The document provides architectural layouts and design details for a coffee shop called "Brazilian Brews" located in City Square Mall, Ajmer, India. It includes site location information, multiple architectural layouts showing the floor plan, door/window layout, furniture layout, and circulation. It also provides elevations and design development details showing how geometric shapes, specifically squares, were used in the design concept for the main entrance and covered area of the café. The layouts and designs were created by Bhagyashri Simpson, a second year commercial interior design student.
5. CASE STUDY
You are supposed to design a window display of a product of your
choice.
58
PRODUCT SELECTED FOR WINDOW DISPLAY
The product I selected to a design the window display for, is
Smartphones.
The idea of choosing a smartphone as a product for my window
display is that not much thought is given to its display. As a result, there
are usually no window displays for smartphones, and if there are, they
always consist of posters of celebrities with the product.
My design for the window display is an effort to change the primeval
notion of display for smartphones.

Site Location
The shop is located at City Square Mall.
City Square Mall Ajmer is the most famous shopping malls in Ajmer and
a major attractions for locals here. It was the first Mall & Multiplex that
was built in the Ajmer city and was very famous since it’s opening. CSM

The glass used for

is Toughened Glass

The colours used for
the window display
are Blue and White,
that are taken from
the company’s
logo.
The company’s logo has been
placed right in the center in a
circle of 1 feet diameter.
Principles followed:
• The logo in the center acts as an
Emphasis Point, as it is the only
bright colour used in the display.
• The arrangement of smartphones
follow Radial Balance.
• The entire design also follows the
Principle of Harmony.
The complete depth of the
Window Display is 5’.
To design the window display of a smart café (smartphone store), a large prop of a vintage telephone has been taken. The latest smartphones are then
placed in the prop’s (telephone’s) keys, the latest of all being placed at top, right in the middle.
To place the
smartphones,
mobile holders are
fixed in the circles
(i.e. keys of the
telephone).
25. Plan and design a coffee shop based on a concept and work upon creating an ambience. For
space planning, consider anthropometrics and ergonomics; and the designing is to be done
corresponding to the principles and elements of design.
CASE STUDY
RESTAURANT DESIGN PORTFOLIO
Prior to taking up the case study, I created a lookbook of coffee shops designed around the
world. Further, I did an extensive market survey of cafes operating in and around Ajmer, and did
a SWOT analysis for the same to comprehend the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and
Threats of each.
31
The type of service I have chosen for my coffee shop is COUNTER SERVICE. I have provided with
a TOKEN DISPLAY SYSTEM for the same.
26. The site is located on the third floor of City Square
Mall.
City Square Mall Ajmer is the most famous shopping
mall in Ajmer and a major attraction for the locals
here. It is the first Mall & Multiplex that was built in the

58. CASE STUDY
I was assigned with the case study of creating a light fixture based on what I have learnt about origami.
Origami is the art of paper folding, which is often associated with Japanese culture. In modern usage, the
word "origami" is used as an inclusive term for all folding practices, regardless of their culture of origin. The
goal is to transform a flat square sheet of paper into a finished sculpture through folding and sculpting
techniques.
102
60. STEPS OF CONSTRUCTION
I took two sheets measuring 60cm x 35 cm each for creating this light fixture.
Following are the steps of construction for the same:
Step 1: I drew twelve 5 cm vertical lines, dividing the paper in 12 segments.
Step 2: I then drew diagonal lines intersecting the previous vertical lines, so that they
formed a diamond shaped pattern.
Step 3: I folded along the vertical lines. Every line followed the same direction.
60cm
35cm
104
61. Step 4: I proceeded to fold the first diagonal line into a mountain fold, followed by
the consecutive line being folded into a valley fold. I followed this step till the entire
sheet was folded completely (as shown in the adjoining figure).
Step 5: I repeated the previously mentioned steps on the second sheet.
Step 6: Finally, I joined the two sheets along their lengths by a wire and fixated a
bulb inside.
105
63. STEPS OF CONSTRUCTION
I took three sheets, cutting each into a hexagon of radius 10 inches for creating this light
fixture.
Following are the steps of construction for the same:
Step 1: I drew a vertical line and a horizontal line in the center of the hexagon.
Step 2: I then drew two diagonals from one corner to another making a cross on the
hexagon.
Step 3: I then drew two lines, parallel to the vertical line, from the two adjacent edges. Then I
drew diagonal lines parallel to the edges of the hexagon from the four points of the
previously drawn vertical lines.
107
64. 108
Step 4: I folded along all the lines, to form creases.
Step 5: After making the creases, I cut out a part of the shape so formed (as
shown in the figure).
Step 6: I had then cut from each of the corner of hexagon to the creases
formed (as shown in the figure).
Step 7: In the given figure, the arrows denote how the triangles will be stuck to
each other. Finally, I proceeded to fold and stick the triangles formed until a
ball like structure was created.
Step 8: Finally, I punched a hole on the top-most point of the fixture, inserted
a wire from the same and attached a bulb holder with the bulb from the
bottom.
66. STEPS OF CONSTRUCTION
I took an A3 sized sheet for creating this light fixture.
Following are the steps of construction for the same:
Step 1: I folded the sheet into a series of pleats of
equal width in accordion style.
Step 2: I then folded the accordion-style compressed
sheet from the center in such a manner that it
formed a 90˚ angle when halved. Upon unfolding
the sheet, the creases so formed in the center
formed a criss-crossed pattern.
Step 3: I proceeded to fold each line into a series of
mountain-valley folds, consecutively.
110
67. Step 4: I then stuck all the sides of the top and bottom ends of the sheet with
an adhesive.
Step 5: To fix the lamp, I attached a cardboard base behind the sheet, whose
center is protruding at the center.
Step 6: Finally, I drilled a hole at the center of the cardboard to place a bulb
inside.

Executive furniture is specially designed for use by top executives. These are
expensive furnitures, designed or intended for executives and other people at a

Executive furniture mainly consists of executive desks and executive chairs.
