Bucket List Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of a "Bucket List" may seem deceptively simple at first glance,
as the topic invites personal reflections and dreams. However, delving into the intricacies of one's
aspirations and desires can be a more challenging endeavor than anticipated. The difficulty lies
not only in articulating the items on the bucket list but also in weaving a narrative that engages
the reader on a deeper level.
To begin with, constructing a compelling introduction demands a delicate balance between
capturing the reader's attention and subtly introducing the concept of a bucket list. The challenge
here is to set the tone for a reflective and insightful essay without being overly clichГ© or
predictable. A unique and captivating opening can be elusive, requiring a nuanced approach to
avoid falling into the trap of generic storytelling.
Moving on to the body of the essay, the task becomes more intricate. Each item on the bucket
list needs to be explored with sufficient depth, providing anecdotes or personal experiences that
breathe life into the narrative. This requires a delicate dance between self-disclosure and
maintaining the reader's interest, as oversharing may lead to disengagement while being too
reserved may result in a lack of connection.
Moreover, transitioning between different items on the bucket list demands a coherent and
seamless flow. Without a well-thought-out structure, the essay risks becoming disjointed and
difficult to follow. Striking a balance between variety and cohesion in content is a perpetual
challenge that demands meticulous planning and editing.
Furthermore, the conclusion poses its own set of challenges. Crafting a memorable and impactful
ending that leaves a lasting impression requires a careful consideration of the overarching theme
and purpose of the essay. Summing up the journey without resorting to clichГ©s or abrupt
closures can be an intricate task, necessitating a keen awareness of the emotional resonance the
conclusion should evoke.
In conclusion, while the topic of a "Bucket List Essay" may seem straightforward, the intricacies
of translating personal aspirations into a coherent and engaging narrative present a considerable
challenge. Success in this endeavor hinges on the writer's ability to balance introspection,
storytelling, and structural finesse. However, for those seeking assistance in navigating this
challenge, it's worth noting that similar essays and much more can be ordered on

Social Issues On Immigration
Issues on Immigration There are many issues that come with immigration and the
ways of lives that come with it. The political effects, social effects, and economic
effects are what causes these issues. As immigration settled they had to limit the
amount of immigrants coming into the United States. They passed two laws the
Chinese Exclusion Act and State Tenement House Act. The State Tenement House
Act helped new buildings to have better ventilation and running water. This benefited
the immigrants. However, the Chinese Exclusion Act banned Chinese people from
immigrating to the United Statesfor ten years. They did this because about 105,000
Chinese people were living in America and Americans felt threatened by their work.

The Concincing Character Develpoment in Nora Helmer of

Tennessee Williams and Henrik Ibsen both beautifully illustrate their characters in
their plays. Although characters Nora Helmer of A Doll s House and Laura
Wingfield of The Glass Menagerie are incredibly different, the authors used very
similar techniques of creating them as convincing characters. Nora and Laura both
undergo convincing character development with specific motivations behind their
actions. Williams and Ibsen also use direct and indirect characterization to further
develop Nora and Laura. Without such qualities, the characters would fall short of
being memorable. Laura is a static character, like every other character in The Glass
Menagerie. From beginning to end, she is described as terribly shy by two people

Unlike Laura, Nora is developed as a very round character through the use of
indirect presentation. Over time, Nora builds up the confidence to leave her
husband, who treats her like a plaything, a doll. Little things built up to make her
marriage unhappy. In the beginning, Nora seems a bit ditzy, even a bit
unintelligent, and not much of an intriguing character at all. She allows her
husband to call her ridiculous things like his sulky squirrel or little lark and doesn
t seem the tiniest bit offended by it. She also seemed childish when her husband
refused to give her spending money but exclaims, Money! when Helmer says
Nora, guess what I have here. It s like offering a little child a small present like
candy to lift their spirits a little. And she poses to be a little scatterbrained when
she couldn t help but be a little prideful and slightly insensitive while talking to
Mrs. Linde, who had almost nothing and was pretty miserable. At first she realized
what she was doing and said Oh, but thoughtless me, to sit here, chattering away.
Sweet, good Kristine, can you forgive me? but reverts back to doing so. Although
Mrs. Linde insisted No, no, no, tell me about yourself, it seemed like she was saying
that out of politeness as Mrs. Linde doesn t seem like the kind of person to sit there
and spill out all of her pains and sorrows. However, the ditzy side of Nora is really
only skin deep. She is truly a round character. It can be seen that she is willing

Essay on Everyday Life in Puerto Rico
Everyday Life in Puerto Rico
The commonwealth of Puerto Rico (Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico), known
to most Americans as simply Puerto Rico, exists as one of two territories owned by
the United States1. Being a territory of the United States, Puerto Ricans possess
common citizenship, currency, and defense. However, even though Puerto Ricans are
United States citizens they do not pay any kind of federal income taxes. Therefore,
they cannot vote in presidential elections. Puerto Rico is under the jurisdiction of the
United States customs, and are allowed free movement of people and merchandise
with the United States. They have established their own constitution, and have a
greater amount of independence than possessions. Although ... Show more content on

In fact, the racial composition of Puerto Rico is 80% white and 20% black. In earlier
times, slaves, imported from Africa and other ethnic groups, were brought to work on
plantations, and introduced this racial diversity. Slavery, started in Puerto Rico by the
Spanish, forced the island into becoming a large agricultural area. Some of the
agriculture that still exists includes sugar production and dairy production. Today
however, most Puerto Ricans hold jobs that are industrial and exist in the
metropolitan areas. Important industries of the island include pharmaceuticals,
electronics, textiles, petrochemical, and processed foods. Tourism has also been an
important source of income for the island2.

Since the last part of the 19th Century, the official language of Puerto Rico has
stirred debate. Until the early 1900 s United States authorities insisted that the
official language should be English, at least for the instruction in schools. Their
reasoning was to produce English speaking students that were enriched in American
culture, in the same way that was conducted by schools in the United States.
However, objection to this policy brought a change in a sense that Spanish overcame
English as the official language in schools. Later, in 1991, the governor of Puerto
Rico, Rafael Hernandez Colon, endorsed a bill that made Spanish the official
speaking language of the
Still I Rise By Maya Angelou
Introduction:
Discrimination of people with different religions and races is a theme that is explored
throughout many texts like the Still I Rise Poetry from Maya Angelou, The
Dollhouse short story by Katherine Mansfield, The movie Gran Torino directed by
Clint Eastwood, and the Documentary film Born into Brothels by Zana Briski and
Ross Kauffman.
First Text:
A poem that conveys the theme discrimination is Still I Rise by Maya Angelou. Maya
Angelou helps the reader see the struggle and feel what the black society had been
treated like, and how the black society came together as a form of unity and strength
as they were being treated like dirt. The theme discrimination is evident through the

Dead silence. But instead of answering, Lil only gave her silly, shamefaced smile.
She didn t seem to mind the question at all. What a sell for Lena! The girls began to

Lena couldn t stand that. She put her hands on her hips; she shot forward. Yah, yer

games of who had the guts to ask the kelveys this question knowing so sure that ll

Brothels where if you were born into the brothels you were judged to be poor and
there was a lot of poverty there, so the outsiders would discourage those who were
born into the brothels and would make nothing of them, which meant they had no
future, so those who were born into brothel had believed this and followed what
they were saying. Mothers and fathers of kids that Zana helped out were so
brainwashed that when Zana would ask for permission if their kids could go to a
workshop, some said no, they didn t believe anything good could come from their
kids, a grandmother didn t want her granddaughter to go because
The Future of Globalization
The Future of Globalization
What exactly is globalisation?
Before I talk about the future of globalization it is first of all important to
understand what it truly means. From my research on the topic I feel that the
following definition by the IMF is the most accurate. They describe globalization as
the growing economic interdependence of countries worldwide through the
increasing volume and a variety of cross border transactions in goods and services
and of international capital flows and also through the more rapid and widespread
diffusion of technology . Thomas Freeman, author of The Lexus and the Olive Tree
describes Globalization as the inexorable integration of markets, nation states and
technologies to a degree never witnessed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

