What Successful Principals Do And What Unsuccessful Ones Fail
In Ponomareva's article, "What Successful Principals Do and What Unsuccessful Ones Fail to Do",
the author outlines what they believe to be the key factors and attributes that propel certain
principals to greater success than others. Although many of these at first glance appear to be more of
the "simply common sense" variety, others give the reader pause to marinate in the greater
implications of those basic characteristics. Ponomareva (2015) rationalizes that his "many years of
practical interaction with school principals in the system of upgrading of qualifications and
certification of pedagogical and administrative cadres" (p. 37) gives him the insight to be able to
evaluate the attributes of what successful principals do. Ponomareva states that the road to being a
successful principal starts long before one acquires the title. In fact, he believes that the leadership
quality of professional growth begins as a person first enters a classroom as a teacher, which is
honed to perfection as that teacher takes on leadership roles among their colleagues.
As a classroom teacher, my philosophy is "always more, never less", and I apply this philosophy as I
work within my peer unit. A person who is willing to put themselves "out there" and accept more
responsibility for the good of the group I believe, is a person who can evolve into a successful
leader. As a leader of a school, the principal is an inspiration to those who work with them, always
keeping the moral high

I Was On A Mission
I was on a mission. A mission to find the answers to burning questions I had after completing my
case study #30. It brought on so many mixed feelings about what a school leader can accomplish at
a school that has a toxic culture and climate–that being Roosevelt High School (RHS). Let me
explain. RHS is a long withstanding neighborhood school with a very diverse student population
with a wide variety of academic and social emotional needs. The faculty at RHS has been there for
quite some time–thus have tenure. The staff has strong union representation or at least that is what
appears to be the case. My principal, assistant principals, and myself were new to RHS. While there,
we observed many questionable behaviors and activities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We were in for a huge challenge.
Interestingly, I read a book called the "Five dysfunctions of a team" by Patrick Lencioni. It is a
leadership fable that tells the story of a team of executives that are not working as a team. They
struggle with recognizing their true potential in themselves and their team members. The team also
struggles with accepting responsibility and coming to any agreements resulting in negative morale
that influence their subsequent departments in a negative way, as well. And what resonated with me
is that behaviors, attitudes, and activities like this really happen in the culture of an organization. I
saw evidence of each dysfunction in RHS from lack of trust, fear of conflict, lack of accountability,
and inattention to results. (Lencione, 2010) You see as a teacher, the assumption is that your main
focus is your students in your classroom nothing else matters because the things outside of those
walls are things you can't control. However, when you see things through the lens of a leader, certain
activities, attitudes, and behaviors are not as controllable or seem right anymore. Therefore, upon
that light, as principal you reach out to your leadership team for insight into the causes for the
problem of practice and actions needed to

Theory-Part 1. What Are The Principals Governing The Creation
Theory–Part 1
What are the principals governing the creation of the Prepared Environment? How are the concepts
of freedom and discipline encompassed within the prepared environment? Please consider the
importance of freedom for the developing child in terms of self–regulation.
The first aim of the prepared environment is, as far as it is possible, to render the growing child
independent of the adult.
–Maria Montessori The Secret of Childhood, 1966
The Montessori Environment is prepared on six principals: Freedom, Structure and Order, Beauty,
Nature and Reality, Social Environment, Intellectual Environment.
1. FREEDOM
Montessori believed that a child must be free to explore and follow his own natural impulses. Within
the prepared ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Montessori's definition of discipline is not something the teacher does to control children. There is a
self–discipline in Montessori classroom that means a child is responsible for his/her act.
Responsibility to the environment, self–control, self–motivation, self–initiated tasks and way to
independence. Children learn decision–making skills through the pro
2. STRUCTURE AND ORDER
Montessori believed that there is a sensitive period for order which occurs between the ages of one
and three years of age. The structure and order of the prepared environment plays a significant role
in children's learning and development. The materials are classified, ordered and sequenced
according to the child's stages of development and the particular interests or skills they are designed
to serve. This orderly environment provides the child with a sense of security. An early childhood
Montessori classroom will have areas for Practical Life, Sensorial, Math, Language and Culture.
Within that order, each object has its own place on a shelf. Additionally, each activity has its own
organization within itself. Children will find all the pieces needed for the exercise they choose...
they have to return the materials to the place and condition in which they found them, so the child
becomes an integral partner in maintaining the order of the classroom.
3. REALITY AND NATURE
Everything in the classroom is designed to bring the child into closer

The Role Of The Administration And Construction Of A...
It is reverent that HR play a key role in the administration and the construction of a functioning
staff. It is the goal of the principal to hire effective personnel to his team, and that these individuals
bring forth experiences that might make the team stronger. The principal must think of his
weaknesses and try to fulfill people who will pick up the slack in these areas. He also wants
individuals who know how to multitask and organize. The principal also need individuals who will
tell him if he is wrong, or if there is an easier way to accomplish his mission.
According to the passage, we read the principle can do his hiring to convenient himself or he can
just pick from the list that the district provides. I believe the principal needs to think of his school as
a game of chess. A principal needs to place the right people in the right roles. A principal wants to
know his teachers and administration. He needs to know what they can handle and what they have
accomplished in their careers. In addition, he needs to know about their life style and see what
issues individual might be facing and if they are trying to progress as a teacher. He might have
individuals who are hanging on to retire. Which is ok, if they do their job. However, he does not
need individuals who are disgruntle and tend to rub off negativity views on new employees. A
principal wants individuals who want to grow and has set goals for themselves. He does not need
stagnant individuals who want

Celeste's Heart Themes
The themes found in the passages, Celeste's Heart by Aida Bartnik and Principals and Principles by
Daniel Hadler both are similar. A similar theme from both passages is that you have to stand up for
what you believe in no matter the cost or outcome.
In the passage Celeste's Heart, the story's message shows the theme shared between the two
passages. The main character, Celeste is a young student who attends a school in Argentina. During
the break periods at school, their teacher would make her class stand in a line and stretch their arms
out for two break periods. After getting home from school and realizing the true hardship she faces
at school she starts to reflect about it to herself. ¨And next time the Teacher got mad at the class,

regarding the conditions there. When attending school in San Francisco, the principle had
announced that students were not to wear shorts the following day, regardless of the heat wave
approaching. As a result of this, Daniel convinces the grade to go against the principal's words since
her announcement had violated student rights. "... I was sent to the principal's office... She asked me
if I told everyone to wear shorts. I said yes. She said shorts were distracting to some of the teachers.
I said that free dress was one of our rights. She said that shorts led students to have water fights. I
said that free dress was one of our rights. She said that she was the principal and she was in charge. I
said that free dress was one of our rights. She kept pointing at me. I kept pointing at the pamphlet...
until at last she gave up... In eighth grade we got a new version of the pamphlet. Instead of "Students
have the right to free dress," it read, "Students have the responsibility to dress appropriately," I
threw away. If you stand up for your rights, you can count on the fact that the wicked people will
find sneaky ways to change the rules. But you should stand up for your rights anyways..." ( Hadler

Maria Ordered Supplies From Ftc Enterprises
11. Maria ordered supplies from FTC enterprises. Bob, the owner of FTC enterprises, sent a credit
application form to Maria. A couple of days later, Maria sent back the credit application with a
signature that appeared to be under her name. Bob shipped the supplies thereafter awaiting Maria's
payments which never came. Bob later sued Maria for payment collection, but Maria denied ever
signing the paperwork and claimed that all credit documents were referred to her receptionist. Is
Maria liable?
In this case Maria is considered as a disclosed principal and Maria's receptionist is her agent. A
disclosed principal is defined as a principal whose identity is known by a third party (Clarkson,
2015, p 644). FTC being the third party in this situation, recognizes Maria as a principal and
recognized her receptionist as an extension of Maria's authority. By referring credit documents and
inquiries to her receptionist, Maria is granting her receptionist implied authority to process credit
documents on her behalf (Clarkson, 2015, p. 643). Therefore, Maria will be held liable regardless of
whether or not she was aware of her receptionist's actions.

