Niepce and Atkins
Joseph Nicephore Niepce and Anna Atkins these two people are fundamentally important in the

the same can be said for Atkins. Niepce was born on March 7, 1765, though died in 1833 and
Atkins was born on March 16, 1799, yet died in 1871, it s clear at one point in time these two
both lived at the same time. Niepce s photograph View From His Window at Le Gras and Atkins

The differences are clear cyanotype was a blueprint process that used iron salts that were then

Niepce s piece was from heliographs which were prints from ink and took a very long time to

clear one could even see small details in the Algae. Yet, Niepce s View from His Window at Le

Peace Like a River Essay
Life can be viewed as a battle field, a constant fight between good and evil. In Leif Enger s Peace
Like a River, this scenario was well depicted. In the novel, there was a constant fight taking place
between the good and evil characters, and though based around family, love, and brotherhood, the
novelmainly focused on the conflict between these characters.
This student felt that it was fair to classify the Lands along with Roxanna Cowley, The Shultzs and
Dr. Nokes as the good characters. This was a fair classification as these characters maintained their
positive personas throughout the novel. On the other hand, Superintendent Holgren, Israel Finch,
Tommy Busca, and Jape Waltzer can be classified as the bad characters. The main... Show more

Davy felt that once he destroyed evil, everything would be settled and that his family could go on
like normal, but Davy had turned into a wanted individual; his family was left to battle even more
evil. Jeremiah had been working at Rueben and Swedes school as a janitor. After the two murders
Superintendent Holgren began to treat Jeremiah differently, as he allowed his opinion to determine
whether or not Jeremiah deserved the job. Holgren made work even more difficult and disagreed
with everything that Jeremiah did. Jeremiah, being the calm person that he was, never retaliated
with negative words. He allowed Holgren to mistreat him, even in front of the staff and students in
the school. Holgren finally resorted to firing Jeremiah in front of everyone, but Jeremiah simply
touched his face and walked away. The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men
to do nothing (Budha).
Jeremiah did nothing but simply left things in God s hands. He allowed Holgren to make a fool out
of himself and surprisingly, he healed Holgren s face from those unsightly sores.
Once again good triumphed over evil. This student felt that Jeremiah maintained his composure
and acted just as he should. The best way to deal with situations is to walk away and Jeremiah
proved to have such discipline. The Lands faced a lot of negativity from persons who were once

The Namesake and Bend it Like Beckham Belonging essay
My two texts are The Namesake and Bend it like Beckham . Our prescribed text, Jhumpa Lahiris
The Namesake explores the link to belonging in detail. The emphasis is on Gogol Ganguli. Gogol
struggles with a sense of belonging to his family and his Bengali culture and heritage throughout
his life in the course of the novel. Born and raised in the U.S., while his parents spent their entire
life in India following Bengali cultureand practices and moved on to America as young adults.

individual names are sacred, inviolable. They are not meant to be inherited or shared (28).
However, Gogol grows up living in America, where children are often ashamed of their
differences from others. As a teenager, Gogol desires to blend in and to live unnoticed. This
presents a struggle between two cultures. Ashima and Ashoke want to raise Gogol and his
younger sister with Bengali culture and values. On the other hand Gogol grew wanting to
belong by relating mostly to peers and the surrounding culture in America. It is only much later
in their lives that they begin to truly value their Bengali heritage and that Gogol finds the
importance in his name. During high school Gogol struggles to accept his name as he sees it has
no real significance not him. When Gogol heads for college he rejects his identity completely
and legally changes his name to Nikhil which allows him to somewhat feel a sense of belonging
as this name relates to his Bengali roots, even though he had been ashamed of those exact roots

The Current Punishments For A Student Cheating
It is a melancholy object to those who walk through this great school or travel in the county,
when they see the classes, desks, and lab tables crowded with students, surrounded by three, four,
or six cheet sheets, all in tatters and importuning every finished student for an answer. These
pupils, instead of being able to work for their honest grade, are forced to employ all their time
taking photos of the work of ireful classmates, who, when the next long math worksheet arises,
either turn to cheating for want of sleep, or leave their dear homework in their backpacks to waste
time on Narcos on Netflix, or contrive a stomach ache for desire to abandon educationcompletely

are in great concern about the vast number of students who are counterfeiting homework, gazing
upon the scantrons of others, or applying cellular telephones for acts of in class deviance, and I
have been desired to employ my thoughts what course may be taken to ease the school of so
grievous an encumbrance. I think the advantages by the proposal which I have made are
obvious and many, as well as of the highest importance. For first, as I have already observed, it
would greatly lessen the number of plagiarists, with whom we are overrun around exam week,
being the majority of test takers of the school as well as the most eminent threat to national
security; and who begin their studies the night prior on purpose to finally finish re watching

have chosen rather to finally alot time to putting grades into Edline than carefully scrutinizing
every sideways glance with hawk like precision. Secondly, the ceremonious removal of body parts

Evil nationalism in total war
During 1914, the entire Europe was a powder keg filled not with gunpowder, but pride. Finally, it
blew up with the assassination of the Austrian archduke Franz Ferdinand in the 28th of June. While
Franz Ferdinand was on his way to examine Serbia, he was assassinated by the Serbian nationalist
(Sowards). In response to this action, Austrian angrily announced an ultimatum to Serbia, which
strictly demanded Serbia to end all anti Austrian agitation and punish any Serbian official whoever
involved in the murder plot. However, the refusal of the demand gives many extreme nations like
Germany an opportunity to show and test their army. Meanwhile, nations like Germany has a very

Britain s economy, which after the war Britain was suffering for restoring economy and repair war

Although nationalism is the major causes for the beginning of the World War I, some people think
that nationalism has no connection to it. Many people think that the start of World War I is
causes by Austria wanting to take revenge on the Serbian and therefore send massive troops to
the front line a fought Serbian. However, without nationalism in Serbia, the Austrian archduke
would never be assassinated and as a result Austria has no reason to declared war on Serbia. In