History of Globalization
If we want to fully understand the importance of globalization and its effects on the
world s economy and society now and its potential for the future, it is vital that we
study its past and how it has originated. The history of Globalization is broad and
diverse therefore it is only possible to outline some of the main areas. Globalization
isn t just a modern day phenomenon. Trading activities date from the very earliest of
civilizations, but it was the Middle Ages in Europe that initiated systematic cross
border trading operations carried out by institutions of a private corporate nature. By
the end of the 14th century it is estimated that there were as many as 150 Italian
banking companies already operating multinationally. (Dunning, 1993) This is not
exactly globalization, it is however international trade. International trade is one of
the main concepts behind globalization. Many authors feel that globalization has
taken place in three waves. The first wave started in the late 1800s and lasted until
the start of the 1900s. It was caused by a combination of falling transport costs and a
reduction in tariff barriers. This opened up the possibility of using abundant land
countries (Argentina, US, Australia and New Zealand). People immigrated to these
countries and capital was invested in manufacturing in these countries. (World Bank,
2000) The

Chris s journey is for people to never get too ignorant or too confident because
anything can go wrong at anytime. First, Chris s arrogance and ignorance is showed

Furthermore, another example is when Chris s former co worker at McDonalds
talks about Chris s time as an employee when he says, He always worked at the
same slow pace, even during the lunch rush, no matter how much you got on him
(40). This quote describes Chris s work ethic while he worked at McDonalds,
which is very surprising considering past reviews about him. However, he did not
work very hard and did not to seem to care one bit about his job at McDonalds
because his focus was all on Alaska. Chris s arrogance is shown in this quote
because he has given up on society. He just doesn t care anymore and all he wants
to do is go to Alaska. He is completely ignoring the fact that people are living normal
lives and that not everything is about his adventure. Also, Chris is being very
selfish because people that are actually a part of society who need things, but he is
ignoring everybody that he does not associate with. That works when you are in
the wild with no responsibility but in the real world, Chris needed have a sense of
urgency. He was ignorant toward society because he does not think and function
like everyone else that he was around. Since Chris didn t fit into society he decided
to run away from everything. Krakauer message is present because Chris couldn t
fit into society because he can t handle responsibility. He could not fit into society
and Chris was so ignorant toward society, so he just left the whole thing behind to go
start a new life.

The Creation Of The British Colonial Empire
The creation of the British colonial empire was one of the great facts of history. For
the Empire, Britain took a larger share than any other nation in developing the
movement of people between continents; it also has changed the expansion of
Whites, Blacks and Indians. By exporting outside its borders, together with its
colonists, civilization, language, and institutions, it contributed mightily to the vast
movement of Westernization of the world. Many historians debate on how the
empire began. In general, they say it started in the early 12th century when the
Normans moved into Ireland. The empire was huge and vast, which brought a lot of
changes in many parts of the world. Today, many people of the world live the way
they do because of the impact of the British Empire. An important aspect about the
British is how the imperialism marked the international system in many countries.
The First Empire was during 1583 to 1783 and the Second Empire was during 1783 to
1815. This research assignment will approach mainly on what occurred during the
19th century, identified as the Imperial Century. During this century, Britain
dominated every field where there is human activity. Some of the reasons behind the
establishment of the Empire were mostly economic reasons, national prestige and the
release from national conditions.
Why did Britain want to build an Empire? Firstly, one of the main reasons is the
resources found in the overseas colonies who offered cheap natural possessions.
Aristotelean Appeals In Julius Caesar s Speech
In Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, a young man named Mark Antony gave a
speech to the crowd of Romans directly after Julius Caesar s assassination. He is
disheartened in having to be the one to deliver the tragic news to the crowd, yet he
is very persuasive in how he presents his speech. The whole crowd is distraught and
confused about why Caesar was murdered, so Antony s words give them some
closure. The whole audience look up to Caesar as a leader and a role model who
shows them no weakness. Antony gains their support and loyalty since he moved
them with his strong and impressionable words. Antony wanted to inform the
people of why Caesar was killed and he used his speech to convince the people to
avenge him, but to be open to a new leader. He used a passive aggressive tone
towards the conspirators who participated in murdering Caesar. The whole point
was to express his love for Caesar and all the good he has done, but also to open up
the hearts of the Romans to having a new ruler to guide them. Antony succeeded
in having the crowd of loyal followers feel sympathy towards Caesar and enmity
towards Caesar s deceivers. Aristotelean appeals are very important to having a
successful speech, and using the emotions and thoughts of your audience to your
advantage. Pathos is one of the most important aristotelean appeals. It brings a
very emotional aspect to the speech and it creates immediate results. It pulls on the
audience s emotions making them more vulnerable and attentive to the message of
the speech. Antony incorporates pathos a lot throughout his speech. He said,
When the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept (3.2), which is a very important line,
because he is showing the sadness of the poor and the sympathy of Caesar. The
people knowing that their great and powerful leader is not stone cold and had a
very kind soul makes them feel many strong emotions. Antony then says, My heart
is in the coffin there with Caesar (3.2). He is proving how much he cared for
Caesar, and how when Caesar died, a part of him died as well. Antony needed the
audience to trust and believe him, so he used an ethos appeal throughout his speech
to show his credibility. He addressed Caesar as ...my friend, faithful and just to

The Story Behind The War
The Story Behind the War
By
Tiana Thibeault
Traditionally, students have been taught that differences between northern and
southern economies caused the Civil War. The industrial revolution in the North,
during the first few decades of the 19th century, brought about an economy that
revolved around a machine age which relied on wage laborers, not slaves. At the same
time, the warmer Southern states continued to rely on slaves for their farming
economy and cotton production. Southerners made huge profits from cotton and
slaves and fought a war to maintain them. Northerners did not need slaves to establish
or maintain their economy and fought a war to free them. Everything else, we are led
to believe, was tied to that economic difference that was focused on cotton.
The economy which was tied to agriculture was certainly one cause of the Civil
War, but not the only one. Wars are never simple and neither are their causes.
Research shows there are other factors that helped bring about the war which are
central to a deeper understanding of America s past.
So what did start the Civil War a war that divided the nation, destroyed crops, cities,
and railroad lines, and claimed 630,000 lives? Many factors threw the nation into
chaos in 1861. Key political issues at the time include the slow destruction of the
Whig Party, the founding of the Republican Party, and, most important, the election
of Abraham Lincoln as president in 1860.
Religious opponents to slavery increased in number

evolution, the dreamers turned entrepreneurs are faced with many early choices that

A general partnership is a business entity that is owned by two or more people or
parties and can be formed through implication or formal written agreement
(Johnson, 2015). While married couples can fill jointly on their tax returns, the
IRS does not allow married couples to operate a business as a sole proprietorship
where both parties have a stake in ownership. However, they may operate as a
partnership and fill the business s profits together as a joint return assuming they
meet the filing requirements (Johnson, 2015). Like a sole proprietorship, general
partnerships are easy to create and operate. Likewise, the owners are also help
personally responsible for the debts of the business. Unlike a sole proprietorship, the
general partners split the profits or losses amongst themselves; usually in an equal
distribution (Steingold, 2015). No matter what the split, the partners must report
their share of the profits or losses on their personal tax returns, but they do not have
to pay tax at the entity level (Johnson, 2015). Partnerships are best for businesses that
will be owned and operated by several individuals but still have little risk for personal
liability. (Prior, 2012). While a general partnership has its distinct advantages, there
are other business structures that Harlequin and Brine must consider first.
A limited liability company (LLC) is a business entity where the owners have limited
personal liability for the debts
Dionysian Influence In Gwen Stefani s Rich Girl
I chose to analyze Rich Girl performed by Gwen Stefani. She is one of my favorite
singer. Her rebellion temper and colorful style is capturing along with her
outstanding voice. Stefani was born (1969) in Fullerton, California and begun her
musical carrier at age 17 (Billboard,.2017). I would consider Stefani a performer
with Dionysian influence. Her music has always been passionate and reflecting
her life experiences and views on current issues. Stefani s life could be described
as a rollocoster, ups and downs that provide plenty of inspiration for her music. The
song Rich Girl from the Love. Angel. Music. Baby. Music album, performed by
Gwen Stefani was released in 2004. The song was based on the If I Was a Rich Man

