Black Tuesday
The stock market crash, October 29, 1929 this is also known as Black Tuesday. The Great
Depression was an economic slump in North America and Europe. The industrialized Western world
had experienced the most ruthless and prolonged depression. Cinderella Man is only one example of
how families struggle and overcame the great depression. You will see how this effective many
Americans. Why the stock market crashed, was due to two factors, economic and financial. For
example economic factors where, poor distribution of wealth, many consumers relied on credit,
credit dried up, consumer spending dropped and industries struggled. Financial factors were a threat
to the stock market rise in the mid–1920s. Speculation in stock ... Show more content on

In view of the fact that consumers are not purchasing as much food, farmers are struggling in saving
their farms. Also, the drought or also known as the dust storms are contributing to this reason. Since
people were not buying as much the farmers could not afford to keep the farms, and the drought was
making it even more difficult to grow food. Therefore, unable to make payments they would either
file for bankruptcy or may be foreclosed. With these failures came unemployment, this is cause by
not having enough jobs for people. The unemployment rate rose up to 25 percent, some areas where
even higher than that. Hoovervilles and hoboes where the new social groups created by
unemployment. Hoovervilles are people who lived in shacks on the out skirts of towns or parks to
accommodate the homeless. Hoboes were people who took to the road. They would travel from
town to town in search of work, food and housing. A lot of them would try to travel by boarding a
moving train this was extremely dangerous. Hoboes develop a language all to their own to tell each
other of honest and dishonest opportunities. The Great Depression took a highly emotional toll on
every American.
The depression affected Jim Braddock and his family in many ways. One way was he could not get
work do to his hand been broken from boxing. Jim was not able to afford the essentials to survive

The United States Is Facing A State Of Stagnation
Staples is a large enough company that despite negative economic conditions staples can still thrive.
The United States is facing a state of stagnation. Despite heading towards a state of stagnation
staples can aggressively pursue new markets and new areas to grow. Normally the economy goes
through ups and downs in periods of six to twelve years. According to the capitalist theories a
trade/monetary based society will always be heading in an upwards direction with normal economic
fluctuation. In a state of stagnation, an economy doesn't grow and instead stays about the same or
slowly declines over a long period of time. In a stagnant economy normal fluctuations do occur but
there is no real growth happening. This stagnant economy comes from many different factors.
Though our population is still growing our educated working class is shrinking in the work force
with the baby booming generation starting retirement. Our population is still increasing due to
immigration, not reproduction inside the country. (1), (2) The amount of debt currently owed to
other countries is another reason for our pending stagnation. Currently our countries debt is at
almost eighteen trillion dollars, about fifty six thousand dollars per citizen or about one hundred
fifty six thousand dollars of debt per tax payer (3). Right now one of the few strategies the United
States has is to combat their debt is to print money and increase inflation faster than the debt grows.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Sharing Economy
5. Benefits and Downsides of Sharing Economy
Now that the most common claims and rumors about the sharing economy were discussed in a bit
more detail, and some advantages and disadvantages were already identified, the following chapter
takes again a closer look at them. The purpose of this chapter is primarily directed towards the
possibility to predict the future, since depending on which side outweighs the other, the future
prognosis will correspondingly modify. In the following, by and large, a distinction between the
different types of the sharing economy will not be made, it is intended to serve as an overall
overview. Above all, Uber and Airbnb, as the probably most well–known platform providers, are
often used for illustrative purposes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Real Business Cycles Hypothesis Sees Cycles
Introduction
Real Business Cycles hypothesis sees cycles as starting in frictionless splendidly focused economies
with for the most part finish markets subject to genuine stuns (irregular changes in innovation or
efficiency), it makes the contention that cycles are predictable with aggressive general harmony
situations in which all operators are levelheaded maximizers (The Economist). In opposition to what
Keynesian, Monetarist, and new traditional business analysts trusted, RBC scholars, beginning with
Nelson and Plosser in 1982, found that the theory that GDP development takes after an arbitrary
walk can 't be rejected. They contended that a large portion of the adjustments in GDP were
perpetual, and that yield development would not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Changes in the work supply or livelihood.
RBC models were for the most part fruitful in representing diligence and co–movement, yet less
effective in offering persuading clarifications for changes in occupation (Real Business Cycle
Theory).
The Baxter and King paper, "Fiscal Policy in General Equilibrium" concentrates on four exemplary
financial approach tests inside a quantitatively confined neoclassical model. The creators ' primary
discoveries are as per the following: lasting changes in government buys can prompt short–run and
long–run yield multipliers that surpass one; perpetual changes in government buys instigate bigger
impacts than transitory changes; the financing choice is quantitatively more critical than the asset
expense of changes in government buys; and open venture affects private yield and speculation.
These discoveries stem from critical element collaborations of capital and work truant in prior
harmony investigations of monetary arrangement (Baxter King 1993).
In the event that business cycles are brought about for the most part by changes in efficiency, instead
of by money related and budgetary unsettling influences, what part do financial and monetary
arrangements play? In Satyajit Chatterjee 's article he examines the likelihood that countercyclical
money related and financial arrangements have assumed a vital part in

T Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia
Introduction
T–cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia is an aggressive haematological tumour, caused by the
malignant transformation of T–cell progenitors. The intrathymic T–cell development constitutes the
pathophysiological framework consisting of the basic mechanisms that lead to pathogenesis of T–
cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (Haydu, 2014).
a) Mode of action of the drugs
Allopurinol
This drug acts by inhibiting the enzyme xanthine oxidase, which is required for the oxidation of
hypoxanthine and xanthine, leading to the formation of uric acid. Inhibition of uric acid metabolism
results in an increase in the quantities of both hypoxanthine and xanthine. This drug is used to
handle hyperuricemia in some disease such as goat and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, It counteracts the side effects produced by some of the chemotherapeutic drugs. It also
counteracts the antiemetic effects of 5–HT3receptor antagonists (Harousseau, 2006). (However, the
exact method of Dexamethasone's action still is unknown)
Vincristine
This is a mitotic inhibitor that acts by binding to the tubulin dimmers, thus blocking the assembly of
microtubule structures, which results in the inhibition of cell mitosis in the metaphase. It targets all
the rapidly dividing cells thus inhibiting both cancerous cells and the bone marrow (Graf, 1996).
Daunorubicin
Daunorubicin is an anti–tumour drug (anthrocycline), which is originated from streptomyes
coeruleorubidus, which is mainly used for acute non lymphocytic Leukaemia.
It mechanism of action involves the intercalation of DNA, thus inhibiting macromolecular
biosynthesis. It inhibits the enzyme topoisomerase II, which is responsible for relaxing the
supercoils in DNA. It stabilises the topoisomerase II complex after it has un–winded the DNA for
replication. This complex prevents the two strands from coming together and sealing, thus
preventing replication and resulting in the induction of apoptosis (Pang, 2013).
Pegylated L–asparaginase (Oncaspor)
The asparaginase enzyme decreases the level of asparagines in the blood stream by breaking down
of L–asparagine into L–aspartic acid and ammonia. It

Analyzing Cyclical Steam Injections Of A Heavy Oil Reservoir
For our senior project, we analyzed cyclical steam injections in a heavy oil reservoir using reservoir
simulations. We began the project as though we had been contracted to analyze a cyclical steam
injection project in a pay–zone similar to the Clearwater formation in Cold Lake, Alberta. In this
heavy, dead oil reservoir the facilities, injectors, and producer are already set up in the field with a
seven spot orientation. The company wants further analysis on the project once the market declined,
requesting reservoir simulations be conducted over a six year period before proceeding. Through the
program CMG STARS, we were able to simulate production in a field with similar characteristics,
employing field data from technical papers referenced in this paper. The complex equations
simultaneously solved in CMG STARS including multiphase fluid flow and conservation equations
make the program an invaluable reservoir evaluation tool. Sensitivity analysis was conducted to
monitor the production responses to changes in steam injection parameters, compiling over 40
simulations. The injection was optimized with a total of 35 simulations after identifying the most
significant parameters impacting production. Net present values and cumulative production of oil
and water were analyzed to construct a recommendation for the project. In this paper, we will
discuss the model construction, sensitivity analysis, optimization, and economic analysis in greater
detail. Although the constraints of

Unequal Democracy By Larry Bartle
In "Unequal Democracy" written by Larry Bartle focuses on how politics have influenced the
growing gap between the rich and poor in America. Bartle argues that the gap has resulted from
policy choices dominated by partisan ideologies and interest of the wealthy, specifically under the
Republican Party, while Democrats have managed to slightly decrease the gap. Bartle sheds light on
how poor voters have a disadvantage in which wealthier voters are more affluent to political leaders.
In addition, Bartle examines whether voting patterns of voters have contributed to the growing
economic inequality, and he concludes voters do not weigh more into social and cultural issues;
rather Republic presidents are good at timing income growth to garner voters. The political
environment has essentially influenced economy, in result has led to a growing economic gap
between the rich and poor, which is a national and state issue that must be addressed. Education is
essential to attain social mobility, however students face difficult obstacles. Even though we have
laws like No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), however many students that come from low social
class families do not have equal opportunities as students that come from higher income households.
NCLB is encouraging on its face, but it does not address the unequal distribution of funds for
districts. NCLB set standards in which students must achieve scores on standardized test rather than
having access to equal opportunities, in

