A bite registration is made by having the patient bite into softened baseplate wax or modeling wax in order to record how their teeth come together. The wax is softened and placed over the teeth, and the patient is instructed to bite down normally until the wax hardens. This bite registration is then used to articulate study models to accurately reproduce the patient's occlusion.

2. • A bite registration is an occlusal
representation of how the maxillary and
mandibular teeth intercuspate .
• Bite registration is essential for the
subsequent articulation of the maxillary and
mandibular study models.

3. Bite registration via Baseplate wax/bite wax
/modeling wax
Method:
• Base plate wax is manufactured in 3"x 5" sheets
and sold by the box.
• The 3"x5" sheet may easily be cut with a lab knife
to accommodate the width of the dental aches .
• If modeling wax is used , then it is rolled to a
thickness of 10 mm and bent to make arch form.
• It is then placed in the cast and gently place on the
occlusal surface and the excess wax distal to the
last erupted tooth is cut off. The excess wax on the
buccal surface also trim with wax knife.

4. • Educate the pt about the purpose and
procedure of bite registration.
• . It is placed in the patient's mouth after it
has been softened in warm water.
• It is placed over the occlusal surfaces of
either dental arch, depending on the
operator's preference.
• The patient is instructed to bite normally
into the wax in centric occlusion.
• The patient's teeth should remain embedded
in the wax while the wax cools and
hardens.

5. • The operator may choose to accelerate the
cooling and hardening process by applying
air from the air/water syringe.
• Once this is accomplished, the operator
carefully removes the wax bite registration
from the oral cavity while making every
attempt to avoid distorting it.
• It is then inspected for accuracy and
immediately disinfected by spraying or
immersion.