Homework: Questions of budgeting
1. Discuss some of the major benefits to be gained from budgeting.
It motivates the executives to define the basic objectives of the company, it gives a structure to the
company by defining the responsibilities of each of the parts that forms the organization, it
motivates and rises the participation of all workers of the company, it obligates to maintain a control
document with historical data, it facilitates managers the use of resources, and it gives periodic
evaluations and analysis.
2. What is meant by the term responsibility accounting?
It explains that a company must be decentralized or separated into manageable parts. ... Show more

Who are the participants in the budgeting process, and how do they participate?
First the management must choose a period of time for which the budget will be used; the most
convenient period is of one year. A period can also be of one month in which it is easier to compare
the real expenses against the planned expenses. A committee of budgeting formed by several
members of the organization executives watch the process of the preparation of the budgeting. This
committee sets the rules by which the budgeting must be done and coordinates the budgets that
separately are prepared by the different units in the organization, and solves conflicts that may arise
to later present the final budgeting plan to the general director and the consul. Instructions must be
delivered by the ordinary chain of command. Decisions over the budgeting must be done by the line
of command, and the final planning by the general director, while the staff can only give advises, but
cannot decide. The person who decides is the budgeting director. His main functions are to inform
the mechanism of the budgeting preparation through computers and telecommunications, to give the
macroeconomics information, make the necessary calculations, gather the numbers for the budget,
and watch that each part of the company gives their proposals on time. Once the period of time is
established, the committee must listen to the companies' expectations and objectives. Then a manual

However, once the useful segments are discovered, the information found can be utilized to assist
the company to achieve a better understanding of who their correct target market is and allow them
to understand how to advertise to them appropriately. For Falmer, it was determined that the general
market segments that best suit them include the following:
Behavioral Segmentation This specific segment describes the consumers behavior toward the
products that they purchase. For example, most customers in the precision machined parts industry
rely on variables including low price, high quality, short lead time and good service. If they receive
these specific characteristics from Falmer, it will most likely increase their usage rate, loyalty and
readiness to buy products that they require. In order to meet these customer specifications, Falmer
must work toward obtaining their ISO 9001 certification to prove their quality exists, be open to the
possibility of a second shift in order to decrease their lead time on products, and continue their
impeccable customer service.
Geographic Segmentation It is important to ensure that the suppliers are within a certain
geographical location of the customers in which they would like to serve. For manufacturing
facilities, shipping costs can be a reason that a customer selects one supplier over another. It may be
beneficial for Falmer to cover the shipping costs for their products for

Framework For Analysis : School Closure
Framework for Analysis School closure is a sensitive and complicated situation. Therefore, it should
be worked tactfully and strategically. The students' academic learning, safety, and smooth transition
during times of changes should be the focal point for any administrator, during a school closure. As
human beings, the leaders will experience a broad spectrum of feelings, that will most likely push
him or her into a 'rollercoaster of sentiments', while dealing with this type of crisis. However, as
leaders and managers, they must control their feelings, while clenching on their values, their
knowledge, and their leadership standards to be effective and assertive throughout the process. An
effective administrator should lead, their followers, towards a successful transition or, if possible,
inspire them to challenge the possibility of closure. As per this case study, Mr. Jones needed to
prioritize and balance his responsibilities as an administrator and leader. Roosevelt Neighborhood
School was a middle school that was serving a significant number of ELL and minorities, one of the
few in a predominantly white district. Almost two thirds of their demographics were encompassed
of Latinos and African Americans. Even when their discipline was not strictly enforced, they did not
have major disciplinary issues. Additionally, they were scoring enough to keep up with the Adequate

Analysis Of The Torso Of Aphrodite
During my visit to the Tampa Museum of Art, I observed and viewed various pieces from The
Classical World exhibit. While I observed numerous works, one sculpture stood out when I
compared it to the others. In this paper, I will be describing The Torso of Aphrodite, using my own
viewpoints and the elements of formal art analysis in order to explain its' unique qualities that make
it different when compared to other pieces in The Classical World exhibit.
The Torso of Aphrodite was constructed in the 1st century A.D. and is made entirely of marble. The
torso previously belonged to a life–sized version statue of The Greek goddess of love Aphrodite.
From the moment I saw this piece, I knew I was attracted to it in a deeper way. It took more than my
initial impression to make an observation, and that is what I enjoyed. The way the robe is draped
only part of her body is visible, but this is done in a clever way. The robe is seen draped halfway
down her arm, covering the left side of her body, leaving only the upper right part of her chest
exposed. As I walked to the back, I noticed the robe was clutched at elbow level. The robe covers
most of her back, in a well done manner; little details are exposed on her back, or buttocks. The knot
on the top of her left shoulder shows where the robe was tied to maintain her modesty.
Looking at the sculpture carefully I did not observe many shapes, but I did see specific lines which
were meant to emphasize smoothness and beauty. For example,

Horizontal Integration
Why does it exist and why is it formed?
–Company's merging together. 1 company taking over another. Financial reasons etc. Happens when
a company owns or controls other businesses at the same level of the distribution chain
How does Horizontal integration affect the organisations concerned? –Can be a risk. 1 company
may lose identity. Job losses can occur. Staff may not like the change leading to demotivated
employees. If one company fails it can affect both.
How does Horizontal integration benefit the organisations concerned? –Can increase profitability.

Preferred Agents
Why do preferred agents exist and why are they formed?
Travel Agencies are sometimes given 'preferred status' by tour operators and other principals
(airlines, hotels, transport operators etc), meaning that the agency receives:
– Extra staff training on products and services
– Offered the highest commission levels
– Staff are given enhanced sales incentives
– The agency is given more promotion by the principal
These things are usually based on an agency achieving high sales volumes over an agreed period of
time
Why do preferred agents affect the organisations concerned?
–Can affect the principle as extra commission, staff training and incentives cost money to provide.
Affects agents as they can be restricted on what products and services they can sell. Can also put a
lot of pressure on staff to meet sales targets.
How does the relationship benefit the organisations concerned?
–Benefits principals as their products and services are being promoted and sold resulting in increase
in sales. Benefits agents as they can receive higher commission and extra staff training etc.
How does the relationship benefit the customer?
–Can benefit customer as preferred agents tend to get better discounts from the principle.
Commission Levels
Why do commission levels exist and why are they formed?
–Commission is the payment that a travel agent receives from a principal for selling that company's
products or services. Commission levels vary

Growing up as a kid in a house of 7 brothers and 2 sisters mama always told us "you can never
really thank anyone enough for anything they do for you no matter how little or how big." Sitting
back years later pondering on the importance of showing appreciation... I finally really understood
what she really meant. Before, I came to the point of Enlightenment. I usually weigh whatever
someone does to me and appreciate them in that measure. If I get a little help from you I show
minimal appreciation and if I got a lot of help from you then I show a whole lot of appreciation. I
used to watch mama go extra lengths just to show gratitude... she still thanks a friend 5 years after
he lent her a little helping hand when the chips were down. One day I just muttered to her "why
mama... Why do you always show so much appreciation even when someone does a little thing like
pick–up your grocery or even holds a door open when you walk through?" she stared at me intently
and said "Michael, Showing appreciation goes a long way in life...Learn to