The book I have chosen to review is Decade of Despair: Winnebago County During the Great
Depression 1929–1939. Authors are Werner E. Braatz and Thomas J. Rowland. Copyright 2009 by
University Press of America. Published Lanham, Maryland 20706. ISBN–13: 978–0761846406.
The stock market crash of October 1929 drastically affected the economic growth of the entire
United States. In Wisconsin the attitudes of many changed and several began to devise plans on
surviving the worst depression in the Nation's history. Wisconsin, like many other states suffered as
factories began to close, wages dropped, and unemployment became even more common. The effect
of the stock market crash was all felt at once, giving those little to no time to prepare for it. To help
cope with the depression many companies began advertising to half price or reduced price items,
these items consisted of anything from food to cars. Throughout the next month employment for
unskilled labor began to dry up leaving few job opportunities for those not a trained. This was just
the start of what was about to come. For the next ten years Winnebago County and the entire United
States would continue to suffer in this period known as The Great Depression.
The author's main purpose in writing this book was to explain what went on in Winnebago County
during The Great Depression. They discussed issues such as unemployment, debt relief, and slow
industry during the depression and how those living in Winnebago County

Cyclical History: One Of The Five Philosophies Of History
If you look closely at history of the world, a person could believe that civilization moves in a
cyclical form. Cyclical history is one of the five philosophies of history. Everything is born raises to
maturity followed by a decline and then ends in death and then reborn again, a circular form. This
circular theory is seen in: seasons, life, machinery, civilizations and in culture. Yet, a cycle doesn't
have to last for a day, a year, it could be 20 years or even 12,000 years. In some incidents, it is not
known whether the cycle is at the end or at the beginning. Many cultures rely on cyclical history to
show where we are in the cycle. Many cultures use cyclical history to describe the past. In China,
history is based on dynasties. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the philosophies is called linear history. This is a theory that life starts as creation and
proceeds down a line to judgement day. This is especially noticeable in Judo–Christian religion.
Each event or moment even though similar is different in some way. The events will never end the
same. The third philosophy is progress of history, this theory is where human condition has
improved so much and will continue to improve with the aid of technology and medicine. To give
this theory some validation, people are taller, stronger, and we do live longer than before. The four
philosophy is historicism, which by Gianmbattista Viso, means history was determined by laws and
the belief that understanding people and cultures requires an understanding events. An example of
this would be: what happen 200 years ago formed with the developing of the United States is why
we are here today. The last philosophy is Marxism which implies that everyone labors for his basic
needs which in other words–historical materialism. This theory is based on the changes in economic
and pollical programs. Historical materialism presumes that the social structure and the economy are
chiefly influenced by changes in material conditions (such as technology, forces of production,
necessities of life). Everyone has their opinion on how history was created, yet I didn't give you my
opinion

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Hyperplasia
Estrogen vs Progestrone
Estrogen ( the female sex hormone ) dominance happens when there is too much estrogen in the
body . For most cancers the first clinical screening involves testing of estrogen dominance .
Generally estrogen dominance is coupled with decrease in the hormone progesterone. Our body
produces both but because of various reasons there is a disturbance .When we are stressed it affects
our nervous system and along with our endocrine system. Our body produces both but once there is
a disturbance and if we continue taking estrogen rich foods we will disrupt the endocrine system
more and this can cause the risk of cancer.
Xenoestrogen / Phytoestrogen means foreign estrogen or from outside the body.
In my case I believe excess of estrogen could have been the cause of Adenomyosis or at least it can
aggravate the situation so would recommend avoiding products with xenoestrogen and including

Hyperplasia is a condition in which the lining of the uterus becomes too thick, which results in
abnormal bleeding. Hyperplasia is thought to be caused by too much estrogen.
Depending on your age and how long you have had hyperplasia, your doctor may want to do a
biopsy before beginning treatment to rule out cancer.
How is hyperplasia treated?
Hormone treatment with birth control pills or progesterone helps some women who have
hyperplasia.
Hysterectomy is often recommended to treat hyperplasia. Because some types of hyperplasia can
lead to cancer, your doctor will watch your condition carefully if you choose not to have a
hysterectomy.

The Great Depression of the 1930s in Canada
The Great Depression of the 1930s in Canada
The Great Depression of the 1930's is a benchmark for all depressions and recessions in the past and
in the future. In the booklet "The Great Depression of the 1930s in Canada" , Michiel Horn gives an
intellectual dissection of the events that occurred during the Great Depression. Michiel Horn's
approach leaves the reader with a foul taste for the Dirty Thirties. This essay will summarize
Michiel Horns key points as well as discuss the ability of Michiel Horn to report his findings.
Michiel Horn is currently the Chairman of the History Department at York University. His interests
in the Great Depression revolve around the history of taxation. Therefore, he is interested in making

As people were having fewer children at this time, the population growth of Canada slowed. In an
effort to keep jobs for Canadians, the government decided that it would reduce immigration. The
first group targeted was the Jewish people. Some Canadians even decided to go to the United States
in search of "greener pastures" . The movement of people from the country to cities also slowed.
This was because it was easier for people to subsist in the country where they could chop their own
firewood and live off the land. Life on the farm was actually not much better than in the city, as a
drought cost many farmers, particularly those in the west, their crops.
The political scene was dominated by a Liberal party that would not "commit a five cent piece
towards the cost of unemployment relief" . This eventually led to their defeat in the summer of
1930. The winner of the election was the Conservative party. Their goal was to get Canada back up
and running. In an effort to do so, they raised tariffs on imports and tried to protect national
interests. This actually had the opposite affect on the economy and pushed the country further into
economic hardship. The government around this time was also trying to balance the budget. In order
to balance the budget, they increased taxes which also had a detrimental affect on the economy.
After five years, the Conservatives were defeated due to unorganized leadership. The Liberals won
the election in 1935. Although

My Autobiography: Socialization And The Cycle Of Depression
In my autobiography, I went into detail about being biracial, open–minded, and depressed. I did
mention other traits, for instance being Buddhist, low–middle class, and being nineteen years of age.
I just focused more on the first three because I think they all went hand in hand. Being biracial
means I am combination of two different races. I used to hate being mixed and sometimes I still do,
but having this physical trait has helped me be more compassionate towards others who are
different. I always feel out of place when I'm with certain groups of people. Sometimes they'll make
sure to mention that I'm different than the rest of them. I think being biracial has helped me become
open–minded but is also a cause of my depression.
I have learned many things throughout this course. I knew about most of the topics discussed
throughout the class, but I only knew about them to a certain extent. Privilege and oppression were
words I knew of but everyone who talked about it had different definitions of the terms. Now, I do
know that majority of those peoples definitions were wrong.
Everything we've learned throughout this course has been interesting and important to me, but I
realized that I had more interest in the discussions about religious ... Show more content on

In a few of our readings for the class, we discussed the two cycles. The Cycle of Socialization is the
constant loop of discrimination that's not being resolved. It starts out at birth when the doctor tells
says what gender the baby is (Harro, 2013, pg.46). The Cycle of Liberation happens after you start
to realize things going on around you. The first step of this cycle is becoming more aware of what's
happening (Harro, 2013, pg.619). I think these cycles are very important to understand. We would
have a better society and community if we all could stop the Cycle of Socialization and get into that

The Meaning Of Life In Siddhartha
iddhartha LAP
Topic #8
Abid Ahmad
Everything we do in the world is absolutely pointless. We as humans are irrelevant specks in the
vast universe that go about our repetitive lives for no apparent reason. At the end of the day, it
makes no difference how much good or bad we do in the world. This is the ignorant view of the
world that fails to see the perfect harmony in which we all live our lives. The redundant cycles that
we try so hard to get away from are part of our overarching connectedness as humans. As parts of a
whole, all of us have a role to play in making our lives better for ourselves and others. Our role is
the very meaning of life, and we should embrace it wholeheartedly. The novel Siddhartha by
Hermann Hesse stresses this cyclical unification through various circular constructions throughout
Siddhartha's life. Siddhartha had to deal with many individual stages of his life that seemed
pointless. These cycles almost drove him to the point of suicide, but he was saved by the river which
acted as a symbol for his entire life, as a united whole. This was the gateway to his attainment of
enlightenment, allowing him to feel closer to everyone around him. Siddhartha began as an affluent
Brahmin's son, coveted by all close to him. His family and friends greatly admired the level of
intuition and intellect that Siddhartha had possessed. Govinda, his best friend, constantly adored him
and followed in his footsteps. In this life, Siddhartha began the

The Problems Of The California Dry Season

golfer in that he or she may have the capacity to play a shot from the bed or bank of the water

