ecosystem that a species uses.
• In the Pacific NW ecosystem, salmon live in
the water and eat insects or other fish. At the
same time, trees grow on the land and absorb
nutrients from the ground. They are in the
same ecosystem but different niches.

organisms adapt to survive best within their
niche.
