Diet
The Boa Constrictor is a carnivore that means that they can only eat meat and the
type of food that they will eat is very big lizards, small or moderate sized birds,
opossums, bats, mongooses, rats and they will also eat squirrels to. These
reptileswill normally hunt when it gets dark out and to help them to find where
their next meal is located they will activity use their heat-sensitive scales this is
how these snakes can find their next meal. The best food that the Boa constrictor
loves to eat the most is bats. These snakes will normally catch bats when they are
hanging upside down from a branch that is on a tree and the other places and
they can also be found is in these caves to. They will normally catch them by
grabbing them when they are flying high up in the sky and they will kill it by
constriction. They will also eat lots of different types of birds and small mammals
like monkeys, peccaries, and they will also eat rodents. They will also eat different
reptiles to like they will eat iguanas young crocodilians and they will also eat very
small lizards to. When they have a very big meal and then they will not be able to
eat for a very long time and they will rest in only about for weeks. These reptiles
can hold and garb their prey by wrapping their very strong bodies around the
animal’s body and then they will start to squeeze it until the animal is dead and
then they will start to swallow the food in whole. The food that they will eat the
most is different types of birds and mammals. The type of food that the Boa
constrictor will mostly eat is very big lizards, small or moderate sized birds, they
will also eat very small mammals like opossums, bats, rats and they will also eat
squirrels to. The Red-tailed boa constrictor can eat so many different types of
animals and the creatures that these snakes will see as their prey are rats, mice,
amphibians, birds, eggs and they will also eat very small mammals and they will
also eat other different typessnakes to. When these snakes are in captivity like
they are living in a zoo then the food that they will eat are mice, rats, rabbits and
they will also eat chickens. These snakes do not eat very often right after they
have a very big meal that has entered into their mouth. This is how the Boa
Constrictor can kill their prey. They will kill an animal by squeezing their animal to
death and then they will do that by using their very strong coils. When they finally
done killing the animal then they will start to swallow it whole.
Habitat/Range
The type of places where these snakes can be found is in Central America and
they can also be found in South America to. The type habitats that they can be
found in are different types of rainforests, savannas and they can also be found in
semi-arid areas to. A Boa Constrictor can be found on so many different types of
places like they can be found in the western part of North America, Central
America, South America and in Africa, and they can also be found on the island of
Madagascar. The other places where these snakes can live is in Western Asia and
they can also be found on the Pacific islands to. They can also be found on
different types of habitats to like they can live in rainforests, swamps, woodlands,
grasslands, savannas and they can also live in semi desert scrublands. The other
places where these amazing reptiles can be found is in Columbia and they also
like to live in places that have a very warm and tropical climate. The most
common places where a person can found a Boa Constrictor is in Central and in
South America and they also like to live in places that have very dry tropical
forests and that has open areas to.These snakes can be found on so many
different types of places and the habitats where they can be found is in
rainforests, deserts, open savanna and they can also live on cultivated fields. They
can also live In North of Mexico and they can also live in Argentina, Lesser Antilles.
The other types of places where the Boa Constrictor can be found are in both
different Americas which are Central and in South America and they can also be
found on some of the islands of the Caribbean. They like to be places that have
lots of tropical rainforests, dry savannah and they can also be found in places that
are in a hollow log and they canalso be found in a mammal burrow as well. The
best places to look for a Boa Constrictor are in the rainforests, agricultural lands,
semi and they also like to be in scrub areas that are in South and in Central
America. These snakes can also be seen around local villages to. The best places in
the world to found a Boa Constrictor is in places that are South America,
Madagascar, Asia and they can also be found on the Continent of Africa to. The
Boa Constrictor can be found on every single place in the world but they do not
live on the continent of Australia. These snakes can be found on different types of
habitats as will and those places that they live on is places that are in rainforests,
grasslands, and they can also be found on desert areas to. There are so many
different types of boas that can be found on all different places like they can be
found on very high trees and they are some that enjoy being in water. The Boas
that live on land than they will like to live in an underground hole that is called a
burrow. These are the types of boas that do not live high up in the trees or live in
the water. The most common place to look for a boa Constrictor is places that are
tropical and that has a warmer climate but it will have to be some place that is
warm all year round that is because they are cold-blooded animals and that
means that they cannot control their body hurt. The size of their average home
range is more than 150 miles (241 kilometers) that is how far that they are to
Texas all the away to the Northern part in Mexico.