The dry season has substantially influenced both open and private greens. Programmed sprinkler
frameworks don 't keep running as frequently as they ought to. It takes 100,000 to one million
gallons of water for each week to keep a course fit as a fiddle. The fairways of the course get to be
dry and stained and grass turns out to be thin and scanty, influencing even a golfer 's swing. Greens
require additional care, however the absence of water influences the lie of the ball when the grass is
dried out a bit, and influences the way the ball rolls towards the hot dry spell circumstance in
California has strengthened over a time of two years. Late occasions show that the dry spell has
declined, with specialists depicting non–quantifiable downpour volume at the start of troublesome

Dominant part of the water assets are utilized as a part of farming practice. This implies
agriculturists will be specifically influenced by the dry season on the grounds that they rely on upon

Benefits of Triphasic Contraceptives
The Benefits of Triphasic Contraceptives A review of the benefits of triphasic combined oral
contraceptives when compared to today's low–dose monophasic alternatives. Introduction: Since
their introduction in 1961, oestrogen–progestogen combined oral contraceptive (COC) pills have
provided women with an effective and effortless means of contraception for 50 years [1]. Taken by
17% of all women of reproductive age, they are amongst the most widely prescribed drugs in the

After reaching maturation, the follicle undergoes ovulation; an event stimulated by a surge in
luteinising hormone release from the anterior pituitary gland (orange line). The remnant follicle
(now termed the corpus luteum) secretes progesterone (red line), which maintains the endometrial
lining and causes it to enter the luteal phase. With triphasic COC's, three incremental doses (phases
1–3) of progestogen (blue line) with (pink line)/without (dashed pink line) a phase 2 dose increase in
oestrogen are delivered over 21 days. This is followed by a 7–day placebo period, which induces
menstruation (placebo). Exogenous delivery of hormones in this way achieves contraception with
significantly lower doses of progestogen, whilst crudely mimicking endogenous increases in
oestrogen and progesterone. As such, it was hypothesised that the triphasic regimen would afford
various benefits over monophasic COC's. Contraceptive efficacy: The remarkable contraceptive
efficacy of COC's has been known for many years. Of the triphasic COC's currently available for
prescription in the U.K. (table. 1), TriNovum was found to have a pearl index[1] (PI) value of 1.0 in

Designer Babies and Fertilization Problems
Endometriosis– This condition is only present in women. It occurs when endometrial tissue (the
lining of the uterine which sheds each period), grows on the outside of the uterus and is attached to
reproductive or abdominal organs. This compromises normal functioning of the fallopian tubes
through blockage. Endometrial cells also occasionally secrete substances that may interfere with
sperm and egg interaction therefore preventing fertilization. Polycystic Ovary Symptom (PCOS) –
This condition is mainly caused by hormonal imbalance in which women make more androgens
than required. Androgens are a male hormone, produced by females as well. High levels of this
hormone can negatively affect the development and release of eggs during ovulation. A possible
theory to the cause of PCOS is a large amount of insulin in the body. Many women with PCOS have
an excess of insulin in their bodies which then goes towards production of androgen. Sperm
production problems– This is the most common cause of infertility in men. It occurs when low
numbers of sperm are made andor the sperm don't work properly. This could be for a number of
reasons such as; infections, varicocele and genetic issues. Infections may swell and or scar and
block the passage for sperm. A varicocele is the swelling of veins that empty the testicle. This
prevents normal cooling of the testicle and leads to reduced sperm count. Gamete intra–fallopian

The Great Depression Fashion
During the 1930's when the Great Depression took place, fewer people were sewing to make their
own clothing and it started to switch to clothes ready to wear when bought. Because of the stock
market crash, the clothing manufacturers had to look for ways to conserve money and still put out
product. They started going to cheaper materials to create clothing and cheaper ways to make the
clothing. Though not everyone was able to buy clothes and would just reuse material they had at
home. There were many hand–me down clothing for the children and people would sew their old
shirts to make underwear. Farmers would use their big sacks of flour or the sacks of livestock food
to re–create them into dresses for the girls. People during the depression were either making their
own clothes from old materials or if they had enough money the could go out and buy new clothes
but were made from cheaper material. The poor people during the depression wore very simple
clothes that were often their old clothes before the depression. If there was a problem with their
clothes, they would patch up their clothing with old socks or any material they could get their hands
on. Even though there was not a huge market for new clothing, there were still fashion designs that
were popular for those who can afford it. 1There were still fashion magazines being put out for
women during the depression and that's how people got their information on the latest fashions. The

The Medical Equipment Rental Industry
The market size of the medical equipment rental industry has seen a large increase over the past five
years. Starting in 2009, the market has seen an increase due to both a recession and the rising costs
of medical equipment (Turk). Because of both of these factors, medical facilities have been forced to
cut back and find new ways to save money. Through this industry, hospitals have begun to rent their
medical equipment rather that to buy it, saving the facilities money while not hurting patient care.
According to IBIS World, the medical equipment rental industry makes around a 1.3 billion dollar
profit each year as well as employing around twenty thousand employees (Turk). Furthermore, the
market is growing at 4.7 percent annually and is expected to grow even faster in future years (Turk).
While the medical equipment rental industry seems like it is targeted to one group of consumers the
market actually segmented into many different groups. The market is initially segmented based on
the type of device (Research). For instance, medical equipment industries would market surgical
equipment differently than home care medical equipment or digital equipment. In addition to
segmenting the market based on the type of equipment, the market is also segmented by the end user
(Research). When referring to end user the company will segment their market based on who is
going to use it. For example, the companies would market products that someone would use for in–

Improving The Standard And Effectiveness Of Education
ABSTRACT
Over the years, educators have laid emphasis on understanding factors that contribute to improving
the standard and effectiveness of education in impoverished neighborhoods. A lot of studies have
aimed to ascertain the benefits that various safety network programs have for at–risk children living
in poverty stricken areas of the country. This paper seeks to highlight the host of elements that have
a positive bearing on the academic outcome of children belonging to the poverty stricken counties in
the state of Ohio. The research will employ a qualitative method design and involve using semi–
structured interviews, observations and archival data to explore the teaching methodologies and
administrative measures that play a role in improving the effectiveness of schools in areas affected
by poverty.
The paper is designed to provide insight regarding the adverse effects that poverty has on education
and what could be done to remedy the situation, by addressing three distinct research questions.
Firstly it asks the question about what factors have a detrimental impact on the educational outcome
of high poverty states in the country. Secondly it seeks to determine how such factors serve as
barriers in the way of development for children belonging to less affluent families. Lastly, the paper
looks into that question of what administrative measures can be taken in order to effect a positive
change in the educational outcomes of children belonging to less affluent counties in

Currently, the medical equipment rental industry's competition consists of companies that actually
sell medical equipment to hospitals and other places. While the medical rental market is growing
fast, the industry has a low market share. Because of the low market share the industry has a hard
time keeping up with their competition. Additionally medical rental services appeal to mostly
smaller hospitals with smaller budgets. While small hospitals are a large part of the health care
industry the larger hospital takes up a large part. Because larger hospitals have larger budgets, it 's
easier to buy medical equipment rather that rent it. In order for the medical equipment rental
industry to overcome their competition they need to appeal to the larger hospitals in the industry.
While the medical equipment rental industry is a relativity new and growing market, the market
trend is going in the markets favor. Starting with the recession in 2008 medical facilities restructured
their businesses in order to compensate for their budget cuts (Turk). Because of the budget cuts, the
market trend has gone in favor of the medical equipment rental industry. This trend leads many
medical facilities to rent medical equipment rather than buy the equipment. Furthermore many
technologies in the medical equipment industry are within a higher price range and are always
changing. Due to the constant updating of medical equipment

Determinants Of The Crisis Of Colander 's A Manifesto For...
Though there are numerous determinants that resulted in the Financial Crisis of 2008, wage
stagnation for the majority of Americans and increasing income inequality are among the most
influential. The housing bubble that was fueled by subprime lending and indebtedness was a
subsequent result of these two determinants. This essay will analyze the two factors (income
inequality and wage stagnation) that contributed to the onset of the crisis, factors that are prolonging
the crisis––expressed from the position of Colander's "A Structural Stagnation Policy Dilemma" and
"A Manifesto for Economic Sense"––as well as provide a link between inequality and
unemployment. Ultimately, this analysis will evaluate several hypotheses to further identify ... Show

Moreover, as the top percentage of Americans accumulated more wealth, the remaining percentage
(primarily the middle–class) wages stagnated. This furthered the income inequality between the
wealthy elite––those who had the financial means to significantly influence politics––and the middle
and lower classes––those who struggled to maintain the basic welfare of their families and their
social standing. As the gap increased and financial policies began to benefit primarily the top
percent of wealthy Americans, the remaining percentages were forced to spend more for critical
services like education and health care even though their wages were stagnated. This resulted in
households spending larger portions of their incomes and saving less for the long run. Debt
accumulation for middle–class and lower–class households rose significantly in the decades prior to
the crisis. (Within the financial sector, debt rose from "22 percent of GDP in 1981 to 117 percent in
2008). As households spent more and saved less, they began relying heavily on loans and
speculation to sustain their spending. The housing market in the late 1990s and early 2000s became
the primary focus of spending––with banks giving out loans for houses far beyond the financial
means of the one's acquiring them. As J. D. Wisman asserted in Wage Stagnation, Rising Inequality,

