Former President of India APJ Abdul Kalam passed away on July 27, 2015 in Shillong, Meghalaya. He collapsed and died during a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management Shillong. Kalam served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007 and was widely popular as India's 'Missile Man' for his work on the development of ballistic missile and space technology. He made significant contributions to the development of science and technology in India and was greatly respected for his work on developing India's nuclear weapons program as well as his advocacy of peace and non-violence.