Size/Weight
The Boa Constrictor can grow about 6 ½ to 10 feet (2-3 m) long there was this one
Constrictor that was found and it can grow about at least 18 ½ feet (6 m) long.
The size of the Boa Constrictor can be bigger than 6 to 10 feet but they can get
even bigger than 17 feet when they are living in their natural habitat. These
snakes can weigh about 40 pounds and these snakes have girths that can grow
about 10 to 16 inches. The length of an Boa Constrictor is 1-4 m(3.5 -13 ft.). The
size of these snakes can grow about 13 ft. (4 m). They can weight about 60 lbs. (27
kg). The Boa constrictor that can grow about 2.4-3 m (8-10 ft.) but there are
some Boas that can weight about 3.6 m (12 ft.). The length of these snakes is 11
feet but this size is known to be very rare for a boa constrictor. An adult boa can
weigh about 27 kg (60 lb.)An adult boa constrictor will never stop growing they
will continue to grow until they die. The most average size for an adult boa
constrictor is 6 to 10 feet (1.8-3m) long and they can weight about 60 pounds (27
kg). The biggest boa constrictor that has ever been discovered and it can weight
about 18.5 feet (5.5 m). This is how long that these snakes are. The biggest boa in
the world is the anaconda and they can grow up about 30 feet (9 meters) and the
shortest Boa is the elegant sand boa and they can grow about to 16 inches (40
centimeters). The anaconda is also known to be the heaviest boa than all of the
boa species in the world and they can weight about 280 pounds (127 kilograms).
The average length for a Boa Constrictor is really 6 to 12 feet that is the length of
these snakes. The total length of their tail can be longer than 20 inches and there
are some snakes that have the total length of 50 percent that is their total length
of these boas. The most largest size for a Boa Constrictor is about 5.5 m(18 ft.)
long.
Life Span
The Boa Constrictor can live until they are about 40 years old. These Snakes can
also live for 35 years to. When these snakes are living in captivity then they will
live for 20 years like they are living in a zoo or a game reserve. They can also live
about 25 to 30 years. When these snakes are in captivity than they will live for 30
years when they are living in a zoo. When they are living in their natural habitat
than they will live until they are 20 to 30 years old. There are some people that
believe that the ball python and the Boa Constrictor are known to live the longest
than any other snake in the world. But the most common life span for the Boa
Constrictor to live for is really about 35years and they can also live much longer
than that. The most long living Boa that has ever been recorded and it can live
about 40 years and there are some that are saying that this Boa may live for 4
years in their whole life time. There are some people that believe that the ball
python and the Boa Constrictor are known to live the longest. The normal life
span for the boa constrictor is that they can live for 35 years. The most average
life span for a boa constrictor is that they can live for 35 years this is their normal
everyday life span. The oldest boa that ever lived used to live about 40 years and
there are other people that are saying that these snakes can also live about 4
months whatever comes first.
1 interesting fact
Every single snake in the world all belong to different types groups that are called
families. The Boas are all belong to a type of family that is called the Boidae.
These snakes are just like the python that is because all both of these snakes are
both constrictors. There is a lot of boas that a very big head and avery big mouth.
There are a lot of species that have different types of patterns or markings that
can be found on the back of these snakes. The Boa constrictor, pythons and
anaconda are known to be the most biggest species of snake on the planet. There
are a lot of different people that are always confused on how to tell the
difference between a Boa Constrictor, a python and the anaconda. The first thing
that will help a person to know the difference between the species is that the
anaconda is not a type of snake that is in the snake family. But the Boas and the
pythons both have something in common and that is they are both constrictors.
These are the type of snake that can wrap their prey around so that they can
suffocate the animal to death. The females are known to be much bigger than the
males are. The other difference between these snakes is that Boas both have two
lungs but usually other species of snakes normally just have one lung in their
bodies. There is another big difference between the species and that is pythons
only have just one bone that is inside of their head than boas do and there are
some boas that have more teeth that can be on the right side of their mouth. The
other difference is that pythons are found in places that are in the old world like
they can be found in Africa, Asia and they can also be found in Australia to. The
boas both live in both worlds and that means that they live in the old world and
they can also be found in New world and the places that are in the new world is
North, Central and in South America. But the most biggest difference between a
boa and a python is that just like all other animals that are reptiles they lay eggs
and boas do not lay eggs. They will give birth to live young. This is known to be
most biggest difference between these two species of snake.