The Boom And Bust Of The Housing Market Bubble
As a member of the Millennial's and as a student of economics, The Great Recession, the greatest
economic downturn we've seen in 70 years is truly an intriguing topic. It is the first economic crisis
that many of my generation can truly say we lived through. With the burst of the housing bubble and
the failure of various financial institutions, the United States was dragged kicking and screaming
from the prosperous age of nearly uninterrupted economic growth since the early eighties, into an
unemployment rate of over 9% and a decline in Real GDP in the first time in decades. Years after
the end of the recession we still reel from its effects. How did the fiscal crisis begin in the first
place? What institutions helped exasperate the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This led to the recession of 81–82 but managed to get inflation under 5% from the high double digits
it was under Nixon at the cost of a rather high unemployment rate of 10%. Many argue that this and
other policies under the Reagan administration known as Reagonomics, were what led to the
economic prosperity that we enjoyed in the 90's and 2000's. Rather than discuss what caused the
economic growth of the era, we examine a few of the effects it had on markets, especially housing.
The family home has always been a major part of the American dream, but it had an even bigger
role in the Great Recession. Under legislative pressure banks eased up on a lot of the loans that they
gave out. According to Peicuti (2014), "In the 2000s, the deregulation of the financial system and
development of the originate–to–distribute banking model led commercial banks to finance
subprime mortgages" (p.7). It then goes on to lists several characteristics that these borrowers may
have including, "relatively high default probability as evidenced by, for example, a credit bureau
risk... bankruptcy in the last five years... debt–service–to–income ratio of 50 percent or greater"
(p.7). All of this tells us the same story, these were risky loans to make. We've learned from class
that the interest rate is an indicator of the amount of risk on an asset. These loans however were not
properly assessed for the amount of risk on them. In short, the banks had taken on more risk than

Great Recession Essay
During the late 2000s, United States took a dire turn towards failure, as it experienced the longest
recession since World War II. There are many contributing factors that brought on the Great
Recession; however, the vital influences were the highly risky mortgage backed securitizations and
the failure of the rating agencies. Overall, the financial sectors were loosely regulated and fueled
with corruption, which led to years of scarring the economy, most importantly the people. As a
result, the real gross domestic product (GDP), which assesses the value of economic activity in a
nation including the inflation, received the largest decline, since post–war era (U.S. Bureau Of

For instance, one of the most well known indicators of a recession is the unemployment rate. The
downturn in the business cycle of the 2007 to 2009 delineates that individuals suffered from the
recession quickly and painfully. When a person becomes suddenly unemployed, he or she typically
relies on savings and the government, but the government was also experiencing financial
dilemmas. Additionally, studied have linked that as unemployment increases, the suicides in a
country also increase (Carey, 2012). Without a job, or an opportunity to find one, hard working
americans lost their ability to provide for themselves and their families. The long term
unemployment rose dramatically around the year 2008, all the way to 4.4%. According to the U.S.
Bureau of Labor Statistics, the long term unemployment was the highest in 2008, since 1948, and it
affected different demographics with various intensities (U.S. Bureau Of Labor Statistics, 2012). For
instance, the African American unemployment rate was higher than the white rate. Similarly,
manufacturing and construction industries experienced the biggest increase in unemployment;
"During the most recent recession... the private sector experienced a total of 235,000 establishment
deaths,"(U.S. Bureau Of Labor Statistics, 2012). The economy experienced mass layoffs,

The Process Of Meiosis And Mitosis
In order to better understand the process of meiosis and mitosis, students observed different types of
asci. The arrangement of spores was associated to whether crossing over occurred during meiosis 1.
We tried observing asci, from the mating plate that we did last lab, with a light microscope.
However, the class was unsuccessful and were told to look for images of asci on google images and
use these observations as our data. The observations obtained from google images, showed that 27
observations were made for asci of type 4:4, 19 for asci type 2:2:2:2 and 14 for asci of type 2:4:2
(Table IB–1). With these observations, we determined the map distance which was 27.5 map units
(Figure 5.4). Since asci of type 4:4 were observed more, crossing over occurred less, thus producing
less asci with different arrangements. Sordaria also undergo mitosis because the end result of
meiosis are four haploid cells and haploid cells cannot divide by meiosis. Lastly, since more asci
with type 4:4 were observed, the hypothesis was supported–more black ascus were also observed
which supported the second hypothesis. Although students were not successful in observing asci
during the lab, students were still able to understand the importance of meiosis and relate it to real
life issues. INTRODUCTION

How Does Depression Stop?
Imagine living a life full of pain and unhappiness that is so intense that everyday life itself stops.
Many would say that would never happen to them, but millions of people live this life every day. It's
not by choice and many people don't do anything to cause these feelings. The world views
depression as a mindset, but it is a disease that cannot be "turned off". Depression is an evil illness
that destroys lives and even families. The question that many ask is "how does depression stop?"
Sadly, it's a complicated illness that is difficult to understand and extremely hard to outrun. Like
many things in life, to fully understand something, you must know every aspect of it. Depression
has not developed recently; it has been around for quite some time. "Historical documents written
by healers, philosophers and writers throughout the ages, point to the long–standing existence of
depression as a health problem. Initially depression was called "melancholia". The earliest accounts
of melancholia appeared in ancient Mesopotamian text in
Page 2 the second millennium B.C." (Nemade, Reiss and Dombeck). Back then people that
experienced depression was sent to a priest because they believed it was a spiritual illness. Their
treatment of choice included exorcisms and other more barbaric strategies such as drowning and
burning. Some were even tied up or locked away in "lunatic asylums". As time went on, it was
believed that the disease could be inherited, and because of this many

Accomplish Victory
What is a recession? A recession is declared once the GDP is negative for two consecutive quarters
or more, a few quarters before is actually the start of an economic downturn. GDP is defined as
gross domestic product and that basically means the total value of goods the United States has
produced, for the year. The first few signs of a recession are negative growth followed by a
miniature positive growth. Because American citizens don't have the money to spend they don't
spend and the consumer spending aspect of the economy takes a drastic downfall. Unemployment
rates also have play in determining a recession (22). Proper money management and finances could

Then depending on the person they could take years to pay off that one bill out of the other 20 that
they have. So what I am saying here is that if many people do this then, the economy will inflate,
causing the value of money to go down prices to go up and so on and so forth.
One of the hardest and most difficult economic recessions in history was accomplished using
Keynesian economics by John Fredrick Kennedy. "Keynesian economics is a theory of total
spending in the economy (called aggregate demand) and its effects on output and inflation. Although
the term has been used (and abused) to describe many things over the years" there is six principal
systems or beliefs that are what a Keynesian believes. (20) A Keynesian believes that total demand
is inclined by a swarm of financial decisions public and private. The public decisions include,
financial and economic policies. Nearly all Keynesians and monetarists believe that both financial
and economic policies affect total demand. Secondly changes in total demand have their affect on
output and on employment not on prices. Keynesians believe that it must get worse for it to get
better. Also they believe that we live in the short run of things not in the long run. Keynes's famous
statement, "In the long run, we are all dead." Thirdly Keynesians believe that prices, and more

Community Assessment : York County, Pennsylvania
Community Assessment – York County, Pennsylvania
A major influence on health in a community is the availability of services and opportunities within
the neighborhood. Public health can be further influenced by the social environments. Accessibility
to health care along with education and employment opportunities are fundamental factors to be
considered (Riegelman & Kirkwood, 2015). These elements create both advantages and
disadvantages for those living within the neighborhood. If we want to improve public health
outcomes, we must consider and evaluate these along with many other contributing factors.
Setting Description York County, Pennsylvania is an urban community which, according to the US
Census, covers 904.18 square miles with an average of 481.1 persons per square mile (State and
County QuickFacts). The county is made up of approximately 73 cities, townships, and boroughs
ranging in size. York City is the largest population of 43935 while Yorkana borough is smallest with
a population of only 229. There are two hospitals as well as several urgent care and outpatients
healthcare facilities.
Demographics
The US Census estimates York County population at 440,755 (State and County QuickFacts). The
bulk of the population, 56 percent, falls within the age range of 18–64. This closely corresponds
with the state of Pennsylvania as well as the US statistics for the age of population. Additionally,
only 15.9 percent of the county is over the age of 65. Furthermore,

Effects Of Birth Control On Children
When I was sixteen years old I asked my dad if he was okay with me going on birth control.
Naturally he thought the worst, but that had nothing to do with why I wanted it. The reason that
most female teens think about birth control is because of premenstrual syndrome –– a condition
which causes migraines, cramps, and mood swings. Many people, like my father, disapprove of
teens using birth control for moral and/ or religious reasons. Parents do not want their children to
have birth control because they often feel that it is inappropriate and against their beliefs. Teens
should be able to have easy access to birth control to assist with premenstrual syndrome, prevent
unwanted pregnancies, and gain knowledge about safe sex. Secondly, the cost of birth control is
becoming cheaper, so the financial issue is becoming less of a problem and free birth control is
helping to drastically lower unwanted teen pregnancies and abortions. In New York State, birth
control has become free for everyone, regardless of personal health insurance. On another note,
comprehensive sex education regarding birth control, as well as how to use it effectively, can help
teens more because if they become sexually active without knowing the risks, or how to effectively
use birth control, this creates a greater risk of sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted
pregnancies.
Why do teens want birth control? Most teens want to be protected from pregnancy and sexually
transmitted diseases if they

The Global Financial Crisis And The Macro Economy
Introduction
The global financial crisis has attracted considerable attention in recent literature. It is well known
that the true origins of this financial crisis is that the over–borrowing of US households, especially
to finance housing. It had serious affected the financial sector and the macro–economy. According to
Shiller (2007), the main reason of the sub–prime mortgage crisis and the worldwide economic and
financial crisis of 2007–2009 is the housing bubble. He also believes that the preceding bubble
created dynamics and the dynamics of the crisis were self–perpetuating, although in the opposite
direction. From the literature, we can see that conventional housing economics research virtually

1. Housing wealth
The housing wealth refers to the market value of all residential capital stock, no matter rented or
owned. It is also an important component of national wealth. In most developed economies, housing
wealth takes up almost half of household wealth. The figure below shows this phenomenal in the
United States. The data selected from 1952 to 2008.

