works cannot be
substantially similar where analytic dissection demonstrates that similarities in expression are either
authorized, or arise from the use of ,common ideas or their logical extensions.
Therefore they hold:
(1) Because there was an agreement by which Apple licensed the right to make certain derivative
works, the district court properly started with the license to determine what Microsoft was
permitted to copy. Infringement cannot be founded on a licensed similarity. We read Microsoft s
license as the, district court did, to cover visual displays not the Windows 1.0

High-Tech Workers in the Silicon Valley Essay
Brief History of the Valley
The Silicon Valley area became a major manufacturing power after World War II. The Cold War
furthered this development, as industries involved in defense, aerospace, steel, oil, automobiles,
and so on prospered (Hossfeld 405 406). The high technology industry began in the laboratories of
corporations such as Bell Laboratories, American Telephone and Telegraph, Fairchild Camera and
Instrument, and General Electric during this Cold War era (Bacon, Organizing ). Employment in
California, especially Silicon Valley, grew rapidly between 1950 and 1980 due to technical

Who are these workers?
Silicon Valley is home to large, well paid professional workforce, but the Valley s high tech
companies directly and indirectly employ a vast number of poorly paid workers locally,

In my opinion, Human nature is something that everyone talks about but no one can define
precisely. Our thoughts, feelings, and behavior are produced not only by our individual
experiences and environment in our own lifetime but also by what happened to our ancestors
years ago. Also, our thoughts, feelings, and behavior are shared, to a large extent, by all men or
women, despite seemingly large cultural differences which causes hate, fights, and wars. In King
Lear, he is treated very horrible by his two daughters Goneril and Regan. They both neglect him
and plot his death, which shows how human nature works. The more power and money you have,
the more you want, greed takes over. For two daughters to plot their fathers death is brutal, I pray

intergovernmental agencies and the citizens can frequently have an open discussion such as media

Affirmative Action Plan
To understand the reasoning or drive behind an organization implementing a voluntary affirmative
action plan it is important to understand what such a plan might entail. An affirmative action plan is
different than the basic Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws and guidelines. EEO laws are
designed to ensure that employers do not use race, gender, or religion when viewing a person s job
qualifications or performance (Bernardin Russell, 2013). Affirmative actionplans work a step further
to establish practices and procedures that aim to recruit and promote diversity and inclusion of
individuals traditionally under represented or historically viewed as disadvantaged groups

Implementation Of A Competitive Environment

the external environment driven by heightened competition and more demanding customers (Nahm

with greater reliability and speed and a superior ability to change and continuously improve, are
some of the pillars in the development of operations strategy in organisations that seek to survive
in this competitive environment (Hayes and Pisano 1996; Ward and Duray 2000; Voss 2005; Datta

Lincoln Electrics Essay
1.Should Lincoln Electric expand into India by investing in a major production facility there?
I think that Lincoln Electric (LE) should definitely has a production facility in India because of its
growth and foreseen opportunities, but if I were LE I would suggest to enter with a local partner
in order to gain knowledge and experience in how the country operates in terms of bureaucracy,
labor, culture and so on.
LE is known for its high quality products and its technical innovations. On its 60 years of
international experience, the company gained valuable knowledge on what to do and what to avoid
when moving abroad, and that is why they refocused their expansion strategy into joint ventures,
instead of acquisitions avoiding the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That could jeopardize LE position of finding a partner in India, because the company would be
exposed to share some of its secrets with them, and as the case states, they wouldn t mind coping it
in the future. Another difficulty the company will face is the two main competitors that are already
doing business in India, Ador welding Ltd and ESAD India.
Finally, we have to wonder how the Liability of Foreigners would affect the company. Even though
we do not have any direct reference on the culture and political situation, we can assume that they
are a lot different to what the company is used in its own country. Therefore, and even though the
recommendation is to enter India finding a partner that can help them understanding the culture,
distribution channels and help them dealing with the Indian bureaucracy, the LOF variables should
be taking into account to help the company minimize the failure risk of succeeding in India.
2.Irrespective of your answer to the first question, suppose Lincoln Electric does expand into the
Indian market by investing in a production facility: Should they enter through acquisition,
Greenfield, or joint venture? What factors inform your decision among these entry modes?
Analyzing the pros and cons of each entry mode, I would say that a Joint Venture(JV) is the best
option for LE to enter the country. On the one hand, local partners can help LE to reduce the LOF.