2 interesting fact
All the Boas in the world are not poisonous snakes unlike any other snakes in the
world but that does not mean that they are not dangerous but be very careful
when you run into one. There are a lot Boas that can be found in lots of different
movies and stories that will often take place in lots of different jungles. These
snakes will normally play the villain. A villain that can slide that can even cause a
lot of harm when they are sliding high up in a tree. These snakes are probably
doing this because they are trying to make a very good impression. But the truth
is that these snakes are very quiet and known to be very calm so they do not
deserve to have an very bad reputation on these creatures. These snakes are not
poisonous snakes and they do not live in jungles either. These snakes may not be
poisonous but these snakes can be very deadly. Even though these snakes are not
a pit viper, but there are some species of Boas that have very sensitive heat scales
that can be found all around their mouths and these scales can also come in
handy for when they have to look for food when night comes. These snakes can
easily bite if they are scared but these snakes are not that dangerous as a person
might think. But when these creatures gets to excited than they will start to hiss
and that might mean that they are ready to attack. But if you do get a attacked by
an Boa Constrictor than they will give you a wound and when that happens than
you should see a doctor as soon as possible that is because it may cause an
infection if it is possible. The infection will normally spread out a lot which will
cause serious damages very fast.
3 interesting fact
The tree boas are so much different than the other boa species especially the
ones that live on the ground and that is because they are a lot longer, much
thinner and they are also a lot lighter than the other boas that live on the ground.
These snakes have very special bodies that can help them to slide through the
tree tops. Their tails can also come in handy that is because it can help them to
grab onto different types of tree branches. The arboreal boa like the emerald boa
hasa very strong and powerful tail and they will use these very strong tails so that
they can hold onto tree branches. The tail of an arboreal boa can be so strong
that Itcan even hang down and they can also sneak up on any prey that comes by
and they can even hold onto their prey without even letting it go that is how
strong these snakes are. These snakes do not just have very strong tails. An
arboreal also has very long fangs and they can also be called teeth to. The other
species of boas will normally reach out and then they will start to bite their prey
very hard. The arboreal have an very long head and they also have an very thin
body than other species of boas do. These snakes have an very long and thin body
that will usually help themto move up into the trees that is very easy for them to
do. These snakes are most active at night that means that the arboreal boa is
nocturnal which means that they are active at night and they will normally sleep
during the day. The other amazing thing about these snakes is that they can sense
heat through their lips and that is what they will use when they are looking for
food when it gets dark out. These snakes do not just move on the ground they can
also move up in the trees to and they can do this by using the scales that is on
their bellies. These very cool scales can even help them to latch themselves when
they are moving up to any surface areas and it does not matter how smooth these
creatures are. When they are up in a tree and then a boa will start to wrap itself
around a tree branch so that it will not worry to much about losing balance and it
will also keep them from worrying about falling to. These snakes can do this
because they have a very strong and a very big body and they will also use this
when they are very hungry and ifthey want something to eat. These snakes have
very have long bodies they can reach anything that is in their way. These snakes
can even move when they can travel forward in a straight line and this is called an
rectilinear progression and this is being done by them stiffening the ribs so that
the rubs can give these snakes support for whenthey are moving through areas
that they are going through. So that their loose ends can grip onto the surface and
they can do that by pushing the snake ahead. The best places to do this is type of
movement is really on the ground and it can also do well up in the trees to. Boas
can even climb up any surfaces that can be smooth. But there is one movement
that they cannot do and that is to move very fast. They can only go for 1 mile per
hour (1.6 kilometers per hour). When they are on the ground. These snakes do
not have to travel so fast that is because they do not have to chase the food that
they have to eat.