The Movements Of The Trains
The movements of the trains were primarily conducted by night to increase cover up
and prevent detection. The German army limited their scouting and enforced strict
communication discipline during the buildup of their German supply lines and
troops. This included and not withstanding forbidding any scouting in the assault
zones, minimizing combat patrols, and weaponry operations. The German army
utilized the terrain and disguises their techniques to take advantage of the total
preparation which made it difficult to detect German movements for the Americans.
The logistical result of the intense planning resulted in 29 infantry divisions, 12
armored divisions, 1,500 troop trains, 500 supply trains, 1,420 tanks and weapons,

At that time, nearly 60,000 men that were made up of mostly American troops held
their position in the Ardennes forest. The German objective was to break through
the weakly held American position to cross over the River Meuse to secure the
allied supply lines in Antwerp and hold a new German military line and fracture the
alliance. The Germans needed bad weather to be successful and planned on that bad
weather. Hitler used basic weather prediction technology (weather forecast
information) created by German U boats in the Atlantic Ocean by using statistics,
data, and weather conditions to set the date for the attack onto Western front in the
Ardennes region. Hitler s troop movements in the dense forest were undetected and
were a major intelligence failure for the US. This last offensive campaign offered
wonder weapons that were used in the beginning of the battle to which included the
King Tiger tanks, V1 and V2 rockets, jet airplanes, MP 44 riffle (light weight and

Limited access on travel within this dense terrain for both troop equipment, 65 ton
tank limited mobility, typical newest technology startup problems, and young and
inexperience troops created huge problems to
Symbolism In The Mending Wall By Robert Frost
What Is The Mending Wall ? Robert Frost s poem Mending Wall is a poem that
was written without proper form and has no stanzas/rhyme to it; this was done
purposely by the author to make the writing sound more conversational and look
more like a common story that a reader can simply apply to his/her own life
circumstances. The poem presents readers with two neighbors and their efforts at
reconstructing a stone wall separating their property every year. Frost uses
metaphoric symbolism in this poem as the wallis used as a metaphor to portray the
idea of a barrier between people and the repairing of the wall as resolving obstacles
and bringing people together. Every spring, two very different men come together
to rebuild a wall destroyed by nature and hunters; however, the speaker begins to
think, what is the purpose of this wall if we have no animals to keep away? Why
do we rebuild a wall every year that not even nature wants? The poem begins to
compare two lifestyles: traditional and logical. While the neighbor truly believes
good fences make good neighbors , the speaker argues that respect and kindness do
rather than a useless wall. The first part of this poem announces the presence of wall
destroyers. Lines 1 4 of the poem immediately introduce readers to something there
is that doesn t love a wall . Frost announces that every year something is destroying
the wall he and his neighbor build. Readers are made to understand that even nature
itself does not like
Essay on The History of Conflict in Ireland
The History of Conflict in Ireland
An American audience may find it difficult to comprehend the sense of history
which is in the Irish conflict. It goes back to the 1920s when the island was
partitioned, and Catholics in Northern Ireland believed that they were on the wrong
side of that border, and believed that they had been done out of their political heritage.
But Protestants have a sense of history which goes back to at least the seventeenth
century, where from the time of the plantation of Ulster at the beginning of the 1600s,
they have had to look to their own resources to ensure that they remained in control in

By the 1920s, the British political establishment decided it was time to get out of
Ireland, militarily, politically, psychologically, but she could not get out of what
became known as Northern Ireland because the Protestant majority there were
convinced that they were British and they represented the majority.
Partition
So, the best deal that Britain could do in 1920 was to partition the island of Ireland,
and make the northeast of Ireland into this new entity called Northern Ireland, and
leave the rest of the country as a separate entity, which was still part of British
jurisdiction but had a great deal more autonomy.
Britain had no real solution other than partition. Britain, I think, would have liked to
have withdrawn from Ireland, because it had been such a cost, such a drain on its
international reputation. But Britain felt it owed allegiance to its kith and kin in the
north of Ireland, the Protestant majority, who considered themselves to be British.
And this Protestant majority said they would fight to maintain the right to be British.
The best solution was a qualified partition, because built into the Government of
Ireland Act was the prospect that at some future date, the island could be united again.
So psychologically,
Personal Narrative-My First Cold War
Everything was quiet, masked by the thick morning mist. We closed in upon our
prey like wolves in a herd of sheep. Our Foggy cover did not last much longer, as
we closed in on the beach, but we needed that victory, like a wolf needs its supper.
Everything was resting on the shoulders of that one moment, the moment we set foot
upon the Turkish shores. That was the moment when we would know if victory could
be seized.
The boats landed, The sound of steel grazing against the wet sand broke the
silence. The locks on the boats broke, and within seconds a once calm, and quiet
setting was transformed into an all out war zone. The first shots were fired, we
were commanded to bare down on the beach head, and dig, until we were safe. We

We knew our reinforcements were to arrive soon, but we had no idea of the Turks
plans. We still had to keep our guard up. Seeing as there was not much turkish
activity we tried to scope out the other groups. I guess I got a bit careless with my
actions, and was shot in the leg. The pain was excruciating, blood oozed out my
trousers, and stained the sand. Still I couldn t get to safe enough cover to be
properly treated, so we had to try our best right there. Like an angel descending from
heaven, our reinforcements had arrived, and a glimmer of hope emerged. From the
frey, allied forces arrived to clear the beaches, and attempt to seize the objective.
Quickly we had pushed the Turks back, but many men still lost their lives.
The tables had turned, but only for a short while. More Turks would arrive, and
our chances of success were slim. My wound was worsening, and I was to be
evacuated shortly. All I could think about was getting out of the atrocity, and
devastation that is war. I was being carried back to the waters to be taken away,
even, though the imminent threat of danger still lurked, my mind was focused
elsewhere. All I could think about was our great sacrifice, the sacrifice of my
brothers, and comrades. I hope our sacrifice was not in

Hippie Counterculture
Flower child, a name that forms in the mind an image of an innocent child, denoted
the youth of the mid 1960s. These youth, otherwise called the hippies, relied not so
much on innocence, but instead sought freedom to distinguish the conformity the
past generations held. Before these youth, the Beats or Beatniks from the Beat
Generation spread throughout the Western Worlds around the 1950s. The Beats
philosophy paralleled that of the hippies, however, their focus centered in the
literature, music, and art. These artists asserted their disappointment with the

bomb and a tank going over some rubble. I think I became hysterical. I screamed
and screamed (Kenniston, 48). The fear and dread of the atomic bomb and
annihilation of the world ensued in the minds of these children Post World War II.
Imagine a child shown a picture of such graphics, with bloodshed and calamity
everywhere; these children had their innocence taken at such a young age that they
were hesitant to cross the door of adulthood. Holden Caufield struggles with his
transition from adolescence to adulthood evident in the 1950s novel Catcher in the
Rye. His inner tension stems from his unsuccessful approach in connecting with
people condensing him into a lonesome character who fosters psychological issues.
His problem, however, arises from the childhood trauma of losing his brother Andy.
This trauma alienates him from the society and also causes him to lose his innocence
at the age of 13. Holden faces two crises: one that persists with the feelings of
loneliness, guilt, anxiety, and misery and the other from the failure of success. The
marks from their childhood haunted them into becoming misfits in society, forming
their own society of the hippies.
Along with the childhood struggles, the hippies stressed being drafted into the
Vietnam War. The hippiecounterculture movement stressed a focus on their
opposition of the Vietnam War in that they

Q2. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages for the idea of single language for all

Developing a single programming language for all programming domains would be
extremely difficult and would require a method of logic unlike anything currently
available because number of domains have different requirements, different
characteristics and criteria. It would also be quite a feat to combine a functional
language with an imperative language since by definition they are nearly opposites.