Porter s Five Forces Industry Competition
Porter s Five Forces
Industry Competition / Intensity of Rivalry:
As with every industry and business, there is competition. In the case of the craft beer industry, the
competition is medium and growing. From challenging the big macro breweries, to battling against
new incoming brewery businesses, the craft beer industry is absolutely on the radar for
competition. Macro breweries are still the largest competitors with craft breweries. The major
player in the craft beer industry, according to IBISWorld, is The Boston Beer Company. It holds a
market share in the overall beer industry of only 2.7%, and a revenue of $885.5 million in 2014. In

If consumers prefer a specific beer and keep asking for it at bars, which only have a specific
amount of taps, will put that beer on more often to suit the increased demand. This makes the beer
and the brewery more popular, all the while intensifying the rivalry for bar space.
Suppliers:
The suppliers for craft beer include the source of the ingredients and the source of the materials
used in production. The craft beer industry relies on responsible, dependable, fresh supplies from
different industries to make production and distribution possible. The suppliers for production
include various industries for the basic ingredients; wheat, barley, soybean, corn, yeast, malt, nuts,
sugar and water. Other suppliers for distribution include the packaging industry, which consists of
aluminum, glass, cardboard, and containers. Smaller companies face a financial barrier here when
attempting to make flavorful beers that require high priced raw materials.
The lofty prices of high quality ingredients often act as a barrier to newcomers seeking to establish
a niche in the market. Lastly, the printing industry also plays a role as a supplier by printing labels.
Due to the uniqueness craft brewing methods, not all batches turn out the same, so the industry may
have to charge higher prices based on the cost of production. Since each craft beer style has a
unique measuring and brewing method, there is a large variety

The Difference Between Common Intention Constructive...
The difference between common intention constructive trusts and proprietary estoppel has been
described as illusory (Hayton). Do you agree with this statement? Consider how the case law has
developed and give reasons for your answer.
In his article Equitable Rights of Cohabitees Hayton suggested that the distinction between common
intention constructive trusts and proprietary estoppel has, over time, come to be but illusory and
goes on further to propose that since the general direction of the development of the law has been to
embrace the principle of preventing and remedying unconscionable conduct regardless of whether
the claim brought before them was originally brought under the concept of a constructive trust or
proprietary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Proprietary estoppel, on the other hand, is a legal bar preventing a (first) party from denying
another (second) party s right in first party s property where the second party has incurred costs in
that property to its detriment . Proprietary estoppel, like other types of estoppel, is not a remedy in
itself but a tool to raise estoppel equity , on the basis of which the court is able to decide on the type
of remedy that this equity will satisfy. Similarly to the need for the element of common intention
for the purpose of establishing a constructive trust, there is a need for the establishment of an active
or passive assurance on the part of the defendant that leads to some form of consequential detriment
on the part of the claimant when acting in reliance on that assurance. Thus, there must be a causal
connection between the actions undertaken by the claimant and the initial assurance on the part of
the defendant. The extent and the nature of the detriment suffered by the claimant, however,
appears to be substantially more flexible than that necessary to find the existence of a constructive
trust. For example, in Inwards v Baker [1965], such detriment amounted to the improvement of the
defendant s land, while in Gillett v Holt [2001] it was manifested in both financial and personal
detriment. Yet unlike in most cases involving common intention constructive trusts, in neither of

The Hero vs Villian Dichotomy in Beowulf Essay
Casey Kerins
AP English Literature
10/1/12
In the Epic Beowulf, composed in the 8th century, the reader follows the protagonist, Beowulf, on
a series of adventures to defeat three key monsters. This old English poem uses a series of motifs
to help develop its themes, known as dichotomies. Dichotomies, defined as opposites on the same
spectrum, range from good and evil to young and old, light and dark to Christianity and paganism.
All these dichotomies are represented clearly in the text; however the concept of Heroes and
Villains can be pulled in many different directions. Although Beowulfis always the hero, it is
questionable as to if his three opponents are simply villains. In the first of Beowulf s three battles,
he fights ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She was mournful and attacked Heorot to avenge the death of her son. Being more of an angry,
scared woman and not a bloodthirsty monster, she quickly realized her mistake in attacking and
fled for her life, taking a chieftain with her. Beowulf went to destroy the beast, and succeeded in
bloodily killing Grendel s mother. The text says he smote so ferociously that it caught her by the
neck, breaking her bones (57). Beowulf again proved victorious, a hero in the eyes of the Danes.
This second battle is more complicated than the first. Although one can merely say Beowulf is
the hero, Grendel s mother is the villain and be done with it, further thought suggests it is not
that simple. As a warrior and hero, Beowulf upholds himself to the heroic code, calling for
courage, honor, and vengeance. If our standards for a hero rest on these three qualities, is not
Grendel s mother as heroic as the Hero? She is honorable in trying to avenge her son s death, just
as Beowulf was with Grendel and the Danes. She shows courage by attacking Heorot, full of
warriors, and obviously wants vengeance for her son s death. Although Grendel s mother is ugly in
appearance and a descendent of Cain, therefore cursed and evil, she is justified in retaliating, and
possesses the three qualities of a hero. The final battle takes place fifty years after Beowulf defeats
Grendel and his mother, and he is now an old king. Beneath

The Accomplishments Of Sam Houston
Contrary to the typical stereotypes of Texans, Sam Houston was much more than a drunkard and
an excellent gunslinger. Although, he possessed these traits as well, Houston displayed a certain
level of maturity, honor, and critical thinking that most men, or even women, at the time did not
own. To assume Sam Houston was a one trick pony, or only skilled in one aspect merely because
of his heritage and place of birth would be an understatement, as his father was a major . The tall,
handsome troublemaker did not fit in with the standard expected of boys or men during his time,

In his early life, and for the rest of it, Sam Houston s reputation was that of a rebel and a