Responding
The boa constrictor can respond really differently than the other species of snakes
do that is because they can give birth to live babies and that means that these
snakes are a special type of snake that is called ovoviviparous. The number of
babies that a female will have is the total of 20 to 50 babies but they will give
birth to only one baby at a time. The gestation period for these snakes is 4 to 8
months. The size of the newborns is about 1 foot long. The females will fertilize
their eggs inside of her body. Every single snake will start to grow when they are
inside of the eggs which are in their mother’s stomach that are being nourish by a
yolk. When the babies are fully grown then the eggs will start to hatch when they
are inside of their mother’s stomach. She will normally give birth to 6 or to 60
babies will start to grow about 35 and 60 cms (14 to 24 inches) this is the length
that the youngers are goingto be until they are an adult. Right after the babies are
out of their mother’s stomach than they will be ready to take care of themselves
as soon as they come out of their mother’s stomach. Both male and the female
will be ready to mate though the months of December to the month of March.
This is the time when these snakes will start to mate. On these snakes tails they
have bumps on them that are called spurs and they will normally use these bumps
when they are mating. Boas are so much different than the other species of snake
that is because a lot of snakes will normally lay eggs but the boas they will give
birth to live young instead of laying eggs when they are alive and the baby boas
will grow right inside their mother’s body. The number of babies that the boa will
start to have is really up to 50 babies and that is how many babies that these
snakes will give birth to. A boa baby can be bigger than 18 inches (46 cm) long.
When the snake continues to grow during its whole live than they will start to
shield their skin. The baby boa will become a full-grown adult boa in three or in
five years. But not all of the youngers will make it to adulthood that is because a
boa has to watch out for so many different types of animals that will kill them for
food. There are going to be some youngers that will not make it to adulthood. The
reason why is because very young boas have to watch out from other animals
that wants to eat them and there are so many different types of animals that will
want to eat them and an the youngers a lot more animals that they have to look
out from and they have a lot more predators than the adults do and the type of
animals that are predators to these snakes are very big cats, birds, and they will
also be eaten by crabs to they will also try to kill a baby boa for food to. A boa
constrictor will be ready to mate when they are at least 2 or 3 years old. These
snakes are known to live by themselves but the only time that they do come
together when it is time for them to mate. The season for a boa constrictor will
only breed in only in just one time in a year. The boa is so much different than the
python the reason why because boas will normally give birth to live young. A
female will have the total of 50 babies and she will give birth during the months
that are in summer. The young will start to eat only in a week or in two weeks
that is right after the babies are out of the mother’s stomach and the moment
that they are out of the stomach than they will start to grow very fast. The
females will have their babies inside of their bodies the number of babies that she
will have is the total of 60 babies and they can be bigger than 40 cm long. Boas do
not lay eggs like the other snakes do instead of laying their eggs they will normally
give birth to live young. When the young is inside of the mother’s stomach than
they will be hanging on a yolk sac and they are being surround by a clear
membrane. These eggs do not have a shell. When these snakes are growing inside
of the mother’s body this is a very good way on how they control their body
temperature and this is also a protection from predators when the babies are
ready to come out of their mother’s stomach so that they can be born than they
will start to come out of an special opening that is called the cloaca. Even though
they are out of their mother’s stomach they will have that protective membrane
and to get rid of that then they will have to break it until it opens. Then the
moment that they break the membrane will start to be all on their own and they
will have to learn how to protect themselves from the danger that Is waiting for
them usually the very first protection that they will use is that they will normally
hide from danger and the other reason why is that so that they can look for food
as well. The boa constrictor will grow into a mature adult in 2 or in 3 years
whatever comes first. The birth size of a baby boa constrictor is really about 6 to
24 inches (15 to 61 centimeters) long but this size can only be good but it depends
on the type of boa. The number of babies that a boa constrictor will give birth to
60 babies but they will only give birth to only one baby at a time. The moment
that they are out of their mother’s stomach than they will be out on their own the
moment that they leave their mother’s stomach for good. Every single boa is are
all born with instincts and they all have built-in-knowledge on how to get the food
that they are hunting for. These instincts can even come in handy for when they
are facing a predator. Boas are so much different than the other species of snakes
that is because these snakes are ovo-viviparous and the means that they can give
birth to live young. But these snakes can still lay eggs but they do not lay them in
a nest, these eggs are activity inside of the mother’s body and the youngers will
also hatch from these eggs to. They will continue to remain in the egg until they
are ready to come out of the egg. A boa mother will normally give birth to 40
youngers and they can also have even more than that. They will normally give
birth at one baby at a time. The gestation period for a boa constrictor is usually
about 100 to 150 days. Both the male and the female will both start to mate but it
depends on the type of season that they are in. The females will be ready to have
babies when she sends out her scent so that she can attack a male. After the
couple is done mating than right after they are done mating than the male and
the female will both be solitary again and that means these snakes live on their
own they do not live in a family or in a group.