Learning / Workforce Development Former CEO of Intel Andrew Grove once said, Success breeds
complacency. Complacency breeds failure (1996). It is important for a company to provide its staff
with the opportunities to develop and provide new insights into company processes. While in his
tenure at Intel, Grove urged executive to allow staff to experiment with new techniques and
processes while concurrently performing the production of existing products (Grove, 1996).
Acknowledging the importance of creative freedom and invention allows for an improved process
to be implemented without a significant reduction in production levels (Sheridan, 2004). Learning
enhances people s abilities; it drives creation, workplace competencies and motivates others to do
the same (Loon, Lim, Teck, amp; Lai, 2012). A company can develop their staff internally while
creating new ideas, updating procedures and processes. Constant improvements do not come
automatically. Instituting a program that promotes continuous learning and workforce development
can eliminate down time between successes and will create a substantial competitive advantage.
Strategic decision maker As an organization undergoes change, its leaders also need to have the
willingness to do so.

Hearing Loss Data Analysis
LINICAL DATA ANALYSIS The type of hearing loss was classified as sensorineural, conductive,

Conductive hearing loss was defined as normal bone conduction thresholds (20 dB) and an

Compare And Contrast Immanuel Kant And Kant

stronger. Abortion is the discontinuation of a pregnancy, which is generally followed by the
death the fetus (Merriam Webester), and there are many moral questions raised with the issue
which make it a heated topic in popular culture. The one that will be discussed in this paper

Maximum Price (GMP) is a contractual arrangement between an owner and an entity to perform
a fixed scope of work for a price that is guaranteed to not exceed the stated maximum price. GMP
typically includes a base cost along with several allowances and contingencies and may result in

the owner and the engaged entity (Cmaa, 2012). Reimbursable contracts come in a variety of
forms and sometimes it is coupled with a not to exceed maximum price. Reimbursable contract is

Exploring the Foreclosure Crisis Essay examples
Mortgage. The word stems from the old French phrase mort gaige, which loosely translates into
dead pledge. Truth in title, it precisely sums up its bearing on modern homeowners. In order to
fully grasp the weight and severity of the former statement, a thorough definition must be produced.
A mortgage is a debt and/or pledge, which cannot be expunged under ordinary circumstances. Its
demise depends upon one of two occurrences, the first being its payoff. The other option is
payment failure otherwise known as foreclosure. The latter seems to be an unsettling staple of
society in America and abroad, thus fulfilling its namely obligation. More and more homes are
going into foreclosure, leaving an equal amount of homeowners to face the... Show more content on

To fully rectify this issue, we must root out the cause and begin the rehabilitation of its very
foundations, foundations being the operative word. The foundations are basically every participant
in the world of mortgage and real estate, but the most prominent characters are appraisers,
realtors, banks and surprisingly homeowners. This scenario was the product of a greedy,
corruption filled industry sponsoring a trickle down effect. Greed and corruption play obvious
key roles in this particular transpiration. They are counterparts for all parties involved. For
example, homeowners know that wealth equals power, as professed by the materialistic culture
created by ourselves. In order to (please pardon the colloquialism) keep up with the Joneses, one
must have a big house, a big car and so on and so forth. However, big houses cost big money,
which a lot of people don t have. So prospective homeowners tend to lie on loan applications, in
order to live beyond their means, and purchase homes that are far too expensive for their actual
financial situation. Appraisers and realtors had a hand in determining the price of these homes,
often doing so in an unorthodox fashion. Appraisers used false advertisement or rather false
estimation in calculating the value of these homes, resulting in gross inaccuracies. Realtors upheld
their friends by listing these homes at their

Meditation Argumentative Essay
The many improvements in a person s life that can be experienced through meditation are
wonderful. The world can seem so fast paced and hectic that even a few minutes a few times a
day can make a big difference. The calming and soothing relaxation of a guided meditation can
help people survive beyond the harder times life often has to offer. A good meditationguide is where
a beginner should start when entering into meditation.
Meditation has often been linked with spirituality and religion. Used by yoga practitioners as well
as Buddhists, it is also found in Christianity and Catholicism in the form of quiet prayer and inner
contemplation. However, meditation can also work in other fields, such as health care and

