No. of Hours/ Semester: 80 hours/ semester

entrepreneurial activities in the context of one’s accountability and social
responsibility. Specifically, the course aims to: (1) provide students with a basic
understanding of the mechanisms whereby companies can be made to act in the
best interest of shareholders, other stakeholders, and society as a whole; (2)
provide students with knowledge of general ethical principles as applied to the
special situations of business and the ability to make informed judgments
through case analyses; and (3) equip students with the ability to formulate basic

Activity 1:
(Judge Me as You Wish)
Directions: Write TRUE if the
statement is Correct or
FALSE if the statement is
Incorrect
1. Income of service business is derived
from converting raw materials into
finished goods.
2. Corporations is a business organized
by five or more individuals.
3. A trading or merchandising business is
engaged in selling services to customers
for a
fee.
4. Unlimited liability of all members is
one of the advantages of partnership.
5. Market vendors are engaged in
trading business.
6. The three types of business activities
are sole proprietorship, partnership and
corporation.
7. The board of directors take control of
the cooperation’s activities.
8. Verification of business name with
Securities and Exchange Commission is
required for cooperatives.
9. Single proprietorship’s income is not
taxed.
10. A bank is a manufacturing concern.
1. Income of service business is derived
from converting raw materials into
finished goods.
FALSE. The income of a service business is
not derived from converting raw materials
into finished goods. Service businesses
provide intangible products or services
rather than physical products. They offer
expertise, skills, or labor to meet the needs
of their clients or customers, but they do
not engage in the production of tangible
goods.
2. Corporations is a business organized
by five or more individuals.
TRUE. A corporation is typically organized
by five or more individuals. It is a legal
entity that is separate from its owners,
known as shareholders. It is characterized
by limited liability for its owners and the
ability to issue shares of stock.
3. A trading or merchandising business is
engaged in selling services to customers
for a fee.
FALSE. A trading or merchandising business
is typically engaged in buying and selling
goods, rather than selling services. This
type of business buys products,
merchandise, or goods, and then sells them
to customers at a markup. The primary
source of revenue for trading or
merchandising businesses comes from the
sale of tangible goods.
4. Unlimited liability of all members is
one of the advantages of partnership.
FALSE. Unlimited liability is a disadvantage
of a general partnership, not an advantage.
In a general partnership, each partner is
personally and jointly responsible for the
debts and liabilities of the business. This
means that if the business incurs debts or
legal obligations, the personal assets of
each partner can be used to satisfy those
obligations.
5. Market vendors are engaged in
trading business.
TRUE. Market vendors are often engaged in
trading businesses. Trading businesses
involve the buying and selling of goods for
the purpose of making a profit. Market
vendors typically sell goods directly to
consumers in places like markets, fairs, or
other public spaces.
6. The three types of business activities
are sole proprietorship, partnership and
corporation.
FALSE. The statement is incorrect. The three types of
business activities mentioned (sole proprietorship,
partnership, and corporation) actually refer to different
forms of business ownership or legal structures. Business
activities, on the other hand, generally refer to the various
tasks and processes that a business engages in to produce,
sell, and deliver goods or services. Business activities can
include things like production, marketing, sales, and
financial management.
7. The board of directors take control of
the cooperation’s activities.
TRUE. In a corporation, the board of directors is
responsible for making key decisions and
overseeing the overall management of the
company. The board typically sets the company's
strategic direction, appoints and monitors the
performance of the executive officers (such as
the CEO), and makes major corporate decisions.
The board of directors represents the
shareholders and ensures that the company is
being run in their best interests.
8. Verification of business name with
Securities and Exchange Commission is
required for cooperatives in the
Philippines.
FALSE. Cooperatives in the Philippines are
typically registered with the Cooperative
Development Authority (CDA) rather than the
Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The
CDA is the primary regulatory body overseeing
the registration and regulation of cooperatives in
the Philippines.
9. Single proprietorship’s income is not
taxed.
FALSE. In the Philippines, income generated
by a sole proprietorship is subject to
taxation. Business income, including that of
a sole proprietorship, is generally taxed as
part of the individual owner's personal
income. The tax rates and regulations can
vary, and it's crucial for sole proprietors to
comply with the tax laws in the Philippines.
10. A bank is a manufacturing concern.
False. In the Philippines, as in most countries, a bank is not
considered a manufacturing concern. Banks in the Philippines,
like elsewhere, are financial institutions that provide a range of
financial services such as accepting deposits, granting loans,
facilitating transactions, and offering various financial products.
Manufacturing concerns, on the other hand, are typically involved
in the production of tangible goods through processing raw
materials.
Banks are classified as service-oriented businesses and fall within
the financial services sector rather than the manufacturing sector.