Loyalty In The Book Of Job
In the book of Job, the faith of God s most devout follower is challenged repeatedly
at the hand of the adversary. These tests of loyalty to God begin with the loss of
many of Job s possessions and family members and end with an affliction of skin
sores. Despite these occurrences and the urging of his wife and friends, Job remains
entirely in reverence to the glory of God. From this text, it is apparent that one s faith
and knowledge has more capability to provide happiness and ability than do material
possessions.
In the beginning of the book, the adversary challenges God s assertion that Job will
continue to both worship and fear God unconditionally, telling God to ...Lay Your
hand upon all that he has, and he will surely blaspheme You to Your face (Job
1:11). The adversary believes that Job s devotion to God stems from all of the
things with which God has endowed him, but God insists that his loyalty is
independent of what he has. God allows the adversary to take away much of the ...

He exclaims, They [the wicked] spend their days in prosperity... (Job 21:13). Job
questions why sinful people are able to live successful, materialistic lives when he,
a man who was blameless and upright (Job 1:1), was unable to maintain his
happiness in life due to what he believes to be acts of God. Job comprehends the
severity of what it is that he has lost but neglects to consider the faith that he has not.
People often focus more intently on that which they lose or that which they think that
they deserve but have not been given rather than on with what they have been

their true blessings and make themselves unhappy. It is not the removal of his
material possessions that made Job unhappy, it is the shift in his focus from what he

Introduction
Harmful algal blooms (HABs) which were once a rarity in marine ecosystems are
now reoccurring events that devastate recreational areas to deep water ecosystems
(Anderson et al., 2016). Specifically for California sea lions (CSLs), HABs through
bioaccumulation lead to domoic acid (DA) poisoning. Domoic Acid is naturally
occurring in algal blooms; however, due to anthropogenic influences and climate
change, the population of algal blooms that contain DA are increasing (Cook et al.,
2016).
With thousands of CSLs and entire marine ecosystems facing the effects of DA
poisoning, veterinary technicians ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Epidemiology:
CSLs showing signs of DA poisoning at the Marine Mammal Center were sedated
and studied using MRI. Neuro radiologists viewed 34 brain scans taken and noted
abnormalities in brain structure. The severity of brain damage took into account the
type of brain damage the mammal was exhibiting: hippocampal atrophy, temporal
horn enlargement, and parahippocampal atrophy, in addition to the severity of each
(Thomas, 2010). From this information, calculations were made to create a brain
damage index (BDI) for CSLs. The study showed 12 had an acute case of DA
poisoning, and 22 had chronic DA poisoning (Thomas, 2010). During a harmful algal
bloom in 2014 near the Monterey Bay region, of all the CSLs that were rescued and
studied, 41% showed signs of having DA poisoning ranging from mild to severe
(Anderson et al., 2016).
Detecting the movement of DA up the food chain is a challenge. Models are
currently used to predict the number of animals affected by DA. These numbers
depend heavily on being able to track and study the animals as they move to
different locations. How long an animal was in an area of HABs and what that
animal ate create a barrier in identifying how many animals have been affected and
to what degree. (Lefebvre et al., 2016)
Clinical Presentation Diagnosis: Most CSLs affected by DA show signs of being
disoriented. They often become stranded on shore and sometimes in

The Three Mile Island Nuclear Disaster
Nuclear fission is a cost effective, and relatively clean way to generate power.
Since, the mid 1940 s, with the formation of the first atomic bombs, engineers have
worked on improving nuclear power. In the 1970 s and 80 s nuclear power plants
were built in cities to provide power for homes, workplaces, and other facets of life.
Nuclear reactions were not well understood by the general public and therefore
nuclear engineers inherited a certain status. Also as a result, nuclear powerplants
raised concerns for many Americans. The chances of a nuclear reactor failure were
very slim, however, the consequences were devastating. Engineers feared that if the
general public knew of the possible consequences that there would be massive
amounts of unnecessary fear. As a result, operators of nuclear reactors were not
informed of procedures to follow in the event of an emergency. On May 28, 1979,

the worst nuclear accident in United States history occurred (Backgrounder...). The

The Artistic Elements Of LaocoпїЅn And His Sons
Laocoön and His Sons Muscles contorting in anguish, fangs brutally piercing the
flesh, faces drowning in suffering. This intense visual is shockingly manifested
through marble in the sculpture Laocoön and His Sons by Hagesandros, Polydoros,
and Athenodoros of Rhodes. This alluring orchestra of artistic elements is the perfect
compilation of technical perfection and emotional expression. The exaggerated
drama of the piece is the style of the Greek s Hellenistic period. All things considered,
Laocoön and His Sons possess both exquisite formal components and content and
has the capability to provide insight into both the culture of the Greeks, as well as the
attitudes of humanity towards its enemies. To commence, the formal composition of
Laocoön and His Sons is enticing. The piece is carved in marblewith a height of
eight feet. The marble white hue of the statue seems to accentuate the intricate
anatomy of the figures. The three males are arranged upon a base. On one of the
far sides of the platform, there resides a pillar style seating with drapery which
dangles off in a waterfall like manner. The central figure, and by far the most
substantial in size, Laocoön, sits at an angular position. This angular posture
generates a dynamic composition. His two sons, Antiphantes and Thymbraeus,
struggle at his side as sea serpents attack all three of the figures. There appear to be
two sea serpents, one that is prominently digging its fangs into Laocoön s pelvis.

THE IMPORTANCE OF A FAMILY
Having a loving family is something that no child should live without. A loving
family helps shape your personality, and also helps instil good decision making in
you. They also act as your support system, when you are going through hard times.
Lastly, they teach you about your heritage and culture, this helps create a sense of

every child should have. This theme is shown through THE FARMING OF BONES

comparable with a lot of male, teenage characters in books, films, and even some of
the characters that are from some short stories that we have read in our last unit.
Conor is even comparable to the main protagonistfrom Artemis Fowl, a more famous
book and series by the author of this book, Eoin Colfer. The characterfrom this book

is credited for making a kite that glided him and Princess Isabella to safety from the

Conor changes a lot through the course of the first quarter of Airman. He goes from a
small baby to an intelligent young man. Artemis also changes throughout the series.
In the beginning, Artemis is more centered on his criminal schemes, but by the last

many ways. One of Trump s slogans had to do with making America great again .
Hugo Bonvilain, also wanted to make the Saltee Islands like they used to be. Both of

Safe Disposal of Insulation Material
There have been various types of Insulating materials used within the electrical power
industry since the beginning of electrical power. And over the years scientist and
environmentalist have discovered that most if not all insulating materials are
harmful to the human body or the environment in one way or another, being shot
term or long term exposures. First of all, the term insulating material refers to a
substance that has the ability to resist electrical energy flow to make a conductor or
copper wire safe to touch by human hands for instance. But all these insulating
materials will break down at a certain limit if the power is strong enough, so this tells
us that there is no such thing as a perfect insulator. This example explained above is
one use for an insulating material within the electrical power industry. Insulators
serve many advanced purposes and conditions. Be it Arc suppression within circuit
breakers or voltage insulation on power lines, or even protective equipment worn by
electrical workers. A majority of these insulating materials have been known to cause
health hazards to humans and environmental hazards to the environment which will
be discussed in a bit more detail further on, and

The Holy Spirit plays a very vital role in the lives of each and every believer; He
can strengthen us with a strength that we cannot even begin to muster up in
ourselves. He can bring us joy that we cannot even begin to find in the things of
this world. He can bring peace to our lives more than anything that we can ever find
on this earth. The Holy Spirit which is primarily an energizing process, is also a
revealing, refining, consuming, illuminating process, and one by which we are made
to glow with love to God, and love to man, and love to souls.
SIGNS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT ON THE DAY OF PENTECOST As we look into
the scriptures of Acts 2:1 11 we see the things that took place on the day of
Pentecost. And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one
accord and in one place. (Acts 1:1) Not only had the people began to gather
together in one place but they were all in one accord and all were there for the
same purpose all agreeing on the same thing. And suddenly there came a sound
from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were
sitting. (Acts 2:2) Imagine sitting in a room when suddenly a rushing mighty wind
fills the room. When we think of the force of hurricane type winds entering the room
in which we are sitting we would not be able to even fathom how it would be.
Consequences Of The Abolitionist Movement
Every US citizen has the right to say what he or she pleases, but that doesn t exclude
the fact that there are consequences for what one says. That is a rule that has been
enforced since the constitution was created. But sometimes, expressing your thoughts
and opinions outweigh the risk of the consequences that another citizen can throw at
you. A belief in a change, that benefits all, outweighs what any consequence can be
thrown at yourself. Throughout history, we have had historic moments of change all
starting from someone expressing how they feel about a situation and/or not caring
about the consequences that could happen to them. This is a right that allows us to
speak freely and openly without a fear of any punishment being handed to us... Show