Even if only taken a few minutes at a time, and only once or twice a day, a person will open
themselves up to living without stress and turmoil. It has been said that the blood chemistry of a
person undergoing guide meditation is different than that of someone experiencing stress.
Meditation allows this calming change to eventually affect other parts of daily life without having
to meditate, so long as meditation itself is practiced on a regular basis.
To begin properly using meditation in one s life, start by creating a list of goals. These should be
things one is willing to accomplish and interested in achieving. Meditation has been able to help
people recover from addictions, deal with chronic pain and long term diseases, and experience
serenity. Whether one is seeking peace or to achieve something, have the list of goals clear in your
mind.
Once a set list of goals is in place, find a good spot within the home to meditate. It s important
that this place be comfortable to sit in and spend time in, a welcoming place. It s also important
that this meditative space be free from regular interruptions. Consider a spot away from the front
door and telephone, the bathroom and kitchen. Make sure it s a place you ll want to come to a few

Leblanc Orders The T-Shirts
Step 2: What are the ethical issues involved? If LeBlanc orders the t shirts from China she knows
that it has low wages, rigorous work schedules, poor safety regulations, and a lack of worker s
compensation and benefits for its employees. After all, she had witnessed firsthand similar
conditions when she visited a Bulgarian clothing factory while with the University of Virginia.
She also had to think about the global recession, and how it would make the company look by
outsourcing for cheaper t shirts instead of supporting U.S. companies. However, if she orders
the t shirts from the San Francisco company, which she had worked with in the past, she knows
good working conditions exist for the employees there. Also, even though the t shirts were more
expensive they were made of good quality, fair trade, organic, and eco friendly. Step 3: Who are
the stakeholders impacted by the situation? Stakeholders impacted by this situation would
involve CEO, clients, LeBlanc, business image, and the China and San Francisco companies.
The CEO is impacted because if LeBlanc fails, it will reflect on the decision making of the CEO
in giving such an important project to an intern. Also, the clients, because if LeBlanc makes the
decision to go with the China company the t shirts will not be of as good quality, and stylish as
from the San Francisco company. LeBlanc is also impacted because her grade, and her reputation
is on the line. If she decides to order from the China company

Anyone Lived In A Pretty Town Analysis
Cummings casual and vernacular punctuation and repetition in [anyone lived in a pretty town]
narrows the gap between himself and the readers by conveying his message more authentically. He
applied plenty of parentheses into his poem and relies heavily on enjambment while two complete
sentences and seven parentheses appeared. Authors often use parentheses to make comment and
emphasize a point, so in Cummings casual, he adds a large amount of comments to his content. As
an illustration, he writes, anyone lived in a pretty how town / (with up so floating many bells
down) , and the content in the parentheses comments to the previous line saying that life and death
occurs all the time in this town. Moreover, many alternated repetition, those

The Teaching of the Roman Catholic Church and Their Influence on People s Views on Abortion
The R.C Church teaches that all human life is sacred. The word sacred means devoted or help
especially acceptable to a deity. Both the old and new testaments teach that human life is sacred
and should not be terminated. God created life in his image and each one of us is like him. To kill
a human being is like killing a part of god and this has greatly influenced the teachings of the R.C
Church about abortion.
Human life must not be violated and in abortion we are doing exactly that. The scriptures tell us

The R.C Church states in the declaration on procured abortion 1974 that respect for human life is
not just the Christian duty respect for life is integral to the stability of the human race . The church
teaches … never under any excuse may abortion be resorted to either by family or by the
political authority as means of regulating birth
Gaudium et spes (the document of Vatican II) states life must be protected with the utmost care
from the moment of conception; abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes.
The churches teachings are clear; abortion is the direct and intentional killing of an unborn child .
From the moment of conception a potential human being exists this sacredness of life is developed
by the church in her documents Humanae Vitae by Paul VI and Familiaris Consortio. It is clear
from the above teachings which originates in the pages of both the old and new testaments that the

flowers more exquisite or what process relation the flower has with the pollinator. In the Southern
region of Texas there s nothing but cactus; sometimes on the cactus you can see some pink, red,
orange, and yellow blooming on the cactus! First time people see that, it s a little shocking because
how would an organism feed off it, when there are thorns connected to the cactus. Lucky for the
cactus there are many different organisms who are attracted to them due to the complementary
colors and them pollinating for the Prickly Pear cactus but there is a special one, the south texas