Survival Status
The type of boas that are known to be endangered is the round island keel-scaled
boa, The Madagascar ground boa and the last boa that is known to be
endangered is the Madagascar tree boa. These are all of the boas that are known
to be in trouble for disappearing forever but there are some species that are a lot
more vulnerable than the others are. Boas are having the same problems just like
any other big snake is facing today and that is they are getting killed for their skins
which is known to be in very high prized that is in the leather trade. The boa
constrictor is not being farmed for their beautiful skins. The other problem that
these snakes are facing is that people are taking over their natural habitats that is
because they are collecting them. This is causing their population to shrink very
fast. The boas are also getting destroyed that is because people are collecting
these snakes so that they can be sold as pets this threat is called the pet trade.
These snakes are very popular to have as pets that is because they are so large
and they are very calm demeanor. But the most biggest threat that these snakes
are going though is that the human population is growing a lot fasterand that is a
very huge problem that is because there is not a enough habitat for the boa to
live on. The Boa Constrictor is a very important snake the reason why that is
because they kept the rodent population under control. This is really putting a lot
of negative impact on the environment. The boa constrictor are getting hunted
that is because for their great ornate skin and people are also sailings these
snakes as pets. There are some boas that are endangered and there are some
that are being protected in their range. The boa constrictor is at low risk that is
because of the pet trade and their habitats are getting destroyed these threats
are causing a lot of trouble for the boa constrictor’s future. The threats that these
snakes that are going though is also persecution. There are so many tropical
places that are in America that have boa constrictors that are known to kill
rodents and there has been so many of these snakes that are domesticated for
this type of reasons. There are also so many boas that are being bred or being
captured for the pet trade.
Message from author
We must do something to help and to save these amazing animals. These snakes
need all the help that they can get. The boa constrictor has the right to continue
living on this planet. They are doing their part in nature and we should find a
place in nature to. This is a very big planet that is filled with wonders and
discoveries that are just waiting to be found. We have to make this planet a safe
place for us and for the other living creatures that we share it with. This is our
beautiful home and it deserves to have a second change to live on for the next
generation to come on this planet. There is a really big, bright and beautiful future
if we find a way to project then our planet. Then our world will be a much happier
and a much cleaner place to live on. We have to make room for other living
creatures to. God made animals for a reason just like he made us. That is what I
know about the boa constrictor and other animals that live on this planet to.
Together we can make a difference in our beautiful planet that we all share.
Thank you so much for doing your part. With you reading and enjoying this book.
You are helping your favorite animal and its survival in the world. Without your
support and love and respect. Your favorite animal will have a chance to make a
comeback. This is a huge thank you for helping these animals and everything else
that has to do with nature. Nature it is very important that is because without
nature our planet will not be so beautiful and full of wonder that can open a
person’s eyes to world that they never had imagined. Nature thanks you for your

These snakes can be found on different types of habitats as will and those places that they live on is places that are in rainforests, grasslands, and they can also be found on desert areas to. There are so many different types of boas that can be found on all different places like they can be found on very high trees and they are some that enjoy being in water. The Boas that live on land than they will like to live in an underground hole that is called a burrow. These are the types of boas that do not live high up in the trees or live in the water. The most common place to look for a boa Constrictor is places that are tropical and that has a warmer climate but it will have to be some place that is warm all year round that is because they are cold-blooded animals and that means that they cannot control their body hurt. The size of their average home range is more than 150 miles (241 kilometers) that is how far that they are to Texas all the away to the Northern part in Mexico. Size/Weight The Boa Constrictor can grow about 6 ½ to 10 feet (2-3 m) long there was this one Constrictor that was found and it can grow about at least 18 ½ feet (6 m) long. The size of the Boa Constrictor can be bigger than 6 to 10 feet but they can get even bigger than 17 feet when they are