2. Swedish Thumbprint Cookies
Ingredients:
• 1 cup butter, softened
• 1/2 cup white sugar
• 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
• 1/2 cup any flavor fruit jam
Directions
• Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
• Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add sifted flour, and
mix well. Shape dough into 1-inch balls and place on cookie sheets.
Imprint your thumb in the center to make a 1/2-inch indentation.
Fill with your favorite preserves.
• Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown at the edges.

3. Butter Snow Flakes
Ingredients:
• 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1 cup butter
• 1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
• 1 cup white sugar
• 1 egg yolk
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 teaspoon orange zest
Directions:
• Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Sift together the flour, salt, and cinnamon; set aside.
• In a medium bowl, cream together butter and cream cheese. Add sugar and egg yolk; beat until light and
fluffy. Stir in the vanilla and orange zest. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Fill a cookie press or pastry
bag with dough, and form cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet.
• Bake for 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the cookies are golden brown on the peaks and
on the bottoms. Remove from cookie sheets at once to cool on wire racks.

4. Soft Christmas Cookies
Ingredients:
• 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 cup margarine, softened
• 1 1/2 cups white sugar
• 2 eggs
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Directions:
• Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together, set aside. In a large bowl, cream together the margarine
and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Gradually
blend in the sifted ingredients until fully absorbed. Cover dough, and chill for 2 hours.
• Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets. On a clean floured surface,
roll out small portions of chilled dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut out shapes using cookie cutters.
• Bake 6 to 8 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are barely brown. Remove from cookie
sheets to cool on wire racks.

5. Classic Gingerbread Cutouts
Ingredients:
• 1/2 cup butter, softened
• 1/2 cup brown sugar
• 2/3 cup molasses
• 2 eggs
• 4 cups all-purpose flour, divided
• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
• 1 pound confectioners' sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
• 3 egg whites
Directions:
• Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
• In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until smooth. Stir in the molasses and eggs. Combine 1 1/2 cups of the flour, baking soda,
salt, allspice, cloves, cinnamon, and ginger; beat into the molasses mixture. Gradually stir in the remaining flour by hand to form a stiff dough.
• Divide dough into 2 pieces. On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes using cookie cutters. Place
cookies 1 inch apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
• Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool
completely.
• In a medium bowl, sift together confectioners' sugar and cream of tartar. Blend in egg whites. Using an electric mixer on high speed, beat for about 5
minutes, or until mixture is thick and stiff. Keep covered with a moist cloth until ready to frost cookies.

6. Molasses Crinkles
Ingredients:
• 3/4 cup shortening
• 1 cup packed brown sugar
• 1 egg
• 1/4 cup molasses
• 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 teaspoons baking soda
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1 teaspoon ground ginger
Directions:
• Cream the shortening and the brown sugar. Stir in the egg and molasses and mix well.
• Combine the flour, baking soda, salt, cloves, cinnamon, and ginger. Add the flour mixture to the shortening
mixture and mix well. Cover and chill dough for at least 2 to 3 hours.
• Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
• Roll dough into balls the size of large walnuts. Roll balls in sugar and place 3 inches apart on the prepared baking
sheets. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 10 to 12 minutes. Let cool for one minute before transferring to
a wire rack to continue cooling.