In order for the attraction of color to happen they will usually have solid colors or a pattern with
ultraviolet shades, because the hummingbirds can see a greater color spectrum compared to
humans. The most popular hummingbird flowers often have a funnel like shape that helps nectar

The hummingbirds are attracted to flowers with a light scent and not a very strong odor because
it attracts too many insects and other organisms. The bird loves if the position of the flower is

advantage of the blooming time because in the morning the plants open up more and a much

The Effects Of Oppression In The Souls Of Black Masks
The dynamic of oppressor and oppressed has been an issue for centuries, and a topic that has
been written about for just as long. Many different authors offer insights into the physical and
psychological damages this dynamic can have on both parties. Solutions are often offered in
regards to what would be the most effective way to combat or cope against this type of social
hierarchy. However, due to the passing of history and the continuation these degrading
dynamics, many of these solutions can be deemed as too hopeful, too passive, or simply
unachievable. Throughout The Souls of Black Folk by W.E.B DuBois, Black Skin, White
Masks by Frantz Fanon, and For Two Thousand Years by Mihail Sebastian the issues and
dynamics of oppression are addressed, and different coping methods and solutions are critiqued
or praised, however all three novels mistakenly offer solutions that reject the idea of
accountability on the oppressor s behalf. The understanding of this mistake can be seen in some
of the authors later ideology shift towards a more radical state of mind in regards to the issue. In
The Souls of Black Folk, one of the first consequences of oppression that DuBois sees as having
lasting psychological effects on the black man/woman is the concept of the veil . This veil is a
shadow that casts over the black man s life that forces him to view himself from the degrading
perspective of white society, It is a peculiar sensation, this double consciousness, this sense of

Nietzsche Madman Allegory In The Gay Science
An Analysis of Nietzsche s Madman Allegory in The Gay Science Nietzsche s madman allegory
represents the current moral situation of society during his time a growing belief that God does
not exist, a movement away from religious values. Nietzsche does not mean literally that God
has been murdered, but because mankind created God, we also have the ability to kill God. In
Nietzsche s point of view, mankind created God by also creating a belief in God. By saying that
mankind murdered God, Nietzsche is proposing that we no longer believe in Him. With the
grounding that religion provided in the past, Nietzsche fears that mankind will be left without
purpose and virtues to lead them to do the correct thing. The light, in Nietzsche s allegory is
belief in God; for this paper, light is a focus because of the implications that follow when there is
none. With no light, everything previously known about moral beliefs and the world is overturned.
Nietzsche proposes that instead of God guiding people (because people no longer believe in Him),
people can follow their own virtues, such as courage, faith in oneself, and patience for the future.
Nietzsche sets the scene for the current moral situation of society in the beginning of his allegory:
the madman in the bright morning lit a lantern and ran around the marketplace crying incessantly, I
m looking for God! (В§125). The madman is distressed because many fundamental beliefs of

Task Force For Gifted And Talented Education
Today s society is governed by one simple mantra: we all have our gifts. While this is a relatively
vague saying, there is one concrete definition of giftedness that is seemingly undeniable, and that is
the intellectual giftedness of young children. As elucidated by the Federal Government, the term
gifted and talented, when used with respect to students, children, or youth, means students,
children, or youth who give evidence of high achievement capability in such areas as intellectual,
creative, artistic, or leadership capacity, or in specific academic fields, and who need services or
activities not ordinarily provided by the school in order to fully develop those capabilities (Title IX,

learning ability. This then results in the student s frustration with his inability to grasp new
material, and with the routine, repetitive nature of daily life (Farmer). These feelings can persist