Women were a core foundation of raising the next generation. The Seneca Falls

Treatment. Patients with celiac disease should adhere to a gluten free diet for life.
Grains with gluten are wheat, barley and rye. There is a question of oats; they appear
to be tolerated by the majority of patients with celiac disease. Other grains could
contaminate oats. Patients should be monitored closely. Patents should be referred to
a dietitian who is knowledgeable about the disease, to receive a nutritional assessment

The National Aeronautics And Space Administration Essay
Since the dawn of time, the human race has gazed up at the stars, in both wonder
and amazement. Curiosity is one of the best traits that humanity possesses. It
serves to drive us forward and seek a more efficient way of using our skills that are
unique to us. We as humans continued to evolve through the millennia, and so too
did our intelligence and understanding of our small world. We began to socialize
and congregate. We formed small tribes near local water sources as we left our
caves. This would spark some of the first cases of conflict among the human race
damning us with a future littered with warfare as we created a society of haves and
have nots as nations and empires rose and fell. This remains true even today, but our
desire to explore and increase our knowledge has never diminished. With that being
said, we must re evaluate the established paradigm that the National Aeronautics and
Space Administration s (NASA) role in the Cold War. NASA did not exist for the
sole purpose to beat the Soviet Union into space and establish a monopoly of
power in space. This was a byproduct. NASA s genesis was a genuine intention to
increase the knowledge of mankind. In many ways NASA can be seen as a
miracle of mankind because it was born out of a state of war, but evolved into an
organization shaped for peace and discovery. By looking at NASA, it is an
exemption from the warlike nature of the Cold War. We can observe this evolution
from its wartime genesis, and its transition

With these conflicting reports it is difficult for a consumer to make an educated

Other than need to expand, what other reasons would Wal Mart have for opening
stores globally?
If there s an objective why the predecessors of Sam Walton (founder of Wal Mart)
decided to go out of its comfort zone in the US is diversity to diversify its market.
This strategy is important because of 12 very important reasons:
This strategy is important because it (1) Reduces risk against poor market
conditions in the US. For example, over the past few months America s corporate
world has lost half of its assets due to poor economy which can be a sign of
recession. In condition like this, many consumers and business will cut down on
spending. The effect of cutting spending can be felt by many organizations,
including big retail giant Wal Mart. The point is that if the Wal Mart invest
everything in to one market, then it would have greater risk should that market
were to perform poorly in years to come. On the other hand, if Wal Mart chooses to
operate globally in to different markets, than the investment is more diversified and
so the risks are far less. Another reason Wal Mart have for operating globally is to (2)
Decrease if not eliminate competitions.
Wal Mart is the biggest retailer in US. However, it is not the largest in other part of
the world. This would mean that there are other companies that are operating in other
part of world which Wal Mart could penetrate that market and gain more market share
. This is important because, if Wal Mart does not penetrate
Music Is A Universal Language
Music is a universal language is such a clichГ© phrase. But there s some truth to it.
You listen to an opera, most of the time is sung in a foreign language, you could not
care much how little you understand the song because the music carries you through
the piece. There has been studies that music can calm a person, makes them agitated,
or even motivated. Other studies states that the musicwe listen to can tell what type of
personality one person has.
My musical preference, though all over the place at times, is mainly focused on
theatrical show tunes. When choosing a song for this essay, I originally chose an
aria from Bernstein s operetta, Candide, which was Glitter and Be Gay. Though I
love the music, it did not speak to me as it is comic operetta song. Ultimately, I chose
something from Stephen Sondheim s catalogue, a song called I m Still Here from the
musical Follies. Though it isn t my favorite song of all time, it evokes the feeling of
survivalism and a sense that you can weather through anything. The more I listen to
this song over time, the more it gets more poignant.
The song I m Still Here came from the musical, Follies, written by Stephen
Sondheim. Though it tells a story of two middle aged couple, coming to the theater
where they all first met and express regret of choices in their lives and their
unhappiness with each other s spouses, many of the songs in the show, especially I m
Still Here , are not consequential to the plot of the musical.
A Good Man Is Hard To Find And Hunters In The Snow
Ours is a violent world where even the most common folk can find themselves faced
with unspeakable horror through little or no intention. In Flannery O Connor s A
Good Man is Hard to Find, the characters find themselves at the mercy of armed men
because of a faulty memory and a few wrong turns. In Tobias Wolffs Hunters in the
Snow, a young manwinds up shooting his friend in an apparent accident which
culminates in a debate between saving that friend or whether it is more important to
preserve the self. The stories work together to explore what humans will do when
faced with terrible violence.
The story A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O Connor is famous for its use of
unexpected violence. An unnamed grandmother ... Show more content on

The car turns over and the accident has left their automobile unable to go further.
The children, seeing their first moment of violence are delighted and are only sad
that no one has died in the collision. Since the kids have never experienced real loss
or real pain before, the experience is one of novelty to them. When aid arrives, it is
ironically in the form of The Misfit. The children s enthusiasm and curiosity about
why their Samaritan carries a gun is nothing. It is the grandmother who is nearly
obsessed with violence who dooms the family. The final moments of the story are
jarring, even more than half a century after they were written. While the family is
taken into the woods and murdered one by one, grandmother sits begging The
Misfit for her life by trying to appeal to his humanity. She asks him to pray and
assures him that she believes that he is a good man at heart. This ploy does not
work. The Misfit sprang back as if a snake had bit him and shot her three times
through the chest. Then he put his gun down on the ground and took off his glasses
and began to clean them (O Connor). It is one thing when you are sitting at a
restaurant discussing what a person might do when faced with a murderer. It is quite
another when the reality comes to you directly which is the point of the story. To
those unacquainted with violence first hand, one can only speculate. To those very
Qualitative And Quantitative Research Design
Research and Program Evaluation
This paper will compare and contrast qualitative and quantitative research designs.
While giving the information, I will also elaborate on the types of research designs
that they both implore. At the end of the paper, the reader will have a better
understanding for qualitative and quantitative research designs and when to use each
type of design.
Qualitative Research Design
Cresswell (2014) states qualitative methods rely on text and image data, have
unique steps in data analysis, and draw on diverse designs (p. 183). Qualitative
research design is a research method used by researchers studying human behaviors
and habits. For example, a counselor generating some ideas for a new inclusion
program might want to study people s behaviors and preferences, to make sure that
the inclusion program might become feasible. Quick and Hall (2011) state The
principal of informed consent ensures that research participants are not coerced or
persuaded into research and that each individual fully understands the implications or
participating (p. 2). This way the individual will know what is going to happen during
the research. A researcher will then use data collection procedures with qualitative
research. Qualitative observation is when the researcher will take field notes about
individuals and their behaviors. Qualitative interviews are the interviews that the
researcher conducts with the participants. The interviews can be face to face, on the

The Relationship Between Museums And First Nations
Peoples...
This paper will attempt to illustrate the relationship between museums and First
Nations peoples in regards to the issue of repatriation. Using the example of the
Haida Gwaii First Nations and their successful and on going campaign towards
repatriation within Canada, this paper will address the discussions and perspectives
of both the anthropologists (archaeologists) and First Nationspeople in the academic
and non academic fields. The division of views on the issue of repatriation are loosely
categorised into three groups: archaeologists, anthropologists and scientists that value
scientific knowledge over the humanity of the remains, the return of ancestors that are
believed by First Nations to have been stolen and stripped of their humanity and
therefore should be returned, and finally the middle ground in which there are
Indigenous academics and non Indigenous academics that strive to return human
remains and in cases where it is not possible, treat them in a more respectful and
culturally sensitive manner. Looking first to the complicated relationship between
First Nations peoples and the institutions that collect ancestral remains (mainly
universities and museums), it is easy to the that this relationship is based on
inequality of power and knowledge. This inequality lays its routes in the colonial
history of anthropology and museums collecting human remains for the betterment of
science and knowledge (Jenkins 2008, 114). The Eighteenth Century Enlightment