Stages Of Standard Diffusion Model
Five Stages of Standard Diffusion Model The diffusion process is the communication theory for
adopting or rejecting ideas, products, or innovation. Sociologists of the 1950s developed a standard
diffusion model that had five different stages. The stages are awareness, interest, evaluation, trial,
and adoption. In the awareness stage, an individual is introduced to a new idea, procedure, or
product with known knowledge about it. Following the awareness stage is the interest stage which is
also referred to as the information stage. In this stage, an individual starts becoming familiar and
interested in the new idea, procedure, or product while actively searching for more information
regarding it. Thirdly is the evaluation stage where the individual determines the value of the idea,
procedure, or product in an attempt of determining whether it is good. The trial stage is next where
the person tries out the idea, procedure, or product. Lastly is the adoption stage in which the
individual determines that the idea, procedure, or product is overall positive (Moore, Bagin, &
Gallagher, p. 74, 2016). These five stages were highly critique by Lionberger and Rogers, because
they believed this five stage process did not follow a linear sequence. Everett Rogers later renamed
the five stages because of the great impacts the social system plays throughout the process. The five
stages of Rogers ' diffusion process are knowledge, persuasion, decision, implementation, and
confirmation. In

Reflection On Marketing Simulation
For the past couple of weeks, I engaged in a marketing simulation. This Simulation was extremely
fun while challenging as it taught me the right way to advertise and market a new brand, specifically
a computer, that you are putting out to the world. The targeted markets were Chicago, Sao Paulo,
Paris, and Shanghai. There were three different segments that were related to PC's and laptops.
Those three were Mercedes, Workhorse, and Traveler. Below, I am going to mention what specific
decisions I made in each of the six quarters as well as why I made each decision. Quarter 1 &2
Since quarter one was the first quarter of this simulation, I was unaware of how difficult it was
going to be to make all the different decisions. Firstly, I had to choose a Company name. Because I
was selling computers, I thought that the name "Dev–Tech" was a perfect fit being that this
simulation was about development and technology. Next, I had to choose a target segment. I knew
going into this simulation that it would be better to invest in the more expensive goods as it would
benefit me in the end. The segment that didn't care about price was Mercedes, so that is the segment
that I made my first priority. Next, I had to choose what responsibility I wanted to have with the
company. I chose to be president because the president has advantage of having overall leadership.
Finally, I had to open a sales office. I decided to go with Chicago because there was a high amount

lead time. They also prefer to have a supplier that keeps them up to date on if any issues arise,
provide good customer service, and are willing to replace defective items if they are found.

Employee Training And Thermal Resistance
Overall, my strategy entering into the company was to focus more narrowly on specific market
segments because it is important for a CEO to understand that a company cannot be all things to all
customer. Consequently, I focused the company's attention on two main market segments, segments
A and C, which tended to purchase motors in larger volumes. The customers within segment A
believed power–to–size ratio and the support from our sales department were the most important
aspect for purchasing decisions. Then, segment C customers were willing to pay a higher price point
as long as the motors provided the needed thermal resistance and power–to–size ratio. As you can
tell both segments placed significant importance on the power–to–size ratio, which allowed the
company to easily place this as a necessary budget item. Another important aspect to make the
strategy work was to invest in employee training and thermal resistance since these were important
factors to the targeted customers. Lastly, the strategy focused heavily on the existing customers
within the targeted markets since it is important to develop positive relationships with customers to
ensure they increase their purchases and keep coming back for more motors.
Now, in order to ensure success of the strategy I needed to make some important decisions. The first
decision was to keep the price for the motors at $142 because the company's customers tended to
react negatively to price changes. Then, I lowered the discounts

Ponds: Cosmetics and Pond
1.1 Introduction: Pond's Cream was invented in the United States as a medicine by scientist Theron
T. Pond (1800–1852) in 1846. Mr. Pond extracted a healing tea from witch hazel, with which he
discovered he could heal small cuts and other ailments. The product was named "Golden Treasure",
after Theron died, it would be known as "Pond's Extract". In 1846, the "T.T. Pond Company" was
formed, with Pond and other business people as investors. Theron Pond's health was failing,
however, so he sold his portion of the company soon after, and he died in 1852.The company then

Patagonia Another Way of Doing Business
1 Introduction Patagonia was founded in 1957 by Yvon Chouinard who defines himself as a
reluctant business man. He started his business as a way to climb and surf year long, seeking to
build the best product to satisfy his passion. "Build the best product, cause no unnecessary harm, use
business to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental crisis." –Patagonia's Mission
Statement Patagonia grew out of a small company that made tools for climbers. Alpinism remains at
the heart of a worldwide business that still makes clothes for climbing as well as for skiing,
snowboarding, surfing, fly fishing, paddling and trail running. Customers are willing to pay a

Today with the Common Threads Initiative they are pursuing the exact same philosophy and trying
to push the industry to adopt more ethical business behaviors. Patagonia's highly public search for a
new way of doing business implies a new kind of relationship with customers, reinforced by
unconditional guarantees, extremely high product quality and an explicit commitment to ethical
codes of behavior (Reinhardt, 2000). For Yvon Chouinard Patagonia is a business experiment, one
of his goals is to run the company so it's here 100 years from now and always makes the best–
quality products. Yet he finds that concern for quality and sustainability doesn't pose a conflict with
running a highly successful business. Every time we do the right thing, our profits go up
(Chouinard, 2005). Patagonia is the perfect example of successful business with high ethics
standard, it has led the company to enjoy an unrivaled reputation among outdoor aficionados, and its
green philosophy is gaining broader appeal as more people embrace sustainable consumption. 6

Fundamentally, there are two ways of creating this general image. One is to describe the general
appearance of the device; the other is to compare it with something that is familiar to the reader. You
must be careful, of course, not to compare an unfamiliar thing with another unfamiliar thing.
Reference to the Score–Keeper again suggests how illuminating a good analogy can be: "To this
comparison might be added some such direct description as the following: " It consists of a
mechanism enclosed in a rectangular metal case ––– 1 5/16 in. long (3.3 cm), 7/8 in wide (2.2cm),
and ¼ in. thick (0.6 cm)––– to which is attached a leather wristband." Size and shape are often the
conspicuous characteristics of a mechanism.
Organization of the Description
It is possible to divide almost every mechanism into parts. Such division is an essential part of a
detailed description. In the introduction to a description, a statement of the principal parts into which
the mechanism can be divided serves two purposes: the first is that it is an additional way, and an
important one, of giving the reader a general understanding of what the mechanism is. The second
purpose is to describe the principal parts one at a time, a list of principal parts in the order in which
you wish to discuss them is a clear indication of the organization of the remainder of the description.

An Analysis Of ' The Torso Of Aphrodite '
During my visit to the Tampa Museum of Art, I observed and viewed various pieces from The
Classical World exhibit. While I observed numerous works, I was drawn to a specific piece due to
its uniqueness when compared to the other pieces in the exhibit. In this paper, I will be describing
The Torso of Aphrodite, using my own viewpoints and the elements of formal art analysis, in order
to explain the uniqueness when compared to other pieces in The Classical World exhibit.
The Torso of Aphrodite was constructed in the 1st century A.D. and is made entirely of marble. The
torso used to belong to a life–sized version statue of The Greek goddess of love Aphrodite. From the
moment I saw this piece, I knew I was attracted to it in a deeper way. It ... Show more content on

As the robe simultaneously conceals and reveals, it blends nicely into the lower part of her torso.
Her body is proportioned smoothly, with no areas of obvious fault or imperfection. I think having
those sensual characteristics adds to her overall beauty.
This sculpture is comprised of marble, and due to its large size it was easier for me to develop an
impression about the piece because I can focus on specific parts in more detail. To understand the
piece, a very visual and detailed perspective is needed. Judging by the way the thighs are
represented, it appears as though she is striking a contrapposto pose, which makes her appear static.
She has most of her weight shifted on her left leg, but not all of it The focal point of this piece I
believe is her robe. It skillfully falls down her left side, while leaving other parts exposed, drawing
the main attention of this piece. Few different types of shapes are displayed, except the shape of her
legs and the form of the robe. The physical texture was smooth throughout the entire piece, partly
due to the material it is made of. There is only this one texture, as her robe and body parts all feel
the same.
The title of this piece is "Torso of Aphrodite/Venus". This piece was discovered outside of Rome in
1771. Afterwards, it was purchased by a wealthy English collector, who displayed it in his home.
Today, the piece resides at the

