This document discusses two microbes - Lactobacillus and Rhinovirus. Lactobacillus is a rod-shaped, Gram-positive bacteria that produces lactic acid and inhabits the gastrointestinal tract of humans and animals. It reproduces through binary fission and has several useful effects like inhibiting harmful bacteria and producing enzymes to aid in digestion. Rhinovirus is a small, non-enveloped virus that causes the common cold. It inhabits the nasal passages of humans, reproduces within 8-12 hours, and spreads through respiratory droplets. Infection leads to cold symptoms like runny nose, cough and sore throat that typically last 2-14 days.
