This document provides an overview of strokes, including: 1) Strokes are caused by an interruption of blood flow to the brain and are a leading cause of death and disability in the US. 2) The two main types of strokes are ischemic, caused by blockage of arteries, and hemorrhagic, caused by bleeding in the brain. 3) Warning signs of a stroke include sudden weakness, confusion, trouble speaking, and vision changes. Acting FAST (Face, Arms, Speech, Time) and calling 911 immediately can help reduce stroke damage.