Sgo Case Study Essay
SGA, a hosiery company, is being aggressively courted by the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile
Workers Union (ACTWU). With the down turn of the hosiery industry, SGA has had to make
changes such as laying off people, reducing pay and benefits and other perks the employees were
given over the many years when their company was more profitable. Now the company is looking at
the possibility of a vote for unionizing. The union has been very aggressive in the workplace and the
surrounding areas. While the leaders of the company do not want a union, the employees will have
the final say, leaving the president of SGA in a very difficult situation. The possibility of having to

If handled correctly a letter is a great way of handing out information. However, the letter that was
written could violate the Fair Labor act by threatening job security and possible other actions as seen
fit by the president. In the article, "Unfair labor practices", the writer lists examples of unfair
practices and says, "Examples of employer conduct that violate the NLRA: Threatening to close the
business or facility if employees select a union to represent them (Unfair labor practices, 2011)."
SGA has to be careful. Also, another way to get the company's agenda out to everyone without any
cost to the company is the use of social media. Keep in mind though, the same rules apply and the
company needs to be respectful of the law. While some employees will never be happy, if enough
employees see that the company is working for them and trying to do right by them, the need for a
union could be eliminated in their minds. The union needs to be made to look as a useless entity and
the company needs to be looked as a family and be a cohesive group of members working together
to get to the same end goal. As Budd says his book, "The use of outside union avoidance consultants
and lawyers is a prominent component of employers' campaigns (Budd, 2013)." SGA would be wise

In terms of becoming a mediator and consensus builder the authors detailed the need for principals
to possess relational leadership skills in order to be able to both facilitate groups and coach others on
staff in the ability to facilitate their own groups, and stressed that the key to this is the ability to
effectively participate in conflict resolution (Donaldson, Marnik, Mackenzie, & Ackerman, 2009).
The authors suggested that conflict is part and parcel of school reform and that in addition to being
able to deal effectively with conflict the successful principal needs to develop the ability for
bringing about consensus within the group, noting that interpersonal and intrapersonal skills were as
much or more important than knowledge (Donaldson, Marnik, Mackenzie, & Ackerman, 2009). In
the area of relationships it was noted that principals that are most effective are those that place high
value on people and relationships and that when this exists as a core part of the belief system of the
principal it is noticeable and is communicated to staff in both subtle and explicit ways (Donaldson,
Marnik, Mackenzie, & Ackerman, 2009). According to the authors this sense of value comes
through in all of the dealings that the principal has with stakeholders (Donaldson, Marnik,

What Is Relative Absolute Unfairness?
To figure the Hamilton Method first thing you need to do is come up with a standard divisor. This is
determined by dividing the total population of all the states by the number of seats available. In the
example given there are 5321, 88 people divided by 100 seats.
Divisor = __Total Population = D 532188 = 5321.88 Number of Seats 100 Now you take the
number and divide it by the population of each state. This is what they determine the Standard
Quota.
State Population = Standard Quota 5321.88 Using the Hamilton Method you have to round down to
the nearest whole number. If you round up you will come out with more seats per state than are
available. For the additional seats left over, they are given out based on the decimal going from
largest to the smallest, but every state no matter how small must have a Representative. Because we

The absolute unfairness is the difference between the average numbers of people per representative
in each state, i.e... the difference in average constituencies (Apportionment Practice Hamilton,
2015). Relative unfairness is a better measure of unfairness because it takes into account the size of
the population of the states. It is calculated as follows.
Relative Unfairness = Absolute Unfairness/ Smaller Average Constituency of the two states
(Apportionment Practice Hamilton, 2015).
State 3 has the highest constituency of 5486.44, state 4 has the lowest constituency of 369. I would
subtract the two. 5486.44 369____ = Absolute Unfairness value of 5117.44 5117.44 The relative
unfairness is completed by dividing the absolute unfairness by the smallest constituency, so it would
be. 5117.44 = 13.87 Relative Unfairness.

Abstract
Calveta Dining Services, Inc. was a $2 billion, privately held firm that provided food services to

Calveta Dining retired in 2007 after 35 years of leadership and he named his eldest son Frank as the

they could prosper in any segment.
Interpretation
The interpretation that can be derived from the above analysis is that it would be better for Frank to
think about diversifying the business rather than acquiring GSD. Even Frank knew that it was a
huge risk to acquire GSD considering the heavy debt the business would be in after the acquisition,
besides Calveta Dining would find it difficult to train GSD employees to the work culture of Calveta
Dining. Frank should not make this decision only with the purpose of meeting his father's goal
because this may harm the firm in the long run. Frank had his own problems organizational
restructuring to do for Calveta Dining and in such a circumstance if Frank acquired GSD then his
problem woul grow from bad to worse because it would not be an easy task to change the entire
work culture of GSD within a short span of time, and apart from the debts of acquiring GSD Frank
would also need to generate funds for the training of the staff teaching them Antonio's way. The

Traction: Manual Or Mechanical Therapy
Traction is a manual or mechanical therapy technique that has several different uses. A basic
definition for traction would be pulling on a body part in order to straighten a body part or relieve
muscle pain. Traction can be used as a means to place some part of the body back into its original
position. An example of this might be a dislocated shoulder. To place the humerus back into the
joint, pulling force would be applied to the arm. This would allow the humerus to reset back into the
shoulder joint. This pulling force can also have an impact on muscle tightness and spasms. Gentle
pulling force can stretch out muscles in a particular region of the body and reduce the occurrence of
spasms and tightness. Traction is a very effective tool that is used in therapy office every day. One of
the more common forms of traction used in therapy is cervical traction. This form can be performed
manually by the physical therapist, or it can be performed mechanically by a traction machine.
Manual traction is the choice of many therapist simply because of the cost involved in mechanical
traction equipment. Manual cervical traction is performed by the therapist using their hands or some
accessory to gently pull on the patient's neck. This technique can be performed in a sitting or
standing position. If the hands are used, the therapist will grip the patient's neck directly under the
occipital bone of the skull. A towel or padded strap can also be used to ... Show more content on

Lumbriculus Viegatus Lab Report
Lumbriculus variegatus, also known as blackworms, reproduce by asexual fragmentation in a lab
setting. They are easy to handle and keep alive, needing only fresh spring water every few days.
They are viewed under a stereomicroscope and slowed down by exposure to ice water for easier
cutting. The object of the experiment was to test whether the amount of segments left in a cut worm
affected the regeneration rate of the worm. We cut the worms into small and long anterior and
posterior fragments, along with separating the heads and tails. We predicted the pieces of worms
with the most segments (the long anterior and long posterior) would survive and regenerate better
than the smaller sections. Our results showed the null hypothesis was supported because the short
anterior segments grew the most. The reason for this occurrence may be the worms' survival,
regardless of segment length, is unpredictable. This would also offer an explanation as to why our
control worms died in the end of the experiment.
Introduction
Lumbriculus variegatus, also known as blackworms or California blackworms, are known for their
abilities to regenerate. Lumbriculus variegatus are in the phylum Annelida, class Oligochaeta, order
Lumbriculidae, family Lumbriculidae, and genus Lumbriculus variegatu. (Drewes 2004).
Blackworms are easy to maintain, needing only spring creek water to keep them alive. A blackworm
has about 150 to 250 segments on its body, which is about 10 centimeters long (Drewes 2004).

