3. On the 1st of October 2011 a client came to
me in the design workshop and asked me to
design a retail store for his technology
company. The client told me that he work in a
company called RAZER, and that he wanted
me to design a retail store in the city centre of
Glasgow because there are not many
technology retail stores in Glasgow.
The client wishes to provide all various of
technology for the customers to try out in a
leaning workshop and a gaming area for those
who want to play. The other main thing is to
give a shopping experience for the customers
in the store so that they can try out the latest of
technology in their hand instead of looking up
the products online. In the space it will be a
sleek and modern design style to the interior
including some design features to reflect the
technology. The last feature is to make the
interior work well with the design scheme like
the circulation of the space and the layout of
how the display units work.

4. The aim & objective in the report outlined the importance needs for the design
scheme to be a modern and contemporary retail technology store and also the
benefit to be a successful design. I’ve looked at the plan of the building; the ground
floor and first floor are quite big and open. The client would like the space to be
simple with not too many “features” to the interior. The clients also want me to
reflect on some of their products that can be incorporated in the space. Also design
the signage for the store and the name for the front of the shop. The ground floor
can be filled with a couple of different zones like a counter desk, display products
area, storage space, and delivery area. The first floor can also be filled with
different zones like a managers offices, a staff room and a works shop. For the
learning room the space can be fitted with sound acoustics fabric that the space
can not be loud that much and also same with the gaming room. In the space I was
thinking of making a different area for the learning and gaming areas has to be
sectioned off from the store. The other importance is an admin room so that the
staff can check is all the technology is connected to the network. The products
display units could be recycled plastic or wood with some interesting shapes may
include to be a wall mount display unit or on the floor display unit or hanging mid
air. The other idea is to add some lighting on the display units to make the products
stand out. The clients want the space to be ambient of colour to reflect the products
as well as the natural colours. The space could include some recycled materials
like reclaimed wood, plastics and so on. To consider the importance of sustainable
material like bamboo wood floor panels, which are really strong and quick to grow.
The building’s big windows can get most of natural light from the windows and in
the space can recommended low energy lights on the space. Also the space can
have sensors lights in the toilets that can save energy.

5. The clients has a well established
and small retail company called ‘Razer’ in
some other countries and also online. The
clients contacted me to design a retail store
in the UK so that they can expand on their
company.
The client’s name Min-Liang Tan
and Robert Krakoff are the president
of the ‘Razer’ company. The ‘Razer’
company has a good reputation for
designing laptops and other technology with
the state of the art chips and motherboards
etc. The ‘Razer’ company formed in 1998 in
San Diego, California it was a small company
then on the few years ahead the company
expanded because of their innovative
technology, which people
around the world really want to buy.

6. Tron Gate building 77 located in the area of
Merchant
City in Glasgow.
Merchant City is one of the oldest location in
Glasgow. The reason that the clients choose
this location is because there isn’t much of
a technology store in merchant city and also
Merchant city was renewed into a modern
style of buildings using the materials of the
existing exterior of most of the other buildings.
In the vicinity Merchant city is a well know
location in Glasgow for bars, art stores,
universities, offices and apartments. Also this
location has a wide range of clients and that
the merchant city is a well known location for
tourists, public transport and the Tron Gate
theatre. They is also St. Enoch’s shopping
centre near by and Argyle Street. This location
will really benefit the business and a
successful store.

7. The Tron gate building is a historical landmark in
Glasgow which the Tron gate used to be a church
in the 16th century then on the 17th century they
add a steeple to the church later the church got
burnt down near the end on the 17th century. On
the 19th century they rebuilt the original Tron gate
and reopened the building on 1989 keeping the old
feature of the sand stone design of the building.
The clients want me to design the interior of the
building. The building itself has history and now
being used as a studio space with a big front view.
On the front of the building it has two big front
doors that one of the doors is sealed shut that it’s
not an accessible door but the other is a small door
that is accessible. The feature of the front of the
building is eight big tall windows on the 1st floor
and six tall windows on the ground floor. the other
main feature of the front is the stone work that the
front is a very eye-catching historic peice of sand
stone style with a yellow type of sand colour. The
interior of the building is really open with an stair
case up to the first floor this can really be good for
space planning and come up with different zones
within the space.