living in their natural habitat. These snakes can weigh about 40 pounds and these snakes have girths that can grow about 10 to 16 inches. The length of an Boa Constrictor is 1-4 m(3.5 -13 ft.). The size of these snakes can grow about 13 ft. (4 m). They can weight about 60 lbs. (27 kg). The Boa constrictor that can grow about 2.4-3 m (8-10 ft.) but there are some Boas that can weight about 3.6 m (12 ft.). The length of these snakes is 11 feet but this size is known to be very rare for a boa constrictor. An adult boa can weigh about 27 kg (60 lb.)An adult boa constrictor will never stop growing they will continue to grow until they die. The most average size for an adult boa constrictor is 6 to 10 feet (1.8-3m) long and they can weight about 60 pounds (27 kg). The biggest boa constrictor that has ever been discovered and it can weight
  • 4. about 18.5 feet (5.5 m). This is how long that these snakes are. The biggest boa in the world is the anaconda and they can grow up about 30 feet (9 meters) and the shortest Boa is the elegant sand boa and they can grow about to 16 inches (40 centimeters). The anaconda is also known to be the heaviest boa than all of the boa species in the world and they can weight about 280 pounds (127 kilograms). The average length for a Boa Constrictor is really 6 to 12 feet that is the length of these snakes. The total length of their tail can be longer than 20 inches and there are some snakes that have the total length of 50 percent that is their total length of these boas. The most largest size for a Boa Constrictor is about 5.5 m(18 ft.) long. Life Span The Boa Constrictor can live until they are about 40 years old. These Snakes can also live for 35 years to. When these snakes are living in captivity then they will live for 20 years like they are living in a zoo or a game reserve. They can also live about 25 to 30 years. When these snakes are in captivity than they will live for 30 years when they are living in a zoo. When they are living in their natural habitat than they will live until they are 20 to 30 years old. There are some people that believe that the ball python and the Boa Constrictor are known to live the longest than any other snake in the world. But the most common life span for the Boa Constrictor to live for is really about 35years and they can also live much longer than that. The most long living Boa that has ever been recorded and it can live about 40 years and there are some that are saying that this Boa may live for 4 years in their whole life time. There are some people that believe that the ball python and the Boa Constrictor are known to live the longest. The normal life span for the boa constrictor is that they can live for 35 years. The most average life span for a boa constrictor is that they can live for 35 years this is their normal everyday life span. The oldest boa that ever lived used to live about 40 years and there are other people that are saying that these snakes can also live about 4 months whatever comes first.
  • 5. 1 interesting fact Every single snake in the world all belong to different types groups that are called families. The Boas are all belong to a type of family that is called the Boidae. These snakes are just like the python that is because all both of these snakes are both constrictors. There is a lot of boas that a very big head and avery big mouth. There are a lot of species that have different types of patterns or markings that can be found on the back of these snakes. The Boa constrictor, pythons and anaconda are known to be the most biggest species of snake on the planet. There are a lot of different people that are always confused on how to tell the difference between a Boa Constrictor, a python and the anaconda. The first thing that will help a person to know the difference between the species is that the anaconda is not a type of snake that is in the snake family. But the Boas and the pythons both have something in common and that is they are both constrictors. These are the type of snake that can wrap their prey around so that they can suffocate the animal to death. The females are known to be much bigger than the males are. The other difference between these snakes is that Boas both have two lungs but usually other species of snakes normally just have one lung in their bodies. There is another big difference between the species and that is pythons only have just one bone that is inside of their head than boas do and there are some boas that have more teeth that can be on the right side of their mouth. The other difference is that pythons are found in places that are in the old world like they can be found in Africa, Asia and they can also be found in Australia to. The boas both live in both worlds and that means that they live in the old world and they can also be found in New world and the places that are in the new world is North, Central and in South America. But the most biggest difference between a boa and a python is that just like all other animals that are reptiles they lay eggs and boas do not lay eggs. They will give birth to live young. This is known to be most biggest difference between these two species of snake.