If this happens and more sales are driven through the Rehab Suppliers for example, then it would be

Quickie's main advantage relies on being a pioneer in the industry, while Invacare's been a follower.
Quickie released many product innovations and could be credited as the creator of lightweight and

principle that early years settings should provide for the needs of all children, including those with

children from linguistic, ethnic or religious minorities and children from other disadvantaged or
marginalised areas or groups. For the purpose of this report, the researcher will use the term

All educational policies, says the Framework, 'should stipulate that disabled children attend the
neighbourhood school, 'that would be attended if the child did not have a disability.' (UNESCO,
1994., p.24) There is seemingly little doubt that the catalyst for inclusion within the English system
lies in the sentiments outlined in the Salamanca Statement. As Hornby, (2002)., asserts, 'The
statement has resulted in what, at times, appears to be a tidal wave of inclusion intent preached with
overpowering zeal by the church of inclusion.' (p.7) It is observable, though, that despite this
'missionary zeal' the implementation of inclusionary practices, within the English system, began
slowly. Although some might argue that the last Conservative government, through the Code of
Practice (DFE, 1994), encouraged children with special educational needs to 'join fully with their
peers in the curriculum and the life of the setting' (p.11), others contended that: 'the code only
addressed 'identification and standardisation' in an attempt to end the vagueness of special
educational needs, previously delivered through a postcode lottery of provision.' (Clough, 1998. p.2)

What Is Franchising?
1 Introduction
The purpose of this paper is to shed some light on the concept of franchising from the viewpoint of
the franchisor, discuss its different uses taking into account the advantages and disadvantages
attached to them, and link these considerations to a firm's internationalization decision–making
process.
1 What is franchising ?
Franchising as it is generally known today is a form of marketing or distribution in which a parent
company customarily grants an individual or a relatively small company the right, or privilege, to do
business in a described manner over a certain period of time in a specified place. The parent
company is termed the franchisor; the receiver of the privilege is called the franchisee; and the ...

This has led to general unwillingness to make investments and reduction in the number of
companies. Franchising has survived the recession rather well, though. The number of companies
that follow the franchising concept has increased in almost all countries or has at least not
decreased. For example, in the United States it has grown at an annual rate of seven percent (Laakso
1995, 84).
2 INTERNATIONALIZATION theory
A firm's initial decision on whether to internationalize or not will be discussed briefly and in a
general manner in order to understand the motivation that drives firms abroad in the first place.
Factors that combine internationalization theory and franchising as a strategic choice during that
process will be discussed in more detail later in this chapter.
1 Decision to internationalize
The goals of business are to increase or stabilize profits. Success is influenced by foreign sales and
foreign resources. International business includes all business transactions that involve two or more
countries. In order to pursue any of its international objectives, a company must establish
international operational forms, some of which may be significantly different from those used
domestically. The choice of forms is influenced not only by the objective being pursued, but also by
the environments in which the firm must operate. These environmental conditions also

The Draft Theory Of Practice Essay
Draft Theory of Practice
I have been in the education field for twenty–three years and have had the opportunity to work with
many administrators which all have had very different leadership styles and personalities. I have
been lucky to be able to work with a few principals that were, in my opinion, effective and
transformational leaders. Unfortunately, I have also had the occasion of working with principals that
made it almost unbearable to continue working in an uninviting and toxic atmosphere, which
resulted in many seasoned educators leaving the campus or the education field all together. All of
these experiences, good and bad, have made me develop my own perception of administration and
of the principalship itself; formulating my own theory as to what I believe to be the most effective
way, as an administrator, to promote success of each student. My theory of practice consists of goals
which depend on getting all stakeholders involved in the success of our students. Some of my goals
in the principalship are: promoting a safe school environment for students and staff, performing my
duties as a principal in an ethical manner which will encourage teachers and students to also act with
integrity and honesty. It is my belief that attaining these first two goals will foster the relationships
needed to work collaboratively on the vision and mission of our school; getting all stakeholders
involved, students, teachers, support staff, parents, community members, surrounding