Should Nuclear Power Plants Be Banned
Should nuclear power plants be banned?
Nuclear power plants have been around for many years. The first nuclear power plant was built in
1954. The controversy over them is whether they are harmful or beneficial to the environment and
to humans. We as humans tend use a lot of energy. Nuclear power plants are so called a strong
candidate for supplying our energy. There are many harmful remarks on nuclear powerplants, and
today I am here to talk about why they should be potentially reduced if not banned. For starters it
can lead to cancer for children young of age, it can be used a weapon for destroying or targeting
our country, and how expensive they are related to other fuel factors. For instance, nuclear
power plants are shown to have an effect on kids with cancer. According to Ten Strikes Against
Nuclear Power, There are growing concerns that living near even accident free nuclear plants
increases the risk for childhood leukemia and other cancers. One Texas study found increased
cancer rates in north central Texas since a nuclear power plant was established in 1990, and a
recent German study found childhood leukemia clusters near several nuclear power sites in
Europe (source 2). These power plants are causing innocent kids to get cancer and leukemia
which plays a huge role in a child s life who suffers from one. Even though it is accident free it
can still lead to other types of accidents. In many cases nuclear power plants can be used as a
weapon for many things involving nuclear. According to Ten Strikes Against Nuclear Power,
Nuclear reactors represent a clear national security risk, and an attractive target for terrorists
(source 2). Nuclear missiles, bombs, and other sorts of weapons can be used to destroy or target
our country. Robert Kennedy had found out that there are at least eight relatively easy ways to
cause a major meltdown at a nuclear power plant (source 2). Most nuclear power plants are used
as a target and advantage for war on other countries, including ours. In addition to the reasons why
nuclear power plants are harmful is the fact that they cost so much money to build. According to

Franz Marc Research Paper
In the early 1900 s both realism and abstractionism formed important parts of America s artistic
culture. The goal of the artistic movement of Realism is accuracy and truth without illustrating
subject matter in an idealized manner. The goal of Abstractionism is an almost opposite
achievement in illustration. An accurate reproduction of the subject matter is not important; the
artist s rendering of the subject matter is expressed by relaying a core characteristic with emotions
and feelings by use of color and form. Although these American artistic movements have
presentational differences, they share stylistic and subject similarities in technique and content.
Several of this era s artist s works illustrate these concepts. Soltes (2011) first touches upon

Suppose something happens that it was within your power to...
Suppose something happens that it was within your power to prevent? If you didn t have
malicious intent, was it still you fault? Does letting someone die when you know you had the
capability of saving them in turn make you a murderer? All of these are questions that
philosophical thinkers have tried to answer for centuries. The Doctrine of Acts and Omissions
holds that it is morally worse to commit an act that brings about a bad event than it would be
merely to allow the event to take place by not doing anything to prevent its occurrence. In essence,
there is an intrinsic moral difference between acting and the failure to act. In some ways, we bear
more responsibility for what comes about as a result of our doing something than for what... Show

However, and important note is that even though motives are the same, they are extrinsic difference
where the Doctrine speaks about intrinsic differences. Thus, active and passive euthanasia are
morally equivalent and it is not worse to preform active rather than passive euthanasia. Suppose I
want my baby nephew to die and I enter his bathroom with the intent of killing him. In scenario one,
I consciously and intentionally hold his head under the water until he drowns to death. In the second
scenario I walk in on him accidently slip and hit his head on the bathtub. He then goes
unconscious and drowns under water. I watch as this happens, but I don t make the small effort
of picking up his head from under the water. These two actions may seem like they aren t as
morally taxing but since the intentions were the same from the get go, they are in fact morally
equivalent and just as bad. In this case, the act of killing and the allowing the killing to occur are
the same. A pragmatic example of this argument that may help convince you on why acting and
failing to act are morally equivalent is in the world of dating. If someone is in a relationship with
another person and wants to cheat, is the act of pursuing someone and sleeping with them is same
as allowing one to seduce you and you stopping the act from occurring? The motives are the same
in this case, and even if the motives were different, they are extrinsic

Agriculture Originally, most French Polynesians relied on agriculture as a mean to survive but
when the French nuclear testing began in the 1960s, many abandoned farming. The whole
farming industry almost collapsed for French Polynesia. Exports of vanilla and coffee had ended
by 1965 while coconut production has dropped by a whooping 40 percent. French Polynesians
grow coconut trees, vanilla orchids for vanilla extracts, vegetables, fruits and Theobroma cacao
trees for coffee. Aquaculture included pearl oyster farms which is a big thing in French Polynesia
because many tourists like the pearls that come from the oysters. There are now many eco friendly
pearl oyster farms that helps the economy grow. A occupation in agriculturewas also often given to
men and they got better opportunities for this field of work. Men in the 1960s also had a
breakthrough with commercial agriculture and got introduced to wage paying jobs. There are also
fish farms and dairy farms. Not a lot of the land is given for agriculture, especially after the French

Essay on Metaphors for Death in Shakespeare s Sonnet 73
Metaphors for Death in Shakespeare s Sonnet 73
William Shakespeare s Sonnet 73: That Time of Year Thou Mayest in Me Behold is a sonnet that
examines the fears and anxieties that surround growing old and dying a topic that resonates within
us all. Shakespeare s use of metaphor to illustrate decay and passing are striking, and sets a somber
tone throughout. He uses the season of Fall, the coming of night, and the burning out of a flame as
metaphors for old age and death, and then uses the last two lines to suggest that we should love and
cherish life while we can.
The first four lines of the sonnet reflect the changing of seasons, and the oncoming of Fall:
That time of year thou mayest in me behold,
When yellow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shakespeare uses lines five through eight of the sonnet to describe the closing of a day, and the
onset of night:
In me thou seest the twilight of such day,
As after Sunset fadeth in the West,
Which by and by black night doth take away,
Death s second self that seals up all in rest.
Like the season of Fall, the twilight of a day is a metaphor for the passing of time. Each new day
can be seen as a life itself. Each morning and afternoon when the day is young is a life full of
possibilities and opportunities. Then twilight approaches, and the day is done, only to be
followed by sleep or as Shakespeare calls it, Death s second self .
Lines nine through twelve describe the dying out of a flame the final extinguishing of a light:
In me thou seest the glowing of such fire,
That on the ashes of his youth doth lie,
As the death bed, whereon it must expire,
Consumed with that which it was nourished by.
This final metaphor is of death, and a reminder that all things must end. Shakespeare compares a
flame dancing on the ashes of his youth to that of a person lying on his deathbed, where both must
expire .
In this sonnet, Shakespeare uses metaphor to create a vivid image in the reader s mind of the
passage of time, old age, and death by describing the Fall season, the end of a day, and the burning
out of a flame.

