Introduction
SALESCALL Inc. has thousands of salespeople throughout the country. A sample of 100 salespeople is selected, and data is collected on the following variables.

SALES (the number of sales made this week)

CALLS (the number of sales calls made this week)

TIME (the average time per call this week)
4.
YEARS (years of experience in the call center)
5.
TYPE (the type of training, either group training, online training of no training)
The data file can be found in Doc Sharing titled Course Project Data.xlsx.
This project is due in three parts, at the end of Weeks 2, 6, and 7 respectively.
PROJECT PART A: Exploratory Data Analysis

Open the file Course Project Data.xlsx from the Course Project Data Set folder in Doc Sharing.

For each of the five variables, process, organize, present, and summarize the data. Analyze each variable by itself using graphical and numerical techniques of summarization. Use Minitab as much as possible, explaining what the printout tells you. You may wish to use some of the following graphs: stem-leaf diagram, frequency or relative frequency table, histogram, boxplot, dotplot, pie chart, or bar graph. Caution: not all of these are appropriate for each of these variables, nor are they all necessary. More is not necessarily better. In addition, be sure to find the appropriate measures of central tendency and measures of dispersion for the above data. Where appropriate, use the five number summary (the min, Q1, median, Q3, max). Once again, use Minitab as appropriate, and explain what the results mean.

Analyze the connections or relationships between the variables. There are 10 pairings here (SALES and CALLS, SALES and TIME, SALES and YEARS, SALES and TYPE, CALLS and TIME, CALLS and YEARS, CALLS and TYPE, TIME and YEARS, TIME and TYPE, YEARS and TYPE). Use graphical and numerical summary measures. Explain what you see. Be sure to consider all 10 pairings. Some variables show clear relationships, while others do not.

Prepare your report in Microsoft Word (or some other word processing package),
integrating your graphs and tables with text explanations and interpretations.
Be sure that you have graphical and numerical back up for your explanations and interpretations. Be selective in what you include in the report. I'm not looking for a 20-page report on every variable and every possible relationship (that's 15 things to do). Rather, what I want you do is to highlight what you see for
three individual variables
(no more than one graph for each, one or two measures of central tendency and variability, and two or three sentences of interpretation). For the 10 pairings, identify and report only on
three of the pairings,
again using graphical and numerical summary (as appropriate), with interpretations.
Please note that at least one of your pairings must include TYPE, and at least one of your pairing.

Applied Managerial Statistics
Course Project
Introduction
SALESCALL Inc. has thousands of salespeople throughout the country. A sample of 100 salespeople is selected, and data is collected on the following variables.
1.
SALES (the number of sales made this week)
2.
CALLS (the number of sales calls made this week)
3.
TIME (the average time per call this week)
4.
YEARS (years of experience in the call center)
5.
TYPE (the type of training, either group training, online training of no training)
The data file can be found in Doc Sharing titled Course Project Data.xlsx.
This project is due in three parts, at the end of Weeks 2, 6, and 7 respectively.
PROJECT PART A: Exploratory Data Analysis

Open the file Course Project Data.xlsx from the Course Project Data Set folder in Doc Sharing.

For each of the five variables, process, organize, present, and summarize the data. Analyze each variable by itself using graphical and numerical techniques of summarization. Use Minitab as much as possible, explaining what the printout tells you. You may wish to use some of the following graphs: stem-leaf diagram, frequency or relative frequency table, histogram, boxplot, dotplot, pie chart, or bar graph. Caution: not all of these are appropriate for each of these variables, nor are they all necessary. More is not necessarily better. In addition, be sure to find the appropriate measures of central tendency and measures of dispersion for the above data. Where appropriate, use the five number summary (the min, Q1, median, Q3, max). Once again, use Minitab as appropriate, and explain what the results mean.

Analyze the connections or relationships between the variables. There are 10 pairings here (SALES and CALLS, SALES and TIME, SALES and YEARS, SALES and TYPE, CALLS and TIME, CALLS and YEARS, CALLS and TYPE, TIME and YEARS, TIME and TYPE, YEARS and TYPE). Use graphical and numerical summary measures. Explain what you see. Be sure to consider all 10 pairings. Some variables show clear relationships, while others do not.

Prepare your report in Microsoft Word (or some other word processing package),
integrating your graphs and tables with text explanations and interpretations.
Be sure that you have graphical and numerical back up for your explanations and interpretations. Be selective in what you include in the report. I'm not looking for a 20-page report on every variable and every possible relationship (that's 15 things to do). Rather, what I want you do is to highlight what you see for
three individual variables
(no more than one graph for each, one or two measures of central tendency and variability, and two or three sentences of interpretation). For the 10 pairings, identify and report only on
three of the pairings,
again using graphical and numerical summary (as appropriate), with interpretations.
Please note that at least one of your pairings must include TYPE, and at least one of your pairing.

Background:
Performance Drinks, LLC is owned by Dave N. Port. Performance Drinks produces a variety of sports centered drinks. They began operations in 1993 shortly after Mr. Port graduated with his M.B.A. from Davenport University. The company saw early success as sports and fitness nutritional products gained new popularity in the 1990’s. Financially the company is sound and has been wise in controlling their growth over the years. However, within the last 18 months Mr. Port has noticed a drop in overall company profitability. This is especially troubling considering that the company has continued to experience top-line growth. Mr. Port and his management team have been considering developing a new product line. Prepare for this Discussion as follows:
Review Exhibit 4-6 "The Traditional Family Life Cycle" on page 144 in Essentials of Health Care Marketing. Then, look at Figure 4-6 "The Modernized Family Life Cycle" on page 145 of this text. In addition, you may have additional modifications to these two diagrams that you would like to make based on contemporary conceptions of individuals and families. Where would you place yourself in a contemporary life cycle? With this in mind, consider what is important to you as a health care consumer. Reflect on insights from the Learning Resources regarding buyer behavior and think about various sociocultural influences that may affect your choices. How do you think decision-making sequences might differ for you as opposed to a selection of other consumer types?
Next, change your perspective from one of a consumer to one of a provider. Bring to mind an actual health care organization that offers a particular product or service of interest to you. Suppose this organization wanted to appeal to you as a consumer. How would you expect this organization to apply the information on market segmentation presented in Chapter 6 of the text? What elements of product strategy outlined in Chapter 8 of the text are relevant for the product or service you have selected?