  • 4. What Successful Principals Do And What Unsuccessful Ones Fail In Ponomareva's article, "What Successful Principals Do and What Unsuccessful Ones Fail to Do", the author outlines what they believe to be the key factors and attributes that propel certain principals to greater success than others. Although many of these at first glance appear to be more of the "simply common sense" variety, others give the reader pause to marinate in the greater implications of those basic characteristics. Ponomareva (2015) rationalizes that his "many years of practical interaction with school principals in the system of upgrading of qualifications and certification of pedagogical and administrative cadres" (p. 37) gives him the insight to be able to evaluate the attributes of what successful principals do. Ponomareva states that the road to being a successful principal starts long before one acquires the title. In fact, he believes that the leadership quality of professional growth begins as a person first enters a classroom as a teacher, which is honed to perfection as that teacher takes on leadership roles among their colleagues. As a classroom teacher, my philosophy is "always more, never less", and I apply this philosophy as I work within my peer unit. A person who is willing to put themselves "out there" and accept more responsibility for the good of the group I believe, is a person who can evolve into a successful leader. As a leader of a school, the principal is an inspiration to those who work with them, always keeping the moral high ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. I Was On A Mission I was on a mission. A mission to find the answers to burning questions I had after completing my case study #30. It brought on so many mixed feelings about what a school leader can accomplish at a school that has a toxic culture and climate–that being Roosevelt High School (RHS). Let me explain. RHS is a long withstanding neighborhood school with a very diverse student population with a wide variety of academic and social emotional needs. The faculty at RHS has been there for quite some time–thus have tenure. The staff has strong union representation or at least that is what appears to be the case. My principal, assistant principals, and myself were new to RHS. While there, we observed many questionable behaviors and activities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We were in for a huge challenge. Interestingly, I read a book called the "Five dysfunctions of a team" by Patrick Lencioni. It is a leadership fable that tells the story of a team of executives that are not working as a team. They struggle with recognizing their true potential in themselves and their team members. The team also struggles with accepting responsibility and coming to any agreements resulting in negative morale that influence their subsequent departments in a negative way, as well. And what resonated with me is that behaviors, attitudes, and activities like this really happen in the culture of an organization. I saw evidence of each dysfunction in RHS from lack of trust, fear of conflict, lack of accountability, and inattention to results. (Lencione, 2010) You see as a teacher, the assumption is that your main focus is your students in your classroom nothing else matters because the things outside of those walls are things you can't control. However, when you see things through the lens of a leader, certain activities, attitudes, and behaviors are not as controllable or seem right anymore. Therefore, upon that light, as principal you reach out to your leadership team for insight into the causes for the problem of practice and actions needed to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How are the concepts of freedom and discipline encompassed within the prepared environment? Please consider the importance of freedom for the developing child in terms of self–regulation. The first aim of the prepared environment is, as far as it is possible, to render the growing child independent of the adult. –Maria Montessori The Secret of Childhood, 1966 The Montessori Environment is prepared on six principals: Freedom, Structure and Order, Beauty, Nature and Reality, Social Environment, Intellectual Environment. 1. FREEDOM Montessori believed that a child must be free to explore and follow his own natural impulses. Within the prepared ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Montessori's definition of discipline is not something the teacher does to control children. There is a self–discipline in Montessori classroom that means a child is responsible for his/her act. Responsibility to the environment, self–control, self–motivation, self–initiated tasks and way to independence. Children learn decision–making skills through the pro 2. STRUCTURE AND ORDER Montessori believed that there is a sensitive period for order which occurs between the ages of one and three years of age. The structure and order of the prepared environment plays a significant role in children's learning and development. The materials are classified, ordered and sequenced according to the child's stages of development and the particular interests or skills they are designed to serve. This orderly environment provides the child with a sense of security. An early childhood Montessori classroom will have areas for Practical Life, Sensorial, Math, Language and Culture. Within that order, each object has its own place on a shelf. Additionally, each activity has its own organization within itself. Children will find all the pieces needed for the exercise they choose... they have to return the materials to the place and condition in which they found them, so the child becomes an integral partner in maintaining the order of the classroom. 3. • 11. The Role Of The Administration And Construction Of A... It is reverent that HR play a key role in the administration and the construction of a functioning staff. It is the goal of the principal to hire effective personnel to his team, and that these individuals bring forth experiences that might make the team stronger. The principal must think of his weaknesses and try to fulfill people who will pick up the slack in these areas. He also wants individuals who know how to multitask and organize. The principal also need individuals who will tell him if he is wrong, or if there is an easier way to accomplish his mission. According to the passage, we read the principle can do his hiring to convenient himself or he can just pick from the list that the district provides. I believe the principal needs to think of his school as a game of chess. A principal needs to place the right people in the right roles. A principal wants to know his teachers and administration. He needs to know what they can handle and what they have accomplished in their careers. In addition, he needs to know about their life style and see what issues individual might be facing and if they are trying to progress as a teacher. He might have individuals who are hanging on to retire. Which is ok, if they do their job. However, he does not need individuals who are disgruntle and tend to rub off negativity views on new employees. A principal wants individuals who want to grow and has set goals for themselves. A similar theme from both passages is that you have to stand up for what you believe in no matter the cost or outcome. In the passage Celeste's Heart, the story's message shows the theme shared between the two passages. The main character, Celeste is a young student who attends a school in Argentina. During the break periods at school, their teacher would make her class stand in a line and stretch their arms out for two break periods. After getting home from school and realizing the true hardship she faces at school she starts to reflect about it to herself. ¨And next time the Teacher got mad at the class, Celeste ... When attending school in San Francisco, the principle had announced that students were not to wear shorts the following day, regardless of the heat wave approaching. As a result of this, Daniel convinces the grade to go against the principal's words since her announcement had violated student rights. "... I was sent to the principal's office... She asked me if I told everyone to wear shorts. I said yes. She said shorts were distracting to some of the teachers. I said that free dress was one of our rights. She said that shorts led students to have water fights. I said that free dress was one of our rights. She said that she was the principal and she was in charge. I said that free dress was one of our rights. She kept pointing at me. I kept pointing at the pamphlet... until at last she gave up... In eighth grade we got a new version of the pamphlet. Instead of "Students have the right to free dress," it read, "Students have the responsibility to dress appropriately," I threw away. If you stand up for your rights, you can count on the fact that the wicked people will find sneaky ways to change the rules. But you should stand up for your rights anyways..." • 15. Maria Ordered Supplies From Ftc Enterprises 11. Maria ordered supplies from FTC enterprises. Bob, the owner of FTC enterprises, sent a credit application form to Maria. A couple of days later, Maria sent back the credit application with a signature that appeared to be under her name. Bob shipped the supplies thereafter awaiting Maria's payments which never came. Bob later sued Maria for payment collection, but Maria denied ever signing the paperwork and claimed that all credit documents were referred to her receptionist. Is Maria liable? In this case Maria is considered as a disclosed principal and Maria's receptionist is her agent. A disclosed principal is defined as a principal whose identity is known by a third party (Clarkson, 2015, p 644). FTC being the third party in this situation, recognizes Maria as a principal and recognized her receptionist as an extension of Maria's authority. By referring credit documents and inquiries to her receptionist, Maria is granting her receptionist implied authority to process credit documents on her behalf (Clarkson, 2015, p. 643). Therefore, Maria will be held liable regardless of whether or not she was aware of her receptionist's actions. 12. Tiffany hires Tim to drive her car for business purposes. Who are the participants in the budgeting process, and how do they participate? First the management must choose a period of time for which the budget will be used; the most convenient period is of one year. A period can also be of one month in which it is easier to compare the real expenses against the planned expenses. A committee of budgeting formed by several members of the organization executives watch the process of the preparation of the budgeting. This committee sets the rules by which the budgeting must be done and coordinates the budgets that separately are prepared by the different units in the organization, and solves conflicts that may arise to later present the final budgeting plan to the general director and the consul. Instructions must be delivered by the ordinary chain of command. Decisions over the budgeting must be done by the line of command, and the final planning by the general director, while the staff can only give advises, but cannot decide. The person who decides is the budgeting director. His main functions are to inform the mechanism of the budgeting preparation through computers and telecommunications, to give the macroeconomics information, make the necessary calculations, gather the numbers for the budget, and watch that each part of the company gives their proposals on time. In order to meet these customer specifications, Falmer must work toward obtaining their ISO 9001 certification to prove their quality exists, be open to the possibility of a second shift in order to decrease their lead time on products, and continue their impeccable customer service. Geographic Segmentation It is important to ensure that the suppliers are within a certain geographical location of the customers in which they would like to serve. • 21. Framework For Analysis : School Closure Framework for Analysis School closure is a sensitive and complicated situation. Therefore, it should be worked tactfully and strategically. The students' academic learning, safety, and smooth transition during times of changes should be the focal point for any administrator, during a school closure. As human beings, the leaders will experience a broad spectrum of feelings, that will most likely push him or her into a 