those caused by stock outs, in the supply chain performance

often in combination that will cause these supply chain

While the devil is generally hidden in the details, as is the

are: Customers, Promotions, Sales, Manufacturing Policies,
Processes, Systems and Suppliers. The “Bullwhip Effect” has in
the past been recognized as normal, and in fact, thought to be a
predictable part of the order-to-delivery cycle. In this paper we

develop a conceptual model on the potential barriers in the implementation of supply chain flexibility in small-scale
industries. The model suggests that supply chain flexibility can be researched using a three-tier approach:
identification of risks, identification of potential barriers emerging from these risks, identification of bridges to these
barriers. The proposed is based on the view of problems of small-scale industries as well as the limited research on
supply chain flexibility. The studies indicated that the three main barriers to flexibility in supply chains are
improper integration between systems, Supply Chain Function cost and quickening pace of product innovation.
Some ways to overcome these barriers and act as bridges are also summarized. The field of study of supply chain
flexibility presents numerous options for fresh research work.
What Drives Inventory Effectiveness in a Market-Driven World? Lora Cecere
Survey Details: The research for this report was conducted from February 12 - October 8, 2015. Surveys were conducted among Manufacturers, Retailers, and Wholesalers/Distributors/Co-operatives with $250M+ in revenue and who use (and are familiar with) inventory optimization software (n=64). Respondents were evenly split between those using basic (ERP or ERP+APS) and advanced (software in addition to ERP/APS) software. All surveys were conducted by Supply Chain Insights.
Objective: To understand the impact of inventory optimization software on supply chain excellence. NOTE: inventory optimization software was defined as "any form of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), APS (Advanced Planned Software), or sophisticated inventory planning tools."
Highlight: Companies who use advanced software are more likely to be satisfied with their software, to be effective at making inventory decisions and to drive a return on investment for their software.

Responsive supply chain: sensitive to customer requirementsHarender Singh
A responsive supply chain is one that is designed to be sensitive to customer requirements, market changes, and other external factors that can impact the demand for a product or service. This type of supply chain is designed to quickly adapt to changes in demand, which allows businesses to better meet the needs of their customers and stay competitive in their industry.
To create a responsive supply chain, businesses need to implement several key strategies. These include:
Building strong relationships with suppliers: A responsive supply chain relies on a network of reliable suppliers that can quickly adapt to changes in demand. Businesses need to build strong relationships with these suppliers to ensure that they can quickly deliver the materials and products needed to meet customer demand.
Using real-time data and analytics: To be responsive, businesses need to have real-time data on customer demand, inventory levels, and other key factors that impact the supply chain. Using analytics tools can help businesses identify patterns and trends that can inform decisions about inventory management, production planning, and other key areas.
Emphasizing flexibility and agility: A responsive supply chain needs to be flexible and agile to quickly adapt to changes in demand. This means having the ability to ramp up production when demand is high and scale back when demand is low.
Leveraging technology: Technology can play a key role in creating a responsive supply chain. For example, using automation and robotics can help businesses streamline production and reduce lead times, while cloud-based platforms can provide real-time visibility into the supply chain.
Overall, a responsive supply chain is critical for businesses that want to stay competitive in today's fast-paced and ever-changing marketplace. By implementing the right strategies and leveraging technology, businesses can create a supply chain that is sensitive to customer requirements and able to quickly adapt to changes in demand.

Adani SEBI investigation revealed that the latter had sought information from five foreign jurisdictions concerning the holdings of the firm’s foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) in relation to the alleged violations of the MPS Regulations. Nevertheless, the economic interest of the twelve FPIs based in tax haven jurisdictions still needs to be determined. The Adani Group firms classed these FPIs as public shareholders. According to Hindenburg, FPIs were used to get around regulatory standards.

Question 1: What is Bullwhip Effect and how does it relate to lack of coordination in a supply
chain?
Bullwhip Effect is the phenomenon where a retailer’s orders to their suppliers tend to have a larger
variance than the consumer demand that triggered the orders. This demand distortion propagates
upstream with amplification occurring at each echelon. Three major causes of the Bullwhip Effect:
1. Lead time of information sharing and material
2. Order batching & forecasting error
3. Supply shortages, which also lead to artificial demands.
Oscillating demand magnification upstream in supply chain is shown below:
3. SIOM Simulacrum
Lack of Coordination of information across different tiers leads to ripple effect as shown above. It can
be dealth with real-time information sharing system hence reducing the lead time, controlling the
inventory and finally improving the service level.
4. SIOM Simulacrum
Question 2: What problems result if each stage of a supply chain views its demand as the orders
placed by the downstream stage? How should firms within a supply chain communicate to
facilitate coordination?
If demand is taken as the order placed, then downstream stage had to rely on the sales orders from
stage above to product forecasts, plan capacity, control inventory, and schedule production. Big
variations in demand will be a major problem, leads to bullw
bullwhip’s effect.
The common inefficiencies in this supply chain are mentioned in below figure.

Question 3: How is the building of strategic partnerships and trust valuable within a supply
chain?
Successful supply chain performance is based on a high level of trust and robust partnership
strategies.
Strategic Partnership aims for synergy among partners based on trust with a belief that benefits
from alliance would be more productive than an individual unit.
It provides:
• Reduced conflict between partners.
• On-time delivery
• Greater consistency in parts, supplies, semi-assembled, and completed products
• Effective information sharing among partners resulting in better knowledge for accurate
forecasts
Characteristics
8. SIOM Simulacrum
Trust among partners is an essential requirement for a successful Supply Chain.
Firms within a supply chain environment need to share resources and information with partners by
building trust for a successful Supply Chain.

Question 4: What are the different CPFR scenarios and how do they benefit the supply chain
partners?
Collaborative Planning, Forecasting, and Replenishment is a business process model whereby supply
chain trading partners can jointly plan key supply chain acidities from production and delivery of raw
materials to production and delivery of final products to end customers. The latest version of the
CPFR guidelines is an interactive cycle of four main activities, so called Collaboration Activities as
shown in below diagram.
10. SIOM Simulacrum
The CPFR reference model is designed to fit many scenarios. Any individual CPFR program must adapt
the model to the particular needs of the trading relationship
We can select multiple scenarios from above table according to adaptability and industry.
