This actively engages students and promotes learning.Watching videos, such as those from United Streaming, reinforces concepts taught in class and presents them in a new way.
SMART boardsA SMART board is a type of white board thatuses a special type of marker.  This can beused to teach a lesson or as a way for studentsto be engaged with learning.An example of it being used in the classroom isfirst graders using a program to teach theirmath skills.  They use the special marker toanswer math problems and the program givesthem feedback.
ComputersComputers can be used in a variety of ways inthe classroom.  Using them is a good way toget the students excited about learning.  Thestudents can use it in a variety of ways, suchas:Using word processing software to type stories they have written.Playing educational-related games to reinforce skills.Using the Internet for research.Allowing the students to work in pairs on the computer is alsosomething that teachers should consider.  This increasesstudent involvement and they are able to practicecooperative learning.
Document camerasDocument cameras, such as the Lumens orELMO, are replacing overhead projectors. “Adocument camera can magnifybooks or papers for all the students to see.”(Preston, n.d.)Document cameras are convenient for teachersbecause they can show a sheet of paper or abook without making a transparency.