possibly explore and confirm the association between serum magnesium levels and its influence
over exacerbation of COPD as compared to those at stable COPD conditions. The study was done
on 100 patients who were previously diagnosed with COPD.
Results: The mean magnesium values of stable COPD patients in our study averaged 2.08 and
2.06mg/dl for patients below and above 60 years of age respectively. Their corresponding mean
scores during exacerbation were 1.58 and 1.6 mg/dl respectively, which is significant.
Conclusion: There exists a significant role of magnesium during COPD exacerbation, as compared
to when they are stable.

Why Did Lynching Occur Towards African Americans in American History?
When President Abraham Lincoln addressed the nation in his Gettysburg address he expressed the
bloodshed from the civil war would bring about a new birth of freedom for the American people
and nation. During the 19th century and in the aftermath of the civil war, white southerners
engaged in a ruthless and never ending cycle of violence against African Americans. The white
southerners engaged in violence over whether or not, after slavery African Americans would get
full benefits of citizenships. The terror that was inflicted by whites onto African Americans
resulted in 4,743 of African Americans being tortured, and lynched between the years of 1882
1968. Lynching has become the most disturbing and lawless act in American history. Many
scholars and leaders have debated over the reasoning of such violent acts such as lynching during
this time period. In the Ida B wells book The Red Record she explains that lynching wasn t just
about accused crimes of the African Americanman, but the lynching of African American men in
the community who were Black people who were educated or business men. She concludes this by
examining the different excuses the whites gave regarding the reasoning behind the massive
lynching throughout the year. The first excuse to the rest of the world was to stamp out alleged race
riots. Ida B. wells argues this couldn t have been the case since the Negros couldn t have

Psychodynamic Theory And Social Learning Theory Essay
The two theories discussed here will be the Psychodynamic Theory and the Social Learning Theory.
Psychodynamic theories include the wisdom of Freud and Jung. Freud discusses, defense
mechanisms, understanding the ego as it relates to rational thinking and the superego in regard to
mortality. Whereas the Social Learning Theoryincludes those works from Bandura, Watson, and
Piaget among others. This theory will focus on imitation, observation and modeling another s
behaviorto achieve a certain desired outcome. Although their conceptual theories differ, they both
reflect, shape, and interpret the very essence of the human psyche and how we have evolved and

The ego tells us we are invincible, or that we can achieve things that we may have not thought
through. Along with shaping our personality healing will also begin when we pay attention to
different transferences and the actual treatment of the relationship. Much of this type of therapy is
used for those individuals that have somehow attached their emotions to the object of relationships.
Hanging on to the favorite sweater, only listening to music that the other person loved. This can
also involve, defense mechanisms, and a struggle between the ego(rationality), and super ego
(mortality). Such therapy usually involves once weekly 50 minute sessions, the length of treatment
varying between 3 months and 2 years. Essentially this particular theory method deals with
resolving childhood or early in life conflicts.
The Social Learning Theory tells us a different story in how to address those with behaviors that
need addressing, like for instance when men abuse their partners, this is a learned behavior,
originating usually within their family dynamics and cultural aspects that reward anger or violence.
This is further identified with how we interact with their environment. And while this behavior
overall, is deplorable one reason it is left to go on, is because ultimately there are positive and or
negative reinforcers guiding or directing the outcome.

Spiritual Meaning In Art
Spiritual Meaning in Art Throughout the duration of the history of art there has been many works
that have displayed spiritual meaning. This essay will list multiple work that show spirituality in
their work. These works are, Calling of St Matthew by Caravaggio, The Ecstasy of St Theresa by
Bernini, and Last Supper by Leonardo Da Vinci. Specific elements of content where all used
throughout these works to display how the religious meaning was presented. Many other works
share what they worked have in relation to spiritual meaning, however these works do an
extraordinary job of showing it.The Calling of St Matthew was done by Caravaggio from 1599
to1600. The material that was used in order to paint this was oil on canvas. A quote shows how
Caravaggio uses the composition in this paintingThe Calling of Saint Matthew can be divided into
two parts. The figures on the right form a vertical rectangle while those on the left create a
horizontal block. The two sides are further distinguished by their clothing and symbolically, by
Christ s hand. Caravaggio s use of light in this piece is done in such a way where it adds drama
into the painting. With the use of light everyone is in the shadow and there are only two people
who are in direct light. By doing this is specifically showcases these two people while making the
others seem as if they are hidden. The man in the light is St Matthew and the reason that the light

Family which meant it predated 2001. The actual date was 1999 and was really no help since a
lot of things have changed since then. Further exploration led me to find the math, reading, and
science testing data for our system and for Wahlert. Along with that, I was able to find our
demographic breakdown for the schools in the system. The information was really basic as I
compared it to the Dubuque Community Schools on the same Iowa government website. This did
allow me to compare the scores for math, science, and reading between ourselves and the public
schools. This was at least so form of community conversation as our local paper published the data
as well. Though, most of the time the private schools will be slightly mention or mentioned on
another day so as to not lead to comparisons being drawn between the

