Five wireless technology companies were selected as winners of the Cambridge Wireless Discovering Start-Ups 2011 competition in the UK. The winners were Mindings, Advanced Balance Systems, Blu wireless, Qiqqa, and Proxama. They were chosen from 23 shortlisted companies that pitched their technologies to investors and industry experts. Advanced Balance Systems' product "Walkasins" helps reduce falls risk in seniors by 50% using vibrotactile feedback. The winners each received £2,000 in funding and business support services, and will present at the 2012 Future of Wireless conference.
