4. What is a blog?
• The word “Blog” is a short form of Web Log.
• Regularly updated website, consist of posts on one or many themes
• Blogs are classed as social media. Readers can comment on the posts,
subscribe to them and share links to the blogs
• Entries are displayed date wise where the most recent comes first and

 It is a unique form of online publishing
 Due to their informal nature, blogs can be used as a diary , a record or
a collection of interesting material
 Blogs can be personal, artistic, academic, or professional.
 There can be individual blogs, group blogs, departmental blogs,
project blogs etc

 Educators are using blogs in many ways.
 Blogs can be used as online portfolios, student journals, record of
field notes and spaces for knowledge sharing.
 From a teacher’s point of view, a blog can become a class notice
board, a collection of documents or discussion tool with his/her
students.