2. Housing wealth & GDP
Compare housing wealth and GDP, we can see that housing wealth is larger than GDP. Housing
wealth also fluctuates over time. Figure 2 illustrates the ratio of nominal housing wealth to nominal
GDP in the US. From the figure, we can find that the ratio of housing wealth to GDP has averaged
around 1.5 between 1952 and 2008. However, it has moved dramatically throughout this period. At
the beginning of these periods, it was equal to 1.28; we can see the lowest value happen in 1962 and
in 2005 it reaches the highest value of 2.26. It is at the peak of the recent housing boom. Figure 2:

Research on the Cell Cycle of an Onion Root Tip
Introduction:
Cell cycle is a series of sequenced events in a Eukaryotic (a cell with a nucleus and membrane–
bounded organelles) from its origin until its division to produce two daughter cells. There are
different forms of cell division: mitosis: an asexual division that produces daughter nuclei with the
exact copies of the parent nuclei and Meiosis; cell division that reduces the number of chromosomes
to produce specialized cells called gametes (sex cells) that produces half the number of chromosome
of the parent cell. Cell cycle is divided in three major steps: interphase, mitosis, and cytokinesis.
During interphase step, the cell produces proteins particular cells need to function properly.
Interphase is separated into three phases: G1 phase where most cell's organelles duplicate leading
the cell to grow and expand, Synthesis phase where the DNA in the chromosome replicate, and G2
phase where the proteins are synthesized preparing mitosis for cell division. Due to the numerous
activities going on, the cell spends a lot of time in interphase. Next major step of the cell cycle is the
mitotic (M) phase, during which the cell splits into two distinct cells, often called "daughter cells".
Mitosis is accomplished during four stages: prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase. During
prophase, the replicated chromosomes condense, so they can move around freely, nuclear envelopes,
the membrane that surrounds the nucleus scatters, and spindle protein structures called

idea of what accounting information was. After having Professor Carothers for previous accounting
classes, I knew it would be a tough class but the knowledge I would gain would be well worth it and
everlasting. Throughout this semester, I have learned a great deal of information, because of this it is
hard to talk about everything. I decided instead of talking about everything I learned I would choose
the topics I believe will be beneficial for later use, whether in school or at a job. The important
topics I chose are; creativity, interviewing, cycles, frauds and errors, controls, and flowcharts. The
proof of what I learned in this paper is the information stated in the following paragraphs in this
paper. Some of the information stated in this paper was obtained from the sources posted on D2L for
the AIS class of fall 2016 which is documented in my sources on the last page. The first and most
emphasized topics in the class was creativity. I learned that creativity does not stop once you hit a
certain age and is also not just for artists. Creativity is present in all jobs and varies from job to job.
In this class I learned that creativity consists of five parts. First, is to evaluate the problem. Second,
is to identify current knowledge. Third, is brainstorm how the current knowledge does or does not fit
the problem. Fourth, develop solutions using the knowledge that fits into