Manifestations Of Mass Culture In The 1950s
Manifestations of Mass Culture in the 1950 s such as Consumerism, Suburbia, Materialism, were
seen as a new prosperity combined with a buy now pay later attitude began in America. These
manifestations were realized primarily as new forms of entertainment were disseminated to the
American public through TV. 76 million Baby Boomers born between 1946 and 1964 provided
the largest generational market in American history. Marked by the end of World War 2 and
bolstered by the emerging prosperity of this period a number of mass media fueled phenomenon
began to grow into existence. Television, Suburbia, and Materialism lead the way for aspired to
lifestyles of the American Masses. Arguably most important of these three was TV in that it
provided the medium by which practically all of the manifestations of Mass Culture were
disseminated among the populace. Affordable by most, by 1960 ninety percent of American
households owned a TV. Supplying the medium by which both the markets and the supply side of
the American economy were watching and capitalizing on, recreated and revolutionized much of
the American economy. Most TV programing in the late fifties and early sixties was generally
conservative and projected mainstreamtraditional American values. By pleasantly creeping into
homes with this mainstream methodology TV became an institutional mainstay and a necessity of
the American wayof life. From overnight fads to religion, many new products were entering

Analysis Of Editha By William Dean Howells And The Yellow...
Realism is the art of exposing the hardcore truth in a form of literature while keeping it creative
in its fashion. Realism, in itself is a type of literature I am the fondest of because although the
truth hurts sometimes, it will always be better than a sweet lie. Most of the literary realism I have
experienced has worked hand in hand with romantics as it exposes the truth behind marriages in
the 18th and 19th centuries. Two stories I have read that stood out the most to me on the grounds
of literary realism are: Editha by William Dean Howellsand The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte
Perkins Gilman.
Editha by William Dean Howells, will go down as one of many strong points of evidence when it
comes down to literary realism. This comes into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marriage was a major key as well because it showed how marriage was set up and how women
were domesticated and voices were silent. That was a real eye opener because woman didn t have
any rights and was basically to stay silent and do what they are told by their spouse.
In essence, literary realism is put in place to give its readers a real place of how life was or how
something occurs in the pass. The two stories that gave me a good depiction of what realism is
are: Editha by William Dean Howells, and The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. The
two stories put things in perspective when it comes to life in the nineteenth century and the
problems that came along with it. Which are so unfortunate in some cases but it gives us the
readers the raw truth.
There is a thing that occurs in stories that give you a since of humor while still giving you an
ultimate message. Mark Twain has become the connoisseur of this term and uses it in a very
unique way to show his readers that there can always be humor in your writing even when you
think it s impossible. The term is satire which in my own words mean putting humor and
information in way that makes you think. I have found this prominent in two of Mark Twain s
books: The Good Little Boy, and The Bad Little Boy. These stories give its readers satire

The Important Aspects Of Persuading A Foreign Company
Introduction
Netherlands ( Dutch ) is the main constuient country of Kingdom of Netherlands . It is small but
densely populated country in Western Europe. Dutch is the official language in Netherlands but
English , German and to some extent French is also spoken in Netherlands. It is one of the most
secular countries in Western Europe . It has a developed economy and plays a very important role
in the European economy.
The common factors that influence the business are economic, social, legal and political
Environments but often culture is ignored during acquisitions and mergers .The truth is that
culture is perverse and everyday business is affected by culture (Weber and Camerer, 2003).
History tells us culture can make or break a business depending on the way it is handled. To
persuade a foreign company one should adopt to their culture and keep aside their own cultural
preferences. One of the most important aspects of persuading a foreign company is try to respect
and accept the other culture business etiquette s and practices. In this report we will focus on some
of the techniques to persuade Dutch.
According to Hofstede s research on different cultural dimensions , Netherlands score low (38) on
power distance which means they are independent , believe in equal rights , superiors are easily
accessible , they do not like to be controlled and attitude towards managers is informal and on first
name basis. Communication and participation is appreciated. They are an

Japanese Feudalism Essay
European Feudalism and Japanese Feudalism are very similar when it comes to their government
system, which always begins with the highest rank to the lowest rank of both systems in their
governments. The highest rank in the Europeans Feudalism system is the king, and for the
Japanese, it s the emperor. The Europeans had one king who owned all power, provides money,
recruits the army on demand, and grants land by the lord. Japanese Feudalismis a little different for
their highest rank. The Japanese had one emperor who owns no political power, the actual ruler in
the Japanese system is called the shogun, or supreme military leader who is chosen by the emperor
for life. European and Japanese Feudalism have many similarities in their government system,
starting with the highest power which is the ruler of their government, and scaffolds down to a
peasant or farm type of person.

Europe was somewhat different from Japan when it comes to children s education and training.
In the European system, boys at the age of seven were sent to the castle of their fathers lord,
where he would be trained to fight as a knight in warfare. During the training, the boys learned of
to hide horses and fight with different weapons. Trained knights would be expected to pledge
and to live by the code of conduct, which states they much be generous in warfare, have loyalty,
and be very brave. In Japan, boys and girls were taught important life skills. Japanese girls were
taught mostly household skills, or chores. On the resource website, it states, Girls were taught
things like cooking, washing, flower arranging and sewing, as well as skills. Boy s however, were

Stephanie Hale
In the article UBC faces new rights complaint over handling of sex assault report by the Globe and
Mail, it is explained that in January 2013, Stephanie Hale was sexually assaulted by a fellow
student at the University of British Columbia. When filing a complaint to B.C. s Human Rights
Tribunal against the alleged attacker, they took little action in resolving the case, which in turn took
Hale s health and educationfor the worst. Hale believes there to be a better method in responding to
reports like these and has continued to try persuade to the university to change its policies through
the aid of lawyers and having trials, but to no avail. However, many are filing complaints to
universities and are attempting to change their policies.