American History. On December 8,1941, the U.S. declared war on Japan. Then the
U.S. declared war on Germany and Italy after they did the same to us. This is how
the U.S. got involved in World War II. The attack on Pearl Harbor was a bad day
for United States and there are a lot of people still sad that it had happened. The
morning after the attack on December 8,1941, was a beautiful day until the U.S. was
blindsided. All the men and women on Pearl Harbor were not on alert when the
Japanese came (Anderson). There were a lot of servicemen that were eating and still

Gender Bias In Nursing Care Essay
Introduction When hiring at a workplace, such as a hospital, gender should not be a
discriminate when determining who is suitable for the position. When we look at
labor and delivery floors and maternity nursing, we see that there are more female
nurses employed than male. Due to the fact that more femalenurses work on labor and
delivery than males, we are looking further to find out if there are any specific
reasons or any genderbias contributing to this.
EBP Presentation Topic
Nursing, unlike any other profession, consists of both males and females. Even
though nursing is predominately women, male nurses represent 7% of the nursing
workforce (Budden et. Al., 2013). Since the ratio of female nurses is higher than male
nurses, there is controversy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Population of Interest
The population of interest is nurses that are working on labor and delivery floors in
hospitals. These nurses are both consisting of males and females, but our main focus
is the male nurses staffed on labor and delivery floors.
Intervention
Actively, there are more female nurses than male nurses in the nursing profession.
Most of the nurses that work on a labor and delivery floor are predominately female.
These nurses provide care to meet the needs of their patients no differently than any
other nurses working on another floor. There is currently no evidence containing
information that female nurses in women s health are providing exceptional care
compared to male nurses. (AWHOON, 2016)
Comparison Intervention
Recently, it was concluded that the nursing gender bias against men as nurses on
labor and delivery floors were started when the male nurse was in nursing school.
(Chang et. Al.,2010)
There has been a dramatic increase in enrollment of men in nursing school and due to
this, more male nurses are branching out into specialty areas, such as maternity
nursing. (AWHOON,

Bucket List Essay. Narrative essay: Bucket list college essay

  • 1. Bucket List Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of a "Bucket List" may seem deceptively simple at first glance, as the topic invites personal reflections and dreams. However, delving into the intricacies of one's aspirations and desires can be a more challenging endeavor than anticipated. The difficulty lies not only in articulating the items on the bucket list but also in weaving a narrative that engages the reader on a deeper level. To begin with, constructing a compelling introduction demands a delicate balance between capturing the reader's attention and subtly introducing the concept of a bucket list. The challenge here is to set the tone for a reflective and insightful essay without being overly clichГ© or predictable. A unique and captivating opening can be elusive, requiring a nuanced approach to avoid falling into the trap of generic storytelling. Moving on to the body of the essay, the task becomes more intricate. Each item on the bucket list needs to be explored with sufficient depth, providing anecdotes or personal experiences that breathe life into the narrative. This requires a delicate dance between self-disclosure and maintaining the reader's interest, as oversharing may lead to disengagement while being too reserved may result in a lack of connection. Moreover, transitioning between different items on the bucket list demands a coherent and seamless flow. Without a well-thought-out structure, the essay risks becoming disjointed and difficult to follow. Striking a balance between variety and cohesion in content is a perpetual challenge that demands meticulous planning and editing. Furthermore, the conclusion poses its own set of challenges. Crafting a memorable and impactful ending that leaves a lasting impression requires a careful consideration of the overarching theme and purpose of the essay. Summing up the journey without resorting to clichГ©s or abrupt closures can be an intricate task, necessitating a keen awareness of the emotional resonance the conclusion should evoke. In conclusion, while the topic of a "Bucket List Essay" may seem straightforward, the intricacies of translating personal aspirations into a coherent and engaging narrative present a considerable challenge. Success in this endeavor hinges on the writer's ability to balance introspection, storytelling, and structural finesse. However, for those seeking assistance in navigating this challenge, it's worth noting that similar essays and much more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net, providing a valuable resource for those looking to refine their essay-writing skills or seeking professional guidance. • 2. Social Issues On Immigration Issues on Immigration There are many issues that come with immigration and the ways of lives that come with it. The political effects, social effects, and economic effects are what causes these issues. As immigration settled they had to limit the amount of immigrants coming into the United States. They passed two laws the Chinese Exclusion Act and State Tenement House Act. The State Tenement House Act helped new buildings to have better ventilation and running water. This benefited the immigrants. However, the Chinese Exclusion Act banned Chinese people from immigrating to the United Statesfor ten years. They did this because about 105,000 Chinese people were living in America and Americans felt threatened by their work. These are examples
  • 3. The Concincing Character Develpoment in Nora Helmer of A... Tennessee Williams and Henrik Ibsen both beautifully illustrate their characters in their plays. Although characters Nora Helmer of A Doll s House and Laura Wingfield of The Glass Menagerie are incredibly different, the authors used very similar techniques of creating them as convincing characters. Nora and Laura both undergo convincing character development with specific motivations behind their actions. Williams and Ibsen also use direct and indirect characterization to further develop Nora and Laura. Without such qualities, the characters would fall short of being memorable. Laura is a static character, like every other character in The Glass Menagerie. From beginning to end, she is described as terribly shy by two people Tom and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unlike Laura, Nora is developed as a very round character through the use of indirect presentation. Over time, Nora builds up the confidence to leave her husband, who treats her like a plaything, a doll. Little things built up to make her marriage unhappy. In the beginning, Nora seems a bit ditzy, even a bit unintelligent, and not much of an intriguing character at all. She allows her husband to call her ridiculous things like his sulky squirrel or little lark and doesn t seem the tiniest bit offended by it. She also seemed childish when her husband refused to give her spending money but exclaims, Money! when Helmer says Nora, guess what I have here. It s like offering a little child a small present like candy to lift their spirits a little. And she poses to be a little scatterbrained when she couldn t help but be a little prideful and slightly insensitive while talking to Mrs. Linde, who had almost nothing and was pretty miserable. At first she realized what she was doing and said Oh, but thoughtless me, to sit here, chattering away. Sweet, good Kristine, can you forgive me? but reverts back to doing so. Although Mrs. Linde insisted No, no, no, tell me about yourself, it seemed like she was saying that out of politeness as Mrs. Linde doesn t seem like the kind of person to sit there and spill out all of her pains and sorrows. However, the ditzy side of Nora is really only skin deep. She is truly a round character. It can be seen that she is willing

