Ramon Mislang was a passionate and engaging Japanese language teacher who utilized fun and motivating teaching approaches. He ensured students understood concepts by speaking slowly and writing romanizations while also leveraging students' Chinese language knowledge. Ramon was dedicated to his students' needs and took initiative to help plan educational events. He communicated effectively, maintained a positive attitude, and was described as delightful, inspiring, and devoted to others.

2. Zhen Niu Low
Ramon sensei, was my Japanese language teacher in
HKIED back in 2008. I enjoyed his lessons and indulged in
his passion for teaching, as well as all my classmates. He is
ever-energetic in all lessons, he adopted fun teaching and
learning approaches to keep us motivated in learning
Japanese language, as he understands students needs well
because learning foreign language is not an easy task. This
is the reasons why I still can remember him till today. His
passions in teaching always in my mind. Having a great
teacher like him, desired by every student, he is my role
model for my teaching career.

3. Robin Chen
I took Japanese with Ramon-sensei in fall 2010. It was a
fun class that I looked forward to every Friday afternoon. I
liked Ramon's teaching style because he always tried to stay
in the target language, but to make sure we understood, he
would speak slowly and write the Romanization of the
words on the board. He knew that a lot of us could read
Chinese, so he would use that to his advantage by writing
out kanji sometimes. Ramon is a great teacher who is very
aware of the needs of his student population.

Having worked with Ramon at the Hong Kong Institute of
Education I know Ramon to be a wonderful professional
and person.
Ramon is engaging, warm and enthusiastic and has the
ability to communicate effectively with people from all over
the globe. Having worked to organize over 20 major events
with Ramon, I can confidently say that Ramon has
meticulous attention to detail, strong public speaking and a
proven ability to perform in the planning, delivery and
evaluation of events. He is someone I am pleased to count
as a colleague and, more than this, a great friend too.

Dedicated and supportive--these are the qualities that
describe Ramon Mislang's professional approach. As his
colleague at the Hong Kong Institute of Education, I had
the opportunity to plan cultural events on campus with
Ramon. He always paid close attention to the needs of his
students and was able to communicate those needs and
offer ideas to our planning committee. Ramon took
initiative to help the team with various event tasks, saw
projects through, followed up with students for feedback,
and always maintained a positive attitude. I highly
recommend Ramon and believe his qualities are great
assets to any organization he chooses throughout his
professional career.

Ramon Mislang and I have been colleagues and friends since the
beginning of our graduate school experience at the Monterey
Institute of International Studies. Working with him on a
Principles & Practice project in “Raising Cultural Consciousness”
was an absolute pleasure because of his wealth of experience in
multicultural settings while teaching abroad and in the US. We
were also in the same portfolio seminar during our final semester
- the capstone experience in our MATESOL program. I have
always appreciated Ramon’s feedback because he truly listens
and gives thoughtful responses, which are essential qualities in a
work atmosphere. In my opinion, Ramon is one of the most
unique, delightful, and inspiring people I have ever met because
he devotes himself to others and his passions without
boundaries. He is truly a natural teacher.

My first impression of Ramon came not through
introduction, but observation. Through his natural ability
to impress and inspire and through his ease of interaction,
it is not difficult to discern why people are drawn towards
him. He can be relied upon to give professional and sound
advice, and provide support and guidance when needed.
This has inevitably translated into a global network of
friends and colleagues of whom I am fortunate to be one,
and who trust and value his friendship immensely.