  • 2. sterilization Essay The only way to ensure that sterilization has occurred is to use the biological monitoring methods. This is because these are the only tests done which show whether or not actual microbial life has been killed. Biological methods are the only ones which are recommended by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), the AAMI (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation), the AMA (American Medical Association), OSHA, and OSAP (Office Safety and Asepsis Procedures Foundation) Biological monitoring is basically evaluating a sterilization process by rendering highly resistant bacterial spores biologically inert. The highly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After exposure they are incubated along with an unexposed or control group of spores for the same period of time. If sterilization has occurred the spores which were exposed will not multiply. The control group should grow microorganisms and display a change in color. If this does not occur, then it s spores have been inactivated and the test is invalid. This is because if the control spores were inactivated, it is possible the spores which were exposed also became inactivated prior to sterilization. Every item sterilized in the load with the indicator involved in an invalid test is considered unsterile. This is the case whenever there is an uncertainty about either the indicator of the control. Biological testing should be done often. The CDC recommends one spore strip test per sterilizer per week. The biological indicator should be placed in the center of the largest and most difficult to sterilize pack. The pack should then be placed horizontally in the lower front portion of the of the sterilizer chamber to make the sterilization process as difficult as possible. Testing should be done repeatedly every time a sterilizer is calibrated, repaired, or relocated to make sure the machine is working correctly. It should also be performed whenever a new type of packaging material or tray is used, after training new sterilization personnel, and after any change in sterilizer loading procedures. ... Once they are out of high school and met with reality, they realize that it s hard moving out right after high school. This project has helped me open my eyes to what would happen. Finding a job right after high school in Porterville was a struggle because most jobs require going through college. I also wanted a job that would provide me with enough money to live alone and support how I live, but that was a struggle. Houses were expensive, along with the fact that most well paid jobs required more than I would have been able to offer. After I have researched all of the prices for things such as a house, car, utilities, etc, I discovered that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How Did The Maccabees Influence The Jewish The Jews shifted their allegiance to Alexander and in return Alexander allowed the Jews to observe their own laws, gave them exemption from tribute tax during the Sabbath years. Alexander also encouraged the Jewish people to live in Alexandria, Egypt and gave them privileges reserved for his own Greek people. When Alexander died in 323 B. C., some of his generals divided the empire among themselves: The Ptolemies of Egypt, the Seleucids of Persia and parts of Asia Minor, and the Antigonids of Macedon. (Intertestamental Period New Testament Background, 2001). At first, the Egyptian Ptolemaic Empire controlled the Jews from 320 198 B. C., and then Seleucid (Syrian) Empire, around 198 B. C., acquired control over the Jewish populace. While the Ptolemaic Empire was tolerant of the Jewish culture and religion, the Seleucid Empire was not. The Seleucids made determined efforts to force Hellenism on the Jews. Some accepted it, but most did not (Halley, 2000). The Greek Seleucid, Antiochus, severely punished the unaccepting Jews which eventually provoked the Maccabees (Hasmonean Era) to revolt. By 164 B. C., the Maccabees controlled the area around Jerusalem and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This shows how engrained the Hellenistic culture was and perhaps how it influenced the Apostle Paul, within his Hellenistic Jewish culture, to write as he did (Russell, 1991 2016.). Eddy (2014) confirms the time period of the Hellenistic influences that Russell discusses in his work. Two cultures are residing side by side and a certain amount of melding is expected to take place. While this is true about language, societal practices such as commerce, schooling and language occurring, the Judean religious practices remained true to its tenets. The Jewish community in large retained its customs and culture (Eddy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Transformity Vs Conformity What do these texts suggest about the conflict between pursuing a personal desire and choosing to conform? Support your idea(s) with reference to one or more of the texts presented and to your previous knowledge and/or experience. Sacrifice Praise for Self Success From a young age, children are told to by their parents to Be yourself in all circumstances. They are told that if they stay true to themselves, then they will have true friends, they will be content, and they will be successful. This lesson is taught much, but seldom followed. Most people have the desire to follow their own path, but the motivation is lacking to sacrifice what is expected and therefore, many conform. The texts The Jackhammer Syndrome and The Orchid Thief address this idea, introducing the conflict that there is between conformity and personal fulfillment, suggesting that, to follow one s own desires is the difficult path, but it is the path that leads to true prosperity. For someone to pursue their desires requires them to sacrifice self consciousness of what other people think of the way they re living their life. Living life in order to please others