Black Tuesday

  • 1. Black Tuesday The stock market crash, October 29, 1929 this is also known as Black Tuesday. The Great Depression was an economic slump in North America and Europe. The industrialized Western world had experienced the most ruthless and prolonged depression. Cinderella Man is only one example of how families struggle and overcame the great depression. You will see how this effective many Americans. Why the stock market crashed, was due to two factors, economic and financial. For example economic factors where, poor distribution of wealth, many consumers relied on credit, credit dried up, consumer spending dropped and industries struggled. Financial factors were a threat to the stock market rise in the mid–1920s. Speculation in stock ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In view of the fact that consumers are not purchasing as much food, farmers are struggling in saving their farms. Also, the drought or also known as the dust storms are contributing to this reason. Since people were not buying as much the farmers could not afford to keep the farms, and the drought was making it even more difficult to grow food. Therefore, unable to make payments they would either file for bankruptcy or may be foreclosed. With these failures came unemployment, this is cause by not having enough jobs for people. The unemployment rate rose up to 25 percent, some areas where even higher than that. Hoovervilles and hoboes where the new social groups created by unemployment. Hoovervilles are people who lived in shacks on the out skirts of towns or parks to accommodate the homeless. Hoboes were people who took to the road. They would travel from town to town in search of work, food and housing. A lot of them would try to travel by boarding a moving train this was extremely dangerous. Hoboes develop a language all to their own to tell each other of honest and dishonest opportunities. The Great Depression took a highly emotional toll on every American. The depression affected Jim Braddock and his family in many ways. One way was he could not get work do to his hand been broken from boxing. Jim was not able to afford the essentials to survive (i.e. food, electricity and medical). This was a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The United States Is Facing A State Of Stagnation Staples is a large enough company that despite negative economic conditions staples can still thrive. The United States is facing a state of stagnation. Despite heading towards a state of stagnation staples can aggressively pursue new markets and new areas to grow. Normally the economy goes through ups and downs in periods of six to twelve years. According to the capitalist theories a trade/monetary based society will always be heading in an upwards direction with normal economic fluctuation. In a state of stagnation, an economy doesn't grow and instead stays about the same or slowly declines over a long period of time. In a stagnant economy normal fluctuations do occur but there is no real growth happening. This stagnant economy comes from many different factors. Though our population is still growing our educated working class is shrinking in the work force with the baby booming generation starting retirement. Our population is still increasing due to immigration, not reproduction inside the country. (1), (2) The amount of debt currently owed to other countries is another reason for our pending stagnation. Currently our countries debt is at almost eighteen trillion dollars, about fifty six thousand dollars per citizen or about one hundred fifty six thousand dollars of debt per tax payer (3). Right now one of the few strategies the United States has is to combat their debt is to print money and increase inflation faster than the debt grows. By doing this ... Benefits and Downsides of Sharing Economy Now that the most common claims and rumors about the sharing economy were discussed in a bit more detail, and some advantages and disadvantages were already identified, the following chapter takes again a closer look at them. The purpose of this chapter is primarily directed towards the possibility to predict the future, since depending on which side outweighs the other, the future prognosis will correspondingly modify. In the following, by and large, a distinction between the different types of the sharing economy will not be made, it is intended to serve as an overall overview. Above all, Uber and Airbnb, as the probably most well–known platform providers, are often used for illustrative purposes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All in all, a picture of unfair competition stands out, which needs to be reduced unconditionally. Real Business Cycles Hypothesis Sees Cycles Introduction Real Business Cycles hypothesis sees cycles as starting in frictionless splendidly focused economies with for the most part finish markets subject to genuine stuns (irregular changes in innovation or efficiency), it makes the contention that cycles are predictable with aggressive general harmony situations in which all operators are levelheaded maximizers (The Economist). In opposition to what Keynesian, Monetarist, and new traditional business analysts trusted, RBC scholars, beginning with Nelson and Plosser in 1982, found that the theory that GDP development takes after an arbitrary walk can 't be rejected. They contended that a large portion of the adjustments in GDP were perpetual, and that yield development would not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Changes in the work supply or livelihood. RBC models were for the most part fruitful in representing diligence and co–movement, yet less effective in offering persuading clarifications for changes in occupation (Real Business Cycle Theory). The Baxter and King paper, "Fiscal Policy in General Equilibrium" concentrates on four exemplary financial approach tests inside a quantitatively confined neoclassical model. The creators ' primary discoveries are as per the following: lasting changes in government buys can prompt short–run and long–run yield multipliers that surpass one; perpetual changes in government buys instigate bigger impacts than transitory changes; the financing choice is quantitatively more critical than the asset expense of changes in government buys; and open venture affects private yield and speculation. These discoveries stem from critical element collaborations of capital and work truant in prior harmony investigations of monetary arrangement (Baxter King 1993). In the event that business cycles are brought about for the most part by changes in efficiency, instead of by money related and budgetary unsettling influences, what part do financial and monetary arrangements play? The intrathymic T–cell development constitutes the pathophysiological framework consisting of the basic mechanisms that lead to pathogenesis of T– cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (Haydu, 2014). a) Mode of action of the drugs Allopurinol This drug acts by inhibiting the enzyme xanthine oxidase, which is required for the oxidation of hypoxanthine and xanthine, leading to the formation of uric acid. Inhibition of uric acid metabolism results in an increase in the quantities of both hypoxanthine and xanthine. This drug is used to handle hyperuricemia in some disease such as goat and ... It also counteracts the antiemetic effects of 5–HT3receptor antagonists (Harousseau, 2006). (However, the exact method of Dexamethasone's action still is unknown) Vincristine This is a mitotic inhibitor that acts by binding to the tubulin dimmers, thus blocking the assembly of microtubule structures, which results in the inhibition of cell mitosis in the metaphase. It targets all the rapidly dividing cells thus inhibiting both cancerous cells and the bone marrow (Graf, 1996). Daunorubicin Daunorubicin is an anti–tumour drug (anthrocycline), which is originated from streptomyes coeruleorubidus, which is mainly used for acute non lymphocytic Leukaemia. It mechanism of action involves the intercalation of DNA, thus inhibiting macromolecular biosynthesis. It inhibits the enzyme topoisomerase II, which is responsible for relaxing the supercoils in DNA. It stabilises the topoisomerase II complex after it has un–winded the DNA for replication. This complex prevents the two strands from coming together and sealing, thus preventing replication and resulting in the induction of apoptosis (Pang, 2013). • 21. Analyzing Cyclical Steam Injections Of A Heavy Oil Reservoir For our senior project, we analyzed cyclical steam injections in a heavy oil reservoir using reservoir simulations. We began the project as though we had been contracted to analyze a cyclical steam injection project in a pay–zone similar to the Clearwater formation in Cold Lake, Alberta. In this heavy, dead oil reservoir the facilities, injectors, and producer are already set up in the field with a seven spot orientation. The company wants further analysis on the project once the market declined, requesting reservoir simulations be conducted over a six year period before proceeding. Through the program CMG STARS, we were able to simulate production in a field with similar characteristics, employing field data from technical papers referenced in this paper. The complex equations simultaneously solved in CMG STARS including multiphase fluid flow and conservation equations make the program an invaluable reservoir evaluation tool. Sensitivity analysis was conducted to monitor the production responses to changes in steam injection parameters, compiling over 40 simulations. The injection was optimized with a total of 35 simulations after identifying the most significant parameters impacting production. Net present values and cumulative production of oil and water were analyzed to construct a recommendation for the project. In this paper, we will discuss the model construction, sensitivity analysis, optimization, and economic analysis in greater detail. Although the constraints of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Unequal Democracy By Larry Bartle In "Unequal Democracy" written by Larry Bartle focuses on how politics have influenced the growing gap between the rich and poor in America. Bartle argues that the gap has resulted from policy choices dominated by partisan ideologies and interest of the wealthy, specifically under the Republican Party, while Democrats have managed to slightly decrease the gap. Bartle sheds light on how poor voters have a disadvantage in which wealthier voters are more affluent to political leaders. In addition, Bartle examines whether voting patterns of voters have contributed to the growing economic inequality, and he concludes voters do not weigh more into social and cultural issues; rather Republic presidents are good at timing income growth to garner voters. The political environment has essentially influenced economy, in result has led to a growing economic gap between the rich and poor, which is a national and state issue that must be addressed. Education is essential to attain social mobility, however students face difficult obstacles. Even though we have laws like No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), however many students that come from low social class families do not have equal opportunities as students that come from higher income households. NCLB is encouraging on its face, but it does not address the unequal distribution of funds for districts. NCLB set standards in which students must achieve scores on standardized test rather than having access to equal opportunities, in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Decade of Despair: Winnebago County During the Great... The book I have chosen to review is Decade of Despair: Winnebago County During the Great Depression 1929–1939. Authors are Werner E. Braatz and Thomas J. Rowland. Copyright 2009 by University Press of America. Published Lanham, Maryland 20706. ISBN–13: 978–0761846406. The stock market crash of October 1929 drastically affected the economic growth of the entire United States. In Wisconsin the attitudes of many changed and several began to devise plans on surviving the worst depression in the Nation's history. Wisconsin, like many other states suffered as factories began to close, wages dropped, and unemployment became even more common. The effect of the stock market crash was all felt at once, giving those little to no time to prepare for it. To help cope with the depression many companies began advertising to half price or reduced price items, these items consisted of anything from food to cars. Throughout the next month employment for unskilled labor began to dry up leaving few job opportunities for those not a trained. This was just the start of what was about to come. For the next ten years Winnebago County and the entire United States would continue to suffer in this period known as The Great Depression. The author's main purpose in writing this book was to explain what went on in Winnebago County during The Great Depression. They discussed issues such as unemployment, debt relief, and slow industry during the depression and how those living in Winnebago County ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Cyclical History: One Of The Five Philosophies Of History If you look closely at history of the world, a person could believe that civilization moves in a cyclical form. Cyclical history is one of the five philosophies of history. Everything is born raises to maturity followed by a decline and then ends in death and then reborn again, a circular form. This circular theory is seen in: seasons, life, machinery, civilizations and in culture. Yet, a cycle doesn't have to last for a day, a year, it could be 20 years or even 12,000 years. In some incidents, it is not known whether the cycle is at the end or at the beginning. Many cultures rely on cyclical history to show where we are in the cycle. Many cultures use cyclical history to describe the past. In China, history is based on dynasties. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the philosophies is called linear history. This is a theory that life starts as creation and proceeds down a line to judgement day. This is especially noticeable in Judo–Christian religion. Each event or moment even though similar is different in some way. The events will never end the same. The third philosophy is progress of history, this theory is where human condition has improved so much and will continue to improve with the aid of technology and medicine. To give this theory some validation, people are taller, stronger, and we do live longer than before. The four philosophy is historicism, which by Gianmbattista Viso, means history was determined by laws and the belief that understanding people and cultures requires an understanding events. An example of this would be: what happen 200 years ago formed with the developing of the United States is why we are here today. The last philosophy is Marxism which implies that everyone labors for his basic needs which in other words–historical materialism. This theory is based on the changes in economic and pollical programs. Historical materialism presumes that the social structure and the economy are chiefly influenced by changes in material conditions (such as technology, forces of production, necessities of life). Everyone has their opinion on how history was created, yet I didn't give you my opinion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Great Depression of the 1930s in Canada The Great Depression of the 1930s in Canada The Great Depression of the 1930's is a benchmark for all depressions and recessions in the past and in the future. In the booklet "The Great Depression of the 1930s in Canada" , Michiel Horn gives an intellectual dissection of the events that occurred during the Great Depression. Michiel Horn's approach leaves the reader with a foul taste for the Dirty Thirties. This essay will summarize Michiel Horns key points as well as discuss the ability of Michiel Horn to report his findings. In an effort to keep jobs for Canadians, the government decided that it would reduce immigration. The first group targeted was the Jewish people. Some Canadians even decided to go to the United States in search of "greener pastures" . The movement of people from the country to cities also slowed. This was because it was easier for people to subsist in the country where they could chop their own firewood and live off the land. Life on the farm was actually not much better than in the city, as a drought cost many farmers, particularly those in the west, their crops. The political scene was dominated by a Liberal party that would not "commit a five cent piece towards the cost of unemployment relief" . This eventually led to their defeat in the summer of 1930. The winner of the election was the Conservative party. Their goal was to get Canada back up and running. In an effort to do so, they raised tariffs on imports and tried to protect national interests. This actually had the opposite affect on the economy and pushed the country further into economic hardship. The government around this time was also trying to balance the budget. In order to balance the budget, they increased taxes which also had a detrimental affect on the economy. After five years, the Conservatives were defeated due to unorganized leadership. I did mention other traits, for instance being Buddhist, low–middle class, and being nineteen years of age. I just focused more on the first three because I think they all went hand in hand. Being biracial means I am combination of two different races. I used to hate being mixed and sometimes I still do, but having this physical trait has helped me be more compassionate towards others who are different. I always feel out of place when I'm with certain groups of people. Sometimes they'll make sure to mention that I'm different than the rest of them. I think being biracial has helped me become open–minded but is also a cause of my depression. I have learned many things throughout this course. I knew about most of the topics discussed throughout the class, but I only knew about them to a certain extent. Privilege and oppression were words I knew of but everyone who talked about it had different definitions of the terms. Now, I do know that majority of those peoples definitions were wrong. Everything we've learned throughout this course has been interesting and important to me, but I realized that I had more interest in the discussions about religious ... The Cycle of Liberation happens after you start to realize things going on around you. The first step of this cycle is becoming more aware of what's happening (Harro, 2013, pg.619). • 49. The Meaning Of Life In Siddhartha iddhartha LAP Topic #8 Abid Ahmad Everything we do in the world is absolutely pointless. We as humans are irrelevant specks in the vast universe that go about our repetitive lives for no apparent reason. At the end of the day, it makes no difference how much good or bad we do in the world. This is the ignorant view of the world that fails to see the perfect harmony in which we all live our lives. The redundant cycles that we try so hard to get away from are part of our overarching connectedness as humans. As parts of a whole, all of us have a role to play in making our lives better for ourselves and others. Our role is the very meaning of life, and we should embrace it wholeheartedly. The novel Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse stresses this cyclical unification through various circular constructions throughout Siddhartha's life. Siddhartha had to deal with many individual stages of his life that seemed pointless. These cycles almost drove him to the point of suicide, but he was saved by the river which acted as a symbol for his entire life, as a united whole. This was the gateway to his attainment of enlightenment, allowing him to feel closer to everyone around him. Siddhartha began as an affluent Brahmin's son, coveted by all close to him. His family and friends greatly admired the level of intuition and intellect that Siddhartha had possessed. Govinda, his best friend, constantly adored him and followed in his footsteps. Benefits of Triphasic Contraceptives The Benefits of Triphasic Contraceptives A review of the benefits of triphasic combined oral contraceptives when compared to today's low–dose monophasic alternatives. Introduction: Since their introduction in 1961, oestrogen–progestogen combined oral contraceptive (COC) pills have provided women with an effective and effortless means of contraception for 50 years [1]. Taken by 17% of all women of reproductive age, they are amongst the most widely prescribed drugs in the U.K. today[2]. Hitherto, earlier COC formulations have been associated with harmful dose– dependent side effects [3]. After reaching maturation, the follicle undergoes ovulation; an event stimulated by a surge in luteinising hormone release from the anterior pituitary gland (orange line). The remnant follicle (now termed the corpus luteum) secretes progesterone (red line), which maintains the endometrial lining and causes it to enter the luteal phase. With triphasic COC's, three incremental doses (phases 1–3) of progestogen (blue line) with (pink line)/without (dashed pink line) a phase 2 dose increase in oestrogen are delivered over 21 days. This is followed by a 7–day placebo period, which induces menstruation (placebo). Exogenous delivery of hormones in this way achieves contraception with significantly lower doses of progestogen, whilst crudely mimicking endogenous increases in oestrogen and progesterone. As such, it was hypothesised that the triphasic regimen would afford various benefits over monophasic COC's. Contraceptive efficacy: The remarkable contraceptive efficacy of COC's has been known for many years. Of the triphasic COC's currently available for prescription in the U.K. (table. 1), TriNovum was found to have a pearl index[1] (PI) value of 1.0 in a large phase III trial (n=4000) and Logynon a PI value of 0.33 (n=3546) [11–12]. • 61. Designer Babies and Fertilization Problems Endometriosis– This condition is only present in women. It occurs when endometrial tissue (the lining of the uterine which sheds each period), grows on the outside of the uterus and is attached to reproductive or abdominal organs. This compromises normal functioning of the fallopian tubes through blockage. Endometrial cells also occasionally secrete substances that may interfere with sperm and egg interaction therefore preventing fertilization. Polycystic Ovary Symptom (PCOS) – This condition is mainly caused by hormonal imbalance in which women make more androgens than required. Androgens are a male hormone, produced by females as well. High levels of this hormone can negatively affect the development and release of eggs during ovulation. A possible theory to the cause of PCOS is a large amount of insulin in the body. Many women with PCOS have an excess of insulin in their bodies which then goes towards production of androgen. Sperm production problems– This is the most common cause of infertility in men. It occurs when low numbers of sperm are made andor the sperm don't work properly. This could be for a number of reasons such as; infections, varicocele and genetic issues. Infections may swell and or scar and block the passage for sperm. A varicocele is the swelling of veins that empty the testicle. This prevents normal cooling of the testicle and leads to reduced sperm count. Gamete intra–fallopian transfer This procedure consists of removing a women's egg then ... The Great Depression Fashion During the 1930's when the Great Depression took place, fewer people were sewing to make their own clothing and it started to switch to clothes ready to wear when bought. Because of the stock market crash, the clothing manufacturers had to look for ways to conserve money and still put out product. They started going to cheaper materials to create clothing and cheaper ways to make the clothing. Though not everyone was able to buy clothes and would just reuse material they had at home. There were many hand–me down clothing for the children and people would sew their old shirts to make underwear. Farmers would use their big sacks of flour or the sacks of livestock food to re–create them into dresses for the girls. People during the depression were either making their own clothes from old materials or if they had enough money the could go out and buy new clothes but were made from cheaper material. The poor people during the depression wore very simple clothes that were often their old clothes before the depression. If there was a problem with their clothes, they would patch up their clothing with old socks or any material they could get their hands on. Even though there was not a huge market for new clothing, there were still fashion designs that were popular for those who can afford it. 1There were still fashion magazines being put out for women during the depression and that's how people got their information on the latest fashions. Though there are numerous determinants that resulted in the Financial Crisis of 2008, wage stagnation for the majority of Americans and increasing income inequality are among the most influential. The housing bubble that was fueled by subprime lending and indebtedness was a subsequent result of these two determinants. This essay will analyze the two factors (income inequality and wage stagnation) that contributed to the onset of the crisis, factors that are prolonging the crisis––expressed from the position of Colander's "A Structural Stagnation Policy Dilemma" and "A Manifesto for Economic Sense"––as well as provide a link between inequality and unemployment. Moreover, as the top percentage of Americans accumulated more wealth, the remaining percentage (primarily the middle–class) wages stagnated. This furthered the income inequality between the wealthy elite––those who had the financial means to significantly influence politics––and the middle and lower classes––those who struggled to maintain the basic welfare of their families and their social standing. As the gap increased and financial policies began to benefit primarily the top percent of wealthy Americans, the remaining percentages were forced to spend more for critical services like education and health care even though their wages were stagnated. This resulted in households spending larger portions of their incomes and saving less for the long run. Debt accumulation for middle–class and lower–class households rose significantly in the decades prior to the crisis. (Within the financial sector, debt rose from "22 percent of GDP in 1981 to 117 percent in 2008). As households spent more and saved less, they began relying heavily on loans and speculation to sustain their spending. The Boom And Bust Of The Housing Market Bubble As a member of the Millennial's and as a student of economics, The Great Recession, the greatest economic downturn we've seen in 70 years is truly an intriguing topic. It is the first economic crisis that many of my generation can truly say we lived through. With the burst of the housing bubble and the failure of various financial institutions, the United States was dragged kicking and screaming from the prosperous age of nearly uninterrupted economic growth since the early eighties, into an unemployment rate of over 9% and a decline in Real GDP in the first time in decades. Many argue that this and other policies under the Reagan administration known as Reagonomics, were what led to the economic prosperity that we enjoyed in the 90's and 2000's. Rather than discuss what caused the economic growth of the era, we examine a few of the effects it had on markets, especially housing. The family home has always been a major part of the American dream, but it had an even bigger role in the Great Recession. Under legislative pressure banks eased up on a lot of the loans that they gave out. According to Peicuti (2014), "In the 2000s, the deregulation of the financial system and development of the originate–to–distribute banking model led commercial banks to finance subprime mortgages" (p.7). It then goes on to lists several characteristics that these borrowers may have including, "relatively high default probability as evidenced by, for example, a credit bureau risk... bankruptcy in the last five years... debt–service–to–income ratio of 50 percent or greater" (p.7). All of this tells us the same story, these were risky loans to make. We've learned from class that the interest rate is an indicator of the amount of risk on an asset. • 106. The Process Of Meiosis And Mitosis In order to better understand the process of meiosis and mitosis, students observed different types of asci. The arrangement of spores was associated to whether crossing over occurred during meiosis 1. We tried observing asci, from the mating plate that we did last lab, with a light microscope. However, the class was unsuccessful and were told to look for