His mother, outraged, criticized how the school handled a child with difficulties as her son has
changed from this ordeal (Nasser, 2017). While these responses are not a concern with many
educational institutions, it is still an issue that should be addressed as students are having to
suffer. This carelessness can cause a great deal of harm to students and it is because of this lack
of support that there are already instances where people have already been caused distress. There
is bias present in the article that supports Stephanie Hale s case which can be seen by how the
information is relayed. It focuses primarily on how Hale was negatively impacted by the events,
reaching out to the reader s sympathy, as well as UBC s lack of care. There were no quotations
taken directly from the university to provide their own explanation, merely information stated
mostly by the victim. Hale s poor health and education was repeated to display the inadequacy of
her experience and the article included the possibility of discrimination against her without
verifying with the school. While the Globe and Mail contributed in giving the necessary
information, it emphasized the need of modifying the sexual assault policy in a

Injera
As soon as I walked through the doors of Ras Ka, I felt a sense of home. The aroma of berbere
and niter kibbeh wafting through the room. The setting was quaint and inviting, only four tables to
choose from. The kitchen was open to the sitting area, a see through curtain acting as the door. The
owner, Hannah, welcomed us. Hannah was wearing a colorful netela, a traditional Ethiopian
shawl. My family and I sat down on a back bench and ordered a traditional herbal tea. The taste was
bitter and bland. While I had a hard time swallowing the dirt like tea, I enjoyed the aesthetic of
the spices and herbs. A serving platter of Injera timatim FitFit was placed in front of us. Injera is
traditionally made of tef and used like a tortilla to enjoy lentils and mixed vegetables. The injera
was bland with a spongey texture. However, the neutral flavorof the injera balanced the prominently
spicy flavor of the Ras Ka sauce. Traditionally, Ethiopian cuisine contains wat, a fiery spice. Ras Ka
displays the traditional eating customs of Muslim and Christian populations in Ethiopia by
remaining a fully vegan and vegetarian restaurant. Many Muslims and Christians in Ethiopia avoid
consuming pork, and often beef and chicken. The platter was loaded full with tomatoes, lentils,
green peppers, and onions. The prominent agriculture of Ethiopia was directly... Show more content

Rather than reminiscing art or music, I was able to connect one on one with the agriculture and
essence of Ethiopia. From the spices to the Injera, I experienced the flavor, the life, and the heart

overpowered the vegetables, only added extraordinary flavor. As I dined on injera and lentils, I felt
as though Hannah s mother and grandmother had prepared the dish for me. I was captivated by the

September 11th Attacks and Hunt for Osama Bin Laden
Osama Bin Laden was the most wanted man in the world, after the attacks of September 11. On
September 11 2001 two planes crashed in to the Twin Tower, another plane crashed in to the
pentagon, and another crashed into a field on rout to the nation s capital, killing three thousand
people mainly civilians. (Benson) Hours after the attacks the CIA and FBI stared a search to find
who was responsible for the attack; with in the day they found that the terrorism group al Qaedawas
the brains behind the operation. With extensive research American FBI came to the understanding
that Osama Bin Ladenwas the leader of an anti American terrorism group al Qaeda group and
ordered for the attack. (Benson) After the Bush declared to war on terror (the war to end
terrorism) in September 2001 he appointed the CIA and FBI to start the search for Bin Laden,
the search started October 2001. (Benson) Shortly after Obama was elected in to office in 2008
he made finding Bin Laden the top of the priority list (Obama). The search for al Qaeda leader
Osama Bin Laden took ten years after extensive CIA research and the brave efforts of seal team
six. The beginning of the search for Bin laden did not seem like a daunting task as the military
quickly found Bin Laden hiding in the White Mountains just east of Afghanistan. American troops
were sent to bomb the mountains in hope of killing Bin Laden December of 2001, this was later
called the battle of Tora Bora. The battle of Tora Bora was the first

Social And Economical Factors On Youth Essay
I have chosen to research into the social and economical factors that may influence a youth s
likelihood to engage in delinquency as I believe that understanding the factors underpinning youth
offending may help to reduce youth crime levels, as preventive measures can be aimed at the
distinct root causes recognised. I have chosen to particularly look at the link between the social
factor of education in terms of low school attainment and the wider effect on the economy through
looking at youth unemployment and offending. I believe these social and economical factors are
inextricably linked therefore I hypothesise that low school attainment leads to increases in youth
crimelevels due to youths not acquiring the necessary skills to allow a successful entrance to the
labour market.
Methodology:
In carrying out this literature review I have engaged in secondary research in order to provide me
with significant qualitative and quantitative data on this given topic. I collected a range of sources
through library searches where I aimed to research previous studies through the use of the internet
to access online resources, books and journals. Upon doing so I found a few books that
encompassed the social and economical factors I specifically chose to review although I found
many websites that had information on the social economical factors that may affect delinquency.
Findings:
Education Low school attainment:
All sources reviewed agreed that there is a correlation

Legalizing Drugs And The United States Essay
Legalizing drugs in the United States would lead to great trouble for the country affecting all
citizens. Legalizing drugs will cause chaos among Americans. Edmund Harnett a deputy chief and
executive officer wrote an article, Drug legalization: why it wouldn t work in the United States.
Harnett is also involved in the narcotics division of the New York police department. William J.
Bennett the director of the national drug control policy wrote a heavy article, Drug Policy and the
Intellectuals. James Q. Wilson has a political science degree and is the author of many crime
articles including, Against the Legalization of Drugs. Disorder is the last thing this country needs
from legalizing drugs. The legalization of drugs is undesirable because it would ruin relationships,
would harm the safety of everyone, and would promote violence.
Many people in favor of legalization feel that drugs would not have a negative impact of families
or other relationships. However, All relationships would be in jeopardy if drugs were legalized.
Suffering would be placed on the lives of many family members for their lifetime. Watching a drug
addiction is painful and would most likely cause grief between relationships. Drugs create trust
issues among friends and family. Drugs promote lying and stealing often times for money to
obtain drugs with. Drugs destroy one s character. Drugs take away a person s sense of
responsibility and dignity (Bennett 550). When a person s character is

Carrie Chapman Catt Research Paper
Peterson 1
Carrie Chapman Catt, one of the most influential women of the nineteen twenties, was born on
January 9, 1859. After living a meaningful life she died with integrity on March 9, 1947.
Carrie Clinton Lane was born in Ripon, Wisconsin to her parents Lucius and Maria. Carrie was the
second born of the three children that Lucius and Maria conceived. She graduated High School in
1877, after her family moved to Charles City, Iowa when she turned seven. After High School,
Carrie worked hard to get herself an education. She financed her way through college washing
dishes, working in the school library, and teaching. Finally, in 1880, she graduated as the only
woman in her class and the highest ranking from Iowa Agricultural College and ... Show more