  • 6. 2 interesting fact All the Boas in the world are not poisonous snakes unlike any other snakes in the world but that does not mean that they are not dangerous but be very careful when you run into one. There are a lot Boas that can be found in lots of different movies and stories that will often take place in lots of different jungles. These snakes will normally play the villain. A villain that can slide that can even cause a lot of harm when they are sliding high up in a tree. These snakes are probably doing this because they are trying to make a very good impression. But the truth is that these snakes are very quiet and known to be very calm so they do not deserve to have an very bad reputation on these creatures. These snakes are not poisonous snakes and they do not live in jungles either. These snakes may not be poisonous but these snakes can be very deadly. Even though these snakes are not a pit viper, but there are some species of Boas that have very sensitive heat scales that can be found all around their mouths and these scales can also come in handy for when they have to look for food when night comes. These snakes can easily bite if they are scared but these snakes are not that dangerous as a person might think. But when these creatures gets to excited than they will start to hiss and that might mean that they are ready to attack. But if you do get a attacked by an Boa Constrictor than they will give you a wound and when that happens than you should see a doctor as soon as possible that is because it may cause an infection if it is possible. The infection will normally spread out a lot which will cause serious damages very fast. 3 interesting fact The tree boas are so much different than the other boa species especially the ones that live on the ground and that is because they are a lot longer, much thinner and they are also a lot lighter than the other boas that live on the ground. These snakes have very special bodies that can help them to slide through the tree tops. Their tails can also come in handy that is because it can help them to
  • 7. grab onto different types of tree branches. The arboreal boa like the emerald boa hasa very strong and powerful tail and they will use these very strong tails so that they can hold onto tree branches. The tail of an arboreal boa can be so strong that Itcan even hang down and they can also sneak up on any prey that comes by and they can even hold onto their prey without even letting it go that is how strong these snakes are. These snakes do not just have very strong tails. An arboreal also has very long fangs and they can also be called teeth to. The other species of boas will normally reach out and then they will start to bite their prey very hard. The arboreal have an very long head and they also have an very thin body than other species of boas do. These snakes have an very long and thin body that will usually help themto move up into the trees that is very easy for them to do. These snakes are most active at night that means that the arboreal boa is nocturnal which means that they are active at night and they will normally sleep during the day. The other amazing thing about these snakes is that they can sense heat through their lips and that is what they will use when they are looking for food when it gets dark out. These snakes do not just move on the ground they can also move up in the trees to and they can do this by using the scales that is on their bellies. These very cool scales can even help them to latch themselves when they are moving up to any surface areas and it does not matter how smooth these creatures are. When they are up in a tree and then a boa will start to wrap itself around a tree branch so that it will not worry to much about losing balance and it will also keep them from worrying about falling to. These snakes can do this because they have a very strong and a very big body and they will also use this when they are very hungry and ifthey want something to eat. These snakes have very have long bodies they can reach anything that is in their way. These snakes can even move when they can travel forward in a straight line and this is called an rectilinear progression and this is being done by them stiffening the ribs so that the rubs can give these snakes support for whenthey are moving through areas that they are going through. So that their loose ends can grip onto the surface and they can do that by pushing the snake ahead. The best places to do this is type of movement is really on the ground and it can also do well up in the trees to. Boas can even climb up any surfaces that can be smooth. But there is one movement that they cannot do and that is to move very fast. They can only go for 1 mile per
  • 8. hour (1.6 kilometers per hour). When they are on the ground. These snakes do not have to travel so fast that is because they do not have to chase the food that they have to eat. Responding The boa constrictor can respond really differently than the other species of snakes do that is because they can give birth to live babies and that means that these snakes are a special type of snake that is called ovoviviparous. The number of babies that a female will have is the total of 20 to 50 babies but they will give birth to only one baby at a time. The gestation period for these snakes is 4 to 8 months. The size of the newborns is about 1 foot long. The females will fertilize their eggs inside of her body. Every single snake will start to grow when they are inside of the eggs which are in their mother’s stomach that are being nourish by a yolk. When the babies are fully grown then the eggs will start to hatch when they are inside of their mother’s stomach. She will normally give birth to 6 or to 60 babies will start to grow about 35 and 60 cms (14 to 24 inches) this is the length that the youngers are goingto be until they are an adult. Right after the babies are out of their mother’s stomach than they will be ready to take care of themselves as soon as they come out of their mother’s stomach. Both male and the female will be ready to mate though the months of December to the month of March. This is the time when these snakes will start to mate. On these snakes tails they have bumps on them that are called spurs and they will normally use these bumps when they are mating. Boas are so much different than the other species of snake that is because a lot of snakes will normally lay eggs but the boas they will give birth to live young instead of laying eggs when they are alive and the baby boas will grow right inside their mother’s body. The number of babies that the boa will start to have is really up to 50 babies and that is how many babies that these snakes will give birth to. A boa baby can be bigger than 18 inches (46 cm) long. When the snake continues to grow during its whole live than they will start to shield their skin. The baby boa will become a full-grown adult boa in three or in five years. But not all of the youngers will make it to adulthood that is because a