  • 8. Essay on Everyday Life in Puerto Rico Everyday Life in Puerto Rico The commonwealth of Puerto Rico (Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico), known to most Americans as simply Puerto Rico, exists as one of two territories owned by the United States1. Being a territory of the United States, Puerto Ricans possess common citizenship, currency, and defense. However, even though Puerto Ricans are United States citizens they do not pay any kind of federal income taxes. Therefore, they cannot vote in presidential elections. Puerto Rico is under the jurisdiction of the United States customs, and are allowed free movement of people and merchandise with the United States. They have established their own constitution, and have a greater amount of independence than possessions. Although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, the racial composition of Puerto Rico is 80% white and 20% black. In earlier times, slaves, imported from Africa and other ethnic groups, were brought to work on plantations, and introduced this racial diversity. Slavery, started in Puerto Rico by the Spanish, forced the island into becoming a large agricultural area. Some of the agriculture that still exists includes sugar production and dairy production. Today however, most Puerto Ricans hold jobs that are industrial and exist in the metropolitan areas. Important industries of the island include pharmaceuticals, electronics, textiles, petrochemical, and processed foods. Tourism has also been an important source of income for the island2. Puerto Rico Online Business Since the last part of the 19th Century, the official language of Puerto Rico has stirred debate. Until the early 1900 s United States authorities insisted that the official language should be English, at least for the instruction in schools. Their reasoning was to produce English speaking students that were enriched in American culture, in the same way that was conducted by schools in the United States. However, objection to this policy brought a change in a sense that Spanish overcame English as the official language in schools. Later, in 1991, the governor of Puerto Rico, Rafael Hernandez Colon, endorsed a bill that made Spanish the official speaking language of the
  • 9. Still I Rise By Maya Angelou Introduction: Discrimination of people with different religions and races is a theme that is explored throughout many texts like the Still I Rise Poetry from Maya Angelou, The Dollhouse short story by Katherine Mansfield, The movie Gran Torino directed by Clint Eastwood, and the Documentary film Born into Brothels by Zana Briski and Ross Kauffman. First Text: A poem that conveys the theme discrimination is Still I Rise by Maya Angelou. Maya Angelou helps the reader see the struggle and feel what the black society had been treated like, and how the black society came together as a form of unity and strength as they were being treated like dirt. The theme discrimination is evident through the quotes Does my sassiness upset you? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The quote Is it true you re going to be a servant when you grow up, Lil Kelvey? shrilled Lena. Dead silence. But instead of answering, Lil only gave her silly, shamefaced smile. She didn t seem to mind the question at all. What a sell for Lena! The girls began to titter. Lena couldn t stand that. She put her hands on her hips; she shot forward. Yah, yer father s in prison! she hissed, spitefully , the neighbours of the kelveys playing games of who had the guts to ask the kelveys this question knowing so sure that ll hurt the kelveys, but when Lil Kelvey replied the way she did and doing the facial expressions she did, it shocked Lena and her friends, because it didn t face the Kelvey girls at all. • 10. The Future of Globalization The Future of Globalization What exactly is globalisation? Before I talk about the future of globalization it is first of all important to understand what it truly means. From my research on the topic I feel that the following definition by the IMF is the most accurate. They describe globalization as the growing economic interdependence of countries worldwide through the increasing volume and a variety of cross border transactions in goods and services and of international capital flows and also through the more rapid and widespread diffusion of technology . Thomas Freeman, author of The Lexus and the Olive Tree describes Globalization as the inexorable integration of markets, nation states and technologies to a degree never witnessed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Hill, 2007) History of Globalization If we want to fully understand the importance of globalization and its effects on the world s economy and society now and its potential for the future, it is vital that we study its past and how it has originated. The history of Globalization is broad and diverse therefore it is only possible to outline some of the main areas. Globalization isn t just a modern day phenomenon. Trading activities date from the very earliest of civilizations, but it was the Middle Ages in Europe that initiated systematic cross border trading operations carried out by institutions of a private corporate nature. By the end of the 14th century it is estimated that there were as many as 150 Italian banking companies already operating multinationally. (Dunning, 1993) This is not exactly globalization, it is however international trade. International trade is one of the main concepts behind globalization. Many authors feel that globalization has taken place in three waves. The first wave started in the late 1800s and lasted until the start of the 1900s. It was caused by a combination of falling transport costs and a reduction in tariff barriers. This opened up the possibility of using abundant land countries (Argentina, US, Australia and New Zealand). People immigrated to these countries and capital was invested in manufacturing in these countries. (World Bank, 2000) The

  • 13. The Creation Of The British Colonial Empire The creation of the British colonial empire was one of the great facts of history. For the Empire, Britain took a larger share than any other nation in developing the movement of people between continents; it also has changed the expansion of Whites, Blacks and Indians. By exporting outside its borders, together with its colonists, civilization, language, and institutions, it contributed mightily to the vast movement of Westernization of the world. Many historians debate on how the empire began. In general, they say it started in the early 12th century when the Normans moved into Ireland. The empire was huge and vast, which brought a lot of changes in many parts of the world. Today, many people of the world live the way they do because of the impact of the British Empire. An important aspect about the British is how the imperialism marked the international system in many countries. The First Empire was during 1583 to 1783 and the Second Empire was during 1783 to 1815. This research assignment will approach mainly on what occurred during the 19th century, identified as the Imperial Century. During this century, Britain dominated every field where there is human activity. Some of the reasons behind the establishment of the Empire were mostly economic reasons, national prestige and the release from national conditions. Why did Britain want to build an Empire? Firstly, one of the main reasons is the resources found in the overseas colonies who offered cheap natural possessions.
  • 14. Aristotelean Appeals In Julius Caesar s Speech In Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, a young man named Mark Antony gave a speech to the crowd of Romans directly after Julius Caesar s assassination. He is disheartened in having to be the one to deliver the tragic news to the crowd, yet he is very persuasive in how he presents his speech. The whole crowd is distraught and confused about why Caesar was murdered, so Antony s words give them some closure. The whole audience look up to Caesar as a leader and a role model who shows them no weakness. Antony gains their support and loyalty since he moved them with his strong and impressionable words. Antony wanted to inform the people of why Caesar was killed and he used his speech to convince the people to avenge him, but to be open to a new leader. He used a passive aggressive tone towards the conspirators who participated in murdering Caesar. The whole point was to express his love for Caesar and all the good he has done, but also to open up the hearts of the Romans to having a new ruler to guide them. Antony succeeded in having the crowd of loyal followers feel sympathy towards Caesar and enmity towards Caesar s deceivers. Aristotelean appeals are very important to having a successful speech, and using the emotions and thoughts of your audience to your advantage. Pathos is one of the most important aristotelean appeals. It brings a very emotional aspect to the speech and it creates immediate results. It pulls on the audience s emotions making them more vulnerable and attentive to the message of the speech. Antony incorporates pathos a lot throughout his speech. He said, When the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept (3.2), which is a very important line, because he is showing the sadness of the poor and the sympathy of Caesar. The people knowing that their great and powerful leader is not stone cold and had a very kind soul makes them feel many strong emotions. Antony then says, My heart is in the coffin there with Caesar (3.2). He is proving how much he cared for Caesar, and how when Caesar died, a part of him died as well. Antony needed the audience to trust and believe him, so he used an ethos appeal throughout his speech to show his credibility. He addressed Caesar as ...my friend, faithful and just to

  • 16. The Story Behind The War The Story Behind the War By Tiana Thibeault Traditionally, students have been taught that differences between northern and southern economies caused the Civil War. The industrial revolution in the North, during the first few decades of the 19th century, brought about an economy that revolved around a machine age which relied on wage laborers, not slaves. At the same time, the warmer Southern states continued to rely on slaves for their farming economy and cotton production. Southerners made huge profits from cotton and slaves and fought a war to maintain them. Northerners did not need slaves to establish or maintain their economy and fought a war to free them. Everything else, we are led to believe, was tied to that economic difference that was focused on cotton. The economy which was tied to agriculture was certainly one cause of the Civil War, but not the only one. Wars are never simple and neither are their causes. Research shows there are other factors that helped bring about the war which are central to a deeper understanding of America s past. So what did start the Civil War a war that divided the nation, destroyed crops, cities, and railroad lines, and claimed 630,000 lives? Many factors threw the nation into chaos in 1861. Key political issues at the time include the slow destruction of the Whig Party, the founding of the Republican Party, and, most important, the election of Abraham Lincoln as president in 1860. Religious opponents to slavery increased in number

  • 20. Symbolism In The Mending Wall By Robert Frost What Is The Mending Wall ? Robert Frost s poem Mending Wall is a poem that was written without proper form and has no stanzas/rhyme to it; this was done purposely by the author to make the writing sound more conversational and look more like a common story that a reader can simply apply to his/her own life circumstances. The poem presents readers with two neighbors and their efforts at reconstructing a stone wall separating their property every year. Frost uses metaphoric symbolism in this poem as the wallis used as a metaphor to portray the idea of a barrier between people and the repairing of the wall as resolving obstacles and bringing people together. Every spring, two very different men come together to rebuild a wall destroyed by nature and hunters; however, the speaker begins to think, what is the purpose of this wall if we have no animals to keep away? Why do we rebuild a wall every year that not even nature wants? The poem begins to compare two lifestyles: traditional and logical. While the neighbor truly believes good fences make good neighbors , the speaker argues that respect and kindness do rather than a useless wall. The first part of this poem announces the presence of wall destroyers. Lines 1 4 of the poem immediately introduce readers to something there is that doesn t love a wall . Frost announces that every year something is destroying the wall he and his neighbor build. Readers are made to understand that even nature itself does not like