'rollercoaster of sentiments', while dealing with this type of crisis. However, as leaders and managers, they must control their feelings, while clenching on their values, their knowledge, and their leadership standards to be effective and assertive throughout the process. An effective administrator should lead, their followers, towards a successful transition or, if possible, inspire them to challenge the possibility of closure. As per this case study, Mr. Jones needed to prioritize and balance his responsibilities as an administrator and leader. Roosevelt Neighborhood School was a middle school that was serving a significant number of ELL and minorities, one of the few in a predominantly white district. • 23. Analysis Of The Torso Of Aphrodite During my visit to the Tampa Museum of Art, I observed and viewed various pieces from The Classical World exhibit. While I observed numerous works, one sculpture stood out when I compared it to the others. In this paper, I will be describing The Torso of Aphrodite, using my own viewpoints and the elements of formal art analysis in order to explain its' unique qualities that make it different when compared to other pieces in The Classical World exhibit. The Torso of Aphrodite was constructed in the 1st century A.D. and is made entirely of marble. The torso previously belonged to a life–sized version statue of The Greek goddess of love Aphrodite. From the moment I saw this piece, I knew I was attracted to it in a deeper way. It took more than my initial impression to make an observation, and that is what I enjoyed. The way the robe is draped only part of her body is visible, but this is done in a clever way. The robe is seen draped halfway down her arm, covering the left side of her body, leaving only the upper right part of her chest exposed. As I walked to the back, I noticed the robe was clutched at elbow level. The robe covers most of her back, in a well done manner; little details are exposed on her back, or buttocks. The knot on the top of her left shoulder shows where the robe was tied to maintain her modesty. Looking at the sculpture carefully I did not observe many shapes, but I did see specific lines which were meant to emphasize smoothness and beauty. For example, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Stages Of Standard Diffusion Model Five Stages of Standard Diffusion Model The diffusion process is the communication theory for adopting or rejecting ideas, products, or innovation. Sociologists of the 1950s developed a standard diffusion model that had five different stages. The stages are awareness, interest, evaluation, trial, and adoption. In the awareness stage, an individual is introduced to a new idea, procedure, or product with known knowledge about it. Following the awareness stage is the interest stage which is also referred to as the information stage. In this stage, an individual starts becoming familiar and interested in the new idea, procedure, or product while actively searching for more information regarding it. Thirdly is the evaluation stage where the individual determines the value of the idea, procedure, or product in an attempt of determining whether it is good. The trial stage is next where the person tries out the idea, procedure, or product. Lastly is the adoption stage in which the individual determines that the idea, procedure, or product is overall positive (Moore, Bagin, & Gallagher, p. 74, 2016). These five stages were highly critique by Lionberger and Rogers, because they believed this five stage process did not follow a linear sequence. Everett Rogers later renamed the five stages because of the great impacts the social system plays throughout the process. The five stages of Rogers ' diffusion process are knowledge, persuasion, decision, implementation, and confirmation. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Reflection On Marketing Simulation For the past couple of weeks, I engaged in a marketing simulation. This Simulation was extremely fun while challenging as it taught me the right way to advertise and market a new brand, specifically a computer, that you are putting out to the world. The targeted markets were Chicago, Sao Paulo, Paris, and Shanghai. There were three different segments that were related to PC's and laptops. Those three were Mercedes, Workhorse, and Traveler. Below, I am going to mention what specific decisions I made in each of the six quarters as well as why I made each decision. Quarter 1 &2 Since quarter one was the first quarter of this simulation, I was unaware of how difficult it was going to be to make all the different decisions. Firstly, I had to choose a Company name. Because I was selling computers, I thought that the name "Dev–Tech" was a perfect fit being that this simulation was about development and technology. Next, I had to choose a target segment. I knew going into this simulation that it would be better to invest in the more expensive goods as it would benefit me in the end. The segment that didn't care about price was Mercedes, so that is the segment that I made my first priority. Next, I had to choose what responsibility I wanted to have with the company. I chose to be president because the president has advantage of having overall leadership. Finally, I had to open a sales office. Description And How Segmented Market Segmentation Description/How Segmented Market Segmentation Market segmentation is a strategy that involves breaking down a business's current target market into smaller subsets in order to establish a more defined set of market categories. It is important to first look at the tools available to assist with segmenting the market prior to beginning your segmentation. These tools include the following: Characteristics of Buyers The typical consumer of precision machined parts includes distributors, original equipment manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers. Product Use For Falmer, their consumers typically purchase items in one of four categories including heavy truck and truck related parts, high performance automobile parts, hydraulic hose assemblies and railcar hardware. There are some customers that supply detailed drawings that fall outside of these main categories that Falmer will produce the parts for as long as their equipment has the capabilities to do so. Buyers Needs/Preferences The consumers in the precision machined parts industry typically look for a supplier that can provide a high quality item to the required specification at a low cost and short lead time. They also prefer to have a supplier that keeps them up to date on if any issues arise, provide good customer service, and are willing to replace defective items if they are found. • 44. Employee Training And Thermal Resistance Overall, my strategy entering into the company was to focus more narrowly on specific market segments because it is important for a CEO to understand that a company cannot be all things to all customer. Consequently, I focused the company's attention on two main market segments, segments A and C, which tended to purchase motors in larger volumes. The customers within segment A believed power–to–size ratio and the support from our sales department were the most important aspect for purchasing decisions. Then, segment C customers were willing to pay a higher price point as long as the motors provided the needed thermal resistance and power–to–size ratio. As you can tell both segments placed significant importance on the power–to–size ratio, which allowed the company to easily place this as a necessary budget item. Another important aspect to make the strategy work was to invest in employee training and thermal resistance since these were important factors to the targeted customers. Lastly, the strategy focused heavily on the existing customers within the targeted markets since it is important to develop positive relationships with customers to ensure they increase their purchases and keep coming back for more motors. Now, in order to ensure success of the strategy I needed to make some important decisions. The first decision was to keep the price for the motors at $142 because the company's customers tended to react negatively to price changes. Then, I lowered the discounts ... Such division is an essential part of a detailed description. In the introduction to a description, a statement of the principal parts into which the mechanism can be divided serves two purposes: the first is that it is an additional way, and an important one, of giving the reader a general understanding of what the mechanism is. The second purpose is to describe the principal parts one at a time, a list of principal parts in the order in which you wish to discuss them is a clear indication of the organization of the remainder of the description. To understand the piece, a very visual and detailed perspective is needed. Judging by the way the thighs are represented, it appears as though she is striking a contrapposto pose, which makes her appear static. This is determined by dividing the total population of all the states by the number of seats available. In the example given there are 5321, 88 people divided by 100 seats. Divisor = __Total Population = D 532188 = 5321.88 Number of Seats 100 Now you take the number and divide it by the population of each state. This is what they determine the Standard Quota. State Population = Standard Quota 5321.88 Using the Hamilton Method you have to round down to the nearest whole number. If you round up you will come out with more seats per state than are available. For the additional seats left over, they are given out based on the decimal going from largest to the smallest, but every state no matter how small must have a Representative. Because we ended up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The absolute unfairness is the difference between the average numbers of people per representative in each state, i.e... the difference in average constituencies (Apportionment Practice Hamilton, 2015). Relative unfairness is a better measure of unfairness because it takes into account the size of the population of the states. It is calculated as follows. Relative Unfairness = Absolute Unfairness/ Smaller Average Constituency of the two states (Apportionment Practice Hamilton, 2015). State 3 has the highest constituency of 5486.44, state 4 has the lowest constituency of 369. I would subtract the two. 5486.44 369____ = Absolute Unfairness value of 5117.44 5117.44 The relative unfairness is completed by dividing the absolute unfairness by the smallest constituency, so it would be. 5117.44 = 13.87 Relative Unfairness. ... • 63. Calveta Calveta Dining Services, Inc. Jinu JosephPA1115 | Abstract Calveta Dining Services, Inc. was a $2 billion, privately held firm that provided food services to almost 1000 senior living facilities (SLF's) in the United States. Antonio Calveta, the founder of Calveta Dining retired in 2007 after 35 years of leadership and he named his eldest son Frank as the new CEO and told him to double the company's revenues within a space of 5 years. The dilemma that Frank was facing was that even after 2 years into this job of his he did not have any credible strategies to fulfill his father's promise or to attain aggressive growth as his father wanted. The financial challenges of getting into the hospital segment was there but it was always achievable. 