is an extreme waste of potential. In, The Orchid Thief, John Laroche sacrificed his chance to become a surgeon in order to live a more simple life and pursue his countless passions. Laroche was given the nicknames Troublemaker and Crazy White Man , and was often referred to as eccentric. Although often labelled in a negative way, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Battle Of Bull Run. The American Civil War Was Fought The Battle of Bull Run The American Civil War was fought from 1861 to 1865 to determine whether the Union or Confederacy would survive. The fight would take place between the North, called Union states and the South, called Confederate states. The Confederate states wanted to leave the North and South union and stand on their own. The war started on April 12, 1861 when Confederate forces attacked a Union military base at Fort Sumter in South Carolina. The reason the war started at this time was that Abraham Lincoln had just been elected President in 1860. Abraham Lincoln wanted to end slavery but keep the union together. The North had an increase of industry and the South still depended on farming the land. However, the South ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The battle was also known as the Battle of First Manassas. This was the first major battle of the Civil War. Even though the Union Army outnumbered the Confederate Army, the experience of the Confederate Army made the difference and they won that battle. The Confederate reinforcements had time to arrive by railroad because the Union s forces were slow positioning themselves. Even though the Union and Confederate sides had about 18,000 troops in their first battle, they were not trained and they were led poorly. The outcome of this battle was a Confederate victory. The Union forces suffered a disorganized retreat of their troops. Union troops marched from the Federal capital in Washington, D.C. to strike a Confederate force along a small river known as Bull Run. After fighting on the defensive for most of the day, the rebels rallied and were able to break the Union right flank, sending them into a chaotic retreat towards Washington. The Confederate victory gave the South a false confidence and shocked many in the North, who realized the war would not be won as easily as they had hoped. By July 1861, the northern press and the public were eager for the Union Army to make an advance on Richmond, ahead of the planned meeting of the Confederate Congress there on July 20, 1861. Encouraged by early victories of Union troops in western Virginia, and by the war fever spreading through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Charter At Suffolk Speech And Hearing Center The covenant not to compete that Ms. Rice signed as a part of her employment contract at Suffolk Speech and Hearing Center ( Suffolk Speech ) is most likely going to be found enforceable. As found in Technical Aid Corp v. Allen, there is a three prong test to determine whether or not a restrictive covenant is reasonable and therefore enforceable. 591 A.2d 262, 265 66 (N.H. 1991). The first being, is the restriction greater than is necessary to protect the legitimate interests of the employer. Id. Secondly, does the restriction impose an undue hardship on the employee. Id. at 266. And lastly, is the restriction injurious to the public. Id. For the purposes of this memo, only the first two elements will be analyzed as the third has already been found to be a non issue. Because the covenant that Ms. Rice signed at the start of her employment at Suffolk Speech was reasonable in that it protects Suffolk speech from competition in an appropriate surrounding area that does not pose an undue hardship, it will be very difficult for the court to deem the covenant unenforceable. The first issue that must go satisfied or unsatisfied is whether or not the restriction from the covenant not to compete was greater than necessary to protect to legitimate interests of Suffolk Speech. Id. The court must evaluate a few things when determining whether this element is satisfied or not. Important factors to determine if the restriction is greater than necessary includes the size of the company, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Chretien De Troyes s Romances The romance genre is centered around many themes, the most famous being love. The protagonist is almost always the one character that is receiving love or working towards obtaining love. The Romance genre began around the 12th century in Europe. The most famous author of that genre and time was none other than Chretien De Troyes. Troyes is the author of seven poems, four of which were completed by just him. The other three have been worked on and finished by other authors. In this essay the themes from two of his works will be discussed. The works being analyzed are The Knight of the Cart (Lancelot) and The Story of the Grail (Perceval). The first theme being discussed is love. Love would be the most common thing found in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally, the theme of mercy will be explored. In the story The Knight of the Cart, Lancelot gives many characters second chances. Lancelot was quite strong in virtue for he showed many people how merciful he was. One example would be of when Lancelot fought the proud knight and was going to let him go. Yet, the girl on the tawny mule rode up and persuaded Lancelot to give her the proud knight s head and so the knight was killed (lines 2784 2947). Even though the knight met his demise, the situation showed Lancelot s mercy. The knight would have been alive if it were not for the girl coaxing Lancelot to kill him for her. An example from The Story of the Grail, Perceval shows mercy to people also. Perceval fights, wins, and shows mercy to both Anguingueron and Clamadeu. Perceval sends the two men to service the maiden which Kay had slapped in the beginning of the story. The