In order to meet the increasing pressure to innovate driven by accelerated change in technologies and markets and by intensifying global competition, leading-edge companies need a systematic Strategic Foresight, by which emerging threats as well as future opportunities and potentials are anticipated at an early stage. Besides, an innovation management must be able to transform the detected needs and opportunities to innovate into implementable concepts for technology and product innovations, which includes the ability to handle the fuzzy input in the innovation process.
SPINNER, a worldwide leading company in passive radiofrequency technology, has developed a consistent proceeding, which bridges the gap from fuzzy future factors and strategic requirements to technology and product innovations. The presentation shows how SPINNER’s innovation management spots and evaluates future market demands as well as emerging enabling technologies, how innovation impulses are derived, and how innovation ideas are generated. It also addresses the involved methods and tools and explains how SPINNER’s Innovation Idea Evaluation System INES paves the way from fuzzy ideas to implementable concepts, prioritizing the most valuable ideas and allowing for dynamic steering under fluctuating conditions.

forever “traveling” but never “arriving.” Second, technology has many different
masters. Vendors, trade associations, standards-setting boards, alliance and/or trade
partners, mergers and acquisitions, growth and expansion, strategic directional change,
new technological development, and economic shifts (e.g., price performance, adoption
patterns, and obsolescence) are all continuously influencing where companies want
to go with technology. Third, unexpected roadblocks occur (e.g., the company that
produces the application platform that runs your business declares bankruptcy). If
building and evolving a technology roadmap were easy, it would always be done well.
Why do we need a technology roadmap? IT managers believe that without the
guidance of a roadmap, their companies run the risk of making suboptimal decisions—
technology choices that make sense today but position the company poorly for the

on a defined path, it means that an organization can simply accept this decision and not

Technology supported requirement handling an estimation
Lindorff Group is a leading outsourced receivables management company in Europe, and one of the leading on a global basis. For the past three–four years, they have increasingly adopted agile practices, especially in a large scale project converting and improving an old system written in Powerhouse to new .Net–technology.
The results from adopting agile practices have been mostly positive, however, there were challenging issues related to requirement handling and estimation that needed attention. In 2008, Lindorff joined a project with Symphonical funded by Innovation Norway. The purpose of the project was to develop software for requirements handling, estimation and knowledge management for the Symphonical platform. Symphonical is a flexible web–based collaboration platform, where users can brainstorm, plan, organize and coordinate any process.
This talk presents results from a case study detailing the challenges faced by Lindorff as they simultaneously adopted agile practices and introduced a new system for requirement handling and estimation. According to the respondents of the case study, Lindorff appears to have improved on two of the main points of concern presented in the 2007 study: requirement handling and estimation. Many users report that the introduction of agile methods and the platform Symphonical has improved the quality of important work processes. Furthermore, they report that the introduction of Symphonical has provided a framework for structured discussions regarding individual requirements, which helps maintaining the focus of IT projects. Furthermore, the flexible sharing regime where one can easily share information to external participants improves the effectiveness and efficiency of collaboration with all project contributors.

The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms.