It goes back to the 1920s when the island was partitioned, and Catholics in Northern Ireland believed that they were on the wrong side of that border, and believed that they had been done out of their political heritage. But Protestants have a sense of history which goes back to at least the seventeenth century, where from the time of the plantation of Ulster at the beginning of the 1600s, they have had to look to their own resources to ensure that they remained in control in the north of Ireland because they d lost control in the rest of Ireland. ... By the 1920s, the British political establishment decided it was time to get out of Ireland, militarily, politically, psychologically, but she could not get out of what became known as Northern Ireland because the Protestant majority there were convinced that they were British and they represented the majority. Partition So, the best deal that Britain could do in 1920 was to partition the island of Ireland, and make the northeast of Ireland into this new entity called Northern Ireland, and leave the rest of the country as a separate entity, which was still part of British jurisdiction but had a great deal more autonomy. Britain had no real solution other than partition. Britain, I think, would have liked to have withdrawn from Ireland, because it had been such a cost, such a drain on its international reputation. But Britain felt it owed allegiance to its kith and kin in the north of Ireland, the Protestant majority, who considered themselves to be British. And this Protestant majority said they would fight to maintain the right to be British. The best solution was a qualified partition, because built into the Government of Ireland Act was the prospect that at some future date, the island could be united again. So psychologically,

During a harmful algal bloom in 2014 near the Monterey Bay region, of all the CSLs that were rescued and studied, 41% showed signs of having DA poisoning ranging from mild to severe (Anderson et al., 2016). Detecting the movement of DA up the food chain is a challenge. Models are currently used to predict the number of animals affected by DA. These numbers depend heavily on being able to track and study the animals as they move to different locations. How long an animal was in an area of HABs and what that animal ate create a barrier in identifying how many animals have been affected and to what degree. (Lefebvre et al., 2016) Clinical Presentation Diagnosis: Most CSLs affected by DA show signs of being disoriented. They often become stranded on shore and sometimes in

Since, the mid 1940 s, with the formation of the first atomic bombs, engineers have worked on improving nuclear power. In the 1970 s and 80 s nuclear power plants were built in cities to provide power for homes, workplaces, and other facets of life. Nuclear reactions were not well understood by the general public and therefore nuclear engineers inherited a certain status. Also as a result, nuclear powerplants raised concerns for many Americans. The chances of a nuclear reactor failure were very slim, however, the consequences were devastating. Engineers feared that if the general public knew of the possible consequences that there would be massive amounts of unnecessary fear. As a result, operators of nuclear reactors were not informed of procedures to follow in the event of an emergency. On May 28, 1979, around 4 a.m. in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania at Three Mile Island nuclear power plant, the worst nuclear accident in United States history occurred (Backgrounder...). This intense visual is shockingly manifested through marble in the sculpture Laocoön and His Sons by Hagesandros, Polydoros, and Athenodoros of Rhodes. This alluring orchestra of artistic elements is the perfect compilation of technical perfection and emotional expression. The exaggerated drama of the piece is the style of the Greek s Hellenistic period. All things considered, Laocoön and His Sons possess both exquisite formal components and content and has the capability to provide insight into both the culture of the Greeks, as well as the attitudes of humanity towards its enemies. To commence, the formal composition of Laocoön and His Sons is enticing. The piece is carved in marblewith a height of eight feet. The marble white hue of the statue seems to accentuate the intricate anatomy of the figures. The three males are arranged upon a base. On one of the far sides of the platform, there resides a pillar style seating with drapery which dangles off in a waterfall like manner. The central figure, and by far the most substantial in size, Laocoön, sits at an angular position. This angular posture generates a dynamic composition. His two sons, Antiphantes and Thymbraeus, struggle at his side as sea serpents attack all three of the figures. There appear to be two sea serpents, one that is prominently digging its fangs into Laocoön s pelvis. Moreover, a

Student Name:Omar Merhi Subject Name:Maintain network protection and control systems (complex) Assignment topic:Safe disposal of insulation Material Assignment Number:1 Date: 30/3/11 Number of pages:4 Teacher:Craig Tooke Safe Disposal of Insulation Material There have been various types of Insulating materials used within the electrical power industry since the beginning of electrical power. And over the years scientist and environmentalist have discovered that most if not all insulating materials are harmful to the human body or the environment in one way or another, being shot term or long term exposures. First of all, the term insulating material refers to a substance that has the ability to resist electrical energy flow to make a conductor or copper wire safe to touch by human hands for instance. But all these insulating materials will break down at a certain limit if the power is strong enough, so this tells us that there is no such thing as a perfect insulator. This example explained above is one use for an insulating material within the electrical power industry. Insulators serve many advanced purposes and conditions. Be it Arc suppression within circuit breakers or voltage insulation on power lines, or even protective equipment worn by electrical workers. A majority of these insulating materials have been known to cause health hazards to humans and environmental hazards to the environment which will be discussed in a bit more detail further on, and

We as humans continued to evolve through the millennia, and so too did our intelligence and understanding of our small world. We began to socialize and congregate. If there s an objective why the predecessors of Sam Walton (founder of Wal Mart) decided to go out of its comfort zone in the US is diversity to diversify its market. This strategy is important because of 12 very important reasons: This strategy is important because it (1) Reduces risk against poor market conditions in the US. For example, over the past few months America s corporate world has lost half of its assets due to poor economy which can be a sign of recession. In condition like this, many consumers and business will cut down on spending. The effect of cutting spending can be felt by many organizations, including big retail giant Wal Mart. The point is that if the Wal Mart invest everything in to one market, then it would have greater risk should that market were to perform poorly in years to come. On the other hand, if Wal Mart chooses to operate globally in to different markets, than the investment is more diversified and so the risks are far less. You listen to an opera, most of the time is sung in a foreign language, you could not care much how little you understand the song because the music carries you through the piece. There has been studies that music can calm a person, makes them agitated, or even motivated. Other studies states that the musicwe listen to can tell what type of personality one person has. My musical preference, though all over the place at times, is mainly focused on theatrical show tunes. When choosing a song for this essay, I originally chose an aria from Bernstein s operetta, Candide, which was Glitter and Be Gay. Though I love the music, it did not speak to me as it is comic operetta song. Ultimately, I chose something from Stephen Sondheim s catalogue, a song called I m Still Here from the musical Follies. Though it isn t my favorite song of all time, it evokes the feeling of survivalism and a sense that you can weather through anything. The more I listen to this song over time, the more it gets more poignant. The song I m Still Here came from the musical, Follies, written by Stephen Sondheim. Though it tells a story of two middle aged couple, coming to the theater where they all first met and express regret of choices in their lives and their unhappiness with each other s spouses, many of the songs in the show, especially I m Still Here , are not consequential to the plot of the musical.

Qualitative Research Design Cresswell (2014) states qualitative methods rely on text and image data, have unique steps in data analysis, and draw on diverse designs (p. 183). Qualitative research design is a research method used by researchers studying human behaviors and habits. For example, a counselor generating some ideas for a new inclusion program might want to study people s behaviors and preferences, to make sure that the inclusion program might become feasible. Quick and Hall (2011) state The principal of informed consent ensures that research participants are not coerced or persuaded into research and that each individual fully understands the implications or participating (p. 2). This way the individual will know what is going to happen during the research. A researcher will then use data collection procedures with qualitative research. Qualitative observation is when the researcher will take field notes about individuals and their behaviors. The division of views on the issue of repatriation are loosely categorised into three groups: archaeologists, anthropologists and scientists that value scientific knowledge over the humanity of the remains, the return of ancestors that are believed by First Nations to have been stolen and stripped of their humanity and therefore should be returned, and finally the middle ground in which there are Indigenous academics and non Indigenous academics that strive to return human remains and in cases where it is not possible, treat them in a more respectful and culturally sensitive manner. Looking first to the complicated relationship between First Nations peoples and the institutions that collect ancestral remains (mainly universities and museums), it is easy to the that this relationship is based on inequality of power and knowledge. This inequality lays its routes in the colonial history of anthropology and museums collecting human remains for the betterment of science and knowledge (Jenkins 2008, 114).