examples from the two stories show that mercy is a common theme. Furthermore, mercy is found alongside of the theme of honor. Both virtues are found in knights in the time period of the romance stories. The themes discussed above are found in both Chreten De Troyes s stories. The themes can also be found in many other romance stories written in the 12th century. • 11. Female Characters In A Lesson Before Dying The fictional town of Bayonne in A Lesson Before Dying is based on a plantation where the author Ernest J. Gaines was born. This novel took place in the late 1940s a time when radical discrimination was a major problem, and the Jim Crow laws validated segregation and discrimination. Although the major personalities are males, there are three femalecharacters that influence the males to solve the difficulties in their life they would usually ignore. Each female character persuades and motivates Jefferson and Grant from running away from their responsibilities. Tante Lou and Miss Emma convince Grant to make Jefferson die like a man and not a hog, and Vivian makes Grant stay in the quarter and not run away from his purpose in his life. One of the first female characters introduced is Miss Emma, Jefferson s godmother. The first description of Miss Emma is in the courtroom where she is described as a heavy set woman weighing approximately two hundred pounds. We know she is a caring woman because while in the courtroom she never got up to use the bathroom or get a glass of water. Even though she may not be strong enough to sway the juries mind or protect Jefferson of the unfair sentencing of death by electrocution. She is strong enough to stay in the courtroom and give the support that Jefferson needs. Everyone by now knew what the outcome would be for Jefferson. Gaines illustrates the reason why Miss Emma and the other blacks were upset was because his defense attorney called ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Red # 40 Dyes In the United States and in most of the world food dyes are exceedingly common. In addition to this, they have been brought into question as being dangerous for human and environmental health. From general observation and knowledge about this topic I knew that Red #40 dye (Allura Red AC) is at the height of this controversy. After some initial research, I discovered more information on Azo dyes, their effect on the environment, as well as wastewater treatment used to decontaminate water containing these dyes. This led to my interest on the topic of Electrochemical Advanced Oxidation Processes (EAOPs) as a fairly recent solution to environmental issues regarding contaminants in water. I was curious to see how these processes work, as well as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is largely because they are relatively cheap and simple to manufacture. Furthermore, they produce vibrant shades of color and are reasonably soluble in water (Liu, Wan, Nan, n.d.). However, these dyes are now manufactured at such a large scale that they bring up numerous health and environmental concerns. In recent years azo dyes, especially Allura Red AC, have been connected to child hyperactivity, which also raises concerns over other potentially toxic effects they can have on living organisms ( FDA Probes Link , 2011). This is only amplified by the fact that azo dyes such as Allura Red AC and Azo Grenadine are also especially recalcitrant to conventional methods of wastewater treatment. Research on this topic led me to an article on electrochemical advanced oxidation processes and their potential as a solution to mineralizing especially recalcitrant compounds in the environment, Decontamination of Wastewaters Containing Synthetic Organic Dyes by Electrochemical Methods: A Review. This led me to pursue the investigation in my extended essay on the topic of electrochemical advanced oxidation processes and the effect they have on azo dyes such as Allura Red AC and Azo Grenadine. In order to evaluate the effect of this process, I made the decision to do a comparison of the two dyes. This led me to the question, How does the effect of electrochemical advanced oxidation processes vary between Allura Red AC and Azo ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Punk is no exception to this, all of the artists in this movie were extremely passionate about what they do and they all used it as some sort of escape, whether it was just to feel young again or to avoid bad neighborhoods and drugs, punk was their escape. The first group they talked out about from Canada, called the Forgotten Rebels, were seen as sort of godfathers of punk and influenced a lot of people around the world. The lead singer of the band talked about how they still have real jobs in Canada aside from being rock stars, and how preforming was a way to escaped that life and feel like kids again. They also did it to entertain themselves and to just have fun with the music and the idea of punk. • 14. Examples Of Peeking Order Theory Peeking Order Theory Based on the finance dictionary, a peeking order theory means an argument that external financial financing transactions, especially those related to poor selection of issues, create a dynamic environment where firms have a priority, or borrow a financial source, when all others are the same. Internally generated funds are the most popular funds, followed by new debt, and debt equity grants. Finally, new equity is the least important source. Order theory assumes that there is no target capital structure. Due to the weak selection, the firm chose internal for external finance. When external funding is needed, firms prefer debt to equity as information related to debt issues is low cost. This theory emphasizes that businesses must comply with hierarchy and internal funding sources if available, and debts are preferred over equity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The static trading theory and