The marriage with Mr. Catt allowed her to travel due to his support morally and financially; thus
leading to her national involvement with NAWSA (National American Woman Suffrage
Association). Becoming notorious for her writing and speeches, Catt spoke at the Washington D.C
convention for NAWSA, and later, as requested by Susan B. Anthony, Congress. These were major
accomplishments that led to Ms. Anthony s decision to choose Ms. Catt as her successor of
NAWSA. From there on Catt spent the majority of her time organizing women at campaigns, and
educating them with her speeches. With her newfound political experience Catt longed to broaden
her horizons to an international level. Accordingly, she organized the International Woman Suffrage
Alliance (IWSA). This new role led her to step down from her position as the president of NAWSA
to work with the thirty two nations involved with IWSA.
Her resignation in 1904 was consequently founded by her sickened husband. She spent a year
caring for him before his death in 1905. From there to 1907 Catt was anguished with the numerous
deaths that followed, Her close friend Susan B. Anthony passed away in 1906, followed by her
younger brother, William in 1907, and finally her mother. Notwithstanding, Catt

  • 3. Peace Like a River Essay Life can be viewed as a battle field, a constant fight between good and evil. In Leif Enger s Peace Like a River, this scenario was well depicted. In the novel, there was a constant fight taking place between the good and evil characters, and though based around family, love, and brotherhood, the novelmainly focused on the conflict between these characters. This student felt that it was fair to classify the Lands along with Roxanna Cowley, The Shultzs and Dr. Nokes as the good characters. This was a fair classification as these characters maintained their positive personas throughout the novel. After the two murders Superintendent Holgren began to treat Jeremiah differently, as he allowed his opinion to determine whether or not Jeremiah deserved the job. Holgren made work even more difficult and disagreed with everything that Jeremiah did. Jeremiah, being the calm person that he was, never retaliated with negative words. He allowed Holgren to mistreat him, even in front of the staff and students in the school. Holgren finally resorted to firing Jeremiah in front of everyone, but Jeremiah simply touched his face and walked away. The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing (Budha). Jeremiah did nothing but simply left things in God s hands. He allowed Holgren to make a fool out of himself and surprisingly, he healed Holgren s face from those unsightly sores. Once again good triumphed over evil. This student felt that Jeremiah maintained his composure and acted just as he should. The best way to deal with situations is to walk away and Jeremiah proved to have such discipline. Do you agree with this statement? Consider how the case law has developed and give reasons for your answer. In his article Equitable Rights of Cohabitees Hayton suggested that the distinction between common intention constructive trusts and proprietary estoppel has, over time, come to be but illusory and goes on further to propose that since the general direction of the development of the law has been to embrace the principle of preventing and remedying unconscionable conduct regardless of whether the claim brought before them was originally brought under the concept of a constructive trust or proprietary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Proprietary estoppel, on the other hand, is a legal bar preventing a (first) party from denying another (second) party s right in first party s property where the second party has incurred costs in that property to its detriment . Proprietary estoppel, like other types of estoppel, is not a remedy in itself but a tool to raise estoppel equity , on the basis of which the court is able to decide on the type of remedy that this equity will satisfy. Similarly to the need for the element of common intention for the purpose of establishing a constructive trust, there is a need for the establishment of an active or passive assurance on the part of the defendant that leads to some form of consequential detriment on the part of the claimant when acting in reliance on that assurance. Thus, there must be a causal connection between the actions undertaken by the claimant and the initial assurance on the part of the defendant. The extent and the nature of the detriment suffered by the claimant, however, appears to be substantially more flexible than that necessary to find the existence of a constructive trust. For example, in Inwards v Baker [1965], such detriment amounted to the improvement of the defendant s land, while in Gillett v Holt [2001] it was manifested in both financial and personal detriment. The Hero vs Villian Dichotomy in Beowulf Essay Casey Kerins AP English Literature 10/1/12 In the Epic Beowulf, composed in the 8th century, the reader follows the protagonist, Beowulf, on a series of adventures to defeat three key monsters. This old English poem uses a series of motifs to help develop its themes, known as dichotomies. Dichotomies, defined as opposites on the same spectrum, range from good and evil to young and old, light and dark to Christianity and paganism. All these dichotomies are represented clearly in the text; however the concept of Heroes and Villains can be pulled in many different directions. Being more of an angry, scared woman and not a bloodthirsty monster, she quickly realized her mistake in attacking and fled for her life, taking a chieftain with her. Beowulf went to destroy the beast, and succeeded in bloodily killing Grendel s mother. The text says he smote so ferociously that it caught her by the neck, breaking her bones (57). Beowulf again proved victorious, a hero in the eyes of the Danes. This second battle is more complicated than the first. Although one can merely say Beowulf is the hero, Grendel s mother is the villain and be done with it, further thought suggests it is not that simple. As a warrior and hero, Beowulf upholds himself to the heroic code, calling for courage, honor, and vengeance. If our standards for a hero rest on these three qualities, is not Grendel s mother as heroic as the Hero? She is honorable in trying to avenge her son s death, just as Beowulf was with Grendel and the Danes. She shows courage by attacking Heorot, full of warriors, and obviously wants vengeance for her son s death. Although Grendel s mother is ugly in appearance and a descendent of Cain, therefore cursed and evil, she is justified in retaliating, and possesses the three qualities of a hero. The goal of the artistic movement of Realism is accuracy and truth without illustrating subject matter in an idealized manner. The goal of Abstractionism is an almost opposite achievement in illustration. An accurate reproduction of the subject matter is not important; the artist s rendering of the subject matter is expressed by relaying a core characteristic with emotions and feelings by use of color and form. Although these American artistic movements have presentational differences, they share stylistic and subject similarities in technique and content. Does letting someone die when you know you had the capability of saving them in turn make you a murderer? All of these are questions that philosophical thinkers have tried to answer for centuries. The Doctrine of Acts and Omissions holds that it is morally worse to commit an act that brings about a bad event than it would be merely to allow the event to take place by not doing anything to prevent its occurrence. In essence, there is an intrinsic moral difference between acting and the failure to act. In some ways, we bear more responsibility for what comes about as a result of our doing something than for what... