• Institutions looking at the VLE
• Greater use of LTI – embedding 3rd party technologies
• Alignment with social media and the sharing of content
• Staff and students can’t be left to fend for themselves

• As we get smarter with analytics AI can be applied
• Adaptive learning software, virtual avatars, chatbots, etc.

• We can learn from the MOOC

• One of the things that is growing real fast is WIL
• Partnerships with industries
• Not just about Uni’s getting students ready for work it’s
about industries working with Uni to get what they need
• So how will the AFP work with its students?

  • 3. • Increasingly the LMS is becoming more porous • Institutions looking at the VLE • Greater use of LTI – embedding 3rd party technologies • Alignment with social media and the sharing of content • Staff and students can’t be left to fend for themselves PAGE 3
  • 4. • You might think this means it’s all about the student • You’d be right • Plotting the journey – understanding the touchpoints • Engaging them in the first three weeks, etc. • Chunking content • The human voice • Still need to read, but don’t regurgitate • Video content short and sharp PAGE 4
  • 5. • The #1 thing students want is consistency • Students don’t want to have to relearn where to find things in each course • Apply some form of standard to you sites: ACODE Standards or QM • Analytics can help • Decisions based on data not just on gut • Adaptive learning pathways • Conditional activities PAGE 5
  • 6. • Augmented Reality vs. Virtual Reality vs. Mixed Reality • Hololens vs Oculus Rift vs Google Glass vs + + + • An end-user focus and low cost will drive uptake • Publishers will start to step-up to the mark • As we get smarter with analytics AI can be applied • Adaptive learning software, virtual avatars, chatbots, etc. leveraging basic AI algorithms to personalise learning and deliver content • Next-gen LMS PAGE 6 Artificial Intelligence Virtual & Augmented Reality
  • 7. • Once we can align assessment to outcomes… • We can break learning into chunks to credential • We align this with Professional Learning Profiles • A credentialing engine and backpack (can be the LMS) • Unbundle the components allowing them to be repurposed in unique and compelling ways • Align with blockchain technologies & Bob’s your uncle • We can learn from the MOOC PAGE 7
  • 8. • As academic we are all legends in our own lunchbox • (Not) but we do know good stuff when we see it • So its also about thought syndication • One of the things that is growing real fast is WIL • Partnerships with industries • Not just about Uni’s getting students ready for work it’s about industries working with Uni to get what they need • So how will the AFP work with its students?
