A junior data analyst working in the marketing analytics team at Cyclistic -a bike-share company in Chicago- The marketing team wants to design a new marketing strategy to convert casual riders into annual members. • Data has been cleaned, organized and visualized using R. And recommendations were given based on the key findings.
I just finished the Coursera Data Analytics Certificate course and decided to do the optional capstone data analysis project. I had the option of choosing my own project or working with Chicago’s real bikeshare data set compiled by Divvy by Lyft. After looking into the data and the program, I saw that Lyft does a bikeshare program in my home city of San Francisco called Bay Wheels so I decided to do the bikeshare project but work with the Bay Wheels data instead.
In this project, I am the junior data analyst on a marketing analytics team for a fictional company called Cyclistic. My role is to ask, prepare, process, analyze, share, and act. While the scenario is fictional, the data and findings are real.
The director of marketing believes the company’s future success depends on maximizing the number of annual memberships and they want to know how casual riders and members use the bikes differently. My report will be shared with my analytics team, the director and the executive team.
The director has set a clear goal: Design marketing strategies aimed at converting casual riders into annual members. In order to do that, however, the marketing analyst team needs to better understand how annual members and casual riders differ, why casual riders would buy a membership, and how digital media could affect their marketing tactics. Moreno and her team are interested in analyzing the Cyclistic historical bike trip data to identify trends
My assignment is to answer: how annual members and casual riders differ.
I am responsible for producing a report with the following deliverables:
1. A clear statement of the business task
2. A description of all data sources used
3. Documentation of any cleaning or manipulation of data
4. A summary of my analysis
5. Supporting visualizations and key findings
6. Top three recommendations based on my analysis

Mobile: Biggest Data of All by Sima Vasa of Paradigm Sample - Presented at In...InsightInnovation
In this session we will explore the explosion of Big Data through the mobile research lens. Mobile technology and the continuously connected consumer are major drivers of the Big Data phenomenon. More importantly, the collection of passive data via mobile technology along with the collection of targeted consumer insights enables undisputed market research and takes Big Data to the next level. In this session you will have the opportunity to examine some key data streams that can be collected via mobile devices and married to survey input. We will share case studies and also pose the challenges and opportunities facing the market research industry.

We used crowd-sourcing to solve the problems of cycling information and companionship.
During the interview process, we learned that the emotional needs of cyclists are based on the interactions between groups, whereas their personal needs were comparatively more rational, such as the pursuit of superior data or scores and to challenge themselves.
Future research development regarding cyclists should switch from individual experience to social needs and incorporate studies of psychological gratification.
This paper aims to examine the links between consumer behavior and the mode of transportation used to access local destinations with the greater goal of providing the empirical evidence needed to inform decision making and educate the public. The findings presented here are the result of the first study of this type and scale in the United States. We limit our scope to the examination of the relationships between consumer expenditures and their trip making behavior, including mode of travel and frequency of trips. This analysis is guided by the following objectives: 1) quantifying the various transportation mode shares of customers for a variety of business types, locations and transportation contexts; and 2) comparing levels of consumer spending & frequency of visits by travel modes. This analysis made use of intercept surveys of local business completed at 78 establishments in the Portland metropolitan area. The findings support the notion that customers that arrive by modes other than the automobile are competitive consumers, spending similar amounts or more, on average, than their counterparts using automobiles. They are also more frequent patrons on average, presenting perhaps a unique marketing opportunity for these businesses.
Data Centers - Striving Within A Narrow Range - Research Report - MCG - May 2...pchutichetpong
M Capital Group (“MCG”) expects to see demand and the changing evolution of supply, facilitated through institutional investment rotation out of offices and into work from home (“WFH”), while the ever-expanding need for data storage as global internet usage expands, with experts predicting 5.3 billion users by 2023. These market factors will be underpinned by technological changes, such as progressing cloud services and edge sites, allowing the industry to see strong expected annual growth of 13% over the next 4 years.
Whilst competitive headwinds remain, represented through the recent second bankruptcy filing of Sungard, which blames “COVID-19 and other macroeconomic trends including delayed customer spending decisions, insourcing and reductions in IT spending, energy inflation and reduction in demand for certain services”, the industry has seen key adjustments, where MCG believes that engineering cost management and technological innovation will be paramount to success.
MCG reports that the more favorable market conditions expected over the next few years, helped by the winding down of pandemic restrictions and a hybrid working environment will be driving market momentum forward. The continuous injection of capital by alternative investment firms, as well as the growing infrastructural investment from cloud service providers and social media companies, whose revenues are expected to grow over 3.6x larger by value in 2026, will likely help propel center provision and innovation. These factors paint a promising picture for the industry players that offset rising input costs and adapt to new technologies.
According to M Capital Group: “Specifically, the long-term cost-saving opportunities available from the rise of remote managing will likely aid value growth for the industry. Through margin optimization and further availability of capital for reinvestment, strong players will maintain their competitive foothold, while weaker players exit the market to balance supply and demand.”

15. Several takeaways from Travel Route Analysis
Heavy users ride Divvy in downtown area
Females in downtown don’t use Divvy as much as males
It could be attributed to choice in clothes (skirt, heels)
Men’s reckless behavior; riding a bicycle in the middle of Chicago traffic with taxis
The female usage pattern is focused on the residential area, like Lincoln Park
Visitors ride Divvy along with Michigan lake road
Take advantage of the bike trail