3. The greatest positive to Calveta Dining Services was the working culture by which they could prosper in any segment. Interpretation The interpretation that can be derived from the above analysis is that it would be better for Frank to think about diversifying the business rather than acquiring GSD. Even Frank knew that it was a huge risk to acquire GSD considering the heavy debt the business would be in after the acquisition, besides Calveta Dining would find it difficult to train GSD employees to the work culture of Calveta Dining. Frank should not make this decision only with the purpose of meeting his father's goal because this may harm the firm in the long run. Frank had his own problems organizational restructuring to do for Calveta Dining and in such a circumstance if Frank acquired GSD then his problem woul grow from bad to worse because it would not be an easy task to change the entire work culture of GSD within a short span of time, and apart from the debts of acquiring GSD Frank would also need to generate funds for the training of the staff teaching them Antonio's way. • 65. Traction: Manual Or Mechanical Therapy Traction is a manual or mechanical therapy technique that has several different uses. A basic definition for traction would be pulling on a body part in order to straighten a body part or relieve muscle pain. Traction can be used as a means to place some part of the body back into its original position. An example of this might be a dislocated shoulder. To place the humerus back into the joint, pulling force would be applied to the arm. This would allow the humerus to reset back into the shoulder joint. This pulling force can also have an impact on muscle tightness and spasms. Gentle pulling force can stretch out muscles in a particular region of the body and reduce the occurrence of spasms and tightness. Traction is a very effective tool that is used in therapy office every day. One of the more common forms of traction used in therapy is cervical traction. This form can be performed manually by the physical therapist, or it can be performed mechanically by a traction machine. Manual traction is the choice of many therapist simply because of the cost involved in mechanical traction equipment. Manual cervical traction is performed by the therapist using their hands or some accessory to gently pull on the patient's neck. This technique can be performed in a sitting or standing position. If the hands are used, the therapist will grip the patient's neck directly under the occipital bone of the skull. A towel or padded strap can also be used to ... • 67. Lumbriculus Viegatus Lab Report Lumbriculus variegatus, also known as blackworms, reproduce by asexual fragmentation in a lab setting. They are easy to handle and keep alive, needing only fresh spring water every few days. They are viewed under a stereomicroscope and slowed down by exposure to ice water for easier cutting. The object of the experiment was to test whether the amount of segments left in a cut worm affected the regeneration rate of the worm. We cut the worms into small and long anterior and posterior fragments, along with separating the heads and tails. We predicted the pieces of worms with the most segments (the long anterior and long posterior) would survive and regenerate better than the smaller sections. Our results showed the null hypothesis was supported because the short anterior segments grew the most. The reason for this occurrence may be the worms' survival, regardless of segment length, is unpredictable. This would also offer an explanation as to why our control worms died in the end of the experiment. Introduction Lumbriculus variegatus, also known as blackworms or California blackworms, are known for their abilities to regenerate. Lumbriculus variegatus are in the phylum Annelida, class Oligochaeta, order Lumbriculidae, family Lumbriculidae, and genus Lumbriculus variegatu. (Drewes 2004). Blackworms are easy to maintain, needing only spring creek water to keep them alive. A blackworm has about 150 to 250 segments on its body, which is about 10 centimeters long (Drewes 2004). ... Part of the benefits that being the first hitter in the category is the market share yield on those innovative segments (Quickie holds a remarkable 49% market share on the ultralight segment) Quickie also has multiple other advantages (as a part of Sunrise) such as the manufacturing and logistics philosophies like Just–in–Time, lean manufacturing, etc. A factor that accounts for decreasing quality issues and manufacturing costs is using fewer parts versus Invacare's Action wheelchairs (50–100% less parts in Quickie's model), this approach also benefits Hospitals and Nursing Homes' ability to hold inventory in contrast to Invacare's strategy. This Panel Show, entitled "Quiz All Over Our Faces!", will be an amalgamation of several different modern TV shows of the same vein, borrowing certain aspects but not making, per say, a carbon copy of the panel shows in question. Through this we plan to create something that is not so much original but a fresh take on the formula of the panel show. The majority of shows which influence will be drawn from will be of a comedic disposition. So in saying that, the set up of the show will be, that two teams comprised of two people will compete against one another through a number of sections and based on how they perform a points system will distinguish as to who the winning side is a all times The host of the show being the one who puts these challenges to them and distinguishes who is the victor at the end of each section. Like most shows we will begin with an opening VT, comprised of motion graphics and pre recorded material that will be added in. The motion graphics themselves will be created with the programme After Effects and for a more efficient work flow, an online template will be used. The pre recorded material will be of the guests and possibly previous content which has recorded in the studio. At this point in the show both a colour scheme, a flavour of what the show is about and the name of the show will be established. Moving on from this, the Host will introduce himself and then the contestants either side of him, lower thirds used respectively for each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 73. Graduation Speech : Student Based Budget our enrollment decreased from 750 students (2013–2014) to 475 students (2014–2015), which impacted the student based budget. Of the eight teachers we lost, 1 teacher (first year) did meet certification requirements, 4 were first year teachers, two were second year teachers, 2 were "retire rehires", 1 was an experienced transfer (2013–2014) and the other three teachers had more than 10 years teaching experience. Of the 13 teachers, two were specialists that requested a voluntary transfer. I worked collaboratively with my colleagues and human resources to find placements for the six teachers that were involuntarily transferred. Of the 24 classroom teachers at Carole Highlands this year, 11 are non–tenured teachers with less than 3 years of teaching experience. As a result of these experiences, my focus is on the attrition of both beginning and experienced teachers. Leadership Brown and Wynn (2007) found that beginning teachers want a capable leader, one with a clear vision, but one who includes teachers in decision–making. According to participants in their study, teachers and principals alike want supportive and shared leadership. Brown and Wynn's (2007) study shows that principals with a proven track record of retaining teachers are accessible, establish trust, know their teachers, and are proactive. Angelle's (2006) findings support this work. Angelle found that administrators whose priorities rested with discipline, paperwork, or leaving teachers alone, maximized ... • 75. Approaches to Inclusion 1 Introduction In this report the researcher aims to demonstrate a critical understanding of the principle that early years settings should provide for the needs of all children, including those with sensory and learning needs, gifted children, and children from remote and nomadic populations, children from linguistic, ethnic or religious minorities and children from other disadvantaged or marginalised areas or groups. For the purpose of this report, the researcher will use the term 'Children with Special Educational Needs' to refer to the above groups. The researcher will provide a critical awareness on how theoretical models have changed ways of thinking about inclusive practice and the implications of this on legislation and policy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All educational policies, says the Framework, 'should stipulate that disabled children attend the neighbourhood school, 'that would be attended if the child did not have a disability.' (UNESCO, 1994., p.24) There is seemingly little doubt that the catalyst for inclusion within the English system lies in the sentiments outlined in the Salamanca Statement. As Hornby, (2002)., asserts, 'The statement has resulted in what, at times, appears to be a tidal wave of inclusion intent preached with overpowering zeal by the church of inclusion.' (p.7) It is observable, though, that despite this 'missionary zeal' the implementation of inclusionary practices, within the English system, began slowly. Although some might argue that the last Conservative government, through the Code of Practice (DFE, 1994), encouraged children with special educational needs to 'join fully with their peers in the curriculum and the life of the setting' (p.11), others contended that: 'the code only addressed 'identification and standardisation' in an attempt to end the vagueness of special educational needs, previously delivered through a postcode lottery of provision.' (Clough, 1998. p.2) 2.3 Theoretical Models It is commonly accepted that there are two contrasting 'models' or 'views' of disability currently present within modern day ... What Is Franchising? 1 Introduction The purpose of this paper is to shed some light on the concept of franchising from the viewpoint of the franchisor, discuss its different uses taking into account the advantages and disadvantages attached to them, and link these considerations to a firm's internationalization decision–making process. 1 What is franchising ? Franchising as it is generally known today is a form of marketing or distribution in which a parent company customarily grants an individual or a relatively small company the right, or privilege, to do business in a described manner over a certain period of time in a specified place. The parent company is termed the franchisor; the receiver of the privilege is called the franchisee; and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This has led to general unwillingness to make investments and reduction in the number of companies. Franchising has survived the recession rather well, though. The number of companies that follow the franchising concept has increased in almost all countries or has at least not decreased. For example, in the United States it has grown at an annual rate of seven percent (Laakso 1995, 84). 2 INTERNATIONALIZATION theory A firm's initial decision on whether to internationalize or not will be discussed briefly and in a general manner in order to understand the motivation that drives firms abroad in the first place. Factors that combine internationalization theory and franchising as a strategic choice during that process will be discussed in more detail later in this chapter. 1 Decision to internationalize The goals of business are to increase or stabilize profits. Success is influenced by foreign sales and foreign resources. International business includes all business transactions that involve two or more countries. In order to pursue any of its international objectives, a company must establish international operational forms, some of which may be significantly different from those used domestically. The choice of forms is influenced not only by the objective being pursued, but also by the environments in which the firm must operate. These environmental conditions also

  • 82. The Draft Theory Of Practice Essay Draft Theory of Practice I have been in the education field for twenty–three years and have had the opportunity to work with many administrators which all have had very different leadership styles and personalities. I have been lucky to be able to work with a few principals that were, in my opinion, effective and transformational leaders. Unfortunately, I have also had the occasion of working with principals that made it almost unbearable to continue working in an uninviting and toxic atmosphere, which resulted in many seasoned educators leaving the campus or the education field all together. All of these experiences, good and bad, have made me develop my own perception of administration and of the principalship itself; formulating my own theory as to what I believe to be the most effective way, as an administrator, to promote success of each student. My theory of practice consists of goals which depend on getting all stakeholders involved in the success of our students. Some of my goals in the principalship are: promoting a safe school environment for students and staff, performing my duties as a principal in an ethical manner which will encourage teachers and students to also act with integrity and honesty. It is my belief that attaining these first two goals will foster the relationships needed to work collaboratively on the vision and mission of our school; getting all stakeholders involved, students, teachers, support staff, parents, community members, surrounding ...