Verification of business name with Securities and Exchange Commission is required for cooperatives. 9. Single proprietorship’s income is not taxed. 10. A bank is a manufacturing concern.
  • 10. 1. Income of service business is derived from converting raw materials into finished goods. FALSE. The income of a service business is not derived from converting raw materials into finished goods. Service businesses provide intangible products or services rather than physical products. They offer expertise, skills, or labor to meet the needs of their clients or customers, but they do not engage in the production of tangible goods.
  • 11. 2. Corporations is a business organized by five or more individuals. TRUE. A corporation is typically organized by five or more individuals. It is a legal entity that is separate from its owners, known as shareholders. It is characterized by limited liability for its owners and the ability to issue shares of stock.
  • 12. 3. A trading or merchandising business is engaged in selling services to customers for a fee. FALSE. A trading or merchandising business is typically engaged in buying and selling goods, rather than selling services. This type of business buys products, merchandise, or goods, and then sells them to customers at a markup. The primary source of revenue for trading or merchandising businesses comes from the sale of tangible goods.
  • 13. 4. Unlimited liability of all members is one of the advantages of partnership. FALSE. Unlimited liability is a disadvantage of a general partnership, not an advantage. In a general partnership, each partner is personally and jointly responsible for the debts and liabilities of the business. This means that if the business incurs debts or legal obligations, the personal assets of each partner can be used to satisfy those obligations.
  • 14. 5. Market vendors are engaged in trading business. TRUE. Market vendors are often engaged in trading businesses. Trading businesses involve the buying and selling of goods for the purpose of making a profit. Market vendors typically sell goods directly to consumers in places like markets, fairs, or other public spaces.
  • 15. 6. The three types of business activities are sole proprietorship, partnership and corporation. FALSE. The statement is incorrect. The three types of business activities mentioned (sole proprietorship, partnership, and corporation) actually refer to different forms of business ownership or legal structures. Business activities, on the other hand, generally refer to the various tasks and processes that a business engages in to produce, sell, and deliver goods or services. Business activities can include things like production, marketing, sales, and financial management.
  • 16. 7. The board of directors take control of the cooperation’s activities. TRUE. In a corporation, the board of directors is responsible for making key decisions and overseeing the overall management of the company. The board typically sets the company's strategic direction, appoints and monitors the performance of the executive officers (such as the CEO), and makes major corporate decisions. The board of directors represents the shareholders and ensures that the company is being run in their best interests.
  • 17. 8. Verification of business name with Securities and Exchange Commission is required for cooperatives in the Philippines. FALSE. Cooperatives in the Philippines are typically registered with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) rather than the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The CDA is the primary regulatory body overseeing the registration and regulation of cooperatives in the Philippines.
  • 18. 9. Single proprietorship’s income is not taxed. FALSE. In the Philippines, income generated by a sole proprietorship is subject to taxation. Business income, including that of a sole proprietorship, is generally taxed as part of the individual owner's personal income. The tax rates and regulations can vary, and it's crucial for sole proprietors to comply with the tax laws in the Philippines.
  • 19. 10. A bank is a manufacturing concern. False. In the Philippines, as in most countries, a bank is not considered a manufacturing concern. Banks in the Philippines, like elsewhere, are financial institutions that provide a range of financial services such as accepting deposits, granting loans, facilitating transactions, and offering various financial products. Manufacturing concerns, on the other hand, are typically involved in the production of tangible goods through processing raw materials. Banks are classified as service-oriented businesses and fall within the financial services sector rather than the manufacturing sector.
