1. Bioetich introduction.
Biotechnology is a branch of biology relating the use of living beings to obtain goods
or services useful to society.
Bioethic is the study of ethical problems arising from these researches and their
applications; there are countless issues about bioethics: some of the most known are
abortion, assisted suicide, contraception, organ transplant, body modification in
general.
For example, somebody consider abortion a wrong choice because the unborn is
already alive, his body is working and soon he’ll be in the world like all of us. It’s a
question of different points of view, because we also could say the “baby” isn’t really
live, so we are not committing any crime, primarily because abortion is usually
adopted in delicate cases.
The reasoning is similar for all topics, it’s very difficult to understand what is right or
not: for example, the use of ogm in agriculture is usually considered wrong, but
sometimes disinformation does its part, along with wrong prejudices, and people
don’t know what they are talking about.
Another important factor is religion, in fact some religions deny blood transfusions or
contraceptives. In my opinion this is not acceptable, there are parents who would let
their sons die to follow their faith.