  • 9. boa has to watch out for so many different types of animals that will kill them for food. There are going to be some youngers that will not make it to adulthood. The reason why is because very young boas have to watch out from other animals that wants to eat them and there are so many different types of animals that will want to eat them and an the youngers a lot more animals that they have to look out from and they have a lot more predators than the adults do and the type of animals that are predators to these snakes are very big cats, birds, and they will also be eaten by crabs to they will also try to kill a baby boa for food to. A boa constrictor will be ready to mate when they are at least 2 or 3 years old. These snakes are known to live by themselves but the only time that they do come together when it is time for them to mate. The season for a boa constrictor will only breed in only in just one time in a year. The boa is so much different than the python the reason why because boas will normally give birth to live young. A female will have the total of 50 babies and she will give birth during the months that are in summer. The young will start to eat only in a week or in two weeks that is right after the babies are out of the mother’s stomach and the moment that they are out of the stomach than they will start to grow very fast. The females will have their babies inside of their bodies the number of babies that she will have is the total of 60 babies and they can be bigger than 40 cm long. Boas do not lay eggs like the other snakes do instead of laying their eggs they will normally give birth to live young. When the young is inside of the mother’s stomach than they will be hanging on a yolk sac and they are being surround by a clear membrane. These eggs do not have a shell. When these snakes are growing inside of the mother’s body this is a very good way on how they control their body temperature and this is also a protection from predators when the babies are ready to come out of their mother’s stomach so that they can be born than they will start to come out of an special opening that is called the cloaca. Even though they are out of their mother’s stomach they will have that protective membrane and to get rid of that then they will have to break it until it opens. Then the moment that they break the membrane will start to be all on their own and they will have to learn how to protect themselves from the danger that Is waiting for them usually the very first protection that they will use is that they will normally hide from danger and the other reason why is that so that they can look for food
  • 10. as well. The boa constrictor will grow into a mature adult in 2 or in 3 years whatever comes first. The birth size of a baby boa constrictor is really about 6 to 24 inches (15 to 61 centimeters) long but this size can only be good but it depends on the type of boa. The number of babies that a boa constrictor will give birth to 60 babies but they will only give birth to only one baby at a time. The moment that they are out of their mother’s stomach than they will be out on their own the moment that they leave their mother’s stomach for good. Every single boa is are all born with instincts and they all have built-in-knowledge on how to get the food that they are hunting for. These instincts can even come in handy for when they are facing a predator. Boas are so much different than the other species of snakes that is because these snakes are ovo-viviparous and the means that they can give birth to live young. But these snakes can still lay eggs but they do not lay them in a nest, these eggs are activity inside of the mother’s body and the youngers will also hatch from these eggs to. They will continue to remain in the egg until they are ready to come out of the egg. A boa mother will normally give birth to 40 youngers and they can also have even more than that. They will normally give birth at one baby at a time. The gestation period for a boa constrictor is usually about 100 to 150 days. Both the male and the female will both start to mate but it depends on the type of season that they are in. The females will be ready to have babies when she sends out her scent so that she can attack a male. After the couple is done mating than right after they are done mating than the male and the female will both be solitary again and that means these snakes live on their own they do not live in a family or in a group. Survival Status The type of boas that are known to be endangered is the round island keel-scaled boa, The Madagascar ground boa and the last boa that is known to be endangered is the Madagascar tree boa. These are all of the boas that are known to be in trouble for disappearing forever but there are some species that are a lot more vulnerable than the others are. Boas are having the same problems just like any other big snake is facing today and that is they are getting killed for their skins
  • 11. which is known to be in very high prized that is in the leather trade. The boa constrictor is not being farmed for their beautiful skins. The other problem that these snakes are facing is that people are taking over their natural habitats that is because they are collecting them. This is causing their population to shrink very fast. These snakes are very popular to have as pets that is because they are so large and they are very calm demeanor. But the most biggest threat that these snakes are going though is that the human population is growing a lot fasterand that is a very huge problem that is because there is not a enough habitat for the boa to live on.