pecking order theory are two financial principles that help companies choose their capital structure. Both play the same role in the decision making process depending on the type of capital structure the company wishes to achieve. However, empirically the pecking order theory is most widely used in determining the company s capital structure. Static trading theory is a theory of finance based on the work of economists of Modigliani and Miller. With the theory of static trading, and since corporate debt repayment is a deductible tax and there is less risk involved in taking debt on equity, debt financing is initially cheaper than equity financing. This means that companies can reduce the weighted average cost of capital (WACC) through capital structure with debt on equity. However, increasing the amount of debt also increases the risk to the company, somewhat offsets the WACC decline. There are a variety of animals to choose from to be yours or your family s pet. Nowadays it is rare seeing someone without a pet or hearing someone talk about them not owning a pet. Everywhere you go you see people walking their pet(s), bathing them in their front yard, some have their dogs driving in the front seat with them, etc. Some of the most common pets are dogs, cats, and hamsters. The first kind being dogs. Dogs are great companions. They are intelligent, loyal to their owner, and affectionate. Though, they do need more attention than any other pet. The district court therefore had to cut new paths as it went along; we have the luxury of looking at the case at the end of the trip. From this vantage point, it is clear that treatment of ,Apple s GUIs, whose visual displays are licensed to a great degree and which are a tool for the user to access various functions of a computer in an aesthetically and economically pleasing way, follows naturally from a long line of copyright decisions which recognizes that works cannot be substantially similar where analytic dissection demonstrates that similarities in expression are either authorized, or arise from the use of ,common ideas or their logical extensions. Four Factors of Organizational Success Four factors for organizational success Barney (Ben) Woodard DMGT 600 University of Maryland, University College November 11, 2012 There are numerous ways to achieve organization success. Ask any two business guru their opinions and you will undoubtedly get two unique lists. Successful entrepreneurs covet their secrets of success and business school faculty lecture what the latest texts have written. Defining a check list of do s and don ts may seem like a rather easy task, but the implementation of those ideas is what will truly lead to organizational success. But what is organization success? Continuous Learning / Workforce Development Former CEO of Intel Andrew Grove once said, Success breeds complacency. Complacency breeds failure (1996). It is important for a company to provide its staff with the opportunities to develop and provide new insights into company processes. While in his tenure at Intel, Grove urged executive to allow staff to experiment with new techniques and processes while concurrently performing the production of existing products (Grove, 1996). Acknowledging the importance of creative freedom and invention allows for an improved process to be implemented without a significant reduction in production levels (Sheridan, 2004). Learning enhances people s abilities; it drives creation, workplace competencies and motivates others to do the same (Loon, Lim, Teck, amp; Lai, 2012). A company can develop their staff internally while creating new ideas, updating procedures and processes. Constant improvements do not come automatically. Many different authors offer insights into the physical and psychological damages this dynamic can have on both parties. Solutions are often offered in regards to what would be the most effective way to combat or cope against this type of social hierarchy. However, due to the passing of history and the continuation these degrading dynamics, many of these solutions can be deemed as too hopeful, too passive, or simply unachievable. Throughout The Souls of Black Folk by W.E.B DuBois, Black Skin, White Masks by Frantz Fanon, and For Two Thousand Years by Mihail Sebastian the issues and dynamics of oppression are addressed, and different coping methods and solutions are critiqued or praised, however all three novels mistakenly offer solutions that reject the idea of accountability on the oppressor s behalf. Nietzsche Madman Allegory In The Gay Science An Analysis of Nietzsche s Madman Allegory in The Gay Science Nietzsche s madman allegory represents the current moral situation of society during his time a growing belief that God does not exist, a movement away from religious values. Nietzsche does not mean literally that God has been murdered, but because mankind created God, we also have the ability to kill God. In Nietzsche s point of view, mankind created God by also creating a belief in God. By saying that mankind murdered God, Nietzsche is proposing that we no longer believe in Him. With the grounding that religion provided in the past, Nietzsche fears that mankind will be left without purpose and virtues to lead them to do the correct thing. The light, in Nietzsche s allegory is belief in God; for this paper, light is a focus because of the implications that follow when there is none. With no light, everything previously known about moral beliefs and the world is overturned. Nietzsche proposes that instead of God guiding people (because people no longer believe in Him), people can follow their own virtues, such as courage, faith in oneself, and patience for the future. Nietzsche sets the scene for the current moral situation of society in the beginning of his allegory: the madman in the bright morning lit a lantern and ran around the marketplace crying incessantly, I m looking for God!