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, and important note is that even though motives are the same, they are extrinsic difference where the Doctrine speaks about intrinsic differences. Thus, active and passive euthanasia are morally equivalent and it is not worse to preform active rather than passive euthanasia. Suppose I want my baby nephew to die and I enter his bathroom with the intent of killing him. In scenario one, I consciously and intentionally hold his head under the water until he drowns to death. In the second scenario I walk in on him accidently slip and hit his head on the bathtub. He then goes unconscious and drowns under water. I watch as this happens, but I don t make the small effort of picking up his head from under the water. These two actions may seem like they aren t as morally taxing but since the intentions were the same from the get go, they are in fact morally equivalent and just as bad. In this case, the act of killing and the allowing the killing to occur are the same. A pragmatic example of this argument that may help convince you on why acting and failing to act are morally equivalent is in the world of dating. Like the season of Fall, the twilight of a day is a metaphor for the passing of time. Each new day can be seen as a life itself. Each morning and afternoon when the day is young is a life full of possibilities and opportunities. However, the simple fact that as a private school system, we do not need to do a lot of these public school state mandated items. I looked for a long while and was finally excited to find a school needs assessment for Wahlert. Two things jumped out at me at as I started to read: 1. the name of the school was Wahlert and not Wahlert Catholic which meant that it was older than 8 years. 2. It was for Wahlert and not Holy Family which meant it predated 2001. The actual date was 1999 and was really no help since a lot of things have changed since then. Further exploration led me to find the math, reading, and science testing data for our system and for Wahlert. Along with that, I was able to find our demographic breakdown for the schools in the system. The information was really basic as I compared it to the Dubuque Community Schools on the same Iowa government website. This did allow me to compare the scores for math, science, and reading between ourselves and the public schools. This was at least so form of community conversation as our local paper published the data as well. Though, most of the time the private schools will be slightly mention or mentioned on another day so as to not lead to comparisons being drawn between the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These manifestations were realized primarily as new forms of entertainment were disseminated to the American public through TV. 76 million Baby Boomers born between 1946 and 1964 provided the largest generational market in American history. Marked by the end of World War 2 and bolstered by the emerging prosperity of this period a number of mass media fueled phenomenon began to grow into existence. • 42. Analysis Of Editha By William Dean Howells And The Yellow... Realism is the art of exposing the hardcore truth in a form of literature while keeping it creative in its fashion. Realism, in itself is a type of literature I am the fondest of because although the truth hurts sometimes, it will always be better than a sweet lie. Most of the literary realism I have experienced has worked hand in hand with romantics as it exposes the truth behind marriages in the 18th and 19th centuries. Two stories I have read that stood out the most to me on the grounds of literary realism are: Editha by William Dean Howellsand The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Editha by William Dean Howells, will go down as one of many strong points of evidence when it comes down to literary realism. This comes into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marriage was a major key as well because it showed how marriage was set up and how women were domesticated and voices were silent. That was a real eye opener because woman didn t have any rights and was basically to stay silent and do what they are told by their spouse. In essence, literary realism is put in place to give its readers a real place of how life was or how something occurs in the pass. The two stories that gave me a good depiction of what realism is are: Editha by William Dean Howells, and The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. The two stories put things in perspective when it comes to life in the nineteenth century and the problems that came along with it. Which are so unfortunate in some cases but it gives us the readers the raw truth. There is a thing that occurs in stories that give you a since of humor while still giving you an ultimate message. Mark Twain has become the connoisseur of this term and uses it in a very unique way to show his readers that there can always be humor in your writing even when you think it s impossible. The term is satire which in my own words mean putting humor and information in way that makes you think. I have found this prominent in two of Mark Twain s books: The Good Little Boy, and The Bad Little Boy. These stories give its readers satire ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Injera As soon as I walked through the doors of Ras Ka, I felt a sense of home. The aroma of berbere and niter kibbeh wafting through the room. The setting was quaint and inviting, only four tables to choose from. The kitchen was open to the sitting area, a see through curtain acting as the door. The owner, Hannah, welcomed us. Hannah was wearing a colorful netela, a traditional Ethiopian shawl. My family and I sat down on a back bench and ordered a traditional herbal tea. The taste was bitter and bland. While I had a hard time swallowing the dirt like tea, I enjoyed the aesthetic of the spices and herbs. A serving platter of Injera timatim FitFit was placed in front of us. Injera is traditionally made of tef and used like a tortilla to enjoy lentils and mixed vegetables. The injera was bland with a spongey texture. However, the neutral flavorof the injera balanced the prominently spicy flavor of the Ras Ka sauce. Traditionally, Ethiopian cuisine contains wat, a fiery spice. Ras Ka displays the traditional eating customs of Muslim and Christian populations in Ethiopia by remaining a fully vegan and vegetarian restaurant. • 48. Social And Economical Factors On Youth Essay I have chosen to research into the social and economical factors that may influence a youth s likelihood to engage in delinquency as I believe that understanding the factors underpinning youth offending may help to reduce youth crime levels, as preventive measures can be aimed at the distinct root causes recognised. I have chosen to particularly look at the link between the social factor of education in terms of low school attainment and the wider effect on the economy through looking at youth unemployment and offending. I believe these social and economical factors are inextricably linked therefore I hypothesise that low school attainment leads to increases in youth crimelevels due to youths not acquiring the necessary skills to allow a successful entrance to the labour market. Methodology: In carrying out this literature review I have engaged in secondary research in order to provide me with significant qualitative and quantitative data on this given topic. I collected a range of sources through library searches where I aimed to research previous studies through the use of the internet to access online resources, books and journals. Upon doing so I found a few books that encompassed the social and economical factors I specifically chose to review although I found many websites that had information on the social economical factors that may affect delinquency. Findings: Education Low school attainment: All sources reviewed agreed that there is a correlation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