images of asci on google images and use these observations as our data. The observations obtained from google images, showed that 27 observations were made for asci of type 4:4, 19 for asci type 2:2:2:2 and 14 for asci of type 2:4:2 (Table IB–1). With these observations, we determined the map distance which was 27.5 map units (Figure 5.4). Since asci of type 4:4 were observed more, crossing over occurred less, thus producing less asci with different arrangements. Sordaria also undergo mitosis because the end result of meiosis are four haploid cells and haploid cells cannot divide by meiosis. Lastly, since more asci with type 4:4 were observed, the hypothesis was supported–more black ascus were also observed which supported the second hypothesis. Although students were not successful in observing asci during the lab, students were still able to understand the importance of meiosis and relate it to real life issues. INTRODUCTION Meiosis is a two part cell division (meiosis 1 and meiosis 2) process that produces four daughter cells, each having half the number of chromosomes of the parent cell–such as the product of ... • 110. How Does Depression Stop? Imagine living a life full of pain and unhappiness that is so intense that everyday life itself stops. Many would say that would never happen to them, but millions of people live this life every day. It's not by choice and many people don't do anything to cause these feelings. The world views depression as a mindset, but it is a disease that cannot be "turned off". Depression is an evil illness that destroys lives and even families. The question that many ask is "how does depression stop?" Sadly, it's a complicated illness that is difficult to understand and extremely hard to outrun. Like many things in life, to fully understand something, you must know every aspect of it. Depression has not developed recently; it has been around for quite some time. "Historical documents written by healers, philosophers and writers throughout the ages, point to the long–standing existence of depression as a health problem. Initially depression was called "melancholia". The earliest accounts of melancholia appeared in ancient Mesopotamian text in Page 2 the second millennium B.C." (Nemade, Reiss and Dombeck). Back then people that experienced depression was sent to a priest because they believed it was a spiritual illness. Their treatment of choice included exorcisms and other more barbaric strategies such as drowning and burning. Some were even tied up or locked away in "lunatic asylums". As time went on, it was believed that the disease could be inherited, and because of this many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 114. Accomplish Victory What is a recession? A recession is declared once the GDP is negative for two consecutive quarters or more, a few quarters before is actually the start of an economic downturn. GDP is defined as gross domestic product and that basically means the total value of goods the United States has produced, for the year. The first few signs of a recession are negative growth followed by a miniature positive growth. Because American citizens don't have the money to spend they don't spend and the consumer spending aspect of the economy takes a drastic downfall. Unemployment rates also have play in determining a recession (22). Proper money management and finances could bring an economy out of a recession. There are major flaws in the way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then depending on the person they could take years to pay off that one bill out of the other 20 that they have. So what I am saying here is that if many people do this then, the economy will inflate, causing the value of money to go down prices to go up and so on and so forth. One of the hardest and most difficult economic recessions in history was accomplished using Keynesian economics by John Fredrick Kennedy. "Keynesian economics is a theory of total spending in the economy (called aggregate demand) and its effects on output and inflation. Although the term has been used (and abused) to describe many things over the years" there is six principal systems or beliefs that are what a Keynesian believes. (20) A Keynesian believes that total demand is inclined by a swarm of financial decisions public and private. The public decisions include, financial and economic policies. Nearly all Keynesians and monetarists believe that both financial and economic policies affect total demand. Secondly changes in total demand have their affect on output and on employment not on prices. Keynesians believe that it must get worse for it to get better. Also they believe that we live in the short run of things not in the long run. Keynes's famous statement, "In the long run, we are all dead." Thirdly Keynesians believe that prices, and more ... Community Assessment : York County, Pennsylvania Community Assessment – York County, Pennsylvania A major influence on health in a community is the availability of services and opportunities within the neighborhood. Public health can be further influenced by the social environments. Accessibility to health care along with education and employment opportunities are fundamental factors to be considered (Riegelman & Kirkwood, 2015). These elements create both advantages and disadvantages for those living within the neighborhood. If we want to improve public health outcomes, we must consider and evaluate these along with many other contributing factors. Setting Description York County, Pennsylvania is an urban community which, according to the US Census, covers 904.18 square miles with an average of 481.1 persons per square mile (State and County QuickFacts). The county is made up of approximately 73 cities, townships, and boroughs ranging in size. York City is the largest population of 43935 while Yorkana borough is smallest with a population of only 229. There are two hospitals as well as several urgent care and outpatients healthcare facilities. Demographics The US Census estimates York County population at 440,755 (State and County QuickFacts). The bulk of the population, 56 percent, falls within the age range of 18–64. This closely corresponds with the state of Pennsylvania as well as the US statistics for the age of population. • 126. Effects Of Birth Control On Children When I was sixteen years old I asked my dad if he was okay with me going on birth control. Naturally he thought the worst, but that had nothing to do with why I wanted it. The reason that most female teens think about birth control is because of premenstrual syndrome –– a condition which causes migraines, cramps, and mood swings. Many people, like my father, disapprove of teens using birth control for moral and/ or religious reasons. Parents do not want their children to have birth control because they often feel that it is inappropriate and against their beliefs. Teens should be able to have easy access to birth control to assist with premenstrual syndrome, prevent unwanted pregnancies, and gain knowledge about safe sex. Secondly, the cost of birth control is becoming cheaper, so the financial issue is becoming less of a problem and free birth control is helping to drastically lower unwanted teen pregnancies and abortions. In New York State, birth control has become free for everyone, regardless of personal health insurance. On another note, comprehensive sex education regarding birth control, as well as how to use it effectively, can help teens more because if they become sexually active without knowing the risks, or how to effectively use birth control, this creates a greater risk of sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancies. Why do teens want birth control? Most teens want to be protected from pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases if they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is well known that the true origins of this financial crisis is that the over–borrowing of US households, especially to finance housing. It had serious affected the financial sector and the macro–economy. According to Shiller (2007), the main reason of the sub–prime mortgage crisis and the worldwide economic and financial crisis of 2007–2009 is the housing bubble. He also believes that the preceding bubble created dynamics and the dynamics of the crisis were self–perpetuating, although in the opposite direction. From the literature, we can see that conventional housing economics research virtually ignores interactions with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to state their importance, Iacoviello (2010) focus on seven interesting facts about housing. 1. Housing wealth The housing wealth refers to the market value of all residential capital stock, no matter rented or owned. It is also an important component of national wealth. In most developed economies, housing wealth takes up almost half of household wealth. The figure below shows this phenomenal in the United States. The data selected from 1952 to 2008. Figure 1: Housing wealth and Non–housing wealth in the US 2. Housing wealth & GDP Compare housing wealth and GDP, we can see that housing wealth is larger than GDP. Housing wealth also fluctuates over time. Figure 2 illustrates the ratio of nominal housing wealth to nominal GDP in the US. From the figure, we can find that the ratio of housing wealth to GDP has averaged around 1.5 between 1952 and 2008. However, it has moved dramatically throughout this period. At the beginning of these periods, it was equal to 1.28; we can see the lowest value happen in 1962 and in 2005 it reaches the highest value of 2.26. It is at the peak of the recent housing boom. Research on the Cell Cycle of an Onion Root Tip Introduction: Cell cycle is a series of sequenced events in a Eukaryotic (a cell with a nucleus and membrane– bounded organelles) from its origin until its division to produce two daughter cells. There are different forms of cell division: mitosis: an asexual division that produces daughter nuclei with the exact copies of the parent nuclei and Meiosis; cell division that reduces the number of chromosomes to produce specialized cells called gametes (sex cells) that produces half the number of chromosome of the parent cell. Cell cycle is divided in three major steps: interphase, mitosis, and cytokinesis. During interphase step, the cell produces proteins particular cells need to function properly. Interphase is separated into three phases: G1 phase where most cell's organelles duplicate leading the cell to grow and expand, Synthesis phase where the DNA in the chromosome replicate, and G2 phase where the proteins are synthesized preparing mitosis for cell division. Due to the numerous activities going on, the cell spends a lot of time in interphase. Next major step of the cell cycle is the mitotic (M) phase, during which the cell splits into two distinct cells, often called "daughter cells". Mitosis is accomplished during four stages: prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase. During prophase, the replicated chromosomes condense, so they can move around freely, nuclear envelopes, the membrane that surrounds the nucleus scatters, and spindle protein structures called ... Mr. Crumpler noted the amount of shoe boxes per pallet and a recently received shipment of shoes. Flooding caused by heavy rainfall is more than what it can handle. When there is a typhoon and heavy rainfall, the water level rise very quickly. The pumping stations cannot handle that much water, and can't keep up with the water levels. Over time, they have debated about putting in rainwater harvest systems. In 2012, Campisano and Modica created a dimensionless methodology for the best design of domestic rainwater harvest systems. From these studies, it can be proved that the previous research had poorly designed the intake of the rainwater harvest systems. The size of the designs of rainwater harvest systems were kept in small communities. They also lacked consideration of all metropolitan catchments varying in special capacity and quality of the systems. The second category in rainwater harvest systems is simulation and evaluation of the effectiveness. First the research included evaluating the possible potential for safe to drink water savings by using rainwater in residential areas. The second thing that was in the research was estimating nonpotable household potential. With the performance of storage type, and investigating the potential benefits from sharing rainwater harvest systems with neighbors by using rainfall data. Establishing the probabilistic relationships between storage capacities and deficit rates of rainwater harvest systems was some of the next things that were used to consideration. These studies weren't really considered for the surface and sewer flowing after rainwater. There are many studies evaluating the performance and reliability if rainwater harvest systems using numerical or hydrological models. Jones and Hunt figured ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What I Learned in AIS 2016 Before starting the Accounting Information Systems class, I had little idea of what accounting information was. After having Professor Carothers for previous accounting classes, I knew it would be a tough class but the knowledge I would gain would be well worth it and everlasting. Throughout this semester, I have learned a great deal of information, because of this it is hard to talk about everything. I decided instead of talking about everything I learned I would choose the topics I believe will be beneficial for later use, whether in school or at a job. The important topics I chose are; creativity, interviewing, cycles, frauds and errors, controls, and flowcharts. The proof of what I learned in this paper is the information stated in the following paragraphs in this paper. Some of the information stated in this paper was obtained from the sources posted on D2L for the AIS class of fall 2016 which is documented in my sources on the last page. The first and most emphasized topics in the class was creativity. I learned that creativity does not stop once you hit a certain age and is also not just for artists. Creativity is present in all jobs and varies from job to job. In this class I learned that creativity consists of five parts. First, is to evaluate the problem. Second, is to identify current knowledge. Third, is brainstorm how the current knowledge does or does not fit the problem. Fourth, develop solutions using the knowledge that fits